After years of meh experiences at other salons, Stanley Nails gave me the mani-pedi of my dreams. SO pretty and as perfect looking as the day I got them done 10 days later! I'm super picky about what I like and terrible at choosing colours. I showed them a few reference photos and they captured the look I wanted perfectly--even adding some subtle details to make them pop without looking too bling-y. Highly recommend Jack and Tina! They are my new go-tos. Bonus points for the dreamy massage chairs and awesome Commercial Drive location--so many great places to shop and eat, you could easily make a day of it. read more

I've been going to this place for years but I'll never go back after the last few experiences I have had. The last time I went here one girl cut/grated my heel with a grating tool ?! And it was bleeding everywhere. The girl doing my nails did a terrible job and needed to fix about 6 out of 10 nails after she finished, per my request. She saw no issue with them, even though the gel nail polish appeared textured, uneven and almost lumpy. I got 20 percent off for the terrible service but I am disappointed to have had this experience. read more

Received a pedicure here and they went to town with the razor and sliced a large piece of my heel off. Sorry I'm not a piece of cheese. My heel was bleeding, an open wound and she applied some form of powder to stop the bleeding. It took several applications.....this is not a little Nic (see photo). Used a dirty towel to clean the wound plus put my foot back in the dirty water. No apologies given, no bandages (had to ask for one). I understand that Accidents happen and we are all human but this was not handled well. I feel like she did not take the situation seriously. I go to leave, it's painful to walk. Another girl asked if I'm okay, I say no my foot hurts. My friend goes to pay for her pedi ( who can't believe I'm being so nice about the situation) gets asked if she's paying for both of us. I make it clear that I don't think I should be paying for this. Im offered $10 off like they're doing me a favour. At this point I'm furious and ask for the manager. She asks to see the wound...so I show her and peel off the bandage. Another customer standing close by sees the wound and says "that's just brutal". I figured at this point I've made my case.....but no. I'm told by the manager she doesn't have the authority to waive the charge. Okay soooo who does? Finally I got on the phone with owner. Finally, the charged was waived My advice to Stanley Nails is if you make your customer bleed you DO NOT CHARGE THEM...and train your staff!!! read more

I'm actually really surprised at all the negative reviews this salon has. I'm really picky with my nails and I had a wonderful experience. I had a gel manicure and pedicure, with two different ladies, and they they both did a really good job. My nails were actually perfect. The girl who did my nails really took her time to make sure my cuticles were cared for and that's something I really appreciate in a nail salon. I don't like to go to nail salons that rush just to get a few more clients in for the day. I will definitely be back! read more

Would not recommend. I came here as I had an important event and my regular nail salon was not open. I saw pics from Instagram and thought it would be fine, but don't trust those. Vincent did my nails and was very rough with handling. He didn't even soak my nails in warm water or remove cuticles like all the other places. I said I wanted acrylic nails ($35) but he disregarded and just decided that solar uv nails ($45 remember this number!!) would better. The Color I chose was out and so I had to chose another. It was different from the bottle and sample but I went with it anyway thinking it would change after you bake it. He roughly buffed out my nail with a super rough buffer block, and to add on, he clipped the side of my nail too close and I was in pain. As you can see in the picture, he applied the polish ON TO MY SKIN where the cuticle is.To my surprise after my nails were done, he didn't bother to apply any oil or cream. To add to it all, the total came up at $65 and I questioned it and he told me there's a price for solar nails plus the polish... for me, that's absurd. I paid anyway and left the salon. I'm happy to say that I WILL NOT be going back here again :) save your money and find a half decent salon. read more

I had been a couple of times to the original location by Metrotown, but since I live in Vancouver I decided to switch to the Commercial drive location. I have never experienced anything bad at either location. Nail techs are fast, the place was always clean when I went there and my nails always look good. I get acrylic nails and before I found Stanley I was actually having a hard time finding a salon in town that a) still does them as most places only do gels b) has reasonable prices. I don't feel nickel and dimed at Stanley, where other salons I have. They do try and up-sell me to "soalr" every time, but I just say "no thanks" read more

I'm not sure if this is a special horrible experience or something to watch out for, I've had my nails done here twice the first time went well; I had been free of fake nails for only a few months and decided it was time to get them again, I've never had any issues even close to this and I've been to many different salons. I came in for a fill (the white nails in the photo) I chose my colour and the women who did my fill was visibly annoyed with me because the colour needed so many coats, she kept exclaiming how it was bad and a bad colour choice and how it took too many coats ect! I hope they've removed this colour option if it's such a hassle. I left disappointed in the quality of my nails and the service I received but I've worked in customer service so I understand, I paid my bill and tipped! I had intended on coming back in a week or two to get a whole new set because I wasn't in love with my choice or how the nails turned out but shortly after I left I started experiencing discomfort; my nails became very itchy and I even noticed blisters appearing at my cuticle. I unfortunately had to get them removed and after so discovered my natural nails were absolutely destroyed, my healthy previous nails were now thin and peeling and even one of the nails (photo shown) had a split in the middle of the nail (insanely painful) and still to do this (this happened in june) my nails are still in horrible shape, I had skin peel off and blister and my nails don't grow because they just break off! I have no idea how this could have happened as I've never experienced anything even remotely similar to this and am now questioning the sanitary standards or practices at this place! read more

To be fair I have been to this salon half a dozen times. They overbook consistently, so if you make an appointment and wait an hour and a half dont be surprised. The very last time I went the lady cut so deep into my finger while filling (no, not even from nail clippers) I screamed. I got a bandaid, she apologized and still charged me full price. I can handle a lot with nail salons but I havent had a single good experience here. Its close to me but I will gladly avoid this area. read more

What can I say about Stanley nails. Even though you get what you pay for you advertise as a professional salon shouldn't you do professional work. I wish I could call visa and do a charge back and get my money back like I can when things are falsely advertised online. Stanley nails is by far the worse place I've ever gotten my nails done. First my shellac manicure was done by what seemed to be a student he did a terrible job. I told him and another nail tech re did my nails better then he did the first time but still not well enough. I left there unhappy and will never go back. They apologized but now I'm stuck with this stuff on my nails I'm picking it off as I type. I go here regularly for my shellac mani pedis. The price is right, and the quality of the service is good. Shellac manis last at least 10 days, and my pedis are grown out before they wear out. I seem to be tough on nails so this is good for me, I've had shellac manis that lift after a couple of days. The staff are all friendly, it's clean and they do their best to get you in and out. I bring my dude in for the occasional pedicure and they usually put something man friendly on the tv :) Nail work isn't relaxing for me, it's maintenance. This place makes the maintenance painless. read more

I went to get a fill and color change after getting them done at SLS Salon on Robson 2 weeks ago - who did a terrible job btw, they were so thick and chunky, misshapen and uneven, and absolutely the wrong shape. I made an appointment with Katina, and it was like night and day when I walked out. They actually look like my nails, and the shape is so beautiful. She managed to get the shape I wanted, within a workable length (I use my hands a lot and cant do the long claws), and was so friendly to chat with, and very obviously technically skilled and experienced compared to the 2 hour nightmare I had previously experienced. I got my nails done black, and when I left they looked very navy blue. I came back the next day to ask and see what happened, if there was a mistake, etc, and if they could do anything to make them blacker, and Katina was super understanding and patient, she troubleshooted the potential issue, tried 2 different top coats so I could compare and choose which one I was happier with. When we found out which top coat made them less blue, she redid the topcoat on the rest of them for me without charging me, and made sure I was happy before I left. On top of this awesome customer service experience, which could have gone so many other ways, during the initial appointment she was super clear on making sure I knew the prices of what I was getting, and that I was getting exactly what I wanted, that it was possible before she started. I was going to get matte back designs on the glossy black, and she made sure to double check with me that I knew it may not really be seen so may not be worth the extra cost. It was really nice to have a business looking out for me and helping me get the most out of my money. Gold stars everyone, thanks for a great experience, I'll be back! read more

IT is a stretch even giving this salon 1 star! while in the middle of a pedicure the next basin started to flood over the floor. the woman who was doing my pedicure took some time to clean it up, which was fine, but after using the mop and using towels on the floor, continued doing my pedicure without changing her gloves. I had said that I like my nails cut short....however she cut so much of the nail off that on one foot the nail is cut below the nail bed! the nails on the 2 big toes are also uneven. when I commented on how short they were she said that I had asked for them to be 'very, very' short! She refused to make eye cintact with me during the rest of the pedicure. I would never go back here and certainly would not recommend it read more

Be gentle please! LOL The vietnamese lady filed my nails so hard. She also scratched my skin and nail with the rough nail file when She was taking off my gel color. The service was quick just like other Vietnamese business that need move on to the next customer as quick as they can to get more money. Good thing : They have lots of pretty nail polish colors. Get 5% off when you pay cash.... (I still considered this place expensive, compare to the quality of other similar salons) My recommendation : If you have more time or you drive, trust me, go to the Vietnamese cash-only nail salon on Kingsway& Victoria. Went here a few months back for a mani/pedi and had a bad experience. The lady doing my hand had accidentally ruined the polish on one nail and when I reminded her to fix it she mumbled slut in Vietnamese. She probably didn't realize I understood her. Super unprofessional. I should have replied back but was too stunned. For my nails the polish was uneven and I'm sure the girl doing it wasn't even trained. Management should go back and really train their people probably. read more

I've been coming to Stanley for years and it's always been good but the last time my girlfriend and I went for pedis, my friend had horrible service. The technician was so rude and treated my friend so poorly. I've never seen her there before. She's an older lady, maybe she's new. She wasn't even trying to communicate with real words but instead pointing rudely and gesturing aggressively. She was getting my friend to sit in very awkward positions so she was able to paint the baby toes on her feet which I've never seen before. She did not use any scrub on her legs or a hot towel. For some reason she wanted my friend out of there as fast as possible and her pedi ended 15 min before mine even though we started at the same time. I sadly will not be returning to Stanley and I'm sorry to say that they lost two very long time clients. Atrocious service. read more

I love coming here and have been coming here for two years now. The staff are super friendly and accommodating. It's a little out of the way for me but its totally worth it. If you are thinking of getting artificial nails, go with solar because they last longer. :) if I have to wait a little bit, I just grab a coffee or a slice of pizza around the corner. read more

After 3 terrible shellac manicures (lifting within days, paint outside the nail bed), I finally found a specific tech that did impecable work. When she moved to the commercial location from metrotown, I decided that the extra commute was worth it to see my girl. Because I only trust my nails and my money with one Tech I ALWAYS call ahead to book an appt and make sure shes free. However, when I arrived on time, my tech was working on someone else .. Just starting a set. She looked surprised to see me and came over to say Stanley hadnt told her I was coming, she appologized and told me to pick out a colour and design and that another girl would remove my Shellac while she finished her other set. The other girl just plopped my hands into acetone and left me there....she never came back. I had to start picking off the old shellac myself before my fingers pruned. Finally my girl was done and came to take over my mani. As usual she did an amazing job, and I left feeling conflicted... the manicure itself is amazing, she has such a creative eye and I'm always happy with her work, but the customer service by Stanley and much of the staff is just horrible. I went back again 3 weeks later, booking an appointment over the phone with Stanley. When I arrived my girl was in the middle of a set and I ended up waiting 40 mins AGAIN until she was free! Anyways, I asked for something I'd had before, sparkle tips with clear Shellac overlay (on my natural nails). This ALWAYS comes out to $35 plus tax. Well, this time, Stanley decided to take over and basically forced her to use a solar gel overlay instead of shellac, saying that shellac wouldnt be strong enough... even though we had done it at least twice before without issue. When I went up to pay, he charged me $54!!! For solar gel overlay on my NATURAL NAILS!!! No tips, no acrylic, just sparkles and gel, are you freaking kidding me!? Honestly I shouldnt have paid after he messed up AGAIN and made me wait over 40mins after I had CALLED AHEAD to book an appointment with one specific tech... but I couldnt be that rude infront of my girl, so I begrudgingly paid for solar gel, and pulled my tech aside to say I really love her work, but I cannot do business with someone as disrespectuful and inconsiderate as Stanley. I mean, how hard is it to pick up a pen and write down an appointment!?!? I have not been back. Would NOT recommend. read more

I am from the U.S. and this is the first salon I've been to in Vancouver. It was super clean, I received service within 6-9 minutes, they have an array of polishes to choose from, and I was pleased with my services (pedicure & fill-in: both shellac). Lynn did my fill and she was SUPER SWEET! My phone was low from using my GPS and Lynn offered a phone charger to charge my phone while I received services. My mani-pedi took 35 minutes (i should have known based in that alone!) and they used nail clippers (unsanitized, as were all their tools!) and a crappy use of an emery board! This place is okay for nails but the waxing is terrible. I had gotten my face waxed by the lady here and she gave me a burn. She not only do anything about it but she didn't even address it. I noticed after I got home. I advise you to not get your anything waxed there. read more

I went here the first time based on a recommendation from a friend who happens to know the owner. I trusted my friend, so I tried it out. The first time I went it was great! The girl knew exactly what to do, spoke perfect English and made me leave there thinking "wow, I'll definitely be back!" Fast forward a month later when I've come to have them redone. What a nightmare. The girl I saw at first made a mess of my nails and removed the shellac twice. She painted the french tips on free hand with no clean up after. It was really ugly. I have square shaped nails and she did my tips in an oval formation. Nothing I've ever seen before! She said she needed to see a picture, which total blew me away. She was a total ass about fixing her mess and began talking about me in Viet making a total spectacle of me. She gives up (and keep in mind; all i wanted originally were pink french tips in shellac. Basic) my natural nails are quite long so i get shellac to preserve them. New girl comes, and by this point I'm just like"just do a basic french tip so I can go" I had somewhere to be and had already wasted an hour more than needed there. She does my nails, no base coat and super thin. The french tips dont even cover all of my natural tips but whatever, its better than the last broad. 2 and a half hrs later i pay and leave. Owner gets wind of my experience and invites me back for a redo by him after I tell him that now 2 of my natural nails have broken because the shellac the first time was way too thin. So, i come in today at the time he asked. 11am. Then he asks me to come back at noon. Absolutely not. I said I'll be back at 11:30. I come back at 11:30 and he is doing someone else's nails. In between that he comes over and starts the process of removing shellac off of 2 nails that were now cracked because of the last shitty job. Then he sits me down with the same girl that did the super think shellac! The whole reason I am back! Wtf. She hacked down 2 of my nails way shorter than I liked. I am livid. She also ignored all the other issues I pointed out, got frustrated I assume and pushed me off to someone else. New girl just added a coat of shellac and sent me on my way. Worst experience ever and I will never go back! I'd be much happier paying a little more and getting exactly what I asked for. read more

So I thought I would try this new place with my mom and friend.the place is brand new ,stunning , probably one of the most beautiful nail salons I've ever been in and they had almost every colour, design, colour you could possibly imagine asked for a chelac pedi with a solid colour .the girl who's name I didn't catch was very nice and did a good job but didn't seem to understand much English so had I wanted something more complicated and less basic there may have been a a miscommunication in trying to explain ..however I also decided to get a acrylic french manicure (airbrushed)with jel overlay.I had a different girl do it.she also didn't know a whole lot of English either but knew a bit more then the last girl who had done my toes, and seemed to struggle alto doing my hands as they tend to sweat alot (wich I did mention to her.The end result was super sloppy,the nails were all uneven, some more square and some rounded, some longer some shorter, and when i went home that same night i noticed the airbrush was chipping off the sides, the jel was chunky plus she had cut my cuticle bad they were super raw.so I payed them even though I wasn't satisfied.called them an hr later scheduled to get them fixed the next day.that same night my thumb nail completely chipped right off!!! Was not impressed at all!!! So i came in the next day and had them fixed and this time I asked for white polish rather then airbrush, hoping it would be a better result).so after the girl who originally messed them up nails drilled them down , refilled them, and attempted to reconstruct the broken nail, I was passed off to another girl who painted the white french tip.after only drying it for 5 min (usually takes 20 min to dry),I then got passed back to the same first girl, she did a top coat then claimed she was done..I'm like what do you mean done?? What about the jel overlay??? So she proceeded to add the jel clearly she wasn't getting the edges , and the jel seemed very drippy and watered down.After that I left thanked them and walked out. After about 5 min later I noticed the polish bubbling underneath the jel overlay like it had not dried propperly.at this point I walked back in there and I was pissed off! They told me sorry and that they couldn't help me anymore, then refunded me 10 bucks! It seems alot more like a nail school then a professional salon with certified nail techs.they need to improve on their English , technique and professionalism and general knowledge cause if you cant even do a basic white french manicure you shouldn't be in a brand new high end salon..straight up!!! read more
