The customer service was terrible- bad English and no patience or friendliness. The environment was not comfortable, they don't care about the look of the place. Went to sparkle nail a couple times. They do an excellent job in shaping my nails and applying just the right amount of shellac. I don't like my nails too long because of my work. They're able to still make my nails look good. My friend and her Boyfriend got a pedicure and they really enjoyed the experience as well! I must say that this is the worst nail salon experience I have ever had. I'm not gonna sugar coat anything here. Their service is unbelievably terrible! My lil sister wanted her pedicure done but my go to nail salon was closed on that day so we decided to try this salon. Boy oh boy, I felt bad for my sister. So, we got there 5 minutes before her appointment time yet ended up waiting 20 minutes to get a chair (mind you that the salon wasn't even at full capacity). My sister finally was seated on one of their massage chairs but after that everything went south fast. I was waiting by the door and watching the whole thing. The lady who was attending to her had no customer service skills at all. She brought her the nail polish swatches (threw them on her lap without saying a single word). The foot basin didn't get any water for another 10 minutes or so. The nail salon staff finally started her services (so we thought) but she put a whole bunch of lotion on her legs and started rubbing her legs. The problem is the fact that she was not focusing on her customer but rather kept talking to her coworker and eating at the same time without any gloves! Disgusting!! She rubbed cheap lotion for about 20 minutes without clipping the nails, removing nail polish etc...So, after watching these things happen for an hour total I told them to stop and got my sister out of there. To add it would have cost me $8, although their price list says $10. Hygiene: I was a little taken aback by the fact the ask you to dip your hands into the paraffin bath. I'm used to people spooning it into bags and bringing it to me. It sets the germaphobe in me off, but I washed my hands before I did, and after. For a last minute pedi or mani, this is the place to go! If you call 15 mins ahead they tend to always fit you in, and walk ins usually don't have to wait too long or at all. Definitely cheaper than a fancy nail salon, and their attention to detail is appreciated. They have the big massage chairs with the foot soakers, and if you get a mani they also do paraffin wax treatment. I took my sister in law and her wedding party here and there were no complaints! Ive been coming to Sparkle for close to 3 years and its always good. The girls are very friendly and I almost never make an appt. Keep in mind this is your typical "your in, your out" nail salon. I come here to get my nails done, not for a spa like experience. This is not your botique, fancy nail spot with candles and zen like music playing in the background. If that is your cup of tea, head to Pure nail bar or Fairmont Pacific Rim. These girls are sweet, try their best with their broken english and most importantly - do an excellent job! Its dissapointing seeing people comment here about their broken english and how "all they do is speak to each other in vietnemese", give these girls a break. After the unnecessary length of time that I experienced at my last waxing, sadly, I have to reduce this thread (since that's what it's becoming) back down to my original three. Don't get me wrong; they really do try and they are nice and friendly. If you look hard enough, you can find one mag that takes place in this month and year, too. I just don't know where else to go in this vicinity or thereabouts for basic services that cost about $100 and you don't fear a cut where it shouldn't be. Yes! Since my usual nail place closed down mysteriously, I've been on the hunt for a salon that does a great cheap pedicure. A few friends recommended Sparkle Nail Salon so off I headed to fix my mangled post-San Francisco vacation feet. The colour selection is pretty average. I didn't find the colour I was looking for, but I got the second best and everyone has been complimenting me on my toes! I didn't catch her name, but the girl working on my feet did a fantastic job! She managed to make my weird little baby toenail look like a regular toenail! The staff are pleasant and efficient, and the price is great! I will be back in a few weeks. read more

This salon is by far the worst one I've gone to so far in Vancouver. I went in to get an acrylic fill, with a design. the nail tech was super unprofessional and rude to me the entire time- rushed me to look at the color swatches, didn't want to shape my nails almond shape (she threw the nail file at me and told me to do it), she then argued with me when I said that I wanted a flower design on top of French tips. I ended up paying 73$ for this service (obviously didn't tip), and I am extremely upset with how I was treated. the nails don't look too bad (aside from being a bit chunky), but I just can't believe how bad the customer service was. I started coming here monthly about 2 years ago. I use to get really bad in grown toe nails that required numerous surgical procedures and visits with the podiatrists but haven't had any since I discovered Sparkle. They do such a good job at trimming and shaping that it prevents my nails from growing back that way. They have lots of polish to choose from and it almost always lasts the entire month, even in sandal season. The atmosphere can be quite loud and bright. They are more about doing a good job in an efficient amount of time. I have had my nails done many times @ Sparkle Nails. Today was the very last time I ever go there because the nail tech was VERY RUDE and she did a terrible French manicure on me. Four of my nails are showing lines of my last nail colour through the clear part of the manicure! Early on, before she started any clear coat, I mentioned I could still see the old colour and she just stopped dead, stared me down, and said "yes I know, it's the old colour". Also, both my thumbs basically didn't get filled properly complete with large gaps along the cuticle. Very disappointing! After moving away from this neighbourhood I tried to find a nail salon like sparkle closer to me that does colour gel manicure's. I went to 3 different salons and got a very poor job done. Nothing even close to the skill of the girls at sparkle. Now I have to admit I have worked in the nail industry for 11 years and I am a picky customer. I can honestly say that every girl at sparkle has done my nails and all of them are consistent and do a beautiful job. They are quick and thorough. They have a very large shellac selection for color gels, they just added about 15 more colours recently, for a total of approx 45 colours. Shellac is in my opinion the longest lasting and shiniest brand of colour gels available. Your nails will look immaculate! Don't think twice, go to sparkle. Best nails in the city. read more

I went in and there was 8 employees sitting and playing on their phones. I asked for mani and pedi. I was treated like an object rather than a customer. It was rushed and very unpleasant experience. I paid $80 for being treated so terribly. The mani (shellac) was ok but it chipped the next day!!! Why would they rush if there was no customers there?! I came here on a recommendation from a friend. She suggested that I get the gel manicure, which is like a regular manicure done with OPI Axxium gel polish. It doesn't chip and stays shiny for over a week and it comes in many of OPI's most popular colours. I didn't end up getting that because I'm more of a french manicure type of gal and since I was starting a new job I opted for the french manicure to look more professional. But the colours looked great and my friend's manicure looked perfect even after a full week. I opted for a gel french manicure. The service was good. The ladies were really nice and let me park in the garage parking instead of paying for street parking. The lady I had was not very talkative, but she did a great job! I've been here once before for a mani-pedi combo, and I had a positive experience so I thought I'd come back for a second time. I brought a friend with me this time as we were both looking to get pedicures. We came here because another place we wanted to go to was fully booked. They take walk ins, but I called ahead to see if I could book an appointment and they said no problem. We were about 10 mins late, and they were really easy going. At about 5pm on a weekday, all the pedi chairs were occupied except for two, which were held for us. We each picked our colour and got seated right away. The Shellac colours were a bit limited, and the colour my friend chose from the palette was out of stock in their salon. She was a bit disappointed, but found another colour that was close. I opted for the regular pedicure while my friend wanted the Shellac gel with hers. It's about a $17 difference between the two, and the Shellac nail colour is supposed to stay on flawlessly for a minimum of 14 days. They offer a pretty classic pedicure with a foot soak, exfoliation, nail trim, cuticle & callous removal, followed by a short massage with lotion. The overall took about an hour, from the time we got in to when my nails dried. I had worn flats to the salon and didn't bring sandals because it was a spontaneous pedi date. But I was relieved to hear that they sold sandals. Be prepared that they may not have the prettiest sandal selection, but they're reasonably priced, and will get you home without ruining your nails. Overall service was okay. Some of the girls who work there speak minimal English, so don't expect to have full on conversations with them. This is a good fail safe place to go to if your regular spa or salon is booked. read more

I went today and got gel nails and a pedicure. I have to say I'm pretty impressed. They were very diligent and thorough. My nails look great and very natural. The girl doing my toes even painted some little snowflakes on my big toe. They really made sure my nails were even and natural looking. I'd give 5 stars for the quality of work. First off I have to say my five star rating is for a 'Nail Bar' not a 'Spa' setting. This is a no frills or ambiance location. If you want frog fountains spitting water, go somewhere else. If you want OUTSTANDING work done, this is the place. I was very nervous about this place when first hunting for a nail location and here is why. 1) I called last min trying to book an appointment for three people all at the same time. Two pedicures and a gel manucure. The first bad sign was they had no problem accommodating. 2) The gel manicure cost $39. Yikes is that possible? 3) All Asian staff that didn't speak English very well. How was I to communicate my fussy nit picky 'wants'? The reality of what happened was as follows. 1) Yup, not a lot of chat. However I have never had anyone communicate 'do you like?' or ask 'how short?' so many times. They really try hard to find out exactly what you want. 2) They had the openings for us because they are very well staffed and they work very hard. They are very focused on what they are doing and they take time to analyze their work and perfect it. I loved that! 3) They use O. P. I. products and they have a great selection of colors, artwork and gels. I like very natural nails and they hit the mark perfect. Incredibly well shaped and the gel overlay was natural and well done. I been here twice, first time was a pedicure with my girlfriend ... There was so many of them working yet we both started at different times ... I think most of the ladies there are just there to learn ... Second time I went only because they close late and I get off late, I was there for over two hour just for a shellac mani.. it should only take 45 min or an hour if there was a hand massage. It took them two hours with two different girls to do my shellac mani without a hand massage too. It was a waste of time and money, my shellac mani came out very thick and they glued my nail and fingers together because they didn't clean it. It was so uncomfortable. The staffs are not as friendly as other users have rated. I went in for medi and pedi, the girl who did my medi was rough and cut too much of my cuticles on 2 fingers. The lady who did my pedi didn't shave the extra skins on the heels or missed a step shaving the heels. I've only been once, but I'm looking forward to my next visit. I didn't have an appt, but my husband and I walked in and promptly got seated in the comfy massage chairs that are a must! After picking out our colours (he picked clear) we sat back and relaxed and enjoyed a very efficient but not rushed experience. I've been here several times, sometimes in pairs, sometimes in a bigger groups, and I've always been accomodated quickly. The only difference in service has been if they are really busy, they will move you to the regular seating area to have your nails dry. The service is very good, they do a great job on the foot massage and scrub. I've been to a few spas that barely remove any dead skin, but the technicians here are very thorough. The colors have always lasted long and they nail art is very cute (typically some sort of flower design with vines). I had a friend who requested a more intricate design and it was a little shaky, so I wouldn't necessarily get anything too complicated but their standard designs are always pretty. I've had the pedicures here, which are great, and I had a french manicure done once that was very well done as well. The technician doing my french manicure was a bit slower than normal, because I think she was inexperienced, but she did a great job. I consider this my go to place for nails, and the price is very reasonable. read more

I have been to many nail salons in Vancouver as well as LA, Atlanta, Seattle, etc. and Sparkle is by far the best. Why, oh why did I ever think I'd find a place that could replace Sparkle Nails? I moved out to Delta, and looked for a local replacement, but NOTHING beats Sparkle. Jenny, the owner, picks her people very carefully. Now, I haven't had experienced with everyone there, but I've sent loads of friends and clients who've all walked in, and come back to me with rave reviews. I think I've only had one girl who didn't totally thrill me, her mani was average. But hey, I've been going there for years now, and one out of probably hundreds of visits ain't bad! I just had Tracy do my almond shaped acrylics, and DAMN. I'm so happy. I haven't had a meticulous manicure like this in the months since I moved away. I will certainly keep making the trip in. It's worth it. Their prices are the best. Their colour selection used to leave a lot to be desired, but they've seriously stepped their game up, and the selection is now mind blowing. Sanitation? Hmmmm, questionable. I work in the beauty industry, and I know what's required, and the standards don't look like they're quite being met. HOWEVER- I do see little boxes in the back with tools for returning clients. If you plan on frequenting like I do, I'd ask for one of those. Then it's only your germs. You massively reduce the odds of cross contamination. I usually just close my eyes and hope for the best. And I've never had a problem. I think that fact that they're super gentle, and have never cut me has a big part in that. Long story short, this place is pretty rad. I give it five stars, without hesitation. read more

I went there twice, once for a pedicure and once for a manicure. The pedicure was great - the girl did a really great job, especially considering my weird toenails. She really spent time shaping them and dealing with an ingrown nail on one foot. The polish lasted a really long time, and I was quite suprised about that. That's why I went there again when I needed a manicure... Not a great idea... The girl who did my nails barely paid attention to what she was doing, spent most of her time checking her phone or the TV and I felt more like a hindrance than a customer. She didn't shape my nails the way I wanted - but I though I'd let it go since my nails were pretty short. The polish application was awkward and she flooded my cuticles on several nails (I understand that this can happen, though usually the person will remove the extra polish or do a clean-up at the end), cuticules that had been handled kind of roughly. I left the salon around 11am and by the end of the day, my polish was showing tip wear. Though I will consider them for a pedicure - they're cheap and close to where I live - I will not be going back for a regular manicure. read more

This is my third visit. A year since my last visit - where I had a poor experience with a nail technician. I returned because it is close to home and I was hoping it improved = NO. Had mani/pedi done at the same time. The pedicure was okay but my arms were uncomfortably crossed over to reach the manicurist, balancing the gel machine on my legs as it slipped around my knees. Not a nice experience. The quality of the manicure is very poor. With a chipped nail the next day - I wonder why with that gel machine sliding every which way. I asked for a manicure: turquoise sparkly gel nails with rounded tips. The nails are what I asked for, but The paint job was sloppy. I can see parts of my nails through the polish. The lady doing my nails didn't speak to me at all aside from telling me what to do with my hands. She also repeatedly (accidentally) scratched my cuticles with the electric nail file. My cuticles received no care whatsoever. This wasn't a manicure, this was a cheap gel job. On top of all that, the towel she had me rest my hands on was dirty and had someone else's nail trimmings on it. I got what I asked for but the quality wasn't worth the $60 and I absolutely didn't feel welcome. Will not be going back. read more

Sparkle nails is my go to for mani and pedi. Jenny and Janet always remember my name and always ask about my family and are lovely to my teenagers. The prices are reasonable and there are student discounts. The layout is simple - long rows of clean chairs and basins on one end and manicure tables on the other side. It's fun to come with friends but if not you either run into people you know or talk to the (usually) friendly person in the next chair. Not everyone provides the exact same quality pedicure but out of 30 I think I've only had one I didn't like and didn't last. Oh and on one time I didn't like the colour that I chose, they gave me a polish change for free. Highly recommend. read more
