Although I haven´t repeated technician, I have no complains at all...weird! They must be extremely picky when hiring staff because they treat nails like art. Having good-looking hands is a pricey beauty investment ($100+ a month for mani-pedi shellac), so I really appreciate when my money is worth. The confidence on their crew´s skills is evident, they offer a 7 days guarantee: no frowning faces if you call to complain about chipped nails. The massage chairs are trendy with a cheerful orange colour. They give coffee&tea within a zen ambiance. I like the variety of nail polishes and the politeness of the girls. You´ll need to make an appointment, sometimes they don´t answer right away because they´re usually busy, but they do call back if you leave a message. read more

So happy I came back ! I have been in search of a salon to become my regular spot, and I believe this is it !! Lisa was my nail tech again. She is very friendly and super talented. She has precision and pays special attention to detail. I brought my GF with me. She is very picky and after we were done she messaged me saying "best nails ever! " ( Joy did her nails ) my husband said the exact same thing when he saw mine! They have a huge selection/ variety of different nail art styles to choose from. Bring in a photo or let them help you decide. I got a combination of chrome and glass ( Mylar ) with a skull charm and a big bow charm on the other hand. Very pleased with the results. It took a bit longer then I would like, but the results were worth it and having my friend there getting hers done beside me made time go by quickly. The salon is very clean and well organized. Very hygienic. Lots of samples to chose from. Can't wait to bring my husband there with me for a pedicure ! ( boy does he sure need one ! ) The price for MY nails before tip was **153$ . She was great to let me know cost before proceeding ( which is awesome as many I have done to don't do this ) It may seem pricy but the quote "cheap is never good and good is never cheap" comes to mind. Last set of nails I got ( in Vegas at the spa at the Mirage ) were way more expensive, for basic nails that peeled, had bumps under one nail and no nail art at all. For what Lisa did, it was well worth it !! ** this does not reflect the price of ALL nail sets, I had gel nails, plus the chrome overlay, plus the "glass" /milar overlay (which she hand cut and placed on my nails ) plus 1 XL charm and another L charm both with crystals on them ) Very happy and will return and defiantly recommend! This establishment was recommended by a friend as she says the woman here do meticulous work. Always make an appointment, I don't think they do walk-ins. Everything is very clean and very spacious. They have many seats for pedicures and only four for manicures. It's more expensive than what I usually pay. All in including gel polish was approximately $60. My biggest complaint - parking. It was terrible and took me a half hour to find a spot. The salon is located just before the Granville street bridge. There are metered parking spots in front of the salon but they are very few. I probably will not go back only because of the lack of parking, cost and the no walk-ins. If you live close by it maybe a good go to place. read more

You can't get any worse than Minoko Nail Studio. Everything about this place SUCKS. From its filthy appearance to its unprofessional employees, Minoko is obviously not a client-centered business at all. The employees are the epitome of ridiculous. It's so frustrating to watch how unfocused, disorganized and slow they all are. I did NOT get a relaxing, efficient experience here, so you won't either! Parking is a nightmare. There is none, except street parking. They literally told me to park outside 7-11 lol. As soon as I walked in, I immediately noticed how dirty the nail salon is. The employees were scattered, running around like chickens without heads and made me wait 20 minutes before sending me to the pedicure chair. Keep in mind, there were no other clients besides me in the salon. Yuka moves at a snail's pace. It took her 40 minutes to remove my gel polish on JUST my toes. When I was finally over it and had enough, I clearly told Yuka I would not be getting my nails done there. In front of me, Yuka told her boss that I thought the prices were "too high." I never said that. I'm a tourist; of course I had lots of money to spend on my nails. I also get my nails done regularly in the U.S. (and have been for years), so I know how nail salons are supposed to work. The pricing on their website is not honored. When you come in, they tell you everything is more expensive than the online pricing. Unlike other places, they charge extra for EVERY little thing. They even charge additional for gel removal when you're getting a gel mani/pedi. It's just so stupid, I just laugh thinking about it! Yuka's boss was persistent in trying to get me to stay (she just wanted my money) as I got up to leave. She told me to have a seat at the manicure station. I confronted her and told her she heard I would not be giving them my business. Then, Yuka's boss refused to honor the online discount broadcasted all over their website. I repeated myself saying I was requesting to use the discount, and Yuka's boss finally told Yuka to honor the discount. My advice to you? Don't waste your time or money here. I don't think I've ever been this angry when visiting a nail salon, other than when I came to Minoko. Needless to say, I will NEVER be back! read more

Legitimately the best manicure and manicure experience I've ever had! I opted for a French shellac manicure with nail art on my ring fingers, and my manicurist was an absolute dream. Although the overall experience took a little longer than most that I've had, I attribute this completely to her perfectionism (which was GREATLY appreciated). She checked that every nail was perfectly even and to my satisfaction. I really enjoyed not feeling like she was rushing to get me in and out of there, in contrast to a lot of places I've been in Vancouver. I think the end result is probably the first time I've ever been 100% satisfied with the appearance of a manicure. The salon itself is extremely bright and clean-looking. The interior is mostly white, so I was definitely impressed by how impeccable all of the surfaces were. Definitely no sense of the shadiness which sometimes appears in more affordable places. On that note- I was also very pleased with how reasonable the rates were. Overall, I had a fantastic time and left with fantastic nails. Will be back here for sure! read more

We walked in on vacation and got in right away. The chairs were different, but very comfortable. The ladies working on our feet were really nice, and paid a lot of attention to detail. I first found Minoko by making an appointment at the Kingsway location. It was there that I met Joy. When they opened the Granville location and Joy moved there, I gladly followed and have been a faithful patron of her skills ever since. I have searched near and far for a nail tech who provides the quality that matches the cost and I am extremely satisfied with Joy's work and dedication to the craft in the years I have known her. Ummm it took 2 hours to get a shellac manicure. The lady doesn't speak any English so it was difficult to communicate that I wanted a rounded square shape. I was informed that it will cost an additional $10 for shellac polish removal so I inquired if I came back to re-do my nails would that cost still apply. The lady said yes and that it doesn't matter where I get the shellac done but as long as they need to remove it, they will charge me the extra $10. Weird! I go to e-style all the time and they do not charge for shellac removal if you get your nails done at their studio. I won't be returning again unfortunately. read more

I would not have discovered this little gem if it weren't for SocialShopper (thank you)! The place that I normally go to was unable to accommodate me and my girlfriends at such short notice so I thought it would be a good time to explore. Although we were a little late, we were greeted with friendly smiles :) My sister and I got UV gel extensions while my friend received a manicure plus shellac/gelish polish, nail art and a paraffin treatment. My session was a little over an hour- which is typical (if not faster) than most places I have been to, and she did a wonderful job! The technicians also checked in with us every so often to make sure we were satisfied with the length, shape and look of our nails and they were very genuine and polite throughout the entire time! This location is fairly new, having been open for only a few months, but the place was clean and welcoming! The price is decent, especially for the work that they do. If you're looking for biosculpture, this isn't the place to go. They don't use the vitamin or protein dose or carry any of the biosculpture colours. They used a biosculpture base coat and then use a shellac polish for the colour and a shellac top coat. Not what I expected or paid for, misleading advertising for sure. read more

First time going into nail salon having to pay four different price for removing soft gel, applying clear gel colour on top of gel then sparkles! No design nothing complicated colour and sparkles paid over $300 for a mani pedi. I've been getting nails done at Japanese salon for years and my god it's first time where when you tell them I'd like soft gel there was four seperate charging! When asked why didn't you tell me pricing earlier the lady answered I forgot. LOL just an honest review. Make sure you ask before doing anything with them. I've been coming here for over 2 years. Joy and Lisa do my nails and they are both wonderful! They care about their craft a lot and won't let you leave with anything you're unhappy with. If anything happens and you break a nail in the next few days, just come back and they'll fix it for you! One time I didn't like my design (which rarely happens) and they scheduled another appointment for me ASAP to get the full set completely redone :) I couldn't recommend them enough if you want "special" nails (IE marble - ask for Lisa! She's such an artist it's amazing). The salon is always sparkly clean and they take great care of all their clients. I would recommend calling a few days in advance to book an appointment because it can be hard to get the exact time slot you want. read more

I'm a regular at their Burnaby location, but I had a broken nail I was desperate to fix and since I work downtown, I thought it would be a good opportunity to visit their Granville location. I had my nails done by Joy and she was very sweet and gentle throughout the process. Even though my appointment ran past their closing time, I didn't once feel rushed. Joy was very meticulous with shaping and painting my extensions. I have visited numerous nail salons in the past and I have yet to find another place that rivals Minoko's quality. The technicians at Minoko take longer than average to complete their services (i.e. approximately two hours for a fill, three hours for a full set) and they're pricier; however, I only need to come in once a month. The sides don't lift, the paint doesn't chip, and my nails look as natural as extensions can look. In the end, I find I'm saving more money by getting my nails done at Minoko compared to a "cheaper" salon that would require me to come back every two weeks. read more

this review is for Apr 2015 Easter long weekend. first time ever having shellac manicure as I bought a Socialshopper. LOVE IT! I had Claire doing my nails; love how she concentrated on the work instead of being too chatty.. personally I prefer having a quiet moment as it can give myself a break from the week's work and also let the nail technician focus on her work. I arrived on time to my appointment, but they were behind (they tried to call me to let me know, but I was having a massage at that time so I was not able to answer their call), they sincerely apologized for my wait and did not charge me extra for my two glitter nails. Claire didn't rush things and I did not feel the salon rushed me out. Very nice and detailed work done by Claire! I have been trying a different nail salon twice lately since it is closer to my home, but still cannot achieve what I had from Minoko! I just referred a friend to Minoko and she loves it too! I got my nails done at Minoko 3 weeks ago to the date - A gel manicure with some funky design and I am so pleased to say that there is not a single chip to date, which is unpredecented with my previous manicures. I am definitely impressed by the staying power - they do very good work! I was also able to get an appointment same day, which I really appreciated. Another positive is that the salon isn't as busy as the regular place I go to, so it was actually a really nice and relaxing experience for me :) Now, one thing I will advise anybody thinking of going to get their nails done here, if you're going for a design, be prepared to invest at least $60 for a manicure. If you are budget conscious, try to get the total cost for what you want done UP FRONT because this place definitely dings you with a lot of 'extra costs' - for example, if you want a proper manicure with cuticle trimming and the works, that is extra. Also for any custom nail work you get done, the charge is PER nail and varies depending on what you want done. I did go in expecting a higher cost and that I wanted to treat myself, but I never truly had any idea what the cost would be until the end when I went to pay. Bottom line: This place is an excellent place to go if you want to do something very cool and treat yourself! I have had many gel manicures in my day and have never had one last this long without starting to chip. If you have friends that have been there in the past, they do have a really cool loyalty program where you can give a first time customer $10 off their visit and then you get $10 off your next 3 visits for the referral, which I thought was super cool! read more

I got a set of gels for a trip to vegas and LOVED them! They lasted so long and I got tons of compliments on them. Joy shaped them to perfection and her painting was amazing. I loved them so much I couldn't take my eyes of my nails the whole trip! I will definitely be back when I go on a trip again! They are on the expensive side though, my gels came to over $100 with tip. They charge extra for a lot of things so make sure you double check the price before they start doing your nails. CUSTOMER BEWARE!!!!! I went to the Granville location to get a full set of UV gel nails before my wedding and it was the worse experience ever!!! The girl that helped me told me it was $59 and that is the price of a "Master" Artist (Junior Artist price would be $49). Having said that, it was not work of a "Master" artist at all. While buffing out the gel that was placed on top of my nails with a sand paper spinning tool I had 5 fingers and 1 thumb that was all raw from the sanding. it was so painful and when I asked them about it, she did apologize. At the time I thought, damage was already done. She said that after my pedicure was done, I could wash my hands and she can put some cuticle oil on it. I was more hoping for disinfectant since my skin was all sanded down and cut. When it came time to pay, I was handing them my credit card and my thumb started bleeding non-stop. I asked for a tissue and they didn't even want to knowledge what had happened which was very disappointing. This was a more expensive place and I though customer service would be way better. I had to be like "I don't think my fingers should be bleeding after a nail session". The girl helping me had to get her supervisor and in Mandarin, the supervisor told the girl, you did it too deep. After the whole ordeal, they still wanted to change me full price but I told them I don't feel like I should pay for this. so in the end they said they would just charge for the pedicure. Which was fine, but I will not be back. My fingers hurt for a week after, it hurt every time I washed my hands and it hurt on my wedding day. WORSE EXPERIENCE EVER!!! there are a million and one places out there to get your nails done. After cutting me with their tools I did not see them throw anything away. Which is an EXTREMELY unsanitary and unsafe practice. read more
