I contacted Chi Nails on May 11, 2025, to ask if they accepted gift cards from Giftly. The listing showed their New Westminster, BC location, with the correct phone number, address, and photos, but the payment was in U.S. dollars, which seemed odd. I called to confirm, and a staff member assured me they accepted Giftly, so we went ahead and purchased the cards. In the third week of June, my in-laws tried to use the gift cards, but were told they weren't valid. It felt like a complete scam. I called again, and the response was indifferent they didn't seem concerned at all. I was frustrated, but tried to stay polite. How can a legitimate business allow this kind of confusion? If they don't accept Giftly, they should make that clear or take steps to remove or clarify the listing. And if someone else is misusing their business info, they should at least be aware of it. What's even more frustrating is that someone told me on the phone they did accept Giftly was that misinformation, or a misunderstanding? This situation caused unnecessary stress, and luckily we got the reimbursement for the credit card directly with Giftly. I hope Chi Nails takes better care to manage how their business is represented online and ensures their staff is better informed. read more

I have been coming here to do my nails for several years now. Then I moved away and it was no longer nearby. I happened to be in the area recently and managed to get a walk in appointment. It was usually very busy and definitely best to call in advance for a slot. This was my first visit since covid hit and the safety protocols were in place. Hand sanitizer upon entering. Alternate seating. Movable plexiglass which made sense as they would be easier to clean too. The nail technicians are very good here and I am always pleased with the results. After trying a couple of other places where they were less than stellar, I guess I should make an effort to travel back to New West to have my pedicure. Since it is in the same plaza as IT Char burger, I can kill two birds with one stone. Pedicure and burger. Winning combination. Friendly staff and reasonable prices (thankfully no increase). Everything is on point at Chi Nails! The hot stone massage is luxuriously lengthy and skillfully done. This is for the pedicure which I got shellac. However, the manicure also involved a deliciously fruity scented massage. The salon is well ventilated with comfortable chairs and welcoming staff. English is prevalent and they have adequate staff so that I was able to have a pedicure & manicure simultaneously. The icing on the cake is how reasonably priced it is. Gels, shellac...it is a full service salon. I waited a bit to make sure the nails are lasting well and they are still flawlessly going strong 1.5 weeks later. read more

Chi Nails is a 30 second drive from my house and I am scratching my head wondering why I haven't gone here until today! I previously frequented Apex in Sapperton but the terrible street parking and their inconsistency with their open hours turned me off from coming back. (Apex is still a decent salon for what it's worth!) Chi Nails is the most professional and efficient nail salon I've been to. Their workers wear cute uniforms, masks and gloves. The place is well ventilated and decor is minimal but aesthetically pleasing. There are plenty of both mani & pedi stations and a LOT of girls working! My best friend and I went, I got a shellac mani and she got a full mani/pedi. I don't remember the name of the girl who did my nails but man she was quick & my nails turned out just the way I wanted them to! My friend had two girls working on her all at once! We both are raving about their massages and she says that the pedi (w/ massage and hot stones) is amazing! There are a few reasons why I did not give a full star but also why I only took one star off: - Our appointment was moved to a later time. But Henry gave us a call 20 minutes before our appointment and asked if it was ok for us to come a few minutes later. Once we got there, we were promptly taken in! - I went back and forth between 2 stations before being settled into the original station I was at. However, they were very apologetic and helped me move my things. - The nail technician did one of my friend's toes 5 times! Every time the polish would bubble. My friend didn't have to say anything, they made sure that we left with great looking nails! Despite the slight inconveniences, their customer service made up for it! My girlfriend and I went at the same time - kinda' a Saturday treat for ourselves. Not only did the woman not complete the work on my friend's left toes, she and the woman that had done my feet - got up and left us on our own in the end!! In fact, they sat with their backs to us tending to other customers. We ended-up removing our own toe dividers and left without even mentioning a tip. I called the nail salon at 11:30am asking if i can come in today to get solar nails done. They said yes and i made an appointment at 2pm. I also asked if "natural" nails included the color, and they said ya and everything included is $45. When i went in around 2pm, no one was at the counter. After few minutes, someone came over and asked if made an appointment. I confirmed it and the lady pointed at another lady inside the salon. When i walked over to her, she pointed at the chair and i sat down. She did not greet me and she so did not look like wanted to be there. Then, when she sat down, she did not tell me what she was doing and started doing my cuticles. SHE CUT WAY TOO MUCH. 3 OF MY FINGERS STARTED BLEEDING. She didnt apologize and said some excuses, which i couldnt understand... Then she asked me if i wanted colors and i said yes! And told me that it actually costs extra for colors... I was like uhh..ok.. (I ended up getting gel for extra $10) Her name was nina,,i think During the whole service, my nail technician looked grumpy to the point where i felt uncomfortable. Her attitude was pretty rude. There was barely any communication involved and i felt kind of lost during the service. She couldn't speak english very well so it was kind of hard to explain to her what i wanted. Plus, this spa looked pretty unsanitary. I went to blanche macdonald for esthetics and we also learned about nails. They did not look like they were sanitizing their metal equipments properly and definitely did not use disposable buffers or files. (*you dont know if the person before you have fungus or something dangerous that can transfer through blood!) Overall, the finished work looked okay (3.8/5) but sevice and sanitary of this place was horrible. I would not come back here. I really wanted to give this place a 5 star after my friend gave a glowing review on Yelp, but I simply can't. My friend and I made an appointment for a shellac manicure and pedicure at 11:30 respectively, but neither of us were seen by a nail technician until at least noon. The owner (I presume) told us they were busy and basically gave us a tray of nail polish colors to pick from to help us kill time for half an hour. Service: My nail technician wasn't into small talks, which is perfectly fine with me. She was somewhat unpleasant and kept complaining how busy they were. The only time she appeared remotely interested in me was when she asked me where I was from. Simply giving her the name of the city in Canada was apparently not good enough. She kept digging for information and was only satisfied when I confirmed that I am not Vietnamese and do not understand Vietnamese. She then proceeded to speak to her colleagues in Vietnamese the entire time. I picked 2 shellac colors for my manicure because I like to mix it up, and my nail technician laughed at me like it was the most absurd thing in the world. When she was finished doing my nails, I noticed an air bubble on one of my nails and asked her to put a bead on it to cover it. The bead fell off the same night... Observation: My nail technician and half the nail technicians working there were distracted, but not due to the usual gossips. It occurred every time the cash register opened/client was paying. They literally stared and yelled at the owner in Vietnamese until he comes around and gives them their portion of their tips in cash whenever a client pays. I have never observed this in any nail salon, so either this particular nail salon employs a large number of overly curious, distracted nail technicians or there is some major sketchy financial issues going on. Overall: Average paint job. Mediocre service. I would only recommend this place if you are really desperate. read more

I have a usual nail spot but decided to try chi nails because my usual place is hit and miss with the quality. This place had good reviews and was closer to my house so I decided to try it even though some services cost more. I was very surprised to see that at every mani station there was a chemical purifying fan. Every single nail salon i've visited smells of the chemicals they use on the fake nails. I was impressed that there was no chemical smell in there!! I had a shellac mani and my sister in law had an acrylic fill. My girl was very polite and gentle. She did a great job and was very thorough. I was happy with the quality of her work. The massage she gave me was nice as well. My sister in law got a fill and the lady that helped her was very fast. You could tell that she was a pro! She finished just after me and she did a very good job. This place was super packed. Make sure you make an appt. I won't be returning to my usual nail spot. Went to this place to get a basic manicure. Didn't have high expectations for service. It's the kind of place where the ladies ignore you completely during your service but they're fast and they're cheap so good if you're looking for that. However today I had a particular issue that may affect whether I go back or not. I went in for a basic manicure and already had polish on my nails. One nail on each hand had glitter polish which can easily be removed with remover but with just a little more effort than regular polish. The woman removed my polish in a very sloppy manner and then got out an electric drill buffer looking tool. She was about to use it on my glitter nail until I said "oh no, please don't" in a very polite way to which she IGNORED me and proceeded to use it anyway on both nails that had glitter on it, convincing me that it was "too hard to remove." I was really mad that she ignored the only request I had. I don't want drills touching my nails when there's no reason for it and she didn't respect that at all. Totally not okay! read more

I've had the gel polish manicure done here on multiple occasions, plus a regular pedicure, and the service and prices are fabulous. I don't even have much to say because every time I've gone I've left happy -- no bleeding cuticles, no nail polish on my skin, no missed spots -- just nice, beautiful nails. They have tons of colours, work efficiently, and charge the cheapest price I've seen so far for gel polish. I went here after a horrible and horrifying experience at Coral Nail Salon and I was more than satisfied, I was so happy that they are soooo close to my house and they were extremely accommodating! My nail artist was Tony, he was knowledgeable and real, you can just tell he cares and he makes it a point to give you the best customer experience possible! Chi Nails gives excellent service, takes time, care, and gave me exactly what I wanted. They are a bit off the beaten path so much I didn't notice them in my neighbourhood but I'm glad I found them. Again, the staff were friendly, they had an amazing selection of polish, and did a wonderful job on my pedicure which is lasting. They took time to give me a massage and the full service even though I arrived slightly closer to closing time so I was very grateful. Don't let their bit lower prices turn you off either, it just allows you to tip them more for what they deserve!! read more

I have been consistently coming to Chi Nails to get shellac manis and pedis and they never fail to disappoint. I never wait long even though they are always busy, and never had to wait more than 10 minutes even when I don't have an appointment. worst nails I've ever had, got them done on Sunday....and by Monday there were three chips. By Tuesday every nail had chipped. I went back on Tuesday to show them, because lets face it.....a manicure should last more than a day. Terrible service. Honestly I'm not the type to rag on anyone in customer service; I have a lot of respect for people in customer service. However the amount of money I paid and the results is insulting. My nails were not even properly filled it looks like they have already grown out 3-5 days. I didn't realize until I got home that the lengths of my nails are uneven as well. I also chose a specific colour and they started painting the incorrect paint??? I asked for the paint I had chosen and they just flatly said "no, sorry, don't know where it is." My experience was so horrible it's humorous.
