Went there on a Wednesday evening to get my shellac manicure and pedicure done. It was easy to get a reservation with them and they were very quick to respond. I changed my mind and didn't end up getting a manicure. However, I got the shellac pedicure which came up to $64 without tip. I thought that was a bit pricey. I've had some hit or miss experiences with different salons since I started going for mani/pedis a few years ago. For one thing, most are not geared towards men which is understandable. These services don't come cheap, so I've done my fair of research. Crafty was recommended to me and sounded like it would be a good fit. They've got a tidy location across the street and close to Sport Chek on Broadway. I decided to walk in without an appointment and was in luck on a Saturday when they weren't too busy. First impression : bright and airy. I was served right away and directed to a chair near the front. The massage chair was fairly standard with options for back/shoulder/neck massage. I was a bit surprised not to be offered tea but it didn't seem like the other clientele were either. My combined service took a little over half an hour as both the mani/pedi were completed simultaneously. Staff were not chatty at all which was fine with me, if a bit awkward. They do have the option here of an "express" mani/pedi if you're short on time and want to skip the hand/foot massage and other little extras. I decided to get the full experience as it had been awhile and felt a little pampering was in order. Overall, I think they did a great job and I wouldn't hesitate to go back. For $66 excluding tip, it's a few dollars more than I'm used to for this but the attention to detail was good and I'm pleased that I made the trip. I recently moved from New York to Vancouver and was in the mood for a gel-x manicure. I called to make the appointment and the person taking the call must have misheard me, because when I came in, they thought I was just doing gel polish even though I asked for gel-x over the phone. They said I'd have to wait, but they ended up being able to take me almost right away. (I came in early, so technically my appointment started pretty much on time!) Despite the miscommunication, they did a great job on the design. Plus, coming from New York, I was super happy with the price, but I'm not sure how it compares to other nail salons in Vancouver. I would also note that they were painting the walls when I came in, so it definitely still smelled like paint... I would have preferred if they painted when they weren't taking customers :/ Overall, I'm happy with my experience and will definitely be coming back. This is an update from my previous experience. The shop called and asked me to come in for them to fix it. So I am giving them 3 stars. However air bubbles showed up again! Thankfully I decided to go with sparkles because it hides more. I know that they tried and I appreciate their effort to fix it. But it was a disappointing experience and there are shops that have better value with better services. ------------ Oh man. I came here with excitement based on high reviews by everyone. It's near my work and I thought this would be perfect quick break whenever I needed it. Sad to say, I am so so disappointed. Compared to my usual spot in point grey, the pricing is 2X. If it offered better service, I'd understand but it didn't. It had less service and the technicians don't pay attention. I noticed an air bubble on one of the nail so I asked them to fix it right away but soon after I noticed air bubbles on two other nails. I also broke out in hives from the lotion they use for massage and their towels were heavily scented. when I made the appoint they asked if I could come 30 mins earlier than I had requested and so I did. However, it clearly was to squeeze me in between other appointments and I got 3rd rate treatment. The manicure was fine but the pedicure is the worst I've ever had. The person who did my pedicure gave the fastest pedicure in history, completely done including polish in 20 mins. She rushed all the stages, barely massaging me, hot stone for 30 seconds, but the worst was she did an awful job on my skin, my heels are as dry and cracked as they were when I went in. She didn't remove any of the dead skin. Other people who were already there when I arrived were still having their pedicures when she finished mine. Clearly they didn't care that I had paid for the full service. I think they seem to focus on nails and nail art, if you want a great mani-pedi that you feel relaxed and pampered after THIS IS NOT THE PLACE. read more

It's been my third time here. I usually have Mandy to do my nails. However, I went out on a whim and decided to go with someone else since Mandy was unavailable today. My nail tech Haley is amazing! I absolutely love how she works. She was careful, paid attention to details, and is very knowledgeable with her work. She asks if you like her work through each step of the way and wants for you to be happy with the end result. I would definitely recommend her if Mandy is not available. I've been getting my nails done for years and I've gone to many nail salons and private home studios but none were ever good enough that i would go back more than once or twice. But guess what? I've finally found and settled at Crafty! I found this place on Valentine's Day of this year and I'm so glad I did because have you seen Mandy's work? Look at the photos I've attached and check her Instagram. She's amazing at what she does! Every time I show her a picture of what I want, she does it even better. Not everyone can do everything you ask for but Mandy definitely can. She will make sure to stop and ask if you if you like the shape or if there's anything you'd like differently. Making sure you leave satisfied and impressed. The service is also what makes the place great! Most of the workers there are young and came from Vietnam last year. It's nice communicating with them because it helps them practice their English. I love the fact that if it's not too busy, they will come around and watch Mandy do magic on my nails. They'll even go LIVE on Instagram and take photos after to post. They're all so sweet and they're learning from the best! My appointments are usually last minute but they always have time to fit me in. I sometimes come with my boyfriend and he loves getting a pedicure/foot massage. I went there for a mani + pedi. Pedicure was really nice but manicure was terrible. For a simple colour, she didn't even start from the end of the nail and already looks like my nails have been growing. 4 ppl were working there and no one could draw a strawberry. They didn't even have stickers. Do i just asked fir a simple gold line which they couldn't do. The person in charge finally took over and drew an ugly yellow not straight line. I was really surpised by this place! I went in because I needed an emergency manicure - it's a thing! I was filming for something the next day and they told me at 4pm on a Friday that I needed to change my manicure, but I have gel nails (the fake nails, not shellac) and they need to use a dremel drill to take them off properly and then do a whole proper fill. It is VERY difficult to find a salon that does this well on a regular day, let alone at the end of the week on a Friday. My regular manicurist wasn't available (Haus of Lacquer) so last minute BUT Crafty had availability and the girl that did them was amazing. I was anxious that she'd dremel too much, or hack my old nails off, and I didn't know if they did gel fills, but alas, I was pleasantly surprised that everything was done quite well. I was in and out in maybe about an hour and fifteen and the whole thing was $48. Amazing. The manicure itself is quite simple and I probably would have like another coat of polish, and my shape is basic, but I was happy with the price, length of time it took, and the ability of the salon to meet my needs last minute. read more

I bounced around nail places for a bunch of years but I go to Crafty exclusively now. I love it. I don't get my nails done super super frequently but I love to get a set for a holiday or to go for mani/pedis with my partner sometimes. Crafty has amazing artists and all the workers are funny and sweet. I have gotten some more complex nail art here (which they freehanded from a picture on my phone) and also simple services. This unassuming nail bar is full of talented staff and is priced very fair for the city. During covid it's clear how they are taking more precautions to keep us all safe and I'm glad, because I hope to keep coming for a long time read more

I got my nails done a little over a week ago with Mandy for a full set. I work down the block and a few of my coworkers recommended this salon. Their pricing is very cheap compared to many other salons, so I came in with a photo of a beautiful set I didn't want to travel to Richmond for and she did an excellent job getting it to look like the photo. However during my shift yesterday I randomly had an artificial nail break in half. I don't do anything that hard on my hands at work being behind a bar or running food so called in for a repair. I got held back at work so missed my appointment but won't be returning as most of my nails were either lifting or peeling. I've gone to many salons and have gotten my nails done plenty of times, but this has never happened before. I was actually able to lift them all off and as you can see from the photo, one would think I had press on nails. read more

After perusing Yelp reviews for one of the best spots close to a high tea appointment, I came across Crafty Nail Bar! I contacted them via email for appointments, and even though they were closed, responded within about an hour! My mom and I were both booked for a Deluxe Pedicure, and it did not disappoint! I don't know if it was because we were there on a Wednesday around midday, or if the deluxe always get a super thorough leg massage, but we were very impressed! It felt like we got 15 minute leg massages, and then hot stones! I will definitely be going back, all the ladies were very nice, attentive, and there were lots of options for nail polish colour. Absolutely amazing place with a huuuge selection of colours! It's so rare for places to keep up with trends and always have new colours or glitters to show. They have over 100 gel colours to pick from and also many many different kinds of gems for choosing. I came in at 5, they close at 6. It was kind of anxiety inducing because they didn't ask what I wanted. After about 30min of cleaning and shaping my nails they asked if I was sure about the nail colour I chose. That's when I told them I wanted the heart design. They really rushed it. Around 6 all the girls began changing out of their work clothes (which is understandable, it just made me feel bad). We finished around 6:05. Some of the hearts are really drippy looking. It's not neat and there are a lot of bubbles. It started to chip when I got home and some of it wasn't painted smoothly either. Their website says $18 for a manicure but they charged me $30. The staff was polite though, a bit hard to hear their soft voices. read more

Completely disappointed with this facility. The nails in the pictures look nothing like what they actually do. I asked for long, coffin nails and not only are the acrylics shorter than what my original nail length was, they're also incredibly crooked. To make matters worse I was charged 2x more than what I expected to pay according to their pricing list. The owner Mandy is extremely kind and remembers me each time I've gone back. Her staff are also very sweet and considerate. It's my go-to pedicure spot now and I recommend it to all my friends. Even brought my mother-in-law with me once! They also play like YouTube clips of the "Best Of" The Voice, which is charming and I can't help but watch from my massage chair.
