I've been coming to this nail salon since I was a teenager, so I wanted to share some honest feedback because I've always valued my experience here. Lately, it feels much more busy and rushed, and unfortunately my recent manicure reflected that. The appointment was completed in around 30 minutes, which felt unusually quick, and several steps seemed to be missed. My nails weren't cleaned underneath, I didn't receive the hand massage that's normally included, and although I paid an extra $10 for cuticle care, my cuticles still did not look properly done afterward. Considering the total came to around $70, I left feeling disappointed with the overall quality and attention to detail. I stumbled onto this place just walking around the neighborhood. I stopped in to make an appointment because I needed a hard gel fill. They were able to get me in right then. My nail technician was Chloe. She was so sweet and she did an amazing job. Better than anyone I've had for a long time. She kept checking to make sure I liked the shape of my nails. Yaletown Nail Spa is one of the salons I frequent whenever I need a last minute fill or new set. They're very accommodating; even if I call day of, they always try to squeeze me in. Price point here is very reasonable for the Yaletown area and that's what keeps me coming back. The quality of the manicure is dependent on who you happen to get that day - I'd recommend Li if you can request her as she seems to be the most meticulous with the shaping. However, service can be rather brusque. Yaletown Nail Spa is definitely not a place you go for a relaxing, pampering experience. I've also gotten cut while having my nails shaped a few times, but they're always very apologetic and offer me a discount. The staff was nice, but they were really busy and looked annoyed that i didn't want shellac or gels. I got a regular acrylic set. My nails looked just ok.... Not great. Especially up close (see the picture). My nails weren't fully dry when they asked me to pay, but they needed my table... hence the gash on one nail. The others are just the way she left them. Edit: One nail broke on day 2 and another was lifting. Went back and not only did they fix the broken one but all the others too. They looked better but not great and it wasn't long before they started to come up again. read more

After a disastrous time at another nail place (see preceding review) I had cracked 3 nails in under a week-breaking 2 right off. I don't know why I had never come across this place before - I sure wish I had! I guess it's because I don't normally go that far south on Hamilton Street. A girl who was working at Victoria Secret actually was the one who told me about it. The Sunday hours said closed at 6, but I was able to call in at 5 and still book a time to come in. The salon itself has to be the nicest one I have been to so far in Vancouver. It's tastefully decorated and everything matched. The person who did my nails name is Steven. I am hoping he will be my new go to nail guy. He repaired and matched up my nails so well and rather quickly. Hr was professional and polite. The girls I met working there were friendly and smiling And showed me the selection of nail art bows to chose from for next time. They were playing music videos on The TV which helped pass the time. Price of 3 nails repaired, French with gel polish and a touch of nail art to match the others ? Only 18.90 including tax . I have him 25.$ and walked out very happy. I would give 5 stars, but I will see how they do when I return for a fill or full set and pedicure, I would much rather update and add a star - then have to take one away so today I give a 4,5 /5 Thank You Steven! I was referred to this nail salon by a terrific hair stylist downtown, and since my nails looked like they've been through a wood chipper, I decided to call them right away for an appointment. I saw on their website that they offer a full set of acrylics for $36, and I thought that was a reasonable price, so I called and asked for an experienced tech (my nails are so messed up, I really need someone who knows what they're doing). I was told to come by in an hour. I arrived a bit early but was pleasantly surprised to be seen right away. My tech was Anna and she was excellent! I liked the vibe of the place, with its exposed red brick walls and a few wall-mounted tvs showing music videos. (This was a vast improvement of some of the videos I've seen playing in other salons. Once I was shocked to see playing footage of wild animals hunting and killing and eating other animals! I kid you not! Other salons have showed golfing events - yawn - and some, pseudo-porn movies. Don't ask!). Anyhow, the music videos were just fine, and I also liked how I was asked a few times by the ladies here if I wanted tea or coffee or water. Very nice. There were a ton of nail polishes to choose from, and they were well-organized by color family. Anna did a great job with my nails. They look and feel a million times better. I already know I will be returning here regularly for the fills. Note that they have a 5-day "warranty" so if you need a repair within five days of your manicure, they'll do it. This was my go to nail place for years. I used to get acrylic nails every 2-3 weeks. After switching to a better nail salon I have since realized better quality nails and wanted to update my review. Most of the staff is very nice and hospitable, their service is good and they almost always offer tea or water, unless they're super busy. I was going before covid so I'm not sure their procedures now, but they were very busy before so although they accepted walk-ins I would recommend making an appointment (Most of the time they do same-day appointments). The nail techs varied every time I went there, and with it the quality of the nails. Sometimes the lengths and shapes were uneven. Sometimes they simply did not give me the length that I requested. When they switched from acrylic to hard gel, that's when things really took a turn for me. My nails starting lifting way sooner than normal, breaking a lot more easily, and the endurance and quality of my nails dropped significantly. (keep in mind they offer acrylic at their dobson location). My last appointment there, my nail tech was kind enough to tell me that the reason my nails were lifting and breaking more now is because the hard gel did not work well with the oils on my natural nails which is what caused the lifting. It would have been nice to have been informed that when they switched over, that it might not be compatible anymore. Overall, it's a decent place to go for the price you're paying, which is cheap considering the service (when I went there). But keep in mind the gel vs. acrylic powder aspect of it when getting fake nails. read more

I'm in love with this place! I went on a random whim and I fell in love on day 1. Have gone back twice since. Coming from someone who is insanely picky, that says so much. They do a perfect job (I could not find one flaw if I tried), and they do it so quickly. I was amazed to get out within 30 minutes for a shellac polish change. Consistency isn't something that you can expect here, I know there other others that say "you get what you pay for" - but here it's really hit and miss: with consistent misses for me the last few visits. There's a definite vibe of preferential treatment here based on what you look like: one where if you're not one of their "preferred" looking clientele, or asking for a service that isn't time efficient for them, expect to feel like the services you asked (and will be paying) for are done as a favour to you, and possibly done haphazardly. Polish removal and nail prep is very aggressive - for gel polish, they will use a mechanical file regardless if they're working with natural or artificial nails. Be prepared for an immediate attitude shift for the worse if you have natural nails and tell them you don't want your nails ground down by their machine. Nail shaping is hit and miss, and the "is this okay" question to check isn't really a question, because anything other than a positive answer typically begets the response of some sort of sigh and/or what might be grumbling in what sounds like Vietnamese to the closest other nail technician. Actual polish application is generally reasonable - as long as you have no feedback or ask them to fix anything you don't like that is. Refer to above about possible attitude shift, sighing and grumbling should you have anything but a positive response. The "massage" component of manicures or pedicures could last between two to five minutes depending on who's working on you that day. My nails that were strong ended up thin (grounded down by their mechanical file) and weakened within a couple of visits, and the attitude I received in the visits after because I didn't allow them mechanically file my nails, and the follow through of sourness. Who needs to pay to be treated that way? Put simply, every subsequent visit I've had since the couple that led me to leave the review with the 4-star rating has been a let down: grinding it down to a 1-star. read more

After my first visit which was very positive, I returned 4 more times (because of location convenience) but now have decided to move onto another nail salon. This place truly lacks consistency across the board: 1) Price: It always is a little different and can never figure out how they figure out the total sum when I compare it to their service price list. 2) Service: Only once did I get a hand and arm massage, and other times I just watched the people next to me get a massage for the same kind of nail set. 3) Quality of work: I have had Gigi, Anna and Lily and the application is never perfect. Uneven layers, blobby work and jagged edges even with cuticles taken care of beforehand (once was cut twice and bleeding). Lifting and cracking afterwards within and after the 5 day warranty period. Nail shaping also a hit and miss, once finished with slanted nails in the end. Also don't like how they file my nails without pushing my skin down cus my skin also gets filed. Polish removal a little aggressive with not a lot of time to soak off the polish and during my last visit, there was residual polish present when the new polish was applied. If you want your nails fucked up then go here! I asked for ACRYLIC French tips and she tried to give me gel. By the time I realized that she was giving me gel she was like "oh it's too late to fix it". So I was like fine just do pink. I had to tell her to do another coat because the first coat she did was so lumpy and she only did one coat, then when she was putting on the jewels she couldn't even do a simple pattern. I had to put The jewels on myself and while I was doing it she was LAUGHING at me. I don't understand what's so funny? Is it really funny that I have to do your job for you? Also if you look at my nails you can see that none of them are the same length and the filing job is shit!!! Also this is THE THIRD TIME IVE UPDATED MY REVIEW FOR THEM. My go to nail salon ‍I've only tried their manicure and full sets services and so far i've been content with their work everytime. The nail technicians I get always know what i want and always does the perfect shape, length, and colour/design for my nails. The cons are just that you can get nail services elsewhere for cheaper, however the quality here is still worth it. I don't know if this is just me, but last time I got my nails done, the gel on my finger got too too hot too fast when it was under the uv light despite having it under for less than 5 seconds. Not really sure if that's normal, but i almost couldn't handle the heat on my nail bed. Everyone's experience will be different from eachother and this was mine. 4/5 read more

One of my favourite nail salons. It's hard to get in on a walk-in so I suggest making an appointment. I love how they work on your hands and feet at the same time = half the amount of time you have to be there. Everyone is very friendly and brings you water/ tea whatever to make you feel more comfortable! Another thing I like is that they cut your cuticles when you get an acrylic set which is almost rare to me. They're also very organized & take your name and number down to make a file so if you wanted to get the same colour from a previous visit, it would be easier to find. I find this place to a bit more on the expensive side but it is in Yaletown so it's no surprise. Totally worth it though! read more

Never have I ever been more disappointed with my nails. I've been to this salon many times before and have never had any issues until today. I had an appointment scheduled at 3:30 and I was done by 3:50. The nail technician finished my nails in a total of 20 minutes tops. In and out. Having been here many times before, I'm well versed and know the drill. The nail tech didn't cut or clean or shape my cuticles. She also did not give me a hand massage with hand lotion which I don't typically care for that part portion but I felt that she rushed and skipped steps and was very sloppy with her work. I had been having my shellac applied here for over a year with no issues. I was always happy with my nails until one day I decided to try the ombré french shellac with Diana. The first issue started when I was trying to find the clear pearl white shellac polish on top of the ombré that I had used before. They kept showing me the Chrome polish for an additional $10. I kept on telling them that I didn't want chrome, I kept insisting that I had the pearl white shellac before and loved it so I didn't need to spend $10 on chrome. They finally found the shellac color I was talking about and we continued the process. Less than 4 days later the tips of my nails were separating from the shellac. I have never had this happen before. As I was out of town at this point I called in and told them what was happening and they said to come in when I was back to fix it. Diana was so upset to fix them so she didn't bother to soak off the shellac but filed it off aggressively. After "fixing" them, 3 days later AGAIN they separated only at the tips. I have no idea if it was defective product or technique. I chose not to bother to redo it. When I came back a couple months later to get shellac they made me wait 45 mins, accepted in walk in's before me and the proceeded to tell me that no one wanted to do my nails because I complained twice that they separated!! Then they had told me that not only did I complain about my shellac separating but also that I wanted chrome shellac but didn't want to pay for it, which was untrue. I didn't want to pay for it because I DID NOT WANT CHROME! Don't trust their 5 day policy! If you complain they will cut you off from services. read more

I've been getting my nails done for over 20 years. I had to find another place because my regular salon was closed as the owner went back home on a last minute trip. Walked in, no one smiles, not very organized to be honest. Layout is weird. Just try to jam in as many people as they can. They are called a SPA? Anyhow, sat down and within 5 minutes the hand machine used to file down the shellac, slipped out of her hand got stuck by her glove and then landed on my pinky and cut a decent amount of skin. She apologized. The massage and clean up of both mani/pedi sucked. Day 2 my nails are already chipping. Crap quality nail polish. I should have stuck to OPI. I go to pay and not even a tiny discount to address my big cut on my pinky. It actually hurt. I WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS SALON. My salon on 12th and Main, Emi, is the best salon ever. Go try her. I've been to this place a few times and went back for another pedicure. She didn't take the callus off the bottom of my feet and didn't smooth them out at all. I had to get her to come back and to do them because she was off working on someone else. When she finally did do it, it was horrible. My pedi hasn't even lasted two weeks, what a waste of $40. I had walked by this nail salon a few times and they have the big massage pedicure chairs so it was a given I would try them out at some point. I'd smashed a toe a couple days before but still felt like a manicure so I popped in figuring I'd be back for both at some point but why not just get the one done and check the chairs out a bit more closely. A straight up basic manicure at this salon is only $20. The manicure chairs are dreadfully uncomfortable, and this is a place that I figured, given the Yaletown location, would have a high level of expertise in their establishment. I didn't realize until she was going to start to polish them that her initial five seconds of filing them was considered shaping so all of my nails are still different lengths I have one that grows in odd directions which is still in an odd direction. Normally when asked how I want them I say, short. My cuticles do not look nicely trimmed at all and she cut me not one but three times. I have three super nice blood stains at the bottom of my nails and they hurt. I would not risk my feet with them fancy chairs or not, nor would I return for my fingers. I originally just wanted a shellac manicure, but also mentioned if they had time for both mani and pedi, I would take that. I was seated in one of those super cozy massage chairs for my pedicure and offered something to drink. Trying to relax in the midst of all the noise and phone ringing off the hook, 10 mins goes by and still waiting for my mani to start. The lady who originally said they would do both at the same time, came back and said - sorry, we are booked can you come back later for your manicure? I told her I originally just wanted a mani, and not sure why they stuck my right into a pedi if they could only have time for 1 service. Really? She said she'd see what she could do. My pedi was almost over, and I'm looking online for another place in the neighbourhood to get my originally requested service. Just as pedi is finishing, she said someone is coming right over. 15 mins later, Stephen came and started working on my nails. He did a decent job. I wouldn't have posted this until I saw what happened next. I was pretty disgusted when I saw how the foot tub was cleaned next to me. Cleaning solution was sprayed, and tub was scrubbed down. The tub was filled for the next person without even rinsing! The blue powder was added..and it was ready for the next person. I just got a full set done by Anna she kept pushing me to do gel polish when i told her i didnt want it and only wanted to do regular polish she kwpt pushing me for a good 10 minutes to get a gel polish when i asked how much is the difference she told me regular polish on full sets are 46 dollars and gel polish on full sets are 51 when i went to pay i paid 54 dollars i asked why is it 54 when i only did the regular she said after tax well i calculated 46 after tax it should be 51.52 so i just got robbed thanks Anna and btw theres no after tax I always get the gel polish change (on my natural nails) and always pay 27 they dont have taxes when you pay the taxes are included thanks again for robbing me much appreciated everyone please stay away from here theres a million places to get your nails done without getting robbed read more

One of the worst nail "spa's" I have ever been to. Pros: The chairs are comfy. Cons: It took a record 2.5hrs for my two friends and I to get our pedi's done. My girl was definitely the worst, and appeared to be having some personal issues with someone on the phone as she kept leaving me mid-file, mid-scrub, mid-polish. I kid you not, I was left sitting with three polished toes for 25 minutes while my girl took what must've been her 4th or 5th call. When she finally came back (after I wobbled out of my chair to find her) there was no apology, she begrudgingly flung some polish on my toes, and I walked out of there looking like a 2 year old had done my nails. I've been there twice now for mani/pedis (with the additional add-on of gel polish for my mani). The price can't be beat. $40 for mani/pedi, plus $15 for the gel. Both times, the gel nails have been done SO well, and last forever. Last time I went was 4 weeks ago, and apart from the grow out, my nails look just as good as they did when I went in. NO chips! I do need to start making appts, as they have gotten progressively busier this year and there is almost always a wait now. They are typically playing Sex & the City or a romantic comedy on the tvs, which is nice. Most of the staff I have dealt with has been personable. I don't do pedis but the chairs sure look comfy. RIP OFF. 2nd of all I ask to keep my nails long and in the oval pointed shape they are already in. She starts to file and then asks to cut them just a little bit but she cuts them ALL off and now my nails are short and round. When I tell her that's not what I wanted she calls the manager over and asks if she can give me a discount. The manager takes off the $5 removal. Wow...and on top of it all when I go to wash my hands one of the girls says oh your nails are too short? Mine are short too..they will grow and she laughs. Not happy, not coming back. If you love your nails, don't make the same mistake I did and go here. I went to this spa 3x. The 1st time, I was going to a special event the next day. The very young woman doing my nails did not understand how NOT to do a set of nails without using a dril on my natural nail bed,  she had to ask the manager what to do because there was a substantial language barrier. I requested a full set of black acrylic stiletto nails with some rhinestone nail art and a single ombre glitter nail going from silver glitter to grey glitter.  I brought a photo of the finished design. The nails were extreamly thick and unnecessarily chunky at the cuticle. The nail art was not what I had requested, the glitter that she embedded into the gel top coat was only chunky silver glitter. I didn't have time to complain. she already spent 2+h on them and 5 other girls were watching her do it and or help.  The 2nd time I had Jenny, she looked at my nails and was shocked at how thick they were, it took her 45 minutes with a drill to scrape off the rhinestones, glitter and the black gel nail polish so she could do my fill. I was pleased with the end result of the second experience but then I noticed while waiting for my polish to dry that they were swapping dril bits from client to client WITHOUT sanitizing! My 3rd and final appointment, I requested Jenny again and I wish I hadn't. I spent the last 3 months growing out my nails so I could have a simple light acrylic overlay with my own nails.  She destroyed them. I asked her to cut down the Stiletto Nails to my natural nail length which was a centimeter in length and give me a reg fill.  She did that but some of the acrylic dripped under the nail and she proceded to use a drill to remove it on EVERY SINGLE nail. What she did was to remove my natural nail,  unevenly at that.   As you can see in the pic where it is clear enough to see the colour of the polish (dark magenta)my nail no longer exists.  This was not necessary and I am VERY upset.  I will never go back. read more
