Six days ago I got a gel manicure at Pinky's. Two days ago I noticed that one of my nails had a huge chip/rip in the polish so yesterday I went in and they repaired/redid that nail at no cost which was nice. But just now I noticed that another nail has a huge chip/rip in the polish. This manicure cost over $60.00 and hasn't lasted even a week - beyond the chips I now have hangnails which I've never had before. My hands look worse than they did before. I've included a photo of today's damage. Six days, $60.00 and this is what I have to show for it. UPDATE - a second photo as I woke up this morning with another chipped nail. Book in 5 days ago for a two manicures. once we arrive, they only have one nail technician available.. she bounces between the both of us. she starts off by telling her coworker she is hungover. Rushes through the manicures, no cuticle clean up, or hand massage. Nails are poorly painted, honestly look worse than they did at the start. it felt very rushed, and like she just did not care. She just wanted to get everything done as quick as possible. Do not recommend. read more

New establishment. The place is clean and bright. 6 massage chairs and 6 seats. There's a room at the back for treatments. Got a pedicure. $35. I asked the technician to use more pressure when massaging my legs. It still felt like she was barely massaging. Other than that all was well. Lots of colour to select. There weren't clear instruction when I entered. I didn't know I'm suppose to pick a colour from the walls of polish before sitting down. I wasn't picky with colour. My polish job is flawless and I'm satisfied with the shape, however my nail tech was very hasty with my cuticles and about 4 of them ended up bleeding and painful. She actually cut into the bed of the nail on one and it's an OPEN WOUND. I wouldn't normally care very much if they were just bleeding a little because that happens sometimes but there is a chunk of my skin missing and you can see the flesh inside. She had to use liquid bandage on my cuticles after I'm worried that it's gonna end up getting infected. It was hard to understand her because she would speak super quietly. She was very polite though. Nice place with good prices. My friend's nails turned out beautifully and her nail tech was very gentle. I would give this place another chance though because other than those couple things it was very pleasant and clean. read more

My girlfriend look all over for a place that does dip powder nail in Vancouver and came across this place. She was greeted by the manager - Tina and off they go. The place is nice, clean and comfy, making it a relaxing atmosphere for getting pampered. There were other ladies there getting their pedi done while she was there. She was surprised to see that they covered the tub with a liner to keep things sanitary (Not many places does that). Back to my gf. Tina was great at explaining the different options. For dip powder, they have a large samples of colours to choose from which is a big plus. Overall, gf is happy, I am happy. Phew! Good job Tina! read more

Got a dip manicure last Thursday and the entire thing is chipping.. its been 4 days. I also tipped each tech $5.. so my total service for hands and feet was over $100 which I am ok with for a job to be well done... I am going back today and expect them to fully redo and FIX them without charging me. I will chime back in on this feedback survey to keep you updated on how it goes. My cousin and I walked in on a Saturday and they were super accommodating and welcome us walkins. They offered us tea or water. The salon was very clean and well sanitized and I was very impressed they definitely separate themselves from The typical Vietnamese nail salons. Just had a mani pedi here. Love the location - you can find free parking on the side streets. The salon is new, bright, beautiful. Free WiFi. Excellent selection of colours - and even on the swatches, so it's easier to pick out. The chairs are comfy. The tools are sanitized. I had Tina do my gel manicure and Harley do my pedicure. I walked into this salon and without an appointment, they fit me in. But a pedicure is $35, which is standard, for this part of town. BUT - for you have to pay $5 more for OPI polish. Can you believe that? So I opted for a $35 pedicure that used Dnd (?) ...and guess what? A day later- the polish came off on two of my toes. Is it a case of "you get what you pay for"? Other salons offer OPI at 35 - not here. I would go back and see if they could fix the polish but today is car-free day and it's too difficult to get to... read more

Don't go here for waxing!! It seemed as though the salon was not prepared for my appointment, as there seemed to be some staffing issue where another woman had an appointment for a mani-pedi and there was not enough coverage to support her and myself. The staff had to negotiate a bit with her so that there was coverage for both of us. The whole interaction was brisk and rushed, with a definite lack of customer service. There was a language barrier that resulted in a lot of misunderstanding, as well. I was booked for a Brazilian, which is not something I get all the time, and I expected a bit more care and consideration. First, the technician (Judy) just gestured at the door for the room, not saying anything to me, and closed the door. The room has a clear view into the rest of the salon if the door is open, but had a curtain towards the back for privacy, which I had to undo and move to create more privacy myself. I had asked about ingredients in the wax as I have a number of allergies. The technician didn't understand my question, kind of shrugging, showing me the can briefly. I had to ask again to see the can to ensure that it was safe for my sensitive skin. I then observed the technician double dipping into an already opened jar of wax, using the same spatula repeatedly, which is a huge hygiene issue!! I asked her to use a new one each time, stating hygiene issues (obviously). She gave me a lot of attitude, and told me that I asked for so much and she just cannot do it if I insist on asking for so much, and that she's done this the same exact way for others (implying that I am the issue for demanding so many things). It was an incredibly awkward situation. She ended up using a new can of wax, and the waxing itself was relatively painless, but I was still upset with the whole experience. I got my nails done here and was disappointed with how they came out. 3 of them fell off in the first week and I contacted them to let them know I was disappointed. They kindly offered to fix them for free and they were flexible with my schedule. I'm still not completely happy with how they look - the style is a little different and they're kinda off. At first I thought they did a great job with my acrylic fill but within a couple days the sides were chipping off. I've had acrylic for years and that only happens when the products being used are bad. Also now almost two weeks later have two nails come off completely which has never happened. I would never go here again, nor would I recommend it. I went here for a gel manicure. I'm not sure of the brand of gel polish they use here, but the samples were very different from the actual colour, and then the gel colour faded a lot after just a few days. It also chipped super easily. Three days after my manicure, I had at least three nails that were chipped, and after a week, every nail was chipped. I've never had this happen before after a gel polish. The polish also ended up staining and damaging my nails. In addition, to the inferior products, I was also over charged. I do like the location and the interior of this place, but due to the subpar quality of service and products, I would never return. read more

I had broken 2 nails the night before, I msged my nail girl but she caught the flu. Morning of around 9am, nail salons don't open until 10am so I tried calling anyways to see if they would open early, no luck. At 10am they called back and took me in asap. Tina who did my nails was super nice and asked me if I liked the shape which I liked because some salons they don't ask, they just apply colour. Took my kids here for mani/deluxe pedi. & I had a deluxe pedi. The pedi felt really rushed. The massage/hot stones rub was applied briefly...it wasnt much of a treat. On top of that on the 4th day my kids nail paint chipped off! It wasnt even busy, but still there was no reason to not take the time. I have been going every 2 weeks for a couple months now and I'm so happy I found this place once walking by. The place is always really clean and organized. All the girls are super nice and they all do an awesome job. Prices are great compare to other places around Main Street. One of my favourite things is the massage at the end, they use some oils, lotion, hot stones and warm cloth every time and you can't get that everywhere. I cannot say enough nice things about Pinky Beauty Bar. I am visiting Vancouver and wanted to treat my mom (88) To a nice mani pedi. I called and the first pleasant surprise was that someone actually answered the phone, they gave me an appointment for the time I asked for, answered my concerns about parking( metered on the street right outside their door). We arrived and received a warm greeting. We were offered tea and the ladies helped my mom take off her shoes and get comfortable in the pedicure chair. They were very sweet to her. I had to soak off my gel polish. That was done while my pedicure got started Tina did my gel manicure and helped me find my perfect color. Gigi did my pedicure and my toes look beautiful. I booked an appointment to get my eyelashes done and got them done, they were ok. I then asked to get my eyebrows waxed. Well she waxed them and when I was about to pay she said the wax was free, I thought oh wow how nice is that, only to find out a bit later that she burnt me. It hurt and was painful. I also gave her a $10 tip. Well i should have leArnt my lesson but I went back because she said the refill was only going to be $45. It wasn't $45 it was $57. She showed up a half hour late for my appointment and then she still expected another tip. She didn't even say your welcome after I still thanked her. Plus my eyelashes look like crap and are falling out again. I paid for bold not the classic and they clearly look like a classic set. Never again!!! read more

My nails have never been more damaged. I've been here before but haven't had an experience like this. I came for removal of my acrylic extensions - The website said timing would be short and it would cost $10. I get here and the nail technician spent over 10 minutes staring at them as if she didn't know where to start. She started filing the polish off then cut the extensions short. I've had my nails removed by filing them off or filing them in soaking in acetone. This time the nail technician tried scraping them off with another piece of extension. After she did my thumb I told her I did not want my nails removed in this way and she kept telling me this was the correct way. She continued to tell my acrylic extensions are so bad for your nails. I kept saying I was fine with the whole process or "I'm sorry I have to leave" or "I can't do this". I'd pull my hand away and she'd pull it back. This process was an hour and fourth minutes. By the end my nails looked awful. They had NEVER looked so bad after removal. Sure they have been weaker nails but now I have massive indents where this woman was carving into my nails. A few days later, no improvements. My nails are cracking, splitting and bleeding. The nail technician said they looked the way they do because I had acrylic extensions. After 4 years of getting my nails done consistently, I've never had this problem. At the end of my appointment, I had sat there for nearly two hours, was charged more than double what I was told I'd be paying, still have pieces of the acrylic, and polish on my nails, and am so unhappy with damage done to my nails. I will not be back and certainly wouldn't recommend this company. read more

I come to this location because the service is nice for Pedicures. They use a good scrub and they use hot stones for massage. But the last 3 times I've come the service was really slow and one time they did my nails and left lots of streaks and smudges and I needed to stay even longer to fix it. The most recent time I called and asked for an appointment at 6pm and was asked to come in earlier since they close at 7 and didnt want it to be too rushed with time. I was asked to come in as early as possible. 530-545 would be best. I arrived at 530 and was still forced to wait until 6pm until I was FINALLY seen by someone. I wasnt even offered a beverage while I wait. Why ask me to come in (I RUSHED from work) and not even be prepared for me when I arrive. I'm so disappointed as I like this place but with so many issues my last visits I may need to find a new place. read more

They did a good job. However, they charge extra for removing the shellac on your nails on top of the $35 manicure. I get it if they charge for removing the shellac when you are going there only to get the shellac removed. Oh! and they don't tell you until the very end. read more

I have been going to Pinky Beauty Bar to get my lash extensions for the past 3 months. Prior to this I tried a number of different places in the city and I wasn't really happy with the quality or how long they lasted. Then I found Pinky's...Tina the Owner does an amazing job and they last for weeks! I've also had a gel fill and a shellac pedi and both were perfect! I really wanted to be happy with my eyelash extensions. The technician was open to listening to how I wanted them done, however I don't think if I spoke up right away to tell her, she wouldn't have asked me what style I wanted, etc. I'm so disappointed, the appointment took an hour longer than it said it would (I went twice, hoping it'd go better and it happened both times), it's a good thing I didn't have a tight schedule that day because that was an inconvenience. Another thing I didn't like was that the technician used my forehead to place the glue and lashes on???? Without talking to me about it, I did not appreciate that at all. The next appt, I spoke up and asked why she's rubbing my makeup off and for her to use something else to place her tools on. The lashes were beautiful! Which is why I wanted so badly to be happy with them.. however, they only lasted a week! I took proper care of them, but I was losing 5-7 lashes a day :( this has never happened before when I got eyelash extensions somewhere else.. it's a waste of money to me when I know I can go somewhere else and pay a little more for better quality.
