I've been going to Waxmi regularly for the past 4 years, and every time, Wency is professional, thorough, clean, and such a pleasure to interact with. Waxing obviously isn't fun, but she makes it almost painless (for real!) and she has a gift for lightening the mood and taking the awkwardness out of it. She has become such an integral part of my hygiene routine, to the point where I see these regular appointments with her as self-care. I'm very prone to in-grown hairs and I never have an issue with her, she's literally that good!! Booking with her is easy and she checks in beforehand too so you can reschedule if needed, without paying any fees. I got a follow up call and text from Wency to confirm my appointment, which I thought added a great personal touch. I've been getting waxed for 6+ years now and I have never had a more painless and effortless wax experience than with Wency. Since it was my first time coming into Waxmi, I came in a bit earlier than my scheduled appointment to fill out some paperwork. My first thought upon walking into the studio was "This is adorable!" Her studio decor is beautiful and girly, with plenty of artwork and aesthetically pleasing corners. There's even a bowl of gummies in the waiting area. I unfortunately didn't snag any this time around... but next time! Wency welcomed me with a big smile and immediately got me a little cup of water. While I was filling out the paperwork she told me she was just going to go clean the room and get everything ready. Once I was finished with the paperwork, she walked me back to the room and walked me through the procedures. Even though I've gotten waxed before, she made sure I was comfortable and relaxed, which I definitely was! During the procedure, we talked and laughed, in what usually would be an awkard situation for most. I didn't feel a drop of awkwardness at all, which is a sign that Wency does her job right! All in all, the waxing itself probably took about 15 minutes. Quick and easy in my opinion! Due keep in mind, I do have a higher pain tolerance, so even though it was quite painless for me... everybody has a different body and level of pain tolerance. As I was leaving, she told me all about the aftercare, told me to email/text her if anything came up, and gave me a big hug. I felt like I was hanging out with a friend I've known for years... is that weird? Wency is a one-woman superstar who runs her business on her own, and I have serious respect for her being a woman-owned, small business owner. She is so friendly, immediately makes you feel at ease, and fantastic at her job! If you're looking for a place to get waxed, go visit Wency at Waxmi. So I…read morecalled just two hours in advance to see if they had any availability left on a busy Sunday afternoon for a manicure ($30) and deluxe pedicure ($65) and they fit me in! Though I added paraffin ($15) to my hands, they did push both the manicure-pedicure in shellac because they stated the regular polish would not dry in time ($25). I also did not know there was a 5% tax on services in Canada. However, they do give you 5% discount for writing a review - though instead of $129.68, they charged me $131.78 because they only took off the 5% on the $90 shellac manicure-pedicure. Even after I tipped both of the technicians $20 each in US currency, I was disappointed that they were dishonest when I pointed out to them about the discount not having been applied to the total amount and they said it was the tax. I had Trish and Miley; both were excellent with the trim, shape, and polish. The hand and foot/leg massages were just okay. I have the manicure at the same time as the pedicure, but it was quite uncomfortable to have to sit on an angle for both my hands to be done to one side of the chair. Because the receptionist was chatting away with both of them, they were not paying attention and not looking at their sanding and buffing of my nails at the beginning, which was also uncomfortable to my hand and feet cuticles. Last, the foot exfoliation was also not thorough because it was done during the time that the conversation was happening. All in all, I would still recommend!

I asked for French tip with a coating of chrome dust on top. Anytime I've asked for French tip, I find some aestheticians take quite long to do it but Kieran was sharp and speedy. I walked in at 10:20am and was out of there by 11:30am. He even added abit of length to my thumb as my nail had just broken off prior to getting there. I'm super happy with the quality and the precision of the French tip. It was definitely on the pricier side with French being an extra $15 and chrome an additional $15 on top of a regular gel mani. Total before tip was around $70. I didn't mind spending extra to ensure my nails looked great for my wedding weekend!

But just now I noticed that another nail has a huge chip/rip in the polish. This manicure cost over $60.00 and hasn't lasted even a week - beyond the chips I now have hangnails which I've never had before. My hands look worse than they did before. I've included a photo of today's damage. Six days, $60.00 and this is what I have to show for it. UPDATE - a second photo as I woke up this morning with another chipped nail. I've given this salon multiple chances and unfortunately continue to leave unhappy. My most recent…read morevisit was $250 for a root touch-up and long layers. Within 4 weeks the colour faded unevenly and turned brassy, and the roots did not blend. The layers removed too much density and made my hair feel thin and wispy. Nowhere near to the reference photo style. I declined a $90 gloss and feel the colour service relied on that to correct poor formulation. Permanent dye is also being repeatedly pulled through hair that's already been coloured giving it a dry, patchy look. On another visit, I asked for soft fringe bangs using a clear reference photo, but they were cut wet and left choppy and uneven! This is like basic hair technique 101!
