Haircut quality here has been consistently good here, and if you show a picture of the cut/style you want, they can get you the look pretty close given the type of hair you've got to start with. Took my daughter in with me this most recent visit as well. The service was pleasant and helpful, and we both left feeling refreshed with our new hair styles! The cost for wash/unwashed cut and style was $45 each (we both had long hair) before tax and tip; not cheap but a reasonable rate in these times for this quality of cut in my opinion. read more

A great place for a threading! Usually, I just pop in to purchase Sebastian hair product, but today, feeling especially furry, I decided to get the threading done, now. Cathy was great. My eyebrows are the best shape - she spent time with the scissors and tweezers to perfect them. Got the face done too, as I have some big nights out coming up. The price - $22.00, total! I like the charming women who work here, they are friendly without being overbearing or upselling retail product. A bit old school, but clean. Paper sheets used in the facial room, which is great, no cooties here. Lots of glossy magazines to read, too. The washroom is clean. Lots of parking in the IGA parking lot. Aliya's is one block south of 12th Avenue, in the mall just behind Tisol Pet Foods. read more

As my local beauty salon at the time I went to Aliya's to get a pedicure once and some waxing done a few times. The pedicure I had done was great up until she applied the nail polish. I looked on in disappointment as she plastered layer upon layer of tint to my toenails, knowing that she wasn't leaving enough drying time in between and that this was sure to make the polish bubble, which it did. The waxing however, was really good. She did a great job on my eyebrows, underarms, and legs. She paid attention to detail, which I really appreciated, and I would definitely come back here to get waxed again. The interior of the salon is tacky, small, and crowded which doesn't make for the most pleasant environment. I'd never get my hair done here (another service which is offered), but that's based on my own personal preference, I'm sure they'd do a fine job. read more

Walked right in, no wait at 4pm...probaby the best thorough wash I've had in a long long time, and long time, easily 5 min. and a bit of a scalp massage. I was putting off going to a salon to get some threading done, mainly because I was incredibly busy and could never find the time. But the day before a reunion with some old old friends, I knew I couldn't put it off any longer! So I looked for a place close to work - lo and behold, I find this gem on Yelp. It's located on Main and 13th, inside the mall that's glued to the IGA there. Made an appointment in the morning, came in after work, and had my entire face threaded. The lady was very friendly and did a thorough job. She also took the time to trim my brows with scissors and tweezers to ensure they were the perfect shape AND took the time to remove some of the baby hairs that were sticking out near my forehead, which was appreciated. Not a lot of places trim your brows and take out the extra baby hairs - many will just thread the general shape and send you out the door. Around $30 (I think it was $29 something) for everything - brows, upper chin, side burns, and other fuzzies on the face. Not bad, considering a similar deal would be $45 (or more) at a higher-end salon. When I got there, the ladies were helping a guy pick out some hair products and teaching him how to use it, which I thought was nice (compared to other salons that solely upsell you on the product). I also noticed there were a lot of long-time clients who have been going there for quite some time, so you know Aliya's is pretty reputable. tl;dr: Will likely come back! read more

I had my eyebrows threaded there today by Amanda. I've been looking for an affordable place in this area for a long time. Donna Lucia in Kits does them for just $6. Here it was $10 which is totally reasonable compared to everywhere else ($19+!) Amanda did a wonderful job, my eyebrows look great. She did exactly what I asked (keep the natural shape but just clean up). My eyes watered like mad as always but she was very attentive and even offered to touch up my make up. I recently took my little one here for her first haircut, after I had tried unsuccessfully to give her one myself... They were really nice in fixing her hair. I showed them a picture of what I wanted and they understood. I thought the price was fairly reasonable for her haircut ($15). And it was a pretty quick process. If you are planning to go around the holiday season, it might be best to make an appointment. I just walked in, but they were pretty busy. We ended up waiting around 10-15 minutes, which wasn't bad at all, in my opinion. I will definitely take her back for her next haircut! read more

After trying for a couple days to find a place to get my toddler's hair cut, we went to Aliyah's. Most places around me did not cut Childrens hair or were booked. I was able to make an appointment for the same day here. Anna was very kind and gentle to my little guy, who was very relaxed through the whole process. She gave him hair clips to play with, which kept him busy. I showed her a photo of what I wanted and she cut it perfectly. Very good service and affordable prices. read more

First time here - I had my hair trimmed from chest length to short bob as well as having it dyed black to brown. I am very satisfied with the results! My hair looks fresh after dying and my hair cut made everything so much lighter. I have really thick coarse hair which poses a challenge for most beauty salons. The lady who did the colour and trim was Amanda. During my stay here many customers have asked for her, I guess she is the one to ask for in this parlour? this is the place i like to duck into when my eyebrows are going astray and in my busyness, keep putting it off to get fixed up... i never have had to wait (which is great since i never make an appointment) i get them waxed...and its been done by probably 3 different ladies...all of them very polite and talkative, but not overly chatty. they all seem to compliment me on my hair and how great my eyebrows are.... after 3 of them saying so, i guess i should believe it then? never had any issues or been unsatisfied with the finished look... the cleanliness is not 'spa-like' standards so i dont know about the rest of the services they provide. i like how im in there and out real quick =) and the price is very reasonable! read more

Thought I would try somewhere different for my eyebrow threading since it was so close to my house. She seemed to be slow, and I'm not quite sure if she actually knew what she was doing, The shape turned out pretty good, but as I got home I took a closer look, and there was till a ton of stray hairs that I had to pluck myself. ive had better threading elsewhere, I wont be back. read more

I've been going to this salon for as long as I can remember. I used to live in walking distance to it but I've slowly moved further and further away. Regardless, I still go there for my haircuts with either Janice or Jennifer. They're all very good and although they are able to take walk-ins, I still book an appointment. They listen when I tell them how I want my hair to look and how I'm feeling about it. I always leave happy and when I try other salons, I end up going back there in the end. They leave my hair looking beautiful and feeling healthier (because I got all my dead split ends cut off and they round brush blow-dry it after my cut) I also visit for brow threading and the occasional manicure/pedicure. Don't go here for an ombre. They really don't know how to ombre they just made my hair look like my roots are showing cause they dyed so high up and it's not even the color I wanted. I'm so upset and cried my eyes out when I got home. The lady over charged me and it was such a bad job. read more

It was my first time getting a Brazilian. I go to this salon for my regular haircuts, and enjoy their service, plus, they are right near my apartment. Didn't ask for the lady's name who attended me, but I found her to be cheerful, as gentle as possible (considering the circumstances!) and professional. She explained everything she was going to do before she did it. I would recommend them to anyone. $40 isn't bad, it's fast, they're nice, and JJ Bean is practically next door. :) read more

Aliya's is in the mini-mall near my house, which, for an area with lots of amenities doesn't have many salon-type places. Dropped in and got an appointment for 30 minutes later, no problem. Amanda waxed me super fast, quite thoroughly, and with minimal pain (for something that is inherently painful). Nothing fancy here, but I'll go back because it was convenient, quick, inexpensive and a good experience. read more

I've been going here to get my hair cut by Lisa for about 6 months after I was referred here by a friend. I have coarse Asian hair,and it's been a struggle to find a hair stylist that can cut my hair well. I have been really happy with Lisa so far...she knows how to layer my hair properly so that it grows out nicely. And, a cut only costs me about $40! I haven't gotten my hair cut by any of the other girls, but they all seem to do a great job. I've gone to this place 3 times now and my first experience was great but there wasn't consistency the 2nd time so I stopped going. What made me return was when I had a major screw up at a "higher end" salon and quickly came here cause I knew it was a walk-in. I was really pleased by the skill and efficiency of the hairstylist who understood what I wanted and asked all the right questions. Found this place off of here (yelp). I just to moved to Vancouver from Richmond so I needed a new threading place. Least painful eyebrow threading I've ever had! Not sure if it was the place or me but I was happy. A little bit more expensive than my other place. It was $10 but considering I was happy, it wasn't painful and I didn't have to wait too long, I was okay with the extra $5 than my other place was. Will most likely go back. read more

I don't know why this place isn't busier!! Pretty clean, good english, great prices, lots of parking or transit. Waxing, Tinting, Threading, Excellent. Sometimes you can walk in. If you call ahead, they will always get you in soon. I will say they don't have a lot of practice bleaching white girls hair, but if you have complaints they will readily fix it. It was my first time to visit a hair salon here in Canada, and I got so disappointed with the service I had which really cause me a bad day. I went to Aliya's Beauty Center to inquire regarding regular perm, and at the same time ask for the price of it for the style I wanted, and the lady at the counter told me that it will costs $85.00 for my hair, then I made an appointment with them for this morning. I came to the hair salon before my appointment time, and waited for my turn. Then I was called by Luu, she accompanied me to her station and ask me what I want to do, so I told her the same thing that I want my hair perm but I just want it with a big wave, not too curly, and I wanted only half of the strands of my hair curl not upto the roots. Then I let her see pictures of the kind of curl I wanted, but she said that what I wanted is just an iron curl. So she get a catalogue of hair styles to let me see the kind of curl it will look like. After that, I told her to use the big curler, and again I told her that I just want the bottom wave, then she told me that it will look funny if I wanted only half hair curl. Until I told her that I usually do it. Then she asked one of the beautician then the lady accompany her to me and told her that what I wanted can be done, then show her to wrap just half of the hair to curl, she then said ok. But when she is already wrapping my hair, I do remind her again that only half because I saw that she only leave about 2 inches not wrap, but she said the result of the curl will be what I wanted, then I stop calling her attention. Until it was done, she even said that its so cute but I'm really not happy with it because the result is too curly and thick, and I told her in the beginning that I don't want it thick and curly, but I didn't say anything anymore at the end because it's so disappointing, and I don't know what to do to my hair anymore after what she did. And lastly, when I'm paying for the service, she charged me for $125.00 for the perm, then I told her that I was told that it only costs $85.00, but she insisted again that it really costs $125.00, without even asking the person who told me the amount when I made the appointment. What a bad day after doing what I told her that I don't want, she still insisted without trying to verify if I was really told how much it costs. I've been doing the perm back home for so many years, and she will told me that the curl I wanted is an iron curl, while I never used an iron curl in my whole life. hope you do something to correct your services because your customer service is too bad and annoying. It was not my attitude to write comments on anything but I feel that I was cheated and taken advantage, and my opinion was not respected. I was even told that I should not give her tip for what she did. read more
