This was the most uncomfortable seating I've had to endure ever for a pedicure. Second maam CUT ME TOE NAILS TO MINITURE THIS IS SO UGLY..... I hate it here. Then she painted my toes like a 5 yr old. I wouldn't tell my enemy to come here. This place SUCKS in a real way. My pedicure was done nicely. However this isn't how a real nail studio should be at all. Disappointed is an understatement. RE: PURE NAIL BAR (Main Street location) I don't like leaving negative reviews, but here we are. I booked a manicure a couple of hours before an event I was attending in the evening. Nothing fancy, just a standard straightforward manicure. I noticed the woman wasn't cleaning up the skin around my nails at all and I kept asking her to do it and she kept saying she would. Then suddenly she splashes oil on top of my nails, leaving my hands oily and messy, and that was it. I then asked her to clean around my nails and clean the mess under my nails from filing and she did, but she did a poor job. I had to get to my event so I just left. I showed my friends to make sure I wasn't being overly picky and they all agreed it was a horrible job. I went in today to see what they could do. The same woman was there and there was no apology; she was actually acting very put out by the whole thing. She "tried" to fix it but it was still bad. The lighting they have is terrible and they can't actually see what they're doing, but when you move your hands into natural light, you can see everything. I will never go back. I was hoping to get a thorough pedicure before my vacation and ended up with an embarrassing, half done mess in the end. I booked day of and they were even able to accommodate me early which is where one star comes from. The other is that they have the widest array of colours I've seen (and I later learned they had even MORE I hadn't looked at). Otherwise, the service was a disaster. I initially wanted their Pure Premium Pedicure which included extra callous care- what I was mainly looking for. When I got there, I was advised against it and instead opted for their Footsies which included a paraffin treatment. The girl was silent the entire time and they had on the most... interesting Tiffany Haddish movie on (sex scenes, swearing and offensive jokes). Everything was... subpar. She filed my feet for what seemed like 2 minutes which was the first thing that tipped me off as I knew my feet needed more than that. Then, the paraffin only covered my toes and even after trying to move it around myself, never got to my heels or sides. My bright yellow polish got two coats yet STILL was splotchy and all over my skin which was only slightly cleaned up. I also have no pinky toe nails and told her I did not want them painted but she still painted them anyways saying "it'll look better". Best part? Every time she stepped away, she went to sit on the couch in the corner directly across from my on her phone. At one point, she also went to get Starbucks downstairs when I was trying to get someone to help my burning feet. Not once was I explained the process or what I was supposed to do when she stepped away. I also came in for Happy Hour which took 5 minutes to apply after I noticed the amount they initially told me was too high. Thankfully, they honoured it but I know for the service I got, it still was not worth the price. Five steps down the hall, I turned to look at my heels and low and behold there were still callouses on my feet after I was discouraged to get the Premium package due to not needing it- the one I personally WANTED and knew I needed. I will not be going to any Pure Nail Bar again. I tried attaching some photos of the aftermath but I do not have a great camera. If not for the summer special - $50 for mani-pedi plus FREE slippers - I would not be here. My friend and I made a 6:00PM appointment on a Friday. That's their latest appointment for mani-pedi, in case you're wondering! When I got there, they wasted no time. I was shown to a chair and two girls came right away to work on me. Before I knew it, my arms were tangled and my legs were on the perch. I didn't even have time to choose my polish colors! I did not like that my manicure was done from one side of my chair. Crossing my arms over a large arm chair was quite uncomfortable. I would have preferred that she moved from the left side of my chair to right, and so forth, while working on my hands. The pedi was OK. The scrubbing wasn't thorough. I completely missed the massage. I'm sure she did it, but I was so busy crossing and uncrossing my arms that I missed the action on my legs. The mani was not impressive. She cleaned up my nails quite nicely, but everything else was disappointing. I paid attention to my hand massage and it was very... delicate. I said "Don't be afraid to hurt me," but I guess she didn't understand that. The girls were Vietnamese or Thai - typical for any nail spa. Finally, the polish application. My toes look fine. But my fingers look awful. I blame the angle of my hands from being crossed over my body and the armchair, as well as the fact that she may not have been 100% while working on my mani. I found out later that a party of 10 or more bride and bridesmaids were coming in for a bridal shower. Well, I'd hate to think that my mani-pedi was compromised on account of the bridal shower. On the bright side, I did get a pair of bright, pink flip-flops. They are surprisingly comfortable. ...Now I'm just scraping the bottom of the tin for a silver lining to this experience. Regrets? 3-stars because I've certainly had worse. Booked in here last minute, exactly four weeks after previous "pedicure" at Kaen. I was greeted promptly and told to select a colour from the many colours on the shelves. I noted at least two huge sections of colours that would have cost an extra $5 over the run-of-the-mill OPI polishes that are prevalent in this industry. I chose a standard OPI polish at no additional charge. I am anti-pedicure chair (breeding ground for infections) as I have yet to come across a spa that sanitizes the massage chairs according to health regulations. No, spraying disinfectant and then wiping it with a rag is NOT a proper disinfecting of the basin according to health standards! So extra points to Pure for doing pedis the sanitary way in a stainless steel basin. The technician unwrapped the pedi tools from the paper wrapper (taken out of the autoclave). That's a great sign that sanitization of tools is important in this place. The technician asked me how short I wanted my nails. She did not ask me if I wanted my nails rounded or square. Generally I like the way the tech worked on my feet except for the fact that the filing was still not up to par. I am getting so tired of places that do a mediocre filing job. She did use a micoplane on my feet but it didn't do all that great of a job. The attached photo shows the dead skin I removed from my feet with my own foot files less than 4 hours after my pedicure. I may or may not go back to Pure. A couple of the ladies working in Pure barely spoke English. The woman who booked my appointment over the phone was very difficult to understand and I'm guessing my request was lost in translation. I am 99% certain I booked the pedicure with Paraffin treatment. I didn't get the paraffin treatment nor was I charged for it. That's okay as I was starting to get antsy to get out of there because of the TV being on and the chairs were extremely filthy. The chairs are white which looks nice at a distance but when you're sitting in them you can see a plethora of cup/glass stains on the arms of the leather chairs. It doesn't give a good feel at all. I did not like the fact that the technician actually turned her head a handful of times to watch the TV! Two women came in for their appointments. They say they had specifically requested gel polish mani/pedi but they were told there was no time for gel. One woman was quite perturbed and insisted she had requested gel when she booked the appointment. I think this may very well have been another case of "lost in translation". It is conveniently located to my office so chances are I may go there again when I'm in a pickle but this location will not be my "go to" place for pedicures. read more

A little tricky to find. Took me a while as whilst I could see the salon up top I couldn't find a visible entrance, ended up being in a building that didn't tell me this salon was up top. Anyhow.... I just wanted a regular, nothing fancy pants pedicure. The chairs weren't that comfortable, strange shape chair for a pedicure. No massage chairs either. She soaked my feet but didn't really spend much time filling my hard skin on the back of my heels etc... Took forever, 30 minutes to dry my toes. Under a fan/ heater. She asked if I was wearing my boots outside or flip flops! It's raining out there why would I be wearing flip flops ! Get back to my hotel, one minute walk and take of boots and my big toe varnish has crinkled. I swear a 5 yr old could have done a better job than this. $45.00 and not worth a penny.( because I left a tip) because when I left they looked nice. Won't go back here. Won't recommend it. Pissed off. Will have to redo myself at the hotel and I can't even do just the big toes as I don't have this colour varnish. My nail tech was nice enough. But it cost $42 for a polish change. And on their advertising it says $15-$20. When I questioned this. I didn't get a straight answer other than "we have to pay our rent" I said "that's fine. Just advertise the right price. It says it's $27 for a manicure and I just paid $42 for a polish change." All of the employees just stared at me like I was crazy. The owner was there and literally didn't respond when I was talking to her. Then 2 of my nails chopped the next day. First time at this salon and will never go again. I came because a friend gave me a gift card. Awful customer service, the girl who is both receptionist and aesthetician, spent half the time on her cell phone. The pedi I came for was super rushed, she was done in 15min and then left to talk on the phone some more. The lady beside me was given a a dryer for her nails while I was just left without a drying machine. I thought maybe they only had one but then later when another customer came in and they gave her a dryer! 20 minutes later, my nails were air dry but the girl was still on the phone until someone came in. At which point she started working on them and forgot about me. I had to ask her to assist me with my payment so I could leave. Then the gift card wouldn't work and she told me there was nothing on it. I told her I did not know what was on it since it was a gift. She called someone and they asked where the card was purchased. SO I had to call my friend and ask her where she purchased the gc that she gave me 3 months ago and how much money was on it. My friend confirmed the location and said it had a mani pedi on it. In the end magically the card worked but only to cover a pedi as their computer didn't show it had a mani as well. I did not have high expectations but Pure delivered! Clean, conscientious, polite and efficient - they allot 30 minutes for a pure pedi and 30 minutes is how long it took. I did wait about 15 minutes for the polish to dry, which was great. They were closing up the shop but I stayed a little longer to relax and dry. I have been to this Pure Nail Bar location 3-4 times out of convienece, I work across the street. I have never had a problem here, and find the girls working to be polite and friendly. There are a few thing I tink people should keep in mind then going here: 1. Make an appointment! This is a very busy location so you will usually have to wait if you decide to walk in, or get turned away. 2. This is NOT a luxury nail spa. This is a nail BAR. It's aimed at fast and efficient service - not a spa experince. 3. You get what you pay for. Compared to other nail salons and spa's in the city, the nail service here is very moderatly priced, but sometimes leaves more to be desired. My visit yesterday was a lot of fun. They were extremly busy but the owner/manager was working very hard to ensure everyone was served promtly and happy with the service. I was sitting at the back and she came around several times to check if I was ok and liking my mani and pedi. She also adressed me by my name which i feel is a extra step to make customers feel like they are appreciated. The girl providing my service was very outgoing and funny, so we laughed and talked the entire time. She also did a great job on my nails and I definatly left in a great mood! I booked an appointment here for me and my friend thinking it might be nicer than the typical Vietnamese salons and at first it seemed better- cleaner and no yelling of Vietnamese across the room. The staff were pretty nice and seemed to know what they were doing but it seemed like the gel nail polish they use isn't as good as the Vietnamese salons. My gel manicure only lasted 2 weeks before it started getting chips, scratches and the "ready to peel off" feeling. The prices were also stupid. I got a gel mani and a regular pedi at the same time and it was not a welcoming experience. I made the appointment on the phone before I walked into the building because they just opened. I said that I wouldn't ask for anything complicated and just wanted a simple colour. They were trying to be nice about it and saying I could come in for one of the 2 I was getting. So I chose mani. When I walked in, I asked again if I could to a mani pedi together. The accountant sighed loudly and gave in. It caught me off guard and I realized she was the only one not working. So first impression was lazy workers. I did get my mani and pedi at the same time and kept my promise on choosing simple colours. When I was finished, they gave me a dryer for my toes. I was paying in cash so I asked if I could give them the money and then I could finish and walk out. But I asked 2 different people and they said they would be right back but they never did. So finally I paid and went home. But only 1 week later my gel nails were peeling off and I did not force them to come off. It said that the gel lasts for up to 3 weeks. So now, two weeks later, I only have 3 gel nails on instead of 10. Just go up the street to Kaen Nail Salon which is a proper nail salon and gives you good quality gel that lasts to 1 month. Went there with a few friends for a birthday mani/pedi. We had let them know ahead of time that we would be bringing wine to drink. First of all, we had reserved much ahead of time so that we could be seated at the bar but when we got there, there was limited seating so we ended up having to settle for the chairs. Secondly, the wine glasses provided to us had finger marks on a few. Thirdly, I wanted my nails shaped square and they were so unevenly done. A cheap indulgence, but you get what you pay for. I have frequented other Pure Nail Bars for some cheap pampering, always pure pedicures or pure manicures. Usually I would give them 3 stars. The staff are always friendly and efficient, I've never been treated poorly. The work is only ok. If you really care about the quality of your nails, go somewhere better. There have been bubbles or unevenness in all of the work I've gotten done, but haven't really cared when it's a pedi. Last week I "splurged" on a gel mani as I'm going on vacation and they were advertised as lasting 2-3 weeks. Unfortunately mine started peeling at the cuticles after 4 days. On a little research, if the tech gets gel on your cuticles, when your nails grow they will cause that. I had noticed the gel on my cuticles at the appointment but didn't know it was a problem. So now, leaving for vacation and my mani looks like crap :-( very disappointed. read more

Regret not reading the reviews before booking my mani pedi combo. When I arrived, my manicurist was finishing up with another. She approached me, loudly sighed and made it seem like I was an inconvenience. No hands washing between me and her previous client. Before getting started, her and another staff pushed back and forth who is doing the mani versus pedi. My finger nails were clipped poorly (crooked and jagged, still rough around the edges, not filed properly) and hit skin several times. I chose a Vinylux polish which shouldn't have a base coat (specific to CDN Vinylux), she painted a basecoat anyway. She smudged one and grunted loudly then loudly sighed, the fix needed to painted over by my pedicurist. Shortly after the mani, the manicurist complained about wanting to go home. The pedicurist tried to fix the issue, but I lost confidence in the salon. It was a poor experience and I will not be returning. I don't recommend this place. read more

I've had better mani/pedi's on the streets of Mexico than here! Booked a mani/pedi through their website for myself after work last week and was not impressed. The nail tech who did my mani missed spots and had apply an extra layer on most of my nails after I pointed out spots missing the polish. My foot bath for my pedi was a old dented metal bowl. I had asked for shellac polish on my toes as well as well as my hands and they only did it on my hands, painting my toes with regular polish. Won't be going back to this salon. read more

I booked a pedicure here, also decided to go with extensions and decided to go with regular polish instead of gel - 3 of my nails snapped off like two days after the actual manicure. When I called to let them know, and informed them I informed them I'd be taking off the rest of my nails because I didn't want to look stupid at work, the woman on the phone asked me to send a picture of my nails VIA email... and she asked if I could come in today and of course I couldn't make it. I received a 100 $ gift card from my boyfriend who thought Pure Nail Bars would be awesome places for ladies !!! Well, it is not true ! I usually do my nails in another salon but since I received this gift card, I tried the Kitsilano location first. I always have only Mani and not Padi. My first experience in Kitsilano location wasn't good at all ! The place didn't look clean at all ! It smelled like plastic everywhere in store. I had Nail Gel Padi and 2 days after the gel started coming off ! After a week I went to my usual salon to take them off !!!! Since, I still had almost 55 $ left on the gift card, I convinced myself to try other locations of the Pure Nail Bar for my next mani. I went to West Georgia location. This location looked cleaner and the plastic smell wasn't there ! When I arrived I asked how long I have to wait to get Mani and no one really told me how long. They were really unprofessional regarding the customer service. Since I really wanted to finish the gift card, I left the West Georgia location and head to the Yaletown location on Pacific Boulv. OMG OMG ! Never go there ever ! The first lady told me that I have to wait for an hour ! I accepted it since at this point I just wanted to finish the card ! Then the second lady came to do my nails ! She brought an open package of equipments and claimed that she just opened it ! When I requested to bring another package since I feel more comfortable, she screamed and said that's my last package. I was shocked ! I work in customer service industry ! I know how the service should be to create great customer experience ! I had been coming to this Pure location since October 2016, when I started woking nearby. I had appointments every 2-3 weeks for that entire time, with very few exceptions. Service had always been ok and friendly (not 100% of the time, but thing happen, I get it). This last time was my very last at Pure. I booked an appointment online a week and half prior to the appointment, as I had my work holiday function the following day AND I am performing on a show this weekend. Naturally, I wanted to have my gel mani-pedi done for these events. My appointment was booked for 5pm, but I got delayed by a few minutes, so I called into the salon and said my name, and that I was running a few minutes late. The person on the phone confirmed my name, asked how late I was going to be, I said 5 minutes, they said ok. When I arrived at the salon, they claimed I did not have an appointment. I insisted I did, to which they replied "we can't do anything, we have other customers". I said I had called 10 minutes before and said my name and no issues were brought up with my appointment, to which she replied they had not gotten a call from me, and the number I was dialling was not even their phone number. Flabbergasted, I dialled the number I had previously dialled, and their phone rang right in front of me. After much rudeness on their part, another manicurist finally admitted she did take my call, but wasn't really sure of my name on the appointment calendar, and just confirmed anyway. At this point, everyone in the place is staring and watching the discussion, making me feel incredibly uncomfortable. I pointed out I had been coming to this location for over a year, regularly, booking appointments online and over the phone. They just said "yeah I remember you, there's still nothing we can do, we have other people who have appointments". I have never felt so disrespected in a nail salon before, especially one I have been patronizing for so long, and is more expensive than others in the area. Feeling humiliated, I left, and did not get my nails done for my work function. This was a huge complication in my really tight schedule, as this week is particularly busy for me. I am still trying to find an appointment elsewhere prior to my show on Sunday. Obviously not the end of the world, but quite frustrating, considering I had everything planned and scheduled. I went to Pure Nail Bar after hearing lots of great things about it. Let me preface this review by saying that I have lost count of the number of shellac/gel manicures I've had in the past from "cheap and cheerful" places, so this wasn't my first gel manicure. I usually say that those manicures will grow out, before they wear off - that's how indestructable they are! This gel manicure at Pure Nail Bar cost me over $50 including a tip, which is by FAR the most expensive manicure I've ever had, but I thought fine - maybe this is a case of "you get what you pay for". Imagine how disappointed I was when my gel manicure started to peel off 5 days after I got it. By day 7, the polish on all but one nail had peeled off. Usually, when you peel gel polish off, it severely damages the nail bed underneath and you can tell that you have peeled it off very clearly. In this case, there was no damage to my nail bed -- the polish had just lifted off. I had been on holiday for those five days (I got it the day before I went away) - so I had hardly been doing anything strenuous that would make them wear off sooner! I called them back and they were really nice about it and said that shouldn't happen, but maybe if my nails were short then this is why it happened. My nails are not long but not super short either - but I think that is rubbish. The problem was with the manicure, not the length of my nails. Any way, they did re-do my entire manicure for no charge and were very understanding and pleasant about it, which I was really happy about. However, I'm writing this review now because my manicure is AGAIN starting to peel off, less than a week after I got it (got the manicure on Friday night, yesterday - Wednesday - I started noticing them start to peel). it was two different people with different polish and different UV equipment - so I really don't know what the problem is here but this has NEVER happened to me before. I'm so disappointed with this place and there's no way I will go back, or recommend it. Paying over $50 for a gel manicure is way over the odds, especially if it's going to last LESS THAN A WEEK! I took my Mom for a Pure Hit the Road Foot Massage on Mother's Day. The massage was meant to be 30 minutes; however, the person who was performing the service for my mom started 5 minutes late. She also interrupted my Mom's service to help a customer at the front. Additionally, she did not perform the full exfoliation part of the treatment for her. My mother was quite disappointed when her service ended before mine and ended up being short changed about 7 minutes of treatment. She wrote an email to explain that she was unhappy about her service on Mother's Day and she was not dignified with a response. This place is HORRIBLE!!!!! Do NOT spend any money here, you'll just be throwing it away!! I did a walk in for a full set gel nails. Normally a new set takes about an hour. It took the nail tech 25 minutes to glue the tips on. I should have known that was a sign of things to come. TWO HOURS LATER... She finally finished. She kept asking my advice on how to do nails (wtf?) and was very nervous & slow. I got the very distinct impression that she was new, but even then, 3 days later and ALL OF MY NAILS HAVE COME OFF! This has never happened before with any of my sets. I've been getting gels for 15 years. I called to speak to the manager to demand a refund and after some women who said her son owns the store answers it she tells me that the owner can't speak to me, but someone might call me the next day. "Might"??? Ill keep posting as to the conclusion of this but please do NOT go to this place. Besides getting the worse set of nails I've ever gotten, it was very quiet, the staff didn't talk to anyone, the tv show they had on was quiet (with no laugh track or music. Stupid sounding, I know, but it just added to the awkwardness of the place) and no one offered me coffee/tea or water until an hour into the service. For $60, go somewhere legit with education & experience. I've learned my lesson! No more walk ins for me!!!! read more

The only positive thing I can say about Pure Nails is that the staff were friendly. I had a regular mani/pedi. Because it was applied too quickly it did not dry properly (even though I had dryers on them for about 20 mins)and looked awful before I got home. I will have to remove it all tomorrow. The woman who did my nails kept stopping to watch the TV and moaning that she couldn't wait for her day at work to end. Super unprofessional and the worst manicure I have ever had. Won't be back! I booked an appointment at this location to get rid of my pedicure gift certificate that I received 3 years ago before my first child was born. This was my 2nd pedicure in my life and certainly the worst experience ever!! Before I sat down, there were nail clippings on the chairs....soooo gross!! The foot bath was extremely hot and I have a high pain tolerance. The cuticle cutting hurt even a day or 2 after the appointment. After watching the girl work on my feet with her tools, I'm not sure if they were disinfected at all. The foot massage entailed some punching of my feet...I don't think this is normal. I didn't see other girls doing that on their clients. When she put the hot towel on my legs and feet...that was extremely hot too. The actual application of the nail polish was very poorly done. The girl that was doing my pedicure left to perform a manicure on another client...so the manager set up the polish dryer for me. The outlets were on the walls above the chairs and the power bar had a 3 ft long cord, so the power bar was hanging off the wall beside me. They didn't say how long my feet should be under there and it was getting hot too. I eventually left without saying a word to anyone. If ever I get a gift certificate/card for this place...I will just give it back or give it to someone on the street. read more

Great little oasis in the middle of the city. We decided to stop in on a whim, and were happy that staff were able to accommodate us almost immediately. The service was excellent, and we were both thrilled with our gel-mani's. The aestheticians (Joanne & Hannah) were really nice. I'll definitely be back! read more
