Helen & her team do their very best to get you in with little notice if they have room and are very accommodating with new ideas for nail art. So me and my friend wanted to have a nice relaxing pedi, and my friend recommended this place. She explained that it's a little more pricey but quieter, so you can chat and enjoy, so I made an appt for us on a Sunday. We arrived 5 mins before our reservation and every pedicure seat was taken. Which was fine, we figured it would take 5-10 mins for us to pick our colours and get settled. 35 minutes later we were seated. So right off the bat, I am not impressed. But even worse, we had to share the same girl, going back and forth, doing our pedicures. She never introduced herself, apologized for the wait, nothing. So the experience was really awkward and not personal, or really enjoyable. To pay $45 for a gel pedicure, and have this kind of service, I wont be back. And granted, we may have hit a busy day! But there are so many other places I can go to, this just wasn't the place for me. The good things I can say is atleast we were sat together! Another side note, they play R rated movies....so if you're not a fan of hearing the f word a lot, then this also may not be the place for you. read more

This place is nice. I've been here twice because my sister-in-law lives nearby. The staff are sweet and they do a good job. The prices are average but I like going to places with the fancy massage chairs to spoil myself even more. Both times I've gone my nailpolish has lasted a really long time! On this last visit my daughter and I had fun sitting on the couch together laughing at Mean Girls. I've been here about 3 or 4 other times over the year, and love their idea of the stamp card! However this time around I was so disappointed. I had booked a time slot for a friend and I. She had to wait until someone else left so she could sit next to me while I got started, but it wasn't too long after. The pedicure felt rushed and careless. She didn't ask me how I wanted my nails cut (she didn't file, so upon closer inspection they are slightly jagged looking), no scrub and no massage. It lasted about 15-20 minutes including shellac removal and paid full price. Then she ripped off the toe spacers before I had a chance to sit down on the couch to let the nails dry. I could tell why our service was rushed - it was evident there were so many walk ins that they were agreeing to (about 4 walk ins waiting) so our booked appointments were rushed so they could just fill the seat with the next person. I really liked this place. The girl that did my hands was really nice and did a beautiful shellac job. This place is clean and nice on the inside, don't be deceived by the outside entrance. I also liked how they play great movies while you get your nails done. Just for the record...my nails still haven't chipped and it's been 15 days! I just dropped in on a rainy Saturday afternoon as I waited for my car to be fixed a few doors down. I just wanted a manicure and they were able to accommodate me within 5-10 minutes. What I want is always the simplest of manicures. My hands tend to be a dry mess, so I just want the beautician to do a reasonable job of pushing back my cuticles, hydrating my hands and putting one coat of the most natural-looking polish that can be found. So if your needs are fancier than mine, this review may not apply to you. A nice lady took care of me and was just chatty enough: considerate, friendly, and nice to talk with, but not invasive. For the duration of the manicure, I sat on one of their orange couches, which was nice and firm. They play chick flicks on a TV for all clients to see. The manicure itself was uneventful, which is a good thing, and the whole process was enjoyable. They appear to have a broad range of OPI colours, but all I cared about what that they had either Bubblebath or Passion (which they did). Overall the place looked very clean and uncluttered. Despite the fact that my hands were looking pretty bad walking in, they were nicely prettyfied by the whole process. It's been a week now and the polish is just starting to chip. The cuticles also still look pretty good, considering the state they were in prior to the manicure. At $25 (before tax and tip), this is not the cheapest manicure in town, but definitely not excessive considering the quality of the service and results. I will definitely return. read more

All the staff were kind and wonderful and took their time (even more so once I told them how sensitive and thin skinned my fingers are). Love the fun orange colour of the place. The staff is very friendly and you get to watch girly movies as your polish dries. It is very clean, when they say it will be 10 minutes... it will be 10 minutes. My nails look awful. I hadn't had my nails done in over a month (my regular place has been closed for renovations). I was going to a stagette party that day so I was desperate to get my nails done, and in my haste didn't fully inspect my finished nails until I was on my way home... I arrived 15 minutes early to explain my situation (I had acrylic done and wanted to go back to gel.) I've always had french tips so I specifically asked if they'd be able to do french gel over the previous acrylic that was grown out and lifting off. I was told that wouldn't be a problem. The results are nails that are unevenly filed, with the old (yellowed) acrylic visible under the gel. The shape and length don't match, and the thickness of the gel varies on each nail. Some nails look heavy and thick, while others are shaped better. Within the first week the gel started lifting off. I've never been so disappointed in how my nails look. read more

I had some problems with my gel nails lifting, and I had gone to Main Nail Studio in the past and was pleasantly surprised so I went back this time too. I got a seat near a window so I could enjoy the sights, and they were playing a movie on the tv, not one of those cheezy reality shows I personally don't like. Emily was my girl and she was just lovely! She took really great care of me and fixed up my two nails right away. When she was done not only did I have a great new set of nails, but you couldn't even tell they were gels. I would definitely recommend Emily to be your nail fixer upper. read more

Very disappointed with the customer service. My 12 y/o daughter and her 3 friends made reservations for a birthday treat manicure - they planned this all on their own. Even though they made reservations, my daughter was not seated at a table but instead had to hold her arms up while her nails were done on the couch. Meanwhile a "walk in" adult customer took her spot at the table beside her friends. She still paid full price. Of course my daughter was too polite to complain, but when I called after I was treated very rudely. Her nails look really cute though. I've been coming to this place on and off for years. And I normally don't post bad reviews but had such a shockingly bad experience today. I got a mani-pedi two days ago and it looked good after I left. The staff are usually quite polite and nice. Yesterday I noticed one finger was chipped so I called and asked if I could come in for a fix. She made an appointment for me today. The girl that did my fix was snobby and rude. I was already seat when she came; I showed her my nail and she asked me if I got it done here. I said yes. She said something about how the polish doesn't chip. I explained that I got a mani and pedi two days ago on Monday and I called yesterday. Then she said last week? I said no, two days ago, they (referring to the polish) don't last that long. I don't know if she was insinuating that it's wear and tear related. She did not talk to me the whole time and didn't take off the old polish before applying the new polish. She just sanded it a bit. Then after applying the top coat she just walked away. She came back with tools to help another client and said to me "it's dry". I asked her if I could leave? Another coworker came over and asked if it's ok. I showed her my "fix". That nail's polish was visibly thicker than the rest and lumpy. To be honest did not look very good but I didn't want to make a scene. So I just said it's ok and left. I'm quite shocked at the rudeness of this younger girl. read more

Within 1 week the whole right hand had popped off its suppose to last a month. I asked that the owner call me and she never did. I didnt find out until going to another salon how it's really done. This was my first visit to the Main Nail Studio even though they are so close to my house! I went in to have a shellac manicure the day before a big fundraiser for work and I am so glad I did, my nails look great and my dry hands don't look dry anymore. I called the day before hoping to make an appointment on short notice and expecting them to be booked up but they were accommodating and made the appointment at the time that was the most convenient for me. My hands have been really dry from the weather and from washing lots so CiCi took great care to make my hands look healthier. She was very friendly and threw around lots of compliments, who doesn't love that! She also asked me about how I would like my nails shaped which some places don't do, and gave me a hand and arm massage after finishing my nails which, again, some places don't do. CiCi was fun to talk to about work and the movie that was on (some romantic comedy which she said they play because their customers like the genre). They also have a stamp card so that with every 10 mani or pedi you get 1 free. First time I have seen this at a nail salon and it is definitely incentive to go back, but even without the card I will go back as their customer service is excellent and the work they did on my nails was beautiful. Overall, I was really happy and I think it's important to note that they pay attention to what their clients like/need and cater to that. read more

Also both of our nails were bleeding by end of manicure and no hand massage for either of us. At one point the lady was moving her chair between three people. **This is by far the worst salon I've ever been to. DONT GO ** The technician spilled a lot of nail polish remover on my brand new leather purse. It's ruined. Honestly, I would not make a problem of an accident like this normally - however, the service was bad, they were rude, they hurt my hand, and they did not offer me any apologies, discount, etc. And to top it off, the manicure was so bad that it chipped of that very night. That's never happens to me before. At first I let it go, but when I went back to get the manicure redone again, they were rude, again. I have called the owner/manager almost every day for two weeks to discus the purse (I just want an apologie!) and she has NEVER returned my call. This salon is always empty for a good reason. I have a hunch the other reviews are fake. Don't go. If they call me back I'll update this post. For now I am telling all my friends about the sad service. I feel bad for this salon. A bit of kindness would do them good I wish I didn't have to post this. read more

I've come here many times before but never had a negative experience. I came in to make an appointment the day before for 2 pedicures and arrived around 10 minutes early. We were rushed in, and sat not even near one another. I've gotten pedicures here before, and know the drill but the owner who was working on me did not take her time at all. She kept pressuring me to choose a colour, and skipped out on scrubbing my feet! She also kept getting up to take calls and book appointments (even for in the next half hour) which I thought was odd. The other girls working were being rushed as well by her as more people were coming in. Throughout the middle of my visit, she then told me to sit beside my mom because another lady had left. I was confused because if I had come in to book 2 pedicures together, and they knew we were coming at a certain time, why not save two chairs beside each other for the appointment? Didn't like that she kept running to the phone as well. Me and my mom would have gladly waited for our appointment to be seated together and having staff that took their time with us! Most people come to get their nails done to relax and have fun not to be rushed in and out just for money! Used to really love this place but will try somewhere new!!! read more

I am sorry to to post a negative review. I have been a faithful customer here since they opened. In the summer I come every 2 weeks for a mani/pedi. Have spent hundreds of dollars here over the past 5 years. Last year I had a gel mani before a vacation as I wanted the manicure to last for two weeks. Within 3 days while away the gel all peeled off, so it didn't even last as long as a regular mani which I can usually get a good week out of. On return, complained to Helen the owner. I was astonished that she did not offer any thing, eg to redo the gel mani or offer me a regular mani for free to make up, and remember I am a loyal customer of years standing. Anyways I kept coming as they are convenient for me, usually do a very good job, are friendly and the salon is very comfortable and clean. So recently I was there and was cut quit severely on my big toe blood everywhere. Basically I think if that happens the service should be free. Also for this mani/pedi I was just having them file my nails and clean up my cuticles on my hands, no polish. So the nail tech speaks to Helen the owner in Chinese. I do not speak Chinese, but it seemed obvious to me she was asking if she should charge the full amount given the cut and that there was no polish on hands. But no dice, I was charged the full ride. I paid it, but I will never go back. Helen, you have lost a loyal regular customer because of this. I guess you have never heard the saying, penny wise and pound foolish. read more

When I called to book an appointment I asked if my manicure and pedicure could be done at the same time. They said it it could and I booked my appt. I scheduled my whole day and alotted myself 45min for my appt. When I arrived (10min early) they confirmed that I wanted my mani and pedi done at the same time. I was directed to have a seat and they proceeded to start doing my pedi. After 15min my pedi was almost done and when I asked if someone was going to start me mani soon, they told me that they made a mistake and were not able to do both at the same time. While they were saying this to me, they were doing a mani and pedi at the same time for another client that had come after me!! I understand that mistakes happen, but why was this not communicated to me before I asked??! They could have called me and I would have resceduled my appt for a time that they were able to do both. I would have even appreciated them letting me know when I arrived so I could have made other arrangements. I am totally unimpressed with how this oversight was handled. I will never go back to this place and I will tell everyone I know to find another place to get your nails done that respect appts that are made! Super grumpy!!!! read more
