December 30 2025... I had an appointment for New gel extensions and a Pedi and at the beginning I felt comfortable but Then the rep doing my nails placed a cushion under my nails and continued to paint my nails over my expensive coat. I'm literally perched on a slant, which could have easily led to a drop or two on a puffer jacket. I rushed to move my jacket and the nail tech made me feel like I couldn't move fast enough. She kept rushing me and she wasn't friendly to me at all! I wanted extensions and she thought I just wanted gel, it's okay, there was a mistake but she continued to argue with me until I asked for the supervisor. She wasn't nice to me at all. Then when it came time to do my gel extensions, again and every time I go to Jenny's, they place me in the doorway. It was freezing today. Rosie asked me what time I had to leave and she confirmed that she would be finished by 12:15pm...but yes it's the eve of New Year's eve, every 5 minutes she stopped to assist walk ins on my time. My next appointment called me while the tech continued to do my nails and again stopped to greet walk ins who were hovering over my head. Rosie also had to call to get verification, so again, she had to stop. I was late for my next appointment but thank goodness she was just across the street. I paid $117 to get my nails and pedi done and instead of feeling a relaxing spa experience, I felt like I was getting my nails done in the middle of Commercial drive with pedestrians walking in between me and the nail tech. Too, any new customers that came behind me and were placed in the other cubicles behind me and therefore closer to the exit could Still get their nails done with No interruptions...so walk ins would go past them and stop over my shoulder....this must of been 5 times. This seems to happen every time I go to Jenny's that they place me in the doorway...I'm beginning to feel like I'm getting the Minority treatment so next time I will have to say no....that's not fair* I wanted to TIP the tech that did my pedi, she was so nice and attentive, but I felt so frustrated with the lack of customer service today! read more

I went in asking for a mani/pedi bringing my own gel nail polish I had bought by mistake as I didn't have the equipment to dry it. Didn't know anything about the polish, but when the gal applied it to my toe nails, she did something that gave in a line across the nail, it looked nice, but I thought it was something special about the polish. Lily asked if I like it, and I answered "yes". Another girl came to do the manicure, cut me twice, and was acting like she didn't understand when I started to ask questions, when I went to the cash to pay and asked how much, I was shocked to hear $92. And change, I asked how much was a mani pedi, and was told $55. but you had a nail fixed, that was $5 more. So why the extra, because we did the cats eye? That was what the lines were, but I didn't ask for it, I didn't know what to do, I felt I was conned, deceived. I was told If I pay cash it would be $88. but I only had $75., I should have paid $60+ tax, but didn't want to make a scene. Long story longer, I ended up paying $96.65 because I felt the gal that did the pedi should have a tip for doing a great job, I would not go back, I wouldn't trust them. read more

This was my first time getting my nails done here, and I came on recommendation from a friend. The place was packed so I guess they have a good reputation, but I was a little surprised to see they operating above 50% capacity. Everyone was wearing masks but no-one was checking vaccine QR codes. This place is quite the whole in the wall. I was at station two which is very close to the door, and it was freezing. I had to put my jacket on! I decided to get acrylics. The woman who did my nails was lovely, however I did notice some of the nails were crooked. I mentioned it to her but at that point the gel powder had set and there was nothing she could do except try to file the nail to make it in line with my finger. I was pleasantly surprised that end the end of my appointment, she gave me the nail files she used on me and told me to bring them in next time to use (sustainability!) however I didn't see her sanitize her other tools before or after use, which surprised me. Overall, not sure I'd make the trek to commercial just to get my nails done here again, but at the end of the day, they are wearable and festive. read more

I just had a super traumatic experience at Jenny's Nail Salon on Commercial Drive and I wanted to share it in hopes that it even deters just one person from going through what I just did: I went to Jenny's for my first ever set of acrylics back in November 2021 and then a fill in December and was happy with the aesthetic appearance. This morning (mid-Jan 2022) I had an accident and dropped something heavy that caused one of my acrylics to fully pop right off and another to lift the whole natural nail over 3/4s off, perpendicularly up. I panicked, pushed it down, slapped a bandaid on it, called the salon. I called and came in right away to have the damaged nail cut back until it's healed enough to remove, and the rest of the set removed. It was my first set so I was unsure of what to expect but had thought the proper way to remove acrylics involved soaking to soften them. Instead, my nail tech filed them down (aggressively- very hot feeling) and pried them straight off with a little spatula knife. It hurt terribly and I told her so, but she would just move to another nail briefly before coming back and continuing no matter how much I verbally expressed I was in significant pain. The result was horrific- my natural nails are a peeling, ridged, uneven mess, and in trying to forcefully prise the acrylic from my pinky, she ripped my nail to bits, right down to the nail bed. She then put vitamin e and another oil on my nails and I told her I was concerned about putting anything on that pinky, asked if it was safe for the exposed nail bed, and if it would hurt, she said it was fine. It was NOT- I literally cried out loudly in pain (startling other customers) and had to forcefully make her stop. I left and called my friend who is a retired esthetician to get some advice and see if this is in any way normal and she was absolutely horrified. I know now this was NOT normal/what should be done. I should have walked out, but I didn't know any better, this being my first set. I feel like an absolute fool for continuing to sit there in agony. I am now left with painfully ruined nails and many many months of growing ahead of me before I won't feel ashamed and embarrassed by how they look. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE save yourself the physical and emotional trauma and stay far far away from this place!! I'm in tears kicking myself that I sat thru this in my ignorance read more

I love this salon! My girl is Julie, she's so sweet and so great. She ALWAYS does a fantastic job, works fast, never hurts/cuts me as well. I'm super busy so it's hard for me to come in earlier to get fills done so I always have broken nails, I'm sure it's annoying but she never complains. I get gel nails for occasions, and it is always a fast service and I can make a booking 2 days in advance. I paid $41.16 in July 2023 for gels with extension, and $58.80 in Dec 2023, so the price has increased. I called in Jan 2024 to price the removal of gels and put on shellac and they said about $30. I went to my appointment, and it took 30-40 mins for them to remove my gels - I think the person may have been new, she kept forgetting to turn the light back on every time it turned off when my hands were underneath and it was a slow process. They then said my nails were too weak to put shellac on (I have weak nails in general but they have never been this weak). They then charged me $21 to remove the gel nails (if I had gotten the shellac they said initially it would be $30 so that does not make sense). I wish I had just removed the gel nails myself, my nails would be in the same condition as they are now. It's a great service if you need nails done fast and all the staff are nice, I had the gels for over 3 weeks and they were not lifting, but I think charging me $21 to remove gel nails was ridiculous. read more

I have been seeing Jenny and Julie for over 7 years now. My nails are still happy and healthy. They are the absolute best!! I am currently living both in California and Vancouver but refuse to get my nails done in California. I will actually wait the 4 weeks and fly back to get my nails filled! #loyalclient The best part is that my nails last! I used to do only Classic French nails using biogel and finally after 4 years. I transitioned to ombre French nails using acrylic powder. I think that is what it's called. Love love it. There is no lifting even after 3 weeks! I mean everyone has different nail growth but for me at least I could easily go 4 weeks before a fill. I attached some pictures so u can see! The first is a fresh set of French ombre. Wouldn't that put you in a good mood? :) Service/skills: I occasionally do acrylic (when travelling) and they are strongly attentive to detail. They take extra time to fix the nails they make a mistake on (add more acrylic if its too short) or if the shape is slightly "off" which is why I love these guys so much! Usually I go for a Manicure with gel polish. I don't often watch my nails getting painted but damn she did it so well it was hard not to watch! Rarely did she make a mistake and it was painted even on all nails (no weird shape and didnt look overly layered). I'm really upset to write a negative review about Jenny's nails because the 2 times that I've been to get my nails done were really good(application wise) not communication+hygiene wise. When I called to book & ask for prices she said $55 so I booked the spot cuz that was in my budget and same price I paid for last time I came here. I got the same nails done that I did last time cuz I knew the price so she was almost done with my nails when I asked her "how much will my nails be?" she said "it will be 67 because of the tax" I came to the place because my budget was $65 tip included but when she was done she said it'll be $70!!!! How did the price go from 55 to 70 I didn't get any design or anything extra from before. Absolutely rip off and misleading! I asked the other girl why it was so expensive this time she said "because we gave you the file and buffer that we used on you" I didn't even want the file and buffer cuz I have a bunch at home & I wasn't informed that the used file will be included with the price. At my workplace we give file and buffer FOR FREE to our clients so why is Jenny's nails making their customers pay for it?? The place is dirty, the table I sat by, & the tools she used. The lady that did my acrylics had the drill tools in a box & they looked like they haven't been sterilized as it had white particles all over it. This is horrendous because these metal and silver tools NEED to be sterilized before each client even if you're busy, you should have spare ones ready for each client. I really love the way she did my nails ( I don't know her name because she didn't introduce herself.) but this is really upsetting as I love the talent but not how they make clients come thinking it'll be cheaper then they add 10-15$ extra when the client is done. I have come here quite a few times and am usually fairly happy with the result. I complained that I wasn't happy with my nails once about 3 years ago when i first tried the place and didn't go back after that until recently. About 2 months ago I decided to try the place again. It was way better than before. So I went biweekly religiously until today. When i went in, the girl who did my nails was not very good and i was not impressed with my manicure. they were not shaped the same, the cuticles were all rough. The girl had asked me if I wanted to same shape as before (which were square with slight round edges) and they were mainly round which i loathe. The colour was also lighter than I had wanted and the girls response was that they didn't need another coat because they would be too thick but then put 2 top coats on instead which i have never seen before. I had to ask her to fix 4 nails because they were rough or pointed. and felt like taking the file and doing it myself. To "fix" my cuticles being too rough (the same places she did not pay attention to during the manicure itself) she kept cutting away at my cuticles after they were already dry. At the end I just said that i wasn't happy with the end result of my manicure but was happy with the pedicure. I wasn't rude. I was just upfront about the fact that they were not to my liking. I said I never complain about my nails. The woman i just so happened to complain to 3 years ago said in vietnamese that i always complain (which the woman i was dealing with translated to english). So the end result was that they told me I should only come in for pedicures and go somewhere else for manicures...right in front of the rest of their clientele that was there. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! VERY RUDE! As a person giving a service, you are supposed to be understanding that you might have an employee who does sub-par work. I always tip well, even after this i still tipped well. because the woman who did my pedicure did a good job. A better way for them to handle this would have been to apologize and ask if they could redo it for me. Not to mention: the woman who did my nails dropped everything on the floor and then proceeded to use them on my nails. read more
