    Fresh gel mani. #720
    Esther C.

Walked in without an appointment. They were able to accommodate my friend and I. The ladies that did my pedi (regular polish) and my gel mani paid so much attention to the details. This is one of the best mani-pedi experience I've ever had. I will for sure visit them when I'm in town again

This was my first time getting my nails done here, and I came on recommendation from a friend. The place was packed so I guess they have a good reputation, but I was a little surprised to see they operating above 50% capacity. Everyone was wearing masks but no-one was checking vaccine QR codes. This place is quite the whole in the wall. I was at station two which is very close to the door, and it was freezing. I had to put my jacket on! I decided to get acrylics. The woman who did my nails was lovely, however I did notice some of the nails were crooked. I mentioned it to her but at that point the gel powder had set and there was nothing she could do except try to file the nail to make it in line with my finger. I was pleasantly surprised that end the end of my appointment, she gave me the nail files she used on me and told me to bring them in next time to use (sustainability!) however I didn't see her sanitize her other tools before or after use, which surprised me. Overall, not sure I'd make the trek to commercial just to get my nails done here again, but at the end of the day, they are wearable and festive.

WORST EXPERIENCE!! No soaking, just ripped the acrylic straight off my nail with a knife tool, damaged natural nail right down to the bed

I just had a super traumatic experience at Jenny's Nail Salon on Commercial Drive and I wanted to share it in hopes that it even deters just one person from going through what I just did: I went to Jenny's for my first ever set of acrylics back in November 2021 and then a fill in December and was happy with the aesthetic appearance. This morning (mid-Jan 2022) I had an accident and dropped something heavy that caused one of my acrylics to fully pop right off and another to lift the whole natural nail over 3/4s off, perpendicularly up. I panicked, pushed it down, slapped a bandaid on it, called the salon. I called and came in right away to have the damaged nail cut back until it's healed enough to remove, and the rest of the set removed. It was my first set so I was unsure of what to expect but had thought the proper way to remove acrylics involved soaking to soften them. Instead, my nail tech filed them down (aggressively- very hot feeling) and pried them straight off with a little spatula knife. It hurt terribly and I told her so, but she would just move to another nail briefly before coming back and continuing no matter how much I verbally expressed I was in significant pain. The result was horrific- my natural nails are a peeling, ridged, uneven mess, and in trying to forcefully prise the acrylic from my pinky, she ripped my nail to bits, right down to the nail bed. She then put vitamin e and another oil on my nails and I told her I was concerned about putting anything on that pinky, asked if it was safe for the exposed nail bed, and if it would hurt, she said it was fine. It was NOT- I literally cried out loudly in pain (startling other customers) and had to forcefully make her stop. I left and called my friend who is a retired esthetician to get some advice and see if this is in any way normal and she was absolutely horrified. I know now this was NOT normal/what should be done. I should have walked out, but I didn't know any better, this being my first set. I feel like an absolute fool for continuing to sit there in agony. I am now left with painfully ruined nails and many many months of growing ahead of me before I won't feel ashamed and embarrassed by how they look. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE save yourself the physical and emotional trauma and stay far far away from this place!! I'm in tears kicking myself that I sat thru this in my ignorance

I love this salon! My girl is Julie, she's so sweet and so great. She ALWAYS does a fantastic job, works fast, never hurts/cuts me as well. I'm super busy so it's hard for me to come in earlier to get fills done so I always have broken nails, I'm sure it's annoying but she never complains. I never want to go to anyone else anywhere else anymore just because she always does such a great job and she's always so sweet and welcoming. Everyone there is very welcoming and nice. Even when I leave i get many goodbyes, even though I only go to Julie.

I've been going here since day 1 and they are AMAZING! They're booked and busy for a reason so make sure to call ahead and secure an appointment :) I live in downtown (an abundance of nail shops), and still make my way to Jenny's Nails on the Drive. Julie, Jenny, Anna, Helen and the rest of the girls are awesome. I used to go with my mom when they first opened and this place will always hold a special place in my heart. Aside from the beautiful nails they create, the women are hardworking, and incredibly kind. Sometimes I see them deal with difficult clients and it blows my mind how patient they are! Makes me love them even more. Be kind, respectful and support local businesses! Thanks for always taking care of your clients! Love, Vicky (Nhi)

Excellent pricing for quality nails, if you ever have an issue Jenny's repairs without hesitation. When I ask for something specific it's easy to communicate with the technicians.

My nails chipped within days of paying over $50. I asked for gel and they told me that I had to "request it ahead of time" and only some technicians would do overlay/acrylic or gel. I decided to contact them on Instagram but no response so I called them and they asked me "why didn't you call earlier? It's 2 weeks" not the customer service I expected and poorly done nails. I've done my nails for years and this was a waste of money. I would not recommend this place to anyone

    Shellac -$21

My first time at Jenny's tonight and it did not disappoint. Best shellac deal in the city at $21. They provide the option of a full mani with shellac for $30 but if you don't care for the mani - cuticle cutting/massage at the end, they offer shellac colour for $20! They shaped my nails and filed them for me and did a great job. So thrilled with this experience, this is my new regular nail spot now!

    Fresh set

I have been seeing Jenny and Julie for over 7 years now. My nails are still happy and healthy. They are the absolute best!! I am currently living both in California and Vancouver but refuse to get my nails done in California. I will actually wait the 4 weeks and fly back to get my nails filled! #loyalclient The best part is that my nails last! I used to do only Classic French nails using biogel and finally after 4 years. I transitioned to ombre French nails using acrylic powder. I think that is what it's called. Love love it. There is no lifting even after 3 weeks! I mean everyone has different nail growth but for me at least I could easily go 4 weeks before a fill. I attached some pictures so u can see! The first is a fresh set of French ombre. And the second is 4 week old set using all white powder acrylic. I would definitely recommend booking an appointment so you avoid waiting Cuz they are usually booked!

Everytime I come here, I'm pleasantly surprised and greeted so nicely! They do an amazing job with shape, application, and polish. I usually go to Helen or Julie (or Jenny, not sure), and Tracy, but everyone there is a professional and does a beautiful job

I've been seeing Jenny for my services for 5 years now. It was recommended to me by a friend and I've been a regular a ince! I go for my acrylic nails and for my pedicures, and have even gotten my boyfriend into pedicures. Jenny consistently puts in effort to improve her business. Even in the past 5 years I've been going, the salon has seen lots of upgrades! Any picture I bring in, they've been able to do the look. I've even asked for Jenny to special order items for designs and she has! This salon never disappoints. The environment is serene, you can watch tv, and there's also a washroom inside. Every one is friendly and well trained. Here is a photo of my most recent set! I love that Jenny puts photos of clients online such as yelp, google, and Instagram! Thank you Jenny's Nails on the Drive

This is the best nail salon I have been. Though the place is a bit cramp but they do an excellent job in making your nails pretty. I have always requested Evelyn. She is the sweetest I have ever met. She does a really excellent job in making my nails pretty :) price is good and service is excellent.

Though I added paraffin ($15) to my hands, they did push both the manicure-pedicure in shellac because they stated the regular polish would not dry in time ($25). I also did not know there was a 5% tax on services in Canada. However, they do give you 5% discount for writing a review - though instead of $129.68, they charged me $131.78 because they only took off the 5% on the $90 shellac manicure-pedicure. Even after I tipped both of the technicians $20 each in US currency, I was disappointed that they were dishonest when I pointed out to them about the discount not having been applied to the total amount and they said it was the tax. I had Trish and Miley; both were excellent with the trim, shape, and polish. The hand and foot/leg massages were just okay. I have the manicure at the same time as the pedicure, but it was quite uncomfortable to have to sit on an angle for both my hands to be done to one side of the chair. Because the receptionist was chatting away with both of them, they were not paying attention and not looking at their sanding and buffing of my nails at the beginning, which was also uncomfortable to my hand and feet cuticles. Last, the foot exfoliation was also not thorough because it was done during the time that the conversation was happening. All in all, I would still recommend!

I asked for French tip with a coating of chrome dust on top. Anytime I've asked for French tip, I find some aestheticians take quite long to do it but Kieran was sharp and speedy. I walked in at 10:20am and was out of there by 11:30am. He even added abit of length to my thumb as my nail had just broken off prior to getting there. I'm super happy with the quality and the precision of the French tip. It was definitely on the pricier side with French being an extra $15 and chrome an additional $15 on top of a regular gel mani. Total before tip was around $70. I didn't mind spending extra to ensure my nails looked great for my wedding weekend!

However. I unfortunately had an appointment the day after an unexpected snowstorm dumped 15-25 centimeters of snow on the city, and because I don't live on a major thoroughfare, I couldn't leave my neighbourhood. I texted the salon the afternoon before my appointment to apologize for not giving 48 hours' notice, and to ask if they would be willing to cancel my appointment because I was trapped in my neighbourhood and couldn't get out. The person who responded - I assume, the owner? - refused to waive the mandatory no-show charge. Small business owners are hurting, I get that. But so are the rest of us, and having to throw away money on an appointment I couldn't honor through no fault of my own is ridiculous and heartless behaviour. I was prepared to buy gift certificates to the salon for several of my friends, but I won't spend money in a salon whose owner doesn't show a trace of empathy for me or for her technicians.
