    SomTum Thai (Papaya Salad)

As far as taste, Stang probably offers the most authentic Thai dining in the area. Flavors of every dish were reminiscent of dishes from Thailand itself. We had the chicken fried rice for the kids. I went with the duck in 5 slices broth which was amazing! My wife (not Thai) said it was the best som tum she's had in a long time. We also had the pad Thai, veggie gyoza, and another som tum mango. All dishes were very seasoned and delightful. The place itself is a small sit down spot. The Thai iced coffee was also good. Service was friendly and attentive. I will definitely return.

I tried the food from this restaurant the other day and I must say I was impressed. I enjoyed my drink and food. I ordered a Thai Iced Tea and I had the shrimp summer rolls for my appetizer. I had the Thai Fried Rice with Chicken and it was flavorful. Everything tasted delicious. I ordered takeout and I would definitely order from here again. The restaurant was hot inside and it was quiet. The customers sat outside to enjoy their meals. The service was reasonable and efficient. I will be back to order a different dish next time. Hopefully they get some AC but other than that good food.

What a hidden gem! I feel like this is one of those restaurants you just run into on the street and go in just because.. it's there! Then you find out that the food is amazing! My friend and I got some boba from this place twice without me having tried the food yet. Then, the last day of my vacation, I figured we get lunch there as one of my final meals since it's just a few blocks away. My friend ordered the basil fried rice and I ordered the pineapple fried rice with roasted duck. It was so tasty! The food came out freshly cooked and hot. It was absolutely delicious. I have no complaints about the food whatsoever. It was just amazing comfort food and a great meal coming to the end of my vacation.

I was just driving by and was hungry, and there was a parking spot. This pad see ew is freaking delicious. Way tastier than the three other choices closer to me.

The winds of fate blew me into Stang Thai this afternoon, where my girlfriend and I received a table in the middle of the dining area. The interior isn't terribly big but we mostly had the place to ourselves at that time of day. Seeking a simple repast, we chose to split an order of Sriracha wings (6 for $7) and a chicken spicy (drunken) noodles ($12), extra spicy, along with a Vietnamese coffee ($4). The coffee came out first, followed by the food all at once. Wings benefitted greatly from the sweet and spicy sauce, though the wings themselves seemed a bit cheap. The noodles dish, however, was quite good, nailing the flavors and textures I associate with this dish. I'm glad we ordered extra spicy, as the extra burn heightened the satisfaction of the meal. I was torn between giving this place three stars or four, but even the tasty noodle dish doesn't push this restaurant far above the middle. Fine for neighborhood takeout/delivery but I probably won't be back.

Love this little spot for Thai food, but what amazes me is that they also have Vietnamese food options as well. My boyfriend and I came around 8:30 with my dog just as they were about to close and we were luckily seated. They updated their hours to close at 9pm because of Covid. I ordered the sauteed mixed greens with flank steak and swapped out the rice with coconut sticky rice. My boyfriend ordered their Pho Beef and a Thai Iced Tea. We also ordered curry puffs to start. Everything tasted amazing! My dish was light, but flavorful and the sticky rice was infused with a strong, aromatic coconut taste. The steak was more like beef and slightly overcooked, but it didn't take away from the overall dish. I tried the broth of the pho and it was so delicious! The flavor was complex and made you want to drink it all. I would recommend you try this if you go! The curry puffs were huge and pretty good. We couldn't finish it and had to take it home; well worth the value! The thai ice tea was also very creamy! Great spot to grab a meal with friendly staff and delicious food! They also had hand sanitizers out for customer use! If you're in the area, definitely stop by!

Stopped by Stang Thai on our way home from prospect park and it's such a cute Thai+viet restaurant. Due to covid we ordered take out and each for a bahnmi sandwich. We got the grilled pork and satay chicken sandwich. The portion size is huge! You get two sandwiches per order. It was really tasty and super filling. Will definitely be back to try other items here!

Stang Thai opened up in my neighborhood right around a year ago and I have been a regular ever since! The staff is super knowledgeable about the ingredients in the food. They always remember that I am vegan and help me with suggestions on the rare occasion when I stray from my usual sautéed mixed greens and tofu (ask for no fish sauce if you want it vegan!) I also love the vermicelli, and I just discovered the chive pancakes are vegan too. I've never had these before - crispy deep fried triangles of greens and a crispy batter. So good!! The decor is cozy and the staff is unbelievably friendly too- always waving and saying hi even when I'm just walking by. This is one of those things I always longed for before I moved to Brooklyn, this sense of community and small town feel in the middle of a massive metropolis like NYC. I love this addition to the neighborhood and look forward to being a customer for a long time to come!

We absolutely love this place - their food is great but....I am so sad, we can never eat here again after finding a roach in my sons bubble tea. Yuck!

I love this place! They deliver their soup ingredients separately so you can assemble yourself and things don't get soggy. Their salads are excellent, and all the dishes we've ordered have always been so full of flavor. Highly recommend!!

    Banh Mi

Our go to Bahn Mi place was closed during this covid situation so we decided to try this location close by, we ordered pork Banh Mi and vegetable ( tofu ) buns. Al the food was fresh and packaged wonderfully , zero complaints about presentation and freshness. The vegetable buns were ok but nothing kicked, even the spicy mayo lacked any notice of excitement on the tastebuds. That being said the curiosity of would these taste better had I ordered a meat option? The bun was perfect and the garnish of vegetables inside were decent, again the fried tofu lacked taste which is something one chances when ordering tofu,so for that I don't hold it against the establishment. The "spicy" mayo needs an uplift in its notes, preferably more spice and I am not even someone who goes looking for spicy food. The Banh Mi I thought looked fresh and exciting to taste as soon as we opened it from the package , after a couple bites I would say it definitely tasted fresh! from the bread to the meat it was satisfying as one would expect a decent Banh mi to be, again the spicy mayo inside needs attention and although I don't have the Banh mi from the place I normally go so it's hard to compare, I feel this sandwich was lacking some extra contents but I am not sure what was missing between the roll halves, sort of " I like it but I don't love it feeling" I ended up mixing some sriracha at home with mayo just to add more kick, which I feel helped the taste. Portion wise I felt it was enough to make me feel content, nothing more. I did enjoy the food but I don't feel the need to back any time soon. The Customer service was pleasant and the young lady who took the order was polite. So for customer service I have no complaints.

Great and thoughtful service! Outdoor dining was relaxed & the sunlight made people loiter. This review is for a brunch on Saturday outdoors. There were three takes each could fit 2 people & one table for 4. We ordered appetizers-- crispy chive pancakes, kimchi fries, and papaya salad. All arrived fresh, at the right temperature, and with excellent portions! Also had thai tea Boba which was superb with boba just at right texture and not mushy. The tea was full flavored and not watered down. Loved entrees which included pad sie ewe with a generous portion and spot on worth tangy savory sweet flavor. Next entree was pork belly banh mî which had a crunchy baguette pickled veggies and trinity of mayo/hoisin/sri racha. Overall support pleasant lunch with great modern and old school thai colorful pops and natural textures in all seating areas. Staff was very cordial and support efficient with great service. This place is a gem of gems and affordable with superb quality! 5/5 easy.

The Mama Tom Yum Grilled River Prawns came with stir-fried instant noodles that were surprisingly tasty, well-seasoned and aromatic, and the prawns on top made it even better. The presentation was pretty eye-catching too. As for the Ground Pork Basil Fried Egg, it didn't have lemongrass, so it felt like it was missing a layer of aroma, but the minced pork was stir-fried until nice and dry, and mixing it with the runny egg yolk made for a satisfying combo over rice. The RUA Volcano reminded me a bit of American-style salt-and-pepper chicken, though not exactly the same--it had more of an American-Chinese vibe to it. The Thai Iced Tea wasn't overly sweet and had a stronger tea flavor, which I appreciated. The Butterfly Pea Lychee Soda was sweet and tangy, refreshing and light. Overall, each dish had its own standout point, and the meal definitely lived up to expectations.

Loved that every table had fresh flowers; you can tell they really care about the little details. We ordered quite a bit and honestly, everything was on point: · Lychee Thai Iced Tea & Yuzu Pop - both refreshing and not too sweet (huge plus for me since I don't have a big sweet tooth). · Moo Ping - solid start to the meal. · Salmon Mango (GF) - the salmon was cooked through (which I asked for), and the mango salad underneath was light and tangy. The sweet fruit with the savory fish worked way better than I expected. · Pineapple Fried Rice - came with shrimp, nice wok aroma, and that perfect sweet-tangy pineapple kick. · Pineapple Lychee Crispy Duck (GF) - duck skin was nice and crispy, and the coconut-based sauce with lychee and pineapple kept it from feeling heavy or greasy. · Branzino Chili Lime (GF) - came out piping hot, classic Thai-style sour broth that paired perfectly with the fish. No fishy taste at all, and the texture was tender. Even the drinks and dessert weren't overly sweet, which was a pleasant surprise. I dislike bamboo shoot which is not a standard ingredient for this particular entrée. I think the bamboo shoot tainted this entrée. I am a traditionalist conservative which bean sprouts is a good substitute variation for bamboo shoot vegetable including string bean. This entrée is my favorite default and as a caveat, if any Thai restaurant or cafe do not offer on their menu I refuse entry to patronize. This entrée enticed my interest and embedded the lunch meal menu for the reasonable price. I personally despise and do not consume spicy hot foods, but occasionally consume mild or very mild in the smallest measurement of the Scoville scale which I specifically requested, but received medium hot spicy. The waitress forewarned me the intense heat level on the Scoville scale as Thai cultural spicy with two or more bird's eye chilies for a high level of spiciness. The spiciness of chili peppers were, in my opinion, medium spicy. Despite the intense medium heat spiciness, the stir-fried noodles lacked flavor with, tender chicken, minimal vegetables, and Thai basil in a bland taste. I wish I chosen shrimp as the protein. Pad Kee Mao sustained my hunger pangs and ate my fill. When eating Thai intense heat spicy foods, I visualize to think of the TV segment "Niall Horan & James Corden Take On Hot Wings" on "The Late Late Show with James Corden" in March, 2020. If utensils are gold then the interior cafe should contain these "gaudy" feature extensive gold elements, including gilded moldings and furniture. Peony rose are very simply and made pretty table centerpiece decorations. Takeout menu and business cards are available for grabs. I did received my sales receipt. At the bottom of the sales receipt there is a suggested gratuity in intervals of 18%, 20% and 22% where customers do not have to perform math calculation. I paid $23.00 in cash as the waitress' informative knowledge of the ingredients and preparation of the heat level on the Scoville scale.

My partner was running late, and even though the place is clearly very popular right now, they still accommodated us with a table. The staff explained every unfamiliar dish we asked about, always with a smile. I usually avoid the standard NYC Thai restaurant lineup of pad thai + generic curry situations and look for places that feel more regional and authentic. The menu here had a bunch of dishes I didn't recognize, which immediately made me excited. They even have a spice guide though the icons don't necessarily mean increasing spice levels. As I understood it, different symbols represent different types of heat. Three chili emojis and three meteor emojis may be equally spicy, but they hit differently. They recommended not to order the pad krapow nuer, and honestly, fair enough. Instead, we got the chicken khao soi, which was far better than versions I've had elsewhere - deeply flavorful, spicy, rich with umami. My partner was crying. I, meanwhile, was at "this is perfect and I'm having a great time." One Huge chunk of chicken cooked exactly right. Mix everything thoroughly before eating. Then came the kua kling which arrived with another warning. That dish became my personal challenge to impress the server, and apparently I succeeded because now they've promised that next time they won't discourage me from ordering the nuer. They kept refilling cabbage and cucumber for us to cool down from the heat. The kua kling itself was incredible. That dry curry heat was everything. It builds slowly, then suddenly punches you in the face - but alongside all that spice is an insane amount of flavor. They also recommended to order a non-spicy side dish to have a balanced meal and spice level, but we skipped it because it would've been too much food. Honestly, this is the kind of place where going with at least four people is ideal so you can try more dishes and balance the spice levels. And if you're unsure what to order, trust the servers - their recommendations were spot on. Also: really great ciders and beers. We were really happy with both choices. Overall, even though it's far from the city for me, I'd absolutely go back.

Spicy food, in case you didn't know, connotes authenticity. Call it suffering for beauty, in a culinary wrapper. But something drew me back to this reincarnation, started by the same people. Maybe, I thought, they'd found a way to bring us that magnetic authenticity, and hold the ball gags and chain flails? The answer is no. I should have known from the name alone: another mysterious two-word phrase (both of whose words again end in -y) that sounds like it could be an overly literal translation of some ineffable Thai concept. I should have known when it opened in the same godforsaken corner of ... what is that? Gowanus? I should have known from the protracted negotiations for a suitable table that followed when my husband, mom and I arrived punctually for our 5:30 reservation and were primly informed we'd be squeezing onto a two top, then were refused an obviously empty three-top ("it's reserved"....oh you mean by a party of three with a reservation like us?), and then grudgingly seated at a four-top, half of which was literally in the kitchen. I should have known after being apprised that "you have one hour at the table." I should have known when there were no appetizers or desserts, and only two vegetarian entrees. This is the same thing as before. We're so back, baby. The mushroom curry, with its single fire emoj, was nowhere near the spiciest thing on the menu, but gosh was it still spicy. How do they make food with such complex flavors that's still hot enough to have emanated from the bowels of hell? It has to be one of the best curries I've had. It's a talent, special even, but it could easily coexist without Hungry Thirsty's other downsides. But I think all those inconveniences and discomforts are the point. They serve to reinforce the specialness of the special parts, counterintuitively increasing your mental investment in internally extolling Hungry Thirsty's virtues. They are to each element what spice is to food: it hurts, and you're proud that it hurts. It all adds up to the second coming of Ugly Baby, and why wouldn't it? Enough people liked being slapped around; maybe they felt like they deserved it. You know if that's you or not.

Food was very tasteful! The ambiance was clean and vibey, very comfortable. The service was quick…read moreand efficient, since we came in the door until we left. My first time here and it was a great experience. It is Valentine's Day and we left with a cute little gift from them, beautiful gesture. Definitely coming back :)

Had been passing this spot for years and finally had the chance to stop in…read more Host was polite and quickly sat us without a reservation - we wanted to sit outside and there was room thankfully. Wait staff was attentive to dietary needs, exemptions and ensured our request was followed to a T. Ordered some Khao Kriab Pak Mor (dumplings) to start along with a pair of mocktails. And an order of Khao Na Ped (smoked vegan duck) and Ginger Chicken (vegan). All served well with good portion. What I personally liked is the 2 dishes took a bit, not slow or long but IMHO taking a little bit always seems it was cared for in prep. Who knows just my thing. The staff has a challenge to accommodate outdoor seating as the bldg doesn't have an inside/back door for them and they must carry food out the front door, down the sidewalk and into the garden area. That's tough but they do it with grace. The seating was okay since it's early enough but bugs showed up - no surprise - not a complaint just the reality of life and online typing in case anyone is considering it and is more sensitive to the same.
