SomTum Thai (Papaya Salad)
Nickey L.

As far as taste, Stang probably offers the most authentic Thai dining in the area. Flavors of every dish were reminiscent of dishes from Thailand itself. We had the chicken fried rice for the kids. I went with the duck in 5 slices broth which was amazing! My wife (not Thai) said it was the best som tum she's had in a long time. We also had the pad Thai, veggie gyoza, and another som tum mango. All dishes were very seasoned and delightful. The place itself is a small sit down spot. The Thai iced coffee was also good. Service was friendly and attentive. I will definitely return.

I tried the food from this restaurant the other day and I must say I was impressed. I enjoyed my drink and food. I ordered a Thai Iced Tea and I had the shrimp summer rolls for my appetizer. I had the Thai Fried Rice with Chicken and it was flavorful. Everything tasted delicious. I ordered takeout and I would definitely order from here again. The restaurant was hot inside and it was quiet. The customers sat outside to enjoy their meals. The service was reasonable and efficient. I will be back to order a different dish next time. Hopefully they get some AC but other than that good food.

Pineapple fried rice with duck

What a hidden gem! I feel like this is one of those restaurants you just run into on the street and go in just because.. it's there! Then you find out that the food is amazing! My friend and I got some boba from this place twice without me having tried the food yet. Then, the last day of my vacation, I figured we get lunch there as one of my final meals since it's just a few blocks away. My friend ordered the basil fried rice and I ordered the pineapple fried rice with roasted duck. It was so tasty! The food came out freshly cooked and hot. It was absolutely delicious. I have no complaints about the food whatsoever. It was just amazing comfort food and a great meal coming to the end of my vacation.

I was just driving by and was hungry, and there was a parking spot. This pad see ew is freaking delicious. Way tastier than the three other choices closer to me.

The winds of fate blew me into Stang Thai this afternoon, where my girlfriend and I received a table in the middle of the dining area. The interior isn't terribly big but we mostly had the place to ourselves at that time of day. Seeking a simple repast, we chose to split an order of Sriracha wings (6 for $7) and a chicken spicy (drunken) noodles ($12), extra spicy, along with a Vietnamese coffee ($4). The coffee came out first, followed by the food all at once. Wings benefitted greatly from the sweet and spicy sauce, though the wings themselves seemed a bit cheap. The noodles dish, however, was quite good, nailing the flavors and textures I associate with this dish. I'm glad we ordered extra spicy, as the extra burn heightened the satisfaction of the meal. I was torn between giving this place three stars or four, but even the tasty noodle dish doesn't push this restaurant far above the middle. Fine for neighborhood takeout/delivery but I probably won't be back.

Love this little spot for Thai food, but what amazes me is that they also have Vietnamese food options as well. My boyfriend and I came around 8:30 with my dog just as they were about to close and we were luckily seated. They updated their hours to close at 9pm because of Covid. I ordered the sauteed mixed greens with flank steak and swapped out the rice with coconut sticky rice. My boyfriend ordered their Pho Beef and a Thai Iced Tea. We also ordered curry puffs to start. Everything tasted amazing! My dish was light, but flavorful and the sticky rice was infused with a strong, aromatic coconut taste. The steak was more like beef and slightly overcooked, but it didn't take away from the overall dish. I tried the broth of the pho and it was so delicious! The flavor was complex and made you want to drink it all. I would recommend you try this if you go! The curry puffs were huge and pretty good. We couldn't finish it and had to take it home; well worth the value! The thai ice tea was also very creamy! Great spot to grab a meal with friendly staff and delicious food! They also had hand sanitizers out for customer use! If you're in the area, definitely stop by!

Stopped by Stang Thai on our way home from prospect park and it's such a cute Thai+viet restaurant. Due to covid we ordered take out and each for a bahnmi sandwich. We got the grilled pork and satay chicken sandwich. The portion size is huge! You get two sandwiches per order. It was really tasty and super filling. Will definitely be back to try other items here!

Chive pancakes!

Stang Thai opened up in my neighborhood right around a year ago and I have been a regular ever since! The staff is super knowledgeable about the ingredients in the food. They always remember that I am vegan and help me with suggestions on the rare occasion when I stray from my usual sautéed mixed greens and tofu (ask for no fish sauce if you want it vegan!) I also love the vermicelli, and I just discovered the chive pancakes are vegan too. I've never had these before - crispy deep fried triangles of greens and a crispy batter. So good!! The decor is cozy and the staff is unbelievably friendly too- always waving and saying hi even when I'm just walking by. This is one of those things I always longed for before I moved to Brooklyn, this sense of community and small town feel in the middle of a massive metropolis like NYC. I love this addition to the neighborhood and look forward to being a customer for a long time to come!

A roach in passion fruit bubble tea

We absolutely love this place - their food is great but....I am so sad, we can never eat here again after finding a roach in my sons bubble tea. Yuck!

I love this place! They deliver their soup ingredients separately so you can assemble yourself and things don't get soggy. Their salads are excellent, and all the dishes we've ordered have always been so full of flavor. Highly recommend!!

Banh Mi

Our go to Bahn Mi place was closed during this covid situation so we decided to try this location close by, we ordered pork Banh Mi and vegetable ( tofu ) buns. Al the food was fresh and packaged wonderfully , zero complaints about presentation and freshness. The vegetable buns were ok but nothing kicked, even the spicy mayo lacked any notice of excitement on the tastebuds. That being said the curiosity of would these taste better had I ordered a meat option? The bun was perfect and the garnish of vegetables inside were decent, again the fried tofu lacked taste which is something one chances when ordering tofu,so for that I don't hold it against the establishment. The "spicy" mayo needs an uplift in its notes, preferably more spice and I am not even someone who goes looking for spicy food. The Banh Mi I thought looked fresh and exciting to taste as soon as we opened it from the package , after a couple bites I would say it definitely tasted fresh! from the bread to the meat it was satisfying as one would expect a decent Banh mi to be, again the spicy mayo inside needs attention and although I don't have the Banh mi from the place I normally go so it's hard to compare, I feel this sandwich was lacking some extra contents but I am not sure what was missing between the roll halves, sort of " I like it but I don't love it feeling" I ended up mixing some sriracha at home with mayo just to add more kick, which I feel helped the taste. Portion wise I felt it was enough to make me feel content, nothing more. I did enjoy the food but I don't feel the need to back any time soon. The Customer service was pleasant and the young lady who took the order was polite. So for customer service I have no complaints.

Thai Tea Bubble Tea

Great and thoughtful service! Outdoor dining was relaxed & the sunlight made people loiter. This review is for a brunch on Saturday outdoors. There were three takes each could fit 2 people & one table for 4. We ordered appetizers-- crispy chive pancakes, kimchi fries, and papaya salad. All arrived fresh, at the right temperature, and with excellent portions! Also had thai tea Boba which was superb with boba just at right texture and not mushy. The tea was full flavored and not watered down. Loved entrees which included pad sie ewe with a generous portion and spot on worth tangy savory sweet flavor. Next entree was pork belly banh mî which had a crunchy baguette pickled veggies and trinity of mayo/hoisin/sri racha. Overall support pleasant lunch with great modern and old school thai colorful pops and natural textures in all seating areas. Staff was very cordial and support efficient with great service. This place is a gem of gems and affordable with superb quality! 5/5 easy.

I used to be more then a regular; a booster (as in supporter, not petty thief) of not simply…read moreBrancaccio's... but of Joe himself. A truly genuine, authentic salt of the earth guy. And one of the greatest chefs I've ever had the pleasure to know. And I've known my share of cats who made their livings and their names in a kitchen. From the very first day I discovered Brancaccio's I felt a magic a connection that I knew would change my life, make my belly really f--kin' happy and set my soul a-dancin'. On that first day Joe and I talked about the great food of NY; most of it gone but not forgotten by those who were of the time. We both lamented the lose of the legendary Zito's bakery on Bleecker. I can't tell you how long it had been since I'd ran into someone who even remembered Zito's much less was intimate with the place. I knew I was home. This was well over a decade ago. I won't go into specific things on Joe's menu that are worth trying because quite literally... everything is amazing. It just is! Soul satisfying beyond my ability to do justice to. I'd also like to throw out as an example of the humanity of the joint and it's capt. Joe... Joe treats his employees with respect, R E S P E C T as Aretha belted, dignity and the aforementioned humanity which is beautiful and virtually non-existent these days as far as I can see... and you can taste it in his food. That's just a big-ass Right On! Finally I like to say two or three things: First that as I initially identified myself as "used to being a regular" as and this is by no means a boo-hoo thing simply a fact... I fell pretty ill for a while and am just now beginning my reentry into the world. And as a matter of fact during the recent drag of days for me a thought kept slamming into the walls of my head and that was that I couldn't wait to once again sink my teeth into Joe's food. Well that day is here and I'm salivating at the thought. "I'll take one of everything my man!" Secondly, understand I've never written anything like this... I'm actually down on the whole review culture. So if this sounds at all "over the top"... or written by a cousin who Joe owes money to, get that thought right out of your head. All of I said is sincere and one from the heart. And lastly an additional "oh yea baby" to Joe's taste in music.

The owner has the typical New Yorker vibe--blunt and a fun character overall. We went with the chicken cutlet with prosciutto, artichoke, fontina, and herb sauce, along with the sausage with cheese and added broccoli rabe. Between the two, I'd get the chicken for sure. It was pretty tasty, but I must say I wasn't as blown away as I'd expected. The sausage sandwich got a bit soggy from all of the marinara (which I wasn't expecting based on the description), so I was less excited about it. It was way too much food for two people. Like one sandwich is plenty for two, but I got greedy with wanting to try too much. We had a ton leftover! I would have probably rated it 3.5 stars, but the German roach running around pained me to see and stole my appetite. I'd want to say I'd come back and try one of those delicious sounding breakfast sandwiches, but roaches are a hard sell for me.
