I used to lived around the corner from this gem of a bodega for about 5 years and it was my go-to for "pickup some snacks on my way home from the subway". Then I moved about a mile away but still make a point to come here when I want a really good deli sandwich made by good people who know what they are doing. Their staff is friendly and prices are about the same as they are at every deli/bodega in the Kensington neighborhood (if you want lower prices you should probably shop at larger scale markets or food co-ops that can afford to keep prices low). read more

Best store nearby. They have everything from fancy ice cream to Beyond burgers to vegan creamer to Amy's soups. The best produce, too--their prepped salad in the clamshell lasts me days for $3, and their fruit cups (sliced berries + melon + mango) are really nice too. I love this place. For months, I'd walk past and scoff at the sign outside claiming that they have the best subs. Then I finally tried them and they are fucking excellent. The space is a bit small and cramped, but it's Brooklyn, space is a hot commodity. They do make the most of their space though. Their produce is always fresh and good. The prepared produce is excellent as well. There is a vast offering of yogurt, drinks, and quasi gourmet foods. It's a great spot to stop in for lunch. read more

The man who is always working there whom I believe is the manager is extremely rude, unhelpful and nasty. Every item is way overpriced. I occasionally come here when I'm desperate however, I recently tried to purchase an item that was advertised for $5. At the register it rang up as $6. I tell the man that they have a sign that states the item is $5, he tells me I'm wrong. He then comes from behind the counter to see the sign for himself and aggressively rips it off of the shelf. Stating "that's an old sign!" and refuses to honor the advertised price. I left without buying the item and with my pride intact. This will be the last time I ever go here. That was their mistake and he should have honored the price and taken a big slice of humble pie instead of acting like a tryant. read more

The best neighborhood bodega, but it's much more than a bodega! When I couldn't find dried mushrooms anywhere in the area, One Stop had them! Something for everyone. The produce section could use a boost, but in a pinch you can find enough for your evening meal and breakfast fruit. Open every day of the week, always well stocked. This has been my neighborhood bodega for many years. I have relied on them for pick-ups of milk, bread, miscellaneous items I need in a hurry, my morning coffee. In COVID time they have become my lifeline and they carry just about anything I could ever need. The produce section could use a boost, but it is well-stocked with basics. The staff is helpful and friendly. They have politely encouraged mask-wearing as the neighborly thing to do. And mask wearing compliance is fairly high. Great neighborhood grocery! read more

The workers are unfriendly at best. Deli guys are incredibly lazy and act like they are doing you a favor by making food you're paying for. If they stop stocking something and you ask about it they give you a bs reply with no interest in accommodating their customers. Everything is overpriced. I have yet to find worthwhile veggies or fruit to buy. They always seem to close before their stated time. Yet I tolerated this for years! However, I've finally had enough of the deli counter and the taller cashier guy's attitudes and am done. I'd literally rather walk down to Cortelyou Road and shop there. read more

This little grocery store has truly improved my quality of life. I'm one of those people who aspires to be willing to travel 30 minutes to the best, most progressive grocery store in the area, fill my cart with locally grown humanely raised organic goodness, take it all home, and fill my family with wholesome meals 7 days a week. I aspire to it, but if it really requires 30 minutes of travel, I've never been close to following through. Now that I live within 5 minutes walk of One Stop, my dream is much nearer reality. For a little corner store, they have an amazing selection. In particular, they have a meat case full of certified humanely raised products. Before moving here, I had the hardest time finding humanely raised beef anywhere in the city, including Manhattan. Now I can pick some up on the way from the subway. The produce selection isn't enormous, but it's good. The best I've ever seen in a grocery store so small. Prices aren't the lowest, but it's worth it to me for the convenience. Given my history, I know that if I hold out for a trip to a discount store, I'll end up eating Chipotle 7 meals a week. The owners are friendly and generous. They know my wife and I by name, and always have a kind word for us. They sent us home with a free box of Clementines after the birth of our first child. It's nice to feel like your neighborhood grocer is part of your community. Seriously people, One Stop is a reason to move to this neighborhood. read more

Probably the most inconvenient and useless "grocery store" I've encountered in new york city. Nothing is labeled with prices and they have a CC minimum. When I was trying to buy enough items to meet the minimum, I just gave up rather than trying to guess which things wouldn't be overpriced but would still meet the minimum. Although they say they're open until 9 (which is so early to close) when i went in at 820 the deli section was closed. The bodega to beat all bodegas. Weekly fairway trips supplementing frequent visits to One Stop Market effectively cut Foodtown right out of the loop. Good coffee, good breakfast sandwiches, good deli sandwiches, good beer selection, good 'unusual' selection (Skim Plus milk, lots of teas, quinoa pasta, home made date bars), friendly staff. This place has a good selection and it's the only place to shop in the neighborhood (which is a little odd but after many years I've gotten used to it). They have a good selection of things I want and are happy to order things if you ask. It can get crowded and they like to stock their shelves when it's crowded. Cute. Lately they've been attempting to enforce their $10 credit card minimum more often than not, which is against their contract with credit card companies (http://consumerist.com/2007/12/12/how-to-report-merchants-for-requiring-a-minimum-purchase-or-making-you-show-id/). I come in here daily, maybe twice a day, and you're going to argue with me over $1? Yea ... no. I get you're charged fees, I get that's rough on a local business, but you always have the option of not taking cards. You don't get it both ways as a business. This is a perfect little grocery/mini mart/deli in the neighborhood. For its size they have a little bit of everything that you would need (fruits, vegetables, milk, cereal, pet food, canned items, drinks, etc). Prices are reasonable for the convenience. Also in the front next to the register they have a grill for making sandwiches, breakfast eggs,bagel and coffee. The service here is good and fast. Credit card use is $10 minimum. read more

As a teacher working across the street from this market I have patronized them on many occasions. I will never spend my money with them again. Not only do they charge you different prices for the same sandwich on different occasions but I have experienced several instances of discrimination which I believe to be race-based. These acts of discrimination are many. Black children are unjustly followed and in one instance a student was accused of stealing and their bag was searched without cause while the white students were allowed to go without being confronted or searched. In another instance a Latino colleague of mine was in line directly ahead of me and was allowed to purchase less than $10 worth of items with his debit card; when I came up directly after him and attempted to use my debit card for less than $10 worth of items I was denied. Several times I, and other Black colleagues, have attempted to order coffee from the cashiers and were told to go to the deli counter, whereas our white colleagues and other non-Black patrons are served immediately from the cashiers. Although they are the only grocery within walking distance to the school I will not be returning and am currently organizing staff and students to respond to this racist mistreatment. I have attempted to get in contact with the owner several times to no avail. Do not support this establishment! read more

I don't know what I'd do without this place, living as I do in the land of crappy unstocked bodegas with their Kool-aid knockoffs and sad-looking limes. One Stop really is the definition of convenience store. In the mornings they've got my ice coffee ($2.25, large, milk and one sugar, get your cup with ice from the ice cream freezer and hand it to the guy behind the deli counter). On weekends when I don't feel like making eggs they've got my egg and cheese on a whole wheat roll. When I do feel like making eggs they've got free range organic eggs and butter and real maple syrup for my pancakes. That is not to say One Stop some fancy Park Slope-type corner deli. They have Spam and Kraft mac and cheese and red food coloring and rubber gloves and tallboys and big heads of cabbage should you be in the market for these things, as well as a decent selection of beer. If I was really lazy I could just do my entire grocery shopping here and be all right. The drawbacks: It can get crowded in the morning, especially on weekends, when everyone's lining up to get their coffees and egg-and-things sandwiches. And for some reason customers here have this habit of piling their groceries on the counter and disappearing, which can make things confusing until you figure out what's going on. And i wish it stayed open a little later, until 10 maybe at least on Fridays and Saturdays so I could run in and get last-minute stuff I sometimes need at 9:30 when everything else around here is closed. read more

I've patronized One Stop for over a dozen years and been very satisfied. However.... this past Sunday, the day after the storm, I got a grilled chicken, avacado and roasted peppers sandwich with Russian dressing. Approximately four hours later I was sick as a dog, an illness which continued all the way thru Monday. There was fever, sweats, and constant vomiting and diarrhea. I would never make hasty accusations but that was literally the first thing (and as it turned out, the last) I ate that day. Unfortunately, there's no other conclusion I can come to as to the source of my illness. Just a warning for everyone who patronizes their deli counter. read more

This place is so aptly named. It's incredible how they have every possible food item/sundry you may be looking for. They also seem pretty friendly. On the plus side for them, they are the ONLY grocery store within a quarter mile going north, east or west. Everything they sell is quality but unfortunately for us, the scarcity of competition allows them to charge Trader Joe/Whole Foods prices. Almost everything costs 25-30% more here. For example, a single roll of saltines is $2.19 here but at Walgreens 8 blocks away it's four rolls for $2.50! What?! read more

One stop is great for much needed sundries when you cannot get to a larger store or are too lazy to walk to the international store on church Ave.. Beer is overpriced but the staff is friendly and genuine. The most important thing you can do to make your morning breakfast order go smoother is have patience and write your order down in Spanish clearly. We have had our order incorrect 70% of the time...that is just not normal by any standards. On that note we usually just eat it and shrug. Check your order first before leaving the store. Though my tip above about writing down the order in Spanish is going to be my next step in solving this problem. They are super busy, but it is a problem that needs to be addressed by the owners. Perhaps making them write real tickets like a restaurant. All in all a great selection, good avocados, and even fresh almonds. If you like organic foods and have a gluten allergy this place is the ultimate in small bodegas. If they can get the breakfast order's correct i would give them 5 stars for bodegas. read more
