Good reason to come back. Started with prickly pear margarita with mescal. Yum! Had a white wine after. It was ok. My friend and I shared 4 bruschetta's- smoked salmon and pesto, artichoke, caprese, and apple, Brie and fig. Favs were smoked salmon and apple and Brie. The fries were amazing. Salmon board was good too. The bread on the board was much better than the bruschetta. Ambiance is great. Service as well. Will be back!

This place lives up to the hype in every sense of the word…read more Me and my wife came here and had no clue what most things were on the menu but our server did such an incredible job guiding us through the menu, helping narrow down our options, and giving us suggestions when we were between two items. I don't think it matters what you get here because everything we had was incredible. Some items on the menu might put you out of your comfort zone but I highly encourage you to do so because my favorite dish was the beef tartare. It's what I heard was "the item" to get here, and they were right. By far the best beef tartare I've ever had. On top of the quality of food, you can easily fill up on small plates for a pretty reasonable price! I was pleasantly shocked at how much food came with each plate. It took me years to finally make it to this restaurant, but now that I've been, I won't let nearly as much time pass before returning!

Crab cake, steak and biscuits were also great. Unfortunately our server was terrible. We had to ask for plates because when the runners brought food we had none, our server dropped silverware and spilled water on one of us, and the ice cream slid off the dessert when she carried it over (they did replace it). But food was overall good! 4.5 stars.

We walked into Poole's Diner for a drink and ended up staying for dinner--and I'm glad we did…read more I started with the chicken pâté, which was outstanding, while my friend chose the swordfish entrée. My Negroni was sublime, and I also enjoyed a couple of glasses of Gatto Arancione orange wine, which paired beautifully with the meal. To finish, I ordered the dark chocolate mousse torte--a rich and decadent ending. We sat at the iconic horseshoe counter, a piece of Raleigh history in its own right. The green Formica countertop dates back to 1945, when the space served as a midday lunch counter. You can see decades of history etched into its surface--the wear from generations of elbows leaning on the counter. It's the kind of patina that simply cannot be recreated. That's what makes Poole's so special: it preserves the character of an old Raleigh diner while elevating the food, cocktails, wine and service to a very sophisticated level. The service was outstanding--warm, knowledgeable and attentive without being intrusive. Poole's is Michelin Guide Recommended, and it's easy to understand why. Historic, sophisticated and completely unpretentious, it manages to preserve the soul of a classic Raleigh diner while delivering food and service at a very high level. What started as a drink turned into one of the most memorable meals of my Raleigh visit.

She knew the menu well and answered all questions we had. We started with the lobster doughnuts, which was an interesting name for them. I would describe them as lobster hushpuppies. The roasted chicken was chefs kiss. The knife glided through it like butter! It was very well prepared and tasty. The mashed potatoes had the consistency of grits, which was surprising but very tasty. The strip was tougher than I thought it would be but the waiter let me know it was because of how it's prepared. (Shaboozey was amazing by the way.)

New Orlean cuisine is what I was informed this place specialize and all I can say is I need to go to New Orleans now. Food: we love oysters so ordering oyster was a must. Fresh and sweet oysters. First time having it fried and I've been missing out We also ordered my favorite crab claws and it was delicious but what surprisingly had us fight for the last piece was the frog legs.. Our server seemed to forget it was Tuesday (it happens!) but we did feel insane since she kept telling us the happy hour pricing would end in 15 minutes. I felt rushed to try and place my orders/eat before they would shut it down, only for her to realize we didn't need to hurry after all. The atmosphere was beautiful and fun, and it gets busy fast so book a table ahead of time for sure. This is supposedly the "#1 oyster bar in America", but I have to say, not a huge fan of NC oysters. They're all very meaty and not at all like the Blue Points I've come to love. Crawfish hushpuppies are good IF you like strong crawfish flavor, not a fan personally but they were cooked well. The beignets were really the star, and the reason i'm giving 4 stars instead of just 3, they're a MUST ORDER. Cool experience to try one time, service was OK considering it was busy, but I probably won't be rushing back if we're in the area again.

This location is in the newer part of North Hills, right beside Restoration Hardware, and fits perfectly in the area. There's not much street parking available, but there's a large parking deck right beside Restoration Hardware and a very short walk once you exit the escalator. I highly suggest parking close to the escalator to be closer to the entrance. I suggest a reservation to avoid a wait, especially if you're going during the evening or at peak weekend times like brunch hours on Sunday. Luckily, there's a small waiting area and seats outside as well if you do have a wait. The bar is large, so that's an option for waiting if it's not packed. The restaurant is large with lots of seating options. There's also a large, nice covered patio as well. I'm pretty sure they have heaters outside as well for colder months. The service, food, and drinks have always been excellent, with one exception. I deducted half a star because I wasn't a fan of the steak when I came with a friend once. She ordered a NY strip, and it was a perfect cut and a perfect medium, but it was bland. There was no seasoning, which was a huge bummer. We had to ask for steak sauce because it was just so bland. My favorite drink to order is the Hugo Spritz. It's the first place I've had one, and I've been hooked on those ever since. Some of my favorite orders include: Spring Rolls, Hot Crab Dip, Shrimp Hemingway, Blackened Chicken Alfredo, Mediterranean Bowl, and the Tavern Benedict with grilled chicken.

The service was top notch as well. All of the wait staff were friendly, knowledgeable of the menu, and took care of our large group well. I started with the Old Fashioned Flight, with their Aged Old Fashioned, one with Old Forester 1920, and one with Buffalo Trace that they said was their restaurants pick. The first 2 were really good, but I think they gave me the wrong drink, because the one with BT didn't taste like it had any bourbon in it at all. But the waiter switched it out for me with a Tequila OF, which was really good. They brought out two salads for the table, and their Cesar Salad was really good, the dressing was so good. I ordered the Australian Lamb Chops, which were amazing. Simply seasoned, but done so well. I ordered a side of Chimichurri sauce, and it was not needed at all. My wife had the meatloaf, which was delicious, and the group all enjoyed their meals and drinks. We left full and happy. I definitely recommend you add this place to you list if you've never been.

It has always been a dream of mine to eat a beef welly, and Oak did an amazing job! It was delicious and cooked exactly to my temp preference. For appetizers, we got the rolls and the oysters rockefeller, and honestly, the oysters were 10000000% worth it. If I could come back on a oyster day (if they ever decide to do a special on these), I would come back and order at least 8! Note: the menu serves the oysters rockefeller PER OYSTER, so FYI. Worth the price though!! For our entrees, I got the beef wellington and hubby got the steak and frites. The only thing that disappointed us of our experience was the frites. We did not taste any hint of bone marrow, so we would not recommend this side compared to the others. Our server was super friendly and was able to give exact pricing on everything on the menu that is current market price. The entire staff even provided a complimentary dessert for my birthday. It was a cookie butter cheesecake/pudding and it was delicious! If I had to rate all my dishes, #1 would be the oysters rockefeller, #2 is the dessert, and #3 is the beef wellington. 7/10 - would HIGHLY recommend for date night or celebrating a special day, but do not get the bone marrow frites!!

My filet was around $60, and it didn't come with a side. As of this review they are the #2 most reviewed place in Raleigh only behind the Pit. When we went last week for a farewell dinner it took us 3 weeks to get in. We got turned away 2 other times. The place was always packed and busy yet cozy and calm with great service. Hopefully they relocate or put some of the items from the menu at Pooles. I understand as if you aren't seated when they open, you can expect a 90-minute to two-hour wait. I was hoping to get the Chicken Pot Pie this time and thought my prior visit was just off. I was thrilled that most of the menu was available. They were just out of the banana pudding. So I got to try the pecan wings I read about with the white sauce. It was so good. Then I got the chicken pot pie and biscuits. The pot pie had old biscuits for the topping, but the creamy mixture with large chunks of chicken was delicious. My biscuits came with honey and were served warm. I left with a slice of the chocolate-caramel-coconut cake, a side salad without onions, and a fried boneless thigh. The salad was made correctly, and the dressing was included. The salad was full of veggies, and the cake was rich and moist. Service was friendly and as soon as I finished my iced tea, another appeared. My wings were brought out first and it was a while for the rest of the meal as the restaurant was full. But they didn't rush me at all. I actually liked the space between the dishes, as I might not have been able to eat it all otherwise. I couldn't finish both biscuits and was even provided a container for the honey. I am going to miss Beasley's, but I'm glad I got a positive experience to remember the restaurant.

The less then stellar: the place smelled like it had been washed with a dirty mop. Having worked in food service before, I know this smell and it was incredibly off putting. My friend and I shared the nachos with short rib and I think they forgot to put on the short rib because it didn't seem to be there. The nachos themselves felt cold and congealed and seemed like they'd been sitting around for a long time (and they came out super quick). We also each got a side of watermelon, which was tasty but felt a little small for the price, and stingy with the fresh mint. The ambiance was beautiful but I probably wouldn't rush back to this location based on the smell and the food.

On the brunch menu, they have an item called Mimosa Party, which has 4 different flavors: range, dragonfruit, pear, mango. I've had other cocktails, and they are all delicious and made to order! Now for the food. The food that I've had has been flavorful and very good. Also, they have a lot of options that aren't very heavy if you're looking for some lighter options. When I went for brunch, I had the Hippie Hash Bowl, and it was delicious. I didn't want anything too heavy, but still breakfast-related, and it was perfect for that. For dinner the last time I went, I had the Creamy Chicken Penne Pasta with Cajun seasoning and blackened chicken.
