Great food, great service and reasonable pricing. My friend came over to hang out and we were hungry. Looked up some places we haven't been before in the area when we stumbled upon this place. Wanted to try it out and were not disappointed. Great vibe with a little soul and blues music playing. Friendly staff. Delicious food and koolaid. We had the three piece combo with Mac n cheese and an order of the 2 piece fish n chips. Check it out! read more

It's hard finding a good soul food place in Phoenix, I really thought this would be it but I won't be going back here. I feel like everything was cooked in a rush despite the wait time. There's no reason I should be calling my fries potato chips because that's how crunchy they were. The fried okra was soggy, the greens were decent, the catfish wasn't fried hard enough for me. My friends brisket wasn't completely cooked, the tibs were burnt, mac n cheese was bland. There were even sides missing which I don't understand because the order was read back to us, if they were out of something they should've said that and gave us the option to choose another side. I see the potential but yeah it's not for me. read more

Was in town for one day on Sunday March 1st, 2020 and really wanted some soul food. The hours of operation stated they closed at 8pm. I made it there at 6:51pm. I ordered my friend a brisket grilled cheese sandwich, greens, potato salad and I ordered myself chicken wing plate with cabbage and Mac n cheese. I read the reviews before I went so I knew service would be slow, yet i assumed the food would make up for the wait. The young guy who took my order came to me at 7:40pm stating that they were out of potato salad and cabbage... i didn't understand why it took so long for him to realize that but i was starving at this point so I just ordered another side of greens and cancelled the potato salad. At 8pm the young guy came back out and told me they were out of grill cheese. REALLY??? How? The grill or the cheese? I was pissed at this point so i wanted to speak to the cook about why they weren't communicating with each other or what items they didn't have before I placed my order. The young guy who took the order then tells me "we are about to closed so of course we won't have everything" I said really???? I came here over a hour before closing, It's not about what u don't have it's about u communicating that with the customer before you take their order and money!!! The cook then informed me he found the cheese and (in quote) "it was hiding from him" finally, I received my food at 8:30pm! They were cleaning up to shut down so i go to the car to get out they way... only to check my food and see they gave me a plain ass grilled cheese sandwich instead of the brisket grill cheese. I went back in and ask the young guy if he heard my order correctly and he said yes. I told him there was no brisket on that grilled cheese and that's when him and the cook started going back n forth, playing the blame game on each other. The cook went to the kitchen to remake it with the brisket and then 5 mins later told me they were all out of brisket and gave me my money back for the sandwich. So basically i waited over a hour in a half for a plain grilled cheese, bland greens and mediocre Mac n cheese. The fried chicken was decent. Terrible experience! I love my people but this was sad and depressing. Even with everything that went wrong they could've found ways to fix it or could've provided better customer service. I really hope they can get it together. read more

The food was fantastic. My first time and I ordered the Bam Bam (chicken, fish, and pork chops) with collards and potato salad. The entree (chicken, fish, and pork chops) was prepared fresh. It took a few moments but well worth it. The Kool-Aid was off the hook as well. If the dining area were improved this would be even higher on my Soul Food Restaurants. The services was superb and the price was reasonable. I will be back. If you like Soul Food try it and you will not be disappointed. read more

Finally, I've found the very BEST Soul Food in AZ. I've tried several and have been left disappointed. Today was the day, my tastebuds sang with delight. We tried several dishes, each one better than the last. The collard greens are beyond delicious, the potato salad, perfect. The pork chop and fried chicken, sublime but the catfish don't even get me started on the catfish! My friend and I agreed that we'd never had better. Run, don't walk to this incredible restaurant! You will not be sorry! This place is a gem, a real find. I'll be back, often!!! read more

I absolutely loved it! Reminded me of my grandmas soul food. You can tell they put a lot of love and care into what they make. I was glad they took phone orders so I could just run in and pick up. We got the catfish with macaroni and cheese, greens, fried okra and yams. Literally heaven! I don't even like cornbread usually and even that knocked my socks off. The catfish was crispy yet moist and flaky, the Mac and cheese was so cheesy and gooey, the greens were so flavorful and savory, the fried okra tastiest so fresh and had the crunchiest breading, and the yams were the perfect sweet item to finish it all. If my stomach were any bigger I would've been back immediately for seconds, but I will surely be back soon! If you're looking for small businesses to support, stop here first!! read more

Got the BBQ rib tip lunch special with collard greens (I liked the greens a lot). The sauces are good, rib tips were a little fatty (I like meat not fat) furniture could use an upgrade and fountain drink stand looked filthy. read more

Okay, let's start by saying I don't eat red meat but today I did and it was an experience like no other. The wait for the fall off the bone ribs was bearable. Love the music. Staff was helpful even added a 30% discount to my meal for being a loyal customer of all the locations since day 1 read more

I generally ignore reviews that focus on rudeness, but my experience at Stacy's was so galling that I'm writing one of those reviews now. I showed up at noon, an hour after their posted opening, place was locked. Called the number, and spoke to someone who rudely told me they'd be open in 15 minutes. I was confused, and the guy got ruder. If this is how the proprietor treats a new customer *while wasting that customer's time* by opening over an hour late, then the food is no longer interesting to me. Stacy's won't get a penny from me. Nasty people don't tend to make good food. read more

Awesome fried chicken. Great service. I had the red beans and rice and fried okra as sides. Both very tasty. Parking in back good and not much seating. I had an urge for fried chicken and that itch was scratched exceptionally well. read more

Had the fish & chips, Mac & cheese and cobbler. All of it was solid. Fish was lightly battered and just right, cobbler was sweet and had a great consistency, but the Mac & cheese was next-level. Mac & cheese was the star of the show. I don't know what they put in it but I need to have some more. Will be ordering from this place again. Highly recommend read more

I am new to the Phoenix area and I love all the different eating places that are here. So sometimes when I'm driving around I dont always want to eat at the restaurants, I like to try the mom and pop eateries. As I drove down Glendale ave I saw the Off The Hook sign and decided to check it out. I'm not big on Soul Food because usually its seasoned to much for me. It's a small spot with tables and a restroom. There's a tv in there on the table. I ordered the fried catfish, I want chops but decided with the fish and a side of cabbage and string beans and potatoes. It took about 20 min. for my food but it was hot. I had 3 pieces of fish and a container of cabbage and string beans. There were also two small with hot sauce and one with tartar sauce. When I got in the car I had to taste a piece of the fish.......wow. delicious not overly seasoned but you tasted the season. The veggies were good to, no complaints. Oh and there was a small cornbread muffin. I definitely will return in the New Year! They also cater and there is a food truck. read more

It was my first time visiting Phoenix and was looking for some good soul food when I found this place. I've eaten here three times and the food is always hot and delicious!!! I would definitely recommend it if you're looking for a good home-cooked style meal!! read more

BEST fried chicken I've found to date, here in Phoenix. I will definitely be back. Friendly and hospitable. I had this on a list of places to try and Sooooo Glad I Finally went. It's a hole in the wall, but don't let that deter you, it's comfortable and laid back. Very small venue but Excellent food. Stephanie and James, the proprietor(s) were so friendly and shared the peach cobbler that was still in the oven but we got a nibble, and it was as good as my grandmothers... thumbs up. This is True southern cooking (finally) and I could tell everything was fresh and tasted like made to order. The fried chicken pieces were generous and cooked to perfection, juicy, crunchy, awesome taste and not too dark. beautifully golden and hot till the last bite. And the mac and cheese was perfect, thick and hearty, not soupy. It was no fancy frills, just good honest straight forward food and people. I would have given 5 stars, but would like to make a couple minor suggestions... if they could put napkin dispensers on the table or just give you extra napkins with your dinner, as I like to eat fried chicken with my fingers. And a pat of butter and some honey would be nice for the cornbread, and though the collard greens were very good , they could maybe be cooked just 1 hour longer to make them even more tender. Overall wonderful experience. I will be back for ribs and gumbo ( and other menue items). This is my new favorite place! yum! read more

This food was so good. I'm from Georgia so I love good soul food. Don't go anywhere else thinking it's better, this is the spot!! You won't be disappointed!! read more

Well, I bought a lot of food there yesterday and was still evaluating, but have enjoyed enough last night and this morn to be able to provide the following synopsis: * Beef Brisket Sammich Generous; moisy; delicious: Off Da Hook! * Fried Chicken Nice breading; tasty; so hot it melted the styrofoam container and the bag it was in; cooking oil seemed a little old: Not the best, but pretty darn good. * Mac n' Cheese Hard to articulate specifically, but different, maybe due to seasoning; cheesy; not soggy: Off Da Hook! * Red Bean n' Rice Not a rice lover, but they made me a believer; this was seasoned well; delicious and moist red beans; one of the best I've had: Off Da Hook! * Cabbage Hard to articulate specifically, but again different, maybe due to seasoning; not over-pickled or over salted; absolutely delicious: Off Da Hook! * Collard Greens No hard stems or pieces; perfect small but savory chunks of pork; super delicious; best greens I have ever had: Off Da Hook! * Ribs St Louis-style slow cooked; perfectly seasoned dry rub; perfectly cooked and moist meat: Off Da Hook! * Rib Tips 1 LB. - feels like I paid mostly for cartilage and fat and flubby stuff; not much meat; flubb ruined taste: Would not order again. * Potato Salad Dunno... they were out! Staff was super cool and friendly! Next time we come it will be a fish dinner, which will prolly be catfish. They have Swai, but you can't eat that fish anymore these days as they are grown by bad fish farmers w/ cheap crappy food and water and environment. Will also try the Pulled Pork Sammich, Home-Made Hotlink Sammich, Stacy's Pampered Pig Sammich, Peach Cobbler, and of course, the rockin' Po-TAY-toh Salad! read more

Amazing service and food! Love how close the place is to my house! I'll always support this business.

Came here looking for new places to try in the area. & it was beyond delicious. The mac and cheese SLAPS. & the fried chicken is very well seasoned. We also got a brisket sandwich & that was great as well; along with the bbq sauce. I would 10/10 recommend to come and try. read more

They where out of chicken strips, had to pay extra for dipping sauce, didn't have other foods unexceptionable

I don't know where to start... when I walked in I asked for water so that I wouldn't pass out... the lady behind the window went to look to see if they had water which they did not have... I asked can I get a cup so I can get water before I ordered my food the woman stated I could not while in the process of trying to order my food I passed out on the floor due to dehydration... not only that when my friend paid for my drink I started drinking it. The African American in the back came to the front yelling at me because I pulled my mask down to tap a sip of the beverage that was purchased... he stated that he didn't need my services and to get out of his establishment... my friend decided to still order after receiving horrible service and when I say he was disgusted with his food he basically wasted his money... it looked like it was thrown together in a rush... when he opened his greens there were none... will I recommend to anyone I know... hmmmm Nope not only was the good mediocre the service was bad and the food and drink was not worth it... if I could give a 0 I would. My friend also stated he ordered ribs and chicken they didn't put the chicken in the order only ribs which he paid for 2 meats only got 1. Need coaching on customer service and taking and preparing the order of I paid for 2/3 meats I should get 2/3 meats not 1. read more

Ordered delivery from grub hub. Waited over an hour and when the driver got there they said the restaurant was "too busy to process the order" what a failure. Too busy for customers? Was excited to try a new spot but obviously this place is too busy for new customers. read more

I recently had my first experience at Stacy's off da hook bbq, and I will definitely be returning. It's a small place run by hard working people, with amazing food. You might wait a little for the food but that's because everything is made fresh, and the wait is well worth it!! The gumbo was amazing, fried chicken was juicy and golden brown and delicious. read more

Besides waiting an hour for our food, not being offered any drinks or menus, running out of the sides we ordered and placing whatever they had left in the kitchen in our orders instead of asking what we wanted, not using gloves while handling food and being extremely short staffed ... the food was actually really good. I enjoyed the catfish, the yams were amazing , the stuffing ( which was the side we didn't order) was actually pretty good and the Mac and cheese was bomb. The owner of this establishment needs to seriously get their stuff together. How unprofessional is it to have customers waiting an hour + to get food with literally one person working as the waitress and cashier. She was literally doing the best she could, I felt so bad for her. They get a three star rating because of the taste of the food and only because the taste of the food. The service was absolutely horrible. I would give this place another try . Yes the food was that good and when it comes to soul food I am very particular. So when a restaurant nails the Mac and cheese , you've got my vote!. The cleanliness was not up to par (tables/chairs I never used the bathroom) but this could have been due to the busy and high volume that we encountered there. Three staff members serving Over 40 people it was ridiculous. Better luck next time?... read more

Just moved here was looking for a good soul food place. This is definitely not it. Got the 3 meat combo. With Mac and rice gravy. And a peach cobbler. All for $29. Got home missing mac and cobbler. But for some reason had sweet potatoes. Called them and they claimed they remember packing the mac. Shrimp was very good. Got 2 ribs and a pile of sauce and fat for pulled pork. All the meat was cold. Went back to get the Mac and cobbler I was missing that I paid for. And they tried to act like they were giving me a cobbler for the inconvenience. Even though it was the $6 cobbler I was missing. Mac ended up being good. Cobbler is okay. Will not be going back and would not recommend this place. Even if all my food was there the first time. Price is outrageous for the quality read more

This is the best soul food and bbq in town! Very friendly staff and the food is AMAZING. They didn't have hot links so i was a little disappointed but the pulled pork, okra, fried chicken and red beans and rice were so good. A lot of cool art on the walls and super homey vibe. Love it. read more

The first Time I eat at Stacy's it was 17 years ago when he was located in downtown Phoenix off of Washington st. Few good things in life remain the same. Great job Stacy, your food is like fine wine... read more

This place is hit or miss. I've had amazing fried chicken here and then have gone back to dried out little pieces that seemed that they were freezer burned. Service is not good- the people are nice but they don't seem organized. There are times when I get the impression they don't actually want customers, like they are overwhelmed. I really want this place to become one of my go to spots but it's just so inconsistent. Like everyone said, it can take a really long time for take out. That doesn't matter if the food is great. But it's a gamble. Darn, wish it wasn't like that. read more

We ordered a number of items at Off Da Hook tonight and can't begin to tell you how much we enjoyed it. We purposely ordered the BBQ pulled pork, the fried chicken and catfish, along with the greens, mac n cheese, potato salad and okra. We thought this variety would give us the best chance to make a fair assessment. We have been searching for a place that could replace the AZ Fry Guy now that they have closed. We found it and it's much closer than Surprise! Everything was made to order and delicious. We will definitely be back! read more

What a bummer. I placed an order on Grubhub to go and pick up and prepaid ~$40. Ten minutes later, grubhub calls to say Stacy's has cancelled my order because they are "too busy". Wanted to try a small business and use this platform to promote their business. Unfortunately I can't say anything positive about the food. I came across Stacy's Off Da Hook BBQ and Soul Food and could not be more impressed. The food is amazing and the owners are awesome. This is a down to earth ( not fancy) place and is well worth a special trip. I went with a friend and we set out to order a bunch of different stuff so we could taste a lot of different items. Every thing was off Da' Hook. Great place for BBQ and Soul Food. read more

I had been waiting two weeks to try this place out and I was not disappointed. I called my order in advance since I live nowhere near the property. So when I came to pick it up it was ready. Took about 20 mins. I ordered the catfish dinner w/ Mac and cheese as a side. I didn't expect the Mac and Cheese to be so seasoned. In a good way! It was great! This fish was good too. No bones! Next time I'm going to try the red snapper (personal fave) and Peach Cobbler. I've seen articles that cobbler is what they are known for. And it's rare to find places that have fried Red Snapper. read more

This is soul food to feed your soul. The pulled pork is moist and flavorful (and my new favorite). The brisket is smoky and yummy. But it's the southern sides that make me swoon. The collard greens are maybe the best I've ever eaten (including my own cooking) and the Mac and cheese is a bowl full of cheesy yumminess. Tip: If you're eating in, just take a table; they do table service. If you're ordering take out, go to the order window just inside the door. Also keep in mind that it's not fast food. Everything is prepared for you when it's ordered, so even to-go orders will take about 10 minutes to get ready. Every minute is worth it. You can shorten your wait time by calling in your order. read more
