    The potato salad

I ordered delivery from them last night I wanted a few sides for a dinner I was having as I had to work late I ordered all side in 16oz but when delivery came it was just individual not enough for what I ordered so I called and they were so rude the cook told me basically they weren't going to fix the error and to top it all off the collard greens were burnt and they tried to add sugar to hide it there was way too much mustard in the potato salad and the candied yams were horrible this is the last time I will try and support this restaurant they don't care about the customer or the food they put out a d the cook there is very rude . That is clearly not 16oz in the pictures

This place can be missed with the blink of an eye. It sets next to a car repair place and a small apt complex. Just wanted to try something. I decided on a 1/2 pound of Rib tips! They are one of my favorites if done right! The tips were good. Only thing I can say is I did ask the young man at the counter if they came with sauce already on them he said No! It will be on the side. I actually didn't want any! Okay that will work. 15 minutes later i got my Rip tips and they were fully sauced! Eyeroll! Oh well they were still pretty darn good. I just wanted to try the seasonings they use to start off the meat! Next time I will make sure. No sauce

Was supposed to be a 3pc all white chicken dinner.

Or did three-piece fried chicken meal all white meat. When I checked my order, it was six or seven little chicken wings. I let the counter know I ordered fried chicken, not wings and paid for all white meat. Was told only Stacy can issue refunds and she's not there. Beware if they are wrong they will not make the order correct and you're out of luck on your money. Besides that the cornbread and wings were so flavorless as was the yams I threw it in the trash when I got home. The banana pudding feels like robbery... It was a container of banana pudding with a few wafers thrown in. I have been following Stacy's on Instagram for a year and their troubles at different locations and really wanted to give them a try and post a solid review but it's actually the worst takeout I've ever had. In the fact they didn't tell me they were subbing and aren't able to refund anything is beyond words. Diners beware

I visited this place a few days ago for lunch. I've passed by it a few times and seen that they had good reviews. I was in the area, and decided to give them a try. Everything on the menu sounded good. So, it was hard to pick what I wanted. But, I decided to go with the 3-wing meal with two sides. For my 2 sides I got fried okra and Mac n cheese. I was pleased to see fried okra on the menu, as you don't see that often on menus. The meal also came with a cornbread muffin. No drink though! You gotta order that separately. While waiting, I looked around and listened to the music. He was playing artists like The Isley Brothers, The Gap Band, and The Temptations. I really enjoyed the music. I reminded me of when I would dine-out with my grandparents. So, it was a very homey feel. The TV was also on, I think Law & Order was showing (something my grannie always watched lol). But, my meal didn't take too long to make. There were 3 people ahead of me; it took maybe about 15-mins to get my food. The man that was taking the orders also served me my order. I'm not sure if that man was the owner or not? He was the only person there... So, I'm assuming he was the owner lol But, my food was hot and ready! Everything was cooked to perfection. I'm picky when it comes to fried chicken, so I rarely order it at restaurants I haven't been to. I would instead get chicken tenders or something "safe" like that. But, I figured it was a black-owned restaurant, so, it should be good! Lol and I was right! The fried chicken was a 5/5! Nice & crispy and great flavor (I didn't have to put much hot sauce on it, as it tasted good as-is). And, the fried okra and Mac and cheese were great as well! I'm just really glad I liked the fried chicken lol because like I said, I'm picky when it comes to that. So, I would've been mad lol but I was a happy camper! The meal was a good portion of food. So, I had food to-go! I thanked the man and told him that I loved my meal! He was pleased! But, I'll definitely be visiting again!

Just tried this restaurant since my husband has been wanting to go to try the ox-tails. He was very happy. The greens were good. Loved the okra. Cornbread muffin is good. We'll have to give this one another visit and try some more things.

We made our reservation online and were seated right away, which made for a great start to our celebration. It took a little while for our waitress to come to our table, but the restaurant was very busy since it was the weekend. Once she arrived, she was friendly, attentive, and provided excellent service throughout our visit. One thing we really enjoyed was the live DJ, who kept the atmosphere fun with excellent music. We were seated toward the back of the restaurant, which worked out perfectly for our large party and gave us plenty of space to enjoy our meal together. For drinks, we ordered two Bloody Marys, two beers, a mimosa flight, waters, and lemonades. The only disappointment was the Bloody Marys. For the price, we expected them to be garnished with olives and the traditional toppings that usually come with a Bloody Mary. Our table ordered a variety of dishes, including the Cinnamon Roll Pancakes, Chicken & Waffles, Flapjack Tenders, the French Toast Sandwich (served with breakfast potatoes and syrup), Oxtails with Dirty Rice, and Catfish & Grits. Overall, the food was delicious. The Cinnamon Roll Pancakes were good, although we expected a little more cinnamon roll flavor and icing, similar to what we've experienced at other restaurants. The biggest disappointment was the oxtails. While they were flavorful and well-prepared, the portion size was smaller than expected, especially considering the $43 price tag. A helpful tip for anyone visiting with a large group: the restaurant will only split the check into two separate bills, so it's a good idea to bring cash or plan your payment arrangements in advance. Overall, we had a wonderful experience celebrating our sister's birthday. The lively atmosphere, great music, delicious food, and attentive service made for an enjoyable brunch. We look forward to returning in the future. We also learned that the owner has another restaurant called Soulful Tacos, which we're excited to try soon.

SENTRY - WATCHING RESTAURANTS…read more Mrs. Whites Golden Rule Cafe 808 E Jefferson Phoenix, 85034 The epitome of soul food in Arizona! Home cooking that is so good you want to cry! I've eaten at Mrs. Whites for many years, and every time I want to go back to real southern cooking this is where I come to. Companion and I dropped in for lunch, and there was so much food that we skipped dinner. I ordered the Southern Fried Chicken. 3 pan fried pieces that are juicy and golden brown. For sides I had mixed greens with hot sauce and mac and cheese. The collards were tender and delicious and the mac and cheese didn't even come close fo K..... Dinner. It was loaded with cheese and truly memorable. It also came with a large piece of homemade cornbread with lots of butter on top. Companion ordered the child's plate which is 2 pieces of chicken and and 2 sides. Ordered were cole slaw and mac and cheese. Because we are both diabetics, we both ordered unsweetened tea, but I really wanted a glass of the sweet tea which you get all through the south. We had planned on getting the wonderful peach cobbler for dessert, but we were so full that it would have been impossible to get down. Other items on the menu are smothered pork chops, fried catfish, and chicken fried steak as well as a host of other items. The restaurant recently underwent a complete renovation and it is really nice inside. Lest I forget to mention it, This is a small place that has been here for as long as I can remember. I came to Phoenix in 1965 and have eaten there since then. Highly recommended. 4 stars

Popped in before a Suns game, an easy walk past Chase Field. It was good to get away from the usual pregame options. The place was clean and inviting, and had a little bit of a "back in time" feel without being dated. Quickly and pleasantly welcomed and seated. Then came the hard part, making choices. We had fried chicken and fried catfish, with sides of Mac and Cheese, macaroni salad (yep, Mac two ways), greens and mashed potatoes with gravy. All were great, obviously home made from longstanding recipes. Especially into the greens, which were bursting with flavor. The catfish was delish, and my wife called the fried chicken the best she ever had. Saved room for peach cobbler, which was served smoking hot. The perfect sweet end to the savory meal. Next time I'm all in on pork chops, which looked amazing. And we will come on a Sunday, the only day dressing is available as a side option. If you're looking for a meal that feels like a friend had you over for supper, go here! Thanks Mrs. White's family!

Tucked back in a small building, just off Southern Avenue, you'll find Southern Fried. It is a small little walk in store front, so plan ahead to order out. We went ahead and ordered online to make things simple and easy. As shown on their building and advertised they show they serve Jamaican food so I was pretty let down when I looked at the menu to discover they do not have any Jamaican food. Seeing pictures of previous Yelp reviews of jerk chicken and oxtail left me bummed. We ended up ordering the fried okra, fried mushrooms, the 2 fish and 5 shrimp combo, along with the fried catfish and fries. We took our food to go and headed home, just around the corner. Once opening the containers i instantly got excited about the mushrooms. Anyone that knows me knows i am mushroom obsessed. With a quick dip in the ranch that came with and popping one into my mouth.... Yummmm! The okra was a bit of a miss. It seems they were still a bit slimy. Moving along to our main courses, I was disappointed to find that our fish was packed on top of our fries and the fries were very limp, soggy and unseasoned. I think packing the takeout differently could easily eliminate this issue. The catfish and shrimp were seasoned to perfection. They both had a perfect blend of spice and a light and crispy batter. I would love to see Jamaican food on the menu, as the advertising is a bit deceptive. Overall I would definitely be willing to try them again and would love to give one of their burgers a taste test.

The chips were soggy when I got my food. I liked the red onions, it added a little kick to the food on top of what the food offers to begin with. 6/10 Eggs over medium- not too runny how I like it. Velvety, the eggs weren't burnt crispy and was delightful. Meat was umami, savory and tender. Different than what I expected, had a little kick of spice. Beans were dry and bland.
