Food was good. Fried fish was definitely what we were looking for. I don't know anywhere else you can get rib tips in the area. They were ok - a little fatty- sauce was good. As for the sides though, pretty sure the green beans were canned. Maybe even Old Glory? The biggest challenge was the wait time. We waited 45 minutes for our meals. Then another 15 for the peach cobbler that was not quite ready... Interesting after the 45 wait for food. We were not disappointed with the food, but would not go out of our way to go back either. read more

This place was a dump!! Even without eating the food... to walk into someplace that looks like it use to be a "filling station " and the kid behind the desk has a do rag on sitting on a stool. Hygiene is a laugh since he asked me to wear a mask but the dining room doesn't look like it's been dusted or cleaned ever. I felt like I had walked into Fred Stanford's living room. Make sure u order your food in Person because u will never get all the items u ordered and they just keep apologizing. I ordered cabbage and got collard greens. Greeting Everyone! Just got back from This establishment. Had heard it's an off the wall place with good que. I ordered the oxtail dinner. Now this is something the ordinary person would not order. However since I have had oxtail in the deep south, and from Mexico and latin American country's. My friend ordered the rib dinner. I had fried okra, and red beans n rice. My friend had the green beans. There was no ice in the soda machine. Ok so it's a small business, The sodas were cold. Now my oxtail dinner didn't have a Good flavor. The seasonings were off. My Fried Okra tasted like it had sat for a while. My friend's ribs tasted like they had just been heated and slathered in BBQ sauce. Now maybe it's because it's Sunday after 4PM. I've tried ordering here twice in the past month as I was hoping to support local black business but the first time they cancelled my online order after 30 minutes of saying they were preparing it. The 2nd time I ordered Postmates and they said my order was ready but made me wait 20 minutes outside in the heat just to tell me they didn't make my food and are no longer taking orders (mind you it's 5pm) They refused to cancel my order that they claim they didn't have and I was still charged $42 days later. They also seem to play favorites so if you don't know somebody that works here good luck! We must do better smh read more

***Just as an update I was never actually refunded for the food I never received. And I ended up having to dispute the charge with my bank.**** First off, I would like to say that I really do not like to give bad reviews and usually like to give a business more than one chance before doing so. But this place is not worth revisiting. I cannot speak for the food, but the service here is enough to stay far, far away. I'm a pretty understanding person, so I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt when my order was taking a lot longer than I felt it should be. I had placed my order around 1:13 or so and sat down to wait. I see a few customers come and go, that I assume have ordered ahead of time. So do not think much of it at first. The cashier comes out to hand people the food and sees me multiple times, so I know she was aware I was there. Trying not to be a bother, I continue to wait patiently. Fast forward to a little after 2 pm and I've been hanging out for about an hour. At this point, I've seen a few people come in, order, receive their food and go and realize that I've been forgotten about. I also had somewhere to be, and wasn't expecting to sit at a restaurant for an extended period of time for a to go order, and couldn't wait any longer. So I go up to the cashier to see if the food is ready and if not, that I just want my money back so I can go. The cashier says nothing to me and just sends a man up to the cash register. No apologies are made in the slightest, and I'm told I need my receipt to be refunded. Which is fine, but the manner of which he handled it and acting frustrated with me as the customer when it was their mess up, was the last nail in the coffin for this place for me. He then stated that the food was already ready, but at this point, I no longer wanted it. Since, from the sounds of what he was saying, it had been left sitting around for some time by the cashier. And even if he had offered to remake it for me(which he didn't) I couldn't spend anymore time there waiting for it. I've worked in the food industry and still work in customer service currently. I can empathize with how frustrating it can be at times and that patrons can be difficult and entitled. I get it. But treating your customer like they are the jerk when you've forgotten about them for an hour and failing to at least apologize is bad business. At any rate, I was given a reprint of my receipt, so I'm not even sure I was actually given a refund in all honestly. I drove by this place a few times, so I finally thought to stop by tonight. Small quaint little place. Clean. Def had a good vibe inside. Busy inside. The guy who took my order was nice but distant took my order and that was about it. I got the fried chicken. I got the white meat option. I got green beans and potatoes side. It was pretty good. Candied yams was delicious tho. However... The fried chicken was some of the plainest I've ever had. It was hot but not delicious. I thought maybe it was just my first bite. But it was just not good. Maybe I'll come back to try this place again as they had a lot more options than just fried chicken. read more

I am so excited right now. I finally made it out to Stacy's Off The Hook BBQ. I walked in and got some very exceptional customer service and hospitality. The dinning room is closed but I got my meals to go, I got the gizzards, and a 3 piece chicken dinner with macaroni and potato salad YUMMY! Oh by the way I had to get my favorite flavor of koolaid they had that "Red"on deck. Now I wait,THIS IS NOT A FAST FOOD RESTAURANT, everything is made to order and FRESH! This food will literally take you to that special place, one bite is a memory, euphoric. Now I'm driving to Mars In a Saturn. The chicken was perfectly crisp and the flavor was hitting my taste buds from every degree working the angles. The sides were authentic I really enjoyed the Mac& cheese and the potato salad was so rich and tasty. Now to the really important stuff....... THE GIZZARDS. So I been waiting to find some authentic gizzards I'm town because I recently seen a YouTube /foodie that did a review on some soul food restaurant out in Atlanta and that's when I seen and heard about gizzards for the first time. I've been coming to "Off Da Hook" for more than a few years now. I was a fan when it was in the swap meet and I'm a fan now. The place is small and everything is made to order, so if you're an impatient douche, this is probably not the place for you. Good food takes time and soul food is the best food! The service is great. Everyone treats you like family, they offer suggestions, and I really enjoy my experience every time we get to eat here. There's so much great stuff on the menu. If you go on the weekends, go early and get the oxtails! My favorite is the BAM BAM! It's got a nice piece of fried chicken, a smothered or fried pork chop and a piece of fried fish. The batter on these pieces of deep-fried meat is amazing. It's crispy and flavorful and just the right amount of spice too. The real start of the show is the sides: collard greens, cabbage, green beans & potatoes, sweet yams, so much good stuff... but the mac n' cheese, man o man! Do yourself a favor. I really wanted to like this place, since it's so close to my house. I was hoping its fried chicken really was that good, and that it could be our new go-to spot for barbecue. Sadly, that was not the case. The very first thing I noticed was that they had Tahitian Treat as a fountain drink, which made me super excited. They don't, however, have anything sugar free, or diet, which sucks for anyone diabetic or on a restrictive diet. That was the first issue. When we got to the restaurant, we were the only folks there. A few minutes after we sat down, a couple other tables were seated. I ordered the 3 piece fried chicken dinner, and mac n cheese and candied yams, the kiddo got chicken fingers and fries, and my partner got a pound of brisket. All pretty easy. An hour later we finally got our food. During that hour, all the other tables were served, and some had even eaten and left. My chicken was dry, and the sides were obviously Stouffers mac n cheese, and canned yams. The kiddo kept saying how hungry she was, but when her food came, she barely touched it. The brisket was tough, and we're pretty sure it was nowhere near an actual pound. We were all thoroughly disappointed. Our server kept our drinks full, but that was about it. Never apologised for the long wait, never said anything about everyone else being served way before us. I was really hoping for good things from here. Was in town for one day on Sunday March 1st, 2020 and really wanted some soul food. The hours of operation stated they closed at 8pm. I made it there at 6:51pm. I ordered my friend a brisket grilled cheese sandwich, greens, potato salad and I ordered myself chicken wing plate with cabbage and Mac n cheese. I read the reviews before I went so I knew service would be slow, yet i assumed the food would make up for the wait. The young guy who took my order came to me at 7:40pm stating that they were out of potato salad and cabbage... i didn't understand why it took so long for him to realize that but i was starving at this point so I just ordered another side of greens and cancelled the potato salad. At 8pm the young guy came back out and told me they were out of grill cheese. REALLY??? How? The grill or the cheese? I was pissed at this point so i wanted to speak to the cook about why they weren't communicating with each other or what items they didn't have before I placed my order. The young guy who took the order then tells me "we are about to closed so of course we won't have everything" I said really???? I came here over a hour before closing, It's not about what u don't have it's about u communicating that with the customer before you take their order and money!!! The cook then informed me he found the cheese and (in quote) "it was hiding from him" finally, I received my food at 8:30pm! They were cleaning up to shut down so i go to the car to get out they way... only to check my food and see they gave me a plain ass grilled cheese sandwich instead of the brisket grill cheese. I went back in and ask the young guy if he heard my order correctly and he said yes. I told him there was no brisket on that grilled cheese and that's when him and the cook started going back n forth, playing the blame game on each other. The cook went to the kitchen to remake it with the brisket and then 5 mins later told me they were all out of brisket and gave me my money back for the sandwich. So basically i waited over a hour in a half for a plain grilled cheese, bland greens and mediocre Mac n cheese. The fried chicken was decent. Terrible experience! I love my people but this was sad and depressing. Even with everything that went wrong they could've found ways to fix it or could've provided better customer service. There's no reason I should be calling my fries potato chips because that's how crunchy they were. The fried okra was soggy, the greens were decent, the catfish wasn't fried hard enough for me. My friends brisket wasn't completely cooked, the tibs were burnt, mac n cheese was bland. There were even sides missing which I don't understand because the order was read back to us, if they were out of something they should've said that and gave us the option to choose another side.
