Edit: They reached out to me and made the mistake right, therefore I am changing the review from a 3 to a 5. Thanks so much! Placed a $75 order to pick up. They seemed pretty busy but not too crazy. Food is good however they forgot our $18 sushi which was the main part of our meal. Really hope they double check the orders next time, because the food is worth it. Kinda upset but I guess we should have double checked the bag before we left.

I can't believe I haven't been here before! Now I understand the rave reviews. We had the kindest server, Sam. She was hustling, but patiently took the time to answer our questions. We started with lobster popper futomaki sushi roll. I was worried it might be too spicy with the jalapeno, but it was perfect. For entrees we had the singe lobster tail (served with wild rice and roasted brussel sprouts), and the lobster carbonara. We enjoyed our selections. We made reservations for a Tuesday night. So glad we did, because the place filled up! Looking forward to returning.

Excellent service. For a wine dinner, the wine glasses were sub-par. They had a significant lip and the same type of glass was used for each wine. The shooter was interesting. The chocolate pot was delicious. The bisque was good but would have been better if served hot. The steak was just so so and the potatoes were too salty. The Sole was excellent. I'm not a fan of fois gras but my dining companions were happy to gobble up theirs and mine so I am guessing it was good. The wines were just ok.

5 stars, hands down! Great food, ambiance and service! Hubby and I visited Valentine's Day weekend, making a reservation, well in advance. We were greeted and seated right away. We proceeded to order beverages and starters. We opted for the seafood potato skins and bistro salad. The potato skins arrived, 1 large potato, cooked perfectly, split and topped with shrimp, scallops and crab, in a delicious mornay sauce. The salad was huge, fresh greens, chopped tomatoes, cucumbers, and pumpkin seeds, dressed in a delicious balsamic dressing, accompanied by warm sliced bread with a roasted red pepper infused butter. For our entrees, we ordered the strip steak, with garlic mashed potatoes and the crab crusted grouper with ancient grains and green beans. The entreescartived a short time later, generous portions, perfectly cooked. I ordered the strawberry shortcake cheesecake for dessert, which was the perfect ending to a fantastic dinner. In addition to a great dinner, our server Sam made the experience that much better! We'll be back.

1/2 eaten bowl of spicy edamame. Delicious however 1/2 because my mouth is on fire.

Ok so I have to say my all time favorite sushi place or 1/2 price sushi. I think I will be a fixture at the bar for happy hour and 1/2 price sushi on Thursday's. DELICIOUS Awesome service and food and drink's awesome. I'll try many other things but I'm hooked because everything I've had is great.

Very nice place for dinner or even cocktails and appetizers. Three levels of an old building give this restaurant much character. Excellent beer list, great wine selection, and all your other fine bottles. We settled for appetizers again. The crab dip has amazing flavor and very fresh. Sushi seems to be very popular here. Decent price. Great service.

My friends, my husband and I were here last night and it was a really really great place. Absolutely loved our drinks which was the main reason why we were there. They have seating upstairs, first floor and downstairs in the basement. It looked so beautiful and I am glad we came across the spot randomly when we were stopping next door at another location. Our waiter was really nice as well and entertaining. Overall great spot!

The food, for me, was nothing to write home about. The beet salad wasn't my fav but it was ok. The chicken I would not recommend because it had literally no flavor and the whole thing was covered in arugula why My boyfriend loved the burger though! And I thought the wine was good This place wins in terms of ambiance, it's really gorgeous and feels exclusive. I just wish the food matched that vibe. We placed our drink order and waited...out came 2 glasses of wine, then the third and then the beer that was ordered. Also asked for lemon wedges for the water which came after the beer. Placed appetizers order of crab cakes and smash burger. Waited a bit and then placed order for two salads as part of our dinners. Salads came out before the appetizers. I must say the crab cakes were delicious (maybe not $26 delicious), the smash burger was ok, very greasy and fries were not very hot. My biggest disappointment was my entree, Parmesan Crusted Seabass which is one of my all time favorites that I order when I see it on the menu. The plate looked delicious but looks can be deceiving. The Seabass was more breaded than Parmesan crusted. Usually When I order this it is Seabass topped with shredded Parmesan cheese and baked, this was not that! Then the sauce that covered the spinach and potatoes and lobster pieces had red chili flakes added(which is not noted on the menu) which added "heat" to the dish that I was not expecting nor was I able to eat. For $55 I was very disappointed. No, I didn't mention this at the time as we were dining with family and I didn't want to disrupt the dinner by sending it back. Such a simple thing to note on the menu description! The short rib was the best entree of the table, nice portion and delicious sauce. The filet was tiny, maybe 4 oz. Definitely not anywhere near 8 in as stated on the menu and it was hard to find with all of the broccoli on the plate. We will be visiting family here again but definitely won't be back here. On another note, the music they were playing would be more suitable to a dance club than a venue such as this.

Live music on a sat evening with a beautiful view of the manicured property, we had a big table that they held for us ahead of time as we called an hour before getting there. They don't take reservations but if you give them a heads up, it'll be smoother for both parties. The place was so lively and everyone who served us were friendly and so accommodating! Our kids went outside and played catch while us adults relaxed and enjoyed the wines, you can see them from the massive windows. The food was wonderful, the goat cheese fondue isn't too rich like a traditional cheese, try it! The hanger steak was so tender and juicy, scallops were not overcooked. Honestly if you are in the area, take a peek at this place and try the local wines. The bottle prices are so fair! Not pretentious and the parking was plenty. Enjoy my friends and drink responsibility because it's absolutely easy to want to try ALL the wines here. (^‿^)

The outdoor area is incredibly spacious, offering everything from a covered patio to seating right down by the vineyard with umbrella coverage. Whether you need an intimate two-seater, a large table for a group, or a standing-style arrangement around covered barrels, they have a space for it. They were even setting up for live music the night I visited, which added to the great atmosphere. What really struck me was how well-run this establishment is. Large venues can often be a logistical nightmare, but Laurentia operates masterfully. They use a controlled seating and walk-up ordering system for everything--wine, coffee, and food--which keeps things moving efficiently without feeling chaotic. The friendly staff then bring the food right to your table. Speaking of the staff, their work ethic and rapport are truly exceptional. You can tell they are proud of the operation and genuinely enjoy working with one another. As for the menu, the Syrah was exactly what I was hoping for and thoroughly enjoyable. The Chicken Gnocchi was excellent--cooked to a perfect al dente and packed with delicious pieces of chicken, bacon, and asparagus. It was perfectly balanced and beautifully presented; I intended to snap a photo but just couldn't wait to dig in! I finished the evening with coffee and the Key Lime Cheesecake. Restaurant coffee is often an afterthought, but this cup was wonderfully smooth and delicious. It was the perfect pairing for the cheesecake, which was incredibly fresh, perfectly set, and topped with beautifully ripe strawberries and a strawberry sauce underneath. (A quick, honest note for picky eaters: it didn't come with the mango puree that was advertised, but it was so delicious I didn't mind at all).

An absolutely fantastic visit today…read more Our daughter is moving out of town, and for her "going-away" dinner she wanted one more visit to Cru. What a wonderful choice it turned out to be. From beginning to end, this was truly a remarkable dining experience. Every time we visit, it seems like both the food and the service continue to get even better. We had reserved a table on the outdoor patio and were seated promptly. We absolutely love the patio--its ambiance is second to none and, in our opinion, it's one of the best outdoor dining spaces in the city. This time, we decided to keep things light and ordered a selection of appetizers, a cheese board, and desserts. Since the menu changes four times a year, there's little point in listing every dish, as they'll likely be different by the time someone reads this review. A huge compliment goes to the entire kitchen staff. Every appetizer was beautifully prepared, and they even made a special zucchini blossom for our daughter, which was a wonderful surprise. A special thank you also goes to the pastry chef. The three desserts were outstanding, and the personal touch of writing "Good Luck in Chicago" in chocolate on one of the dessert plates made the evening even more memorable. We also want to recognize both sommeliers. During a previous visit, one of them had prepared an incredible house-made bar nut mix that we still talk about. We asked whether it was still available, and although he explained it was no longer on the menu, he went out of his way to prepare it for us on the spot. Our daughter absolutely loved it. Our second sommelier (whose name I unfortunately forgot) was equally wonderful. She took the time to recommend several excellent Pinot Grigios after my daughter asked for suggestions, and her knowledge and enthusiasm were greatly appreciated. Finally, a heartfelt thank you to our server, Julie, who provided warm, attentive, and professional service throughout the evening. She helped make an already special occasion even more enjoyable. As we were leaving, my daughter summed it up perfectly: "This was probably my favorite visit out of all the times we've been here." For a restaurant we've enjoyed many times over the years, that's about the highest compliment we could give. Thank you to everyone at Cru for making our daughter's farewell dinner so memorable. We wish you continued success and can't wait for our next visit.
