This was my first time trying Element 41 on the Square in Chardon, OH. I wandered in looking for a burger, which they did quite well. I enjoyed the food well enough to bring my grandson back with me a day or two later. The restaurant has dark walls and ceiling which, although dark, wasn't too dark. I was able to read the menu and the overall atmosphere was cozy. I'm sure I'll be back next time I'm up there to visit family. read more

We've been to Element 41 about a dozen times over the past year. We typically go for Sunday brunch and enjoy their hamburger specials, truffle fries, etc. While at our last visit, the server had asked me what sauce I'd like with my sweet potatoes fries. I told her to surprise me with one. She brought two. I also noticed I had two separate charges for both sauces on the bill. I decided to ignore and keep in the back of my mind. During the Maple Festival, my son stopped in with one of his coworkers bc her mom had ordered a salad and the salad dressing hadn't been included. The server refused to provide them with a little container of salad dressing, claiming they had no proof. In the end, his coworker ended up making nearly $2 for a small amount of salad dressing. Still, I decided to ignore. Today was the last straw, we had brunch. Six of us were there, we had a mixture of hamburgers, truffle fries, breakfast and drinks. Two of us ordered 3 beers, 4 of us Ordered soft drinks. When I saw the $200 bill, I noticed the server had charged us for 8 soft drinks. When I spoke to her, I asked her if they no longer offered free refills on soft drinks. She said, there isn't really a rule. I told her they really need to post "No Free Refills" bc charging more than $7 per person to have 2 glasses of pop was absurd. To her credit, she did offer to take 1-2 charges off, but come on. Either offer free refills or don't. We were there eating a ton, gladly paying upgrades for truffle fries and such. To slap us with a ridiculous charge for 2-3 ice filled classes of coke was ridiculous. Such a shame bc we did enjoy heading there 1-2 x month on Sundays. We will not support other local business who are not so stingy with well paying patrons - I could maybe understand if 1) it was posted in menu, 2) it was a consistent rule and/or 3) we had only ordered a small amount of food. Absolutely horrible experience! We went on a Thursday to celebrate closing on my mother-in-law's house, who had passed away, with my husband, his sister and her husband. We sat at the bar. Everyone received their food in a timely manner except me. After about 10 minutes, I finally received mine. Our order was put in with another table and mine got mixed in with the other table. The food was delicious, although, my flank steak was not cut against the grain with made it very chewy. The topper of the night was the OWNER came out and changed the tv channel on the tv behind the bar. My sister-in-law jokingly said, "Maybe we were watching that." The guy was a complete jerk and said, "What's wrong, you couldn't get into Square Bistro so you came here?" Well, I can tell you we won't EVER be back what an a**hole! On a side note, the bartender/server, Paula, was excellent! She comped my dinner and bought us each a drink for our awful experience. read more

Went there on 4/24/ 26 during the Maple Festival. Ordered a Patty Melt and my Wife ordered a chicken sandwitch. When we recieved our meals the fries were burn't. I told the waitress the fries are burn't. She told me thats the way they serve them. I would'nt serve these to anyone. The worst fries I ever ate. The waitress cared less. Just enjoyed the best, flavorful breakfast sandwich at Element 41 this morning. It was also served with delicious homemade, thick potato chip. Weather was so nice this morning that we chose to sit outside, next to the opened garage-like door. We were able to enjoy our abundance of great food, also the Fall view of the Square, and still be connected to the restaurant. Wonderful breakfast experience and very responsive service. read more

Got the chance to revisit Element 41. We were originally going to go to Square Bistro for a weekday lunch but found out they're not open. So we walked down the sidewalk and went to Element 41. We've been here before, but for some reason we noticed more in today's visit than before. Upon walking in, you'll notice how dark it is. Then the host counter, just by the steps and it looks like it's being fixed. Somehow I believe it's been like that for sometime. Sitting down, immediately noticed that the chairs are a little sticky to the floors. Maybe it has something to do with the painted floors? The walls by us could get a fresh coat of paint, or maybe a Magic Eraser....something, it just needs a bit of touching-up. The decor, bar and music are all confusing. And finally, they have one big window but chose to plaster a big banner on it, so that doesn't help with the natural lighting. The food was good. Really enjoyed the soup and the burgers are very generous with beef and cooked to perfection. Loved the fries, reminds me of fair-fries. The pickle on top of the burgers are a nice added touch, just remember the juice that comes from it when you bite it. Overall, nice offering, but not a place we're dying to return-to. I will start by saying the menu is horrible, very short and never changes. The food is decent at best. Service is horribly slow even if you the only patron in the restaurant. My biggest complaint is the customer service and hospitality. Most but not all are rude, unfriendly, and act like they are doing you a favor. The younger workers who are seasonal are much better because the are trying to provide a good dining experience. Bottom line - the food is ok but overpriced, menu sucks, service is the worst and I will never spend a penny in Element 41 again. There are many better restaurants within a two mile radius. We moved to the area about a year ago and this place has become one of our go to staples for excellent food. On first glance it looks to be like any other bar, but then you look at the menu. Burnt ends with sweet potato gnocchi as an appetizer. You bet your keister this is on the table every single time I go there, or order take out. It doesn't last long enough to get a picture so you'll have to see it for yourself. I have tried most things on the menu and their specials...nothing will disappoint. The Element 41 burger is an experience all its own. They are locally famous for something they call "Heavenly Pudding" which is a bread pudding. I am not a fan of bread puddings, and compared to their main course and appetizer menus, I overall find their dessert offering, well...lacking. But that is more of a testament to how good the food is. The fact that they are openly LGBTQ allies through their window displays and flying a Pride flag, makes it even better in my point of view. Small town business right on the town square in rural Northeast Ohio standing up for what is right. This alone elevated them with my family. read more

Fairly low key comfortable dining room with a quaint little bar area for those that don't want a table. Service was friendly and attentive. We really enjoyed the limited menu that had adequate variety. I had the walleye and my wife had a dinner salad with blackened chicken. The walleye presentation was impressive, and the flavors didn't disappoint. My wife raved about her salad-the freshness of the greens, the berries, and the flavors. We ordered a bottle of Prosecco and heard the cork explode behind the bar. We laughed as did the server-I don't think she'll make that mistake again! So I'm actually giving it 3.5.stars and rounding up since they don't have half stars here on Yelp. Even though my seat was extremely uncomfortable, and the chairs were sticky the saving grace was that the food was delicious and well prepared. We all enjoyed our meals and that was a huge plus and the bathroom was clean as well which is another plus.. Our waitress, although a nice lady, did not do a great job at making sure we weren't sitting around with empty drinks for a while and we were constantly looking to see where she was and we couldn't find her. One of our favorite things to do, is find great breakfast spots with our "BFF" Carol and Steve. Last Sunday was another 'find'! Taking advantage of a delightful fall weather day, we met up in downtown Chardon for our breakfast. Even though from the outside one wonders what is inside, inside is delightful. Cozy and quaint, it includes a small full service bar, and table to accommodate their guests. Has a great everyday menu, but we were here for breakfast. And then we ordered. Many mouth-wateting choices were offered, we all choose the 3-egg omlets. They offer a vegan omlet, as well as create your own. The ladies went with build your own, veggies unlimited! The guys went the same with meats included. The omlets were served hot, and overflowing with the ingredients picked. The egg portion of the omlets were fluffy and seasoned to perfection. Everyone raved about the dish. Also each was served with the houses's version of home fries. Actually they were fresh, thin sliced potatoes, deep fried like home made potato chips!! And the HUGE order served, was readily devoured by all of us. Finally, there was a choice of bread served as well. Unlimited hot coffee was there when needed. Heads up to the only draw back. There is only one restroom used by all. May not be an issue some, but just a heads up. Overall, Element 41 is a gem on the square! Went for Sunday brunch. I love a good Eggs Benedict. This place has a pretty good one. They did it right, the egg was gooey, and the Hollandaise sauce tasted fresh. What else do you need from a Benedict. The potato's were sliced like a scalloped potato, but pan fried. I enjoyed them. It was like they finished them with a hint of apple cider vinegar. My wife got the fresh homemade biscuits with gravy. I loved that. The gravy was a little thick, but had a really good sage flavor. Really delicious. Overall the place was good. Element 41 came highly recommended, but unfortunately, it under delivered. Nothing was bad about the trip all the way out to Chardon, it was just average. Cool little spot on Chardon Square, with free parking - not something this city boy is used to. Our server was also the bartender so he was a little distracted, and unfortunately the bar wasn't that busy. The baked wings could have used some more sauce (a lot more, the parmesan garlic was good!), the calamari sat a little while before coming to us, and the duck didn't have much flavor. I was apprehensive about getting the duck, because of my love of the Mighty Ducks... wish I would have gotten the burger. I over thought it - KISS, keep it simple. I have been here for lunch so I suggested that my family go for dinner. Our dinner was very disappointing. The server was very friendly and did her best, but the kitchen was a disaster. We waited over an hour to receive our entrees. The salmon was over cooked and sat on the most gigantic plate of rice. Yet the vegetable sides did not seem to be cooked at all. My wife & I dined here for the first time on Sat., 01.25.2020. We chose Element 41 because another nearby restaurant where we have dined before had no walk-in seating available except at the bar. I was a bit apprehensive as the restaurant was only about one-half occupied at about 6:20 p.m. on a Saturday evening. To our advantage, we were quickly greeted & seated by the hostess. Our server, Bonnie V., greeted us soon after. The decor is chic farmhouse with most seating being tables that could be arranged to accommodate parties of 8 or more. The dining room is not large but it was clean if not unique. The beverage & dinner menus are not extensive but have a reasonable variety of choices. For appetizers, we both chose a cup of soup. My wife had butternut squash while I had loaded potato soup. We both agreed our respective choices were excellent! My loaded potato soup may have been the best I've ever had! Both of us also chose the beef brisket with mashed potatoes & seasonal vegetables. What is, in my opinion, a fairly significant faux pax was listing the beef brisket w/gravy as gluten free. Since my wife has Celiacs Disease, she questioned this as gravy is often thickened with a wheat-based agent. Our server inquired with the chef & confirmed the gravy was not GF so it was left off of her brisket. Though it probably still contained gluten, my brisket was drizzled with what I would describe as more of a smokey sauce than a traditional beef gravy. In either case, we both agreed the brisket was very good. The mashed potatoes were chunky homemade, tasted very good, but were nearly room temperature which was disappointing. The vegetables were the same. Bonnie V., our server, was excellent. She was friendly, prompt, attentive, & patient with our GF questions. Other reviews mentioning poor service probably did not have Bonnie. Overall, my wife & I agreed it was a good experience. Element 41 has the potential to be a gem but is not there yet.
