Everything on the menu is good. We love that we can both find something we like in the menu, from burgers to pasta to pizza to entrees and salads. Haven't had a bad meal yet. Especially love the veal Parmesan and the tuna melt and grilled chicken. I even asked for pasta Alfredo one night. It wasn't on their menu but the cook made it anyways and it was incredible. They go out of their way to serve you a good meal and all the waitresses are nice. Plus, the food is reasonably priced, unlike several other similar style venues in the area. We tried a new dish on the menu today - Louisiana catfish bites with Cajun fries and coleslaw. It was delicious! The catfish had a nice light flaky texture and the cajun fries had a good spicy flavor and everything was perfectly cooked. Although the dining room was crowded, Brittany served our meals promptly with a nice pleasant smile. The decor reminded me of a 60's classic diner with black and white checkered tile floors, red, white and green walls, and stained glass light fixtures over the booths. read more

I have been going to Spats for a long time and the meal we ordered for take out today was just terrible. We ordered 2 bowls of clam chowder. Normally the chowder is excellent, but this time it tasted like a very grainy potato soup with rather tough or chewy pieces of clam. I tasted a couple of mouthfuls and decided to pitch the rest. My wife struggled through her portion, but she said it is different than what she is used to. I don't know if there is a new cook/chef, or if they are trying to keep prices reasonable by adding more potatoes, but it is not working whatever the reason, all I know is that I will never order the clam chowder again. I hope that the rest of menu has not changed, because all their food was really good and always consistent. read more

For what Spats is attempting to be, they're doing an awesome job! This is definitely a divey place. It's a neighborhood sports bar and nothing fancy. The staff is warm and friendly to all and the food and drinks are priced right. The place could probably use a good scrubbing, but I didn't feel like I was going to get sick or anything. It's just old inside. They offer outdoor seating and a dining room side. The menu seems to have several scratch made items. The theme is mostly bar food with an Italian focus added. We had burgers and fresh cut fries along with two pint beers and two rocks pours of crown whisky. Bill was $31 before tip. Great value. The food was pretty good for the price. My only complaint was the crumbling sesame seed bun that came on the Spats Big Boy style burger. They grilled it, but it was obviously old because it crumbled when I picked it up. Next time I'll order a different bun. The kaiser bun that came with the bacon-cheddar-mushroom burger was also grilled but soft and fresh. The burgers themselves were juicy and flavorful and came with perfect fries, fresh not frozen. Loved the pickles too. The liquor selection was vast. Only a few beers were on tap though. The patrons we encountered on our first visit here were regulars and friendly. The staff were conversational and welcoming. The back wall of the bar was lined with televisions. It certainly isn't a 5 star, gourmet restaurant but the menu has a wide variety and I haven't had a bad meal there. They have daily specials as well and the prices are reasonable. Their pizza is cooked in a "Quiznos Oven" (waitress' words, not mine), so I wouldn't order the pizza. We sat down without being sure if it was a seat-yourself kind of place -- others seemed to be just as confused. Menu was typical bar food, draft list did not contain any craft beers except Dortmunder. I got the bacon cheddar burger, and it was more onion than bacon or cheddar! Very greasy, too. This review is about a pre-COVID experience. I just saw that Spat's made Cleveland Magazines "Our City's 50 Best Bars." I laughed out loud. There are 50 better bars in Lakewood alone. Spatt's is old and smelly but the food is cheap and the pours are heavy. My wife and friends would occasionally stop in for a nightcap until we were kicked out by the owners for.....cursing. So, if your goal is to fill your stomach and catch a buzz and you don't mind smelling when you leave - you'll love this place. Mind your tongue. read more

Watched Guardians game at Spats tonight. Had a wonderful time!! Crowd clapping, yelling high-fiving. Service is excellent! Had at least 4 wait staff stopping by table to see if we needed anything. Owner making sure we were enjoying ourselves. Felt like VIP's. Not unusual for Spats! Food was GREAT! Went with another couple and they felt the same. What really amazed me was the prices! We went here for dinner on Friday, August 7, 2020 for their all you can eat fish fry, and because they have outside seating. We placed our orders thinking that since it was the special of the night we would be served fairly quickly. Twice during the 40 minute period that we waited for our food to be served, the waitress stopped back and said it wouldn't be much longer. We couldn't understand what was going on since the restaurant wasn't very crowded. When she came back the third time we asked how much longer because we figured it was time to just forget it and go somewhere else. She told us that our order had accidentally been served to another table and it wouldn't be much longer. She then told us because of the mistake we would be comped and iced tea and one of the meals. Fair enough and much appreciated. While we were waiting for our meal, the table next to us had extra fish brought to them while we continued waiting for our meal. Finally we were served our meals. I asked for malt vinegar for the fries. Waited and waited....finally after about 5 minutes and no waitress in sight I went inside to see if someone else would give me a few vinegar packets. Another waitress brought them over, then our waitress finally showed up a few minutes later with it. She then asked us if we wanted more fish so we ordered a couple more pieces, which I knew was probably a mistake. 10-15 minutes later the extra fish showed up...without tartar sauce. I then realized they never brought lemon wedges to the table, which I asked for. Waited and waited for this. Finally gave up and just used the wedge on my iced tea glass. A few minutes later when we were done with our meals she brought the lemon. After an hour and a half of this nonsense we decided we just wanted to leave so we asked for the check, which by this time I told her we wanted it now and couldn't wait. It should also be noted that as an added bonus, we got to listen to the workers and patrons from the tattoo shop next door have a loud conversation while smoking and dropping f-bombs right next to where everyone was seated on the patio eating their food. I'm sure the old people and the people with little kids appreciated that! Not Spats fault, but perhaps the owner/management should address this, along with the waitresses not wearing gloves and touching rims of the drinking glasses. Too many screw ups at this place, will never return. They need to get their social distancing on that patio figured out too. read more

Went to Spats because they offered a coupon in restaurants.com. The environment inside was very busy with signage everywhere and the bar was crowded. The menu offered some interesting choices besides the typical burger fare. Two of our party of four ordered the lasagna and the other two ordered the strip steak. The wait wasn't very long and we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. The lasagna was excellent and came in a large portion. The toasted bread that came with it was just OK. The strip steaks were very tender and tasty with hardly no fat or gristle. The waitress was very attentive, energetic and friendly. All in all, a good experience. read more

Went there for the 1st time last night with my friend looking for some wine and a good meal to chat and catch up. Our waitress was an older lady who was the most RUDE person I have ever met. She should retire or not be allowed to be near customers she has absolutely no people skills whatsoever anymore. Not only did she passively insult us numerous times she argued with us when she messed up cashing us both out. We both paid with cards and she came back angrily yelling at us that we were trying to use a gift card!? It was my visa debit card that ive used at hundreds of restaurants with no issues. She said there wasnt an option to leave her a tip and now she wont get one because we paid with a gift card. AGAIN i had to explain that our cards ARE NOT GIFT CARDS!!!!!! What the hell is wrong with this lady? I dont know what she did wrong when she cashed us out but it wasnt our fault! Ive never not tipped in my life.
