It's not plagiarizing if you wrote it to begin with!] Taking advantage of the best fresh ingredients the area has to offer, local chef Paul Mendolera has honed his culinary creations down to a science by assembling a concise, curated menu of rustic comfort foods with the occasional posh twist, including flower garnishes and creative uses of maple syrup. On good days, Element 41 has the capacity to hit all the right marks, offering up better-than-average versions of the cozy foods Clevelanders crave during colder months. Try, for example, the stick-to-your-bones short ribs with sweet potato gnocchi, or the braised pork osso buco, with meat so tender it slides right into the cheesy, mushroom-laden mountain of risotto beneath it. Another standout is the beet and goat cheese salad, which comes in a bowl lined cheese and candied pecans and is topped with house-made maple-balsamic vinaigrette using local syrup. Some of the food is hit or miss, and the service can be, too; at a restaurant that aspires to be upscale in a small town, that can make all the difference. But in a small town, with abundant bounty but so few restaurant options, Element 41 is a pretty solid bet for brunch, lunch, and dinner alike. read more

Had dinner at the bar tonight and enjoyed it much! Located in a historic narrow building on the square in Chardon, the setting is very intimate. The bar is small, but L shaped to encourage conversation. It has some cool lighting effects built in under. They did a nice job with the tin ceiling details. The menu is creative and interesting. There were many items I'd eventually like to try. Tonight we had one of the Tuesday night taco specials where you get three for $8.50. We tried the pork. They were excellent! The kimchi slaw complimented the tender pulled pork and drizzle of sweet BBQ sauce. They were loaded with plenty of fillings. Then we had the burger off their menu upon hearing it played up. It was a large patty, but overdone for how we ordered it. Seems the people next to us had the same issue. The bun was fluffy soft and tasty. Their pickles were a nice accompaniment. The fresh cut fries were absolutely delicious and perfectly seasoned. I enjoyed their coleslaw as well. They offered beer and wine flights at a great price. Their beers on tap were all specialty craft beers. Loved that! We will be returning here for sure! read more

We've come here for breakfast and lunch a few times. Breakfast was ok, but their wings are very good. I've enjoyed them both times I've ordered them, and they're reasonably priced. Our waitresses have always been great too, and they have seating outside. read more

I got the roasted root vegetable salad. Not good!!! There were barely any root vegetables none in sight! The dressing was good and lettuce was fresh but if it's called the roasted root vegetable salad that food should have a more dominant presence. Not good very unprofessional. read more

Though they had few options for vegans/vegetarians, the option they did have that I got was the vegetable risotto (vegetarian) and it was absolutely DELICIOUS!!! The staff were extremely friendly and treated my family and I with such kindness that made us super comfortable. I would definitely recommend this place to someone looking for a nice meal to enjoy alone or with their family. I have it here a couple times trying to give it a chance. Each time the food was just mediocre at best. Definitely not worth the trip again.

My wife and I wanted to try someplace new for dinner, and I chose Element 41 and are so glad we did. We had an early dinner. My wife and I each had a glass of the house Merlot, which was pretty good. My wife ordered the Asiago Crusted Chicken and it was phenomenal. The entree consisted of the Asiago chicken with a wild mushroom reduction, roasted garlic mash potatoes and spinach. She said that was the best Asiago Crusted chicken she ever had. She thought that the garlic was a bit too pronounced in the mash potatoes (personal preference). I chose to have the crab cake appetizer as my dinner. The appetizer was comprised of two crab cakes, with remoulade and the house slaw. The crab cakes were very good, with a crusty exterior and a soft inner. The remoulade was really exquisite. The slaw was extremely good with the right balance of acidity, flavor, and texture. We asked about desert and ordered the Bacon Bourbon Maple Ice Cream. I mean come on, bacon ice cream, who could resist? The desert came with with whipped cream and a fresh strawberry. It was a real treat. I thought the bacon got a little soggy after being frozen, it could have been better if the bacon was crisper to start with. The bourbon was there to be sure which I really liked. Having said all that it was still a very good desert, and I would not hesitate to order it again. Our server was Melissa, and she took really good care of us, checking up on us frequently to se if everything was ok and if we needed anything. We definitely will be back. The atmosphere was very comforting, clean and inviting. It is a hidden gem in Chardon. read more

Second time at Element41 and we were very disappointed in both the service and food this time around. For Sunday brunch was told that drinks were not available but we could have a mimosa type drink made with a Truly so we ordered that, sodas for the kids and a coffee. All the drinks were served except the mimosa. When I asked about it, I was told it was coming. 10 minutes later our waitress said they were out. At this point we placed our order, scrambled eggs, bacon and toast for the kids, the turkey sandwich and the fried chicken sandwich. All standard menu options with no changes. It took over 20 minutes for the eggs to arrive with bacon that was so over cooked it was almost black and no toast. When we asked about the toast, the waitress said it was coming. 5 minutes later she brought out 2 pieces of toast and said the rest was coming. The final 2 pieces came after the meal was finished. The chicken sandwich was good with a nice salad. The turkey sandwich had turkey that was dried out and brown. Not sure what it was so it was left uneaten. The waitress never offered refills on water or coffee. A very disappointing experience in a restaurant that was less than 1/2 full. read more

We visited on Saturday and really enjoyed. I had the vegan burger with avocado and fries and my husband had the French toast. I also tried the iced tea which was a black currant flavor and very tasty. The burger was very good and came with lettuce, tomato and pickle slices, which I appreciated. If I were to change anything, I'd ask for more pickle slices (I got 3) and some onion. The fries were plentiful and very good. Nice and crispy and well seasoned. The french toast looked beautiful and the serving was generous. My husband said it tasted delicious and the berries were perfectly ripe. There was a huge scoop of whipped cream in the center of the plate along with maple syrup on the side and a dusting of powdered sugar. A side of breakfast meat was included and he had ham which looked great and he said tasted great. My husband ate every bite (which he usually doesn't do, especially at breakfast) and he's already asked when we can return. This is big since he wasn't excited to go initially as he thought it was a "frou-frou" place. Pricing was fair, even good. Service was attentive but not too much, which I appreciated. We didn't have to wait for a table or our food. We'll be back! read more

Hats off to this great Chardon restaurant that continues to serve good food during these challenging COVID times. Even after re-opening their dining room, they have continued to offer curb side effortless pickup. Place your order and pay for it over the phone. Call when you arrive and the food is pleasantly delivered to your waiting car by a server with a mask. For those wanting to dine in, that is an option too. You can take the food home or over to one of the many picnic tables the city has placed outside on the Chardon Square. What more could you as for! The burgers are FANTASTIC. I ordered my well done and was pleasantly surprised; it was cooked perfectly. The meat was cooked through but not charbroiled on the outside. The french fries were fabulous, even when they got cold which is saying something. They were perfectly seasoned. My husband said the cole slaw as the BEST he has ever tasted. And the bun .. wow! It was my husband's birthday, and we didn't even have room afterwards for cake. That is saying something about the portions. Next, we may try the brunch. Have heard lots of good things about it too. We went to their website and the website suggested using Google assist to make the reservations. Made the reservations, got the confirmation to my phone. Got to the restaurant and they said. We don't have your reservations. Huh? Then they said oh, did you make the reservations using Google Assist? yes. We are having trouble with that app. Why didnt you call me to tell me the confirmation wasnt good? No response. Very dissapointed. But after we checked their menu!! $16 for a burger!!. New local spot located in Chardon square. It is an American style restaurant. The only downside is the size, it is a small place - everything on the square is - so definitely call ahead or arrive a little early if you have a larger party. They have a small bar that you can sit at and grab food. They have a good veggie burger and also serve up breakfast on the weekends. read more

Really delicious! My husband and I got fish tacos and Brussels as an app and asiago crusted chicken and sea scallops for dinner. Our waitress was very lovely and helpful with our choices and the food was served promptly and beautifully. The portions were perfect, presentation was on point and the flavors were unique. Stopped in for Sunday brunch. Busier than normal. After more than five minutes we had to let them know we didnt have a waiter or drinks. Than they brought out drinks. Waited a long time. Than had to tell them we didnt have waiter. Finally placed order for food. Wife and i had bacon with our meals. Hers was absolutely burnt to a crisp and paper thin. I understand if you have a new hostess or a new wait staff member. Things may be slow or screwed up. But wenwere in the middle of the small restaraunt. Someone should have noticed the poor service and stepped in. read more

Excellent experience! We had dinner here Saturday and we were all very pleased with the food and the service. I had the Mushroom bisque to start, everyone else had the French Onion soup special. My bisque was SO decadent. I opted for the cup but wished I had ordered a bowl....I would get that again and again. Apparently the French Onion soup was a big hit as well. As for dinner, my husband had the Center cut Filet medallions over mashed potatoes and spinach which he said was AMAZING - the beef was so tender he could cut it with his fork, and he said the demi-glace was fantastic. My father in law had the Smoked Brisket dinner which also came with mashed potatoes along with Broccoli. I had the Salmon over Gouda grits with Broccoli as well. The broccoli was steamed perfectly, the salmon was cooked to perfection and the grits were delicious. We all devoured our meals and said that we would come back again. They also have a nice wine list...if you are a cab fan I highly recommend the Quilt Cabernet. Next time we hope to save some room for dessert. read more

This is just a lovely addition to the Chardon Square. I came here for brunch last Saturday, and was delightfully surprised with the fun and fresh brunch menu. I had the Eggs Benedict- it was delicious. Fresh ham, soft English muffin, fluffy poached eggs, and a bright hollandaise is what I was presented with. Simply lovely and well-executed. My dining partner had the chicken and waffles- again, it was delicious. Well-seasoned and moist fried chicken breast on top of a scrumptious waffle. Everything is appropriately priced and the portions are perfect. I strongly recommend this place for a Saturday or Sunday brunch with friends or fam. read more
