Heinen's grocery is what Whole Foods used to be before Amazon bought Whole Foods: whole foods with plenty of organic options. On the pricier side, yes. But its the natural grocery option in this area since the only other large grocery store in this area is the Walmart ten minutes away. read more

Everyone that works at Heinen's is so nice! The people working the meat, seafood & bakery counters actually know what they're doing. It's their specialty. You can ask them for advice with picking options. You can pick up a main entree with side dish items to cook at home from the cold counters. Our favorite is their lamb chops & potatoes au gratin. The bakery has TONS of options.. you can get decorated sugar cookies, oversized cupcakes, cannolis or tarts. If you're doing keto, they have brands such as Lily's chocolate, nutpods & calfia creamers. They didn't have the seasonal flavors I was looking for.. but that's okay. I still love this store because I can get my favorites locally without driving further into town. They always have great sales.. sushi rolls are $5 each on Wednesday's! read more

This Heinen's grocery store is probably the best Heinens around... for starters the building is very spacious and doesn't feel congested like the mayfield one.. The health/natural/gluten free section is one of the biggest selections out of all of the Heinen's stores I have been to.. tons of locally made items, which is great for picking up last minute gifts for friends and family. The employees are so nice, they gave my daughter a sticker at check out and she was ecstatic. read more

I love Heinen's and don't mind paying a bit more for quality and good service. I usually find both at Heinen's. I had one bad experience at this store though. I was looking for a particular type of bagged salad which was out of stock in the display. I asked a worker in the area for it and he acted as if it was a burden to go check. He made a comment to someone in the back at a loud enough volume for me to hear. Everyone has bad days, I get it if this was one of his, but it was disappointing. They didn't have the salad btw. Beyond that, the service is generally great and I shop there often. read more

I just moved here from Los Angeles, and markets in the Cleveland area are incredibly disappointing for the most part. I am spoiled when it comes to grocery shopping. I am used to having everything I need at my finger tips. I had no idea how daunting a task it would be to find an acceptable market to do all of my grocery shopping at. We moved to the sticks. From the city. What a culture shock that was in itself. Holy moly. The first time I went grocery shopping was at Walmart. Siri on my iPhone directed me to the town of Chardon. On my way, I saw a few grocery stores- Marc's, Giant Eagle, Heinen's. Walmart was a safe bet. I went to Walmart a few times, then ventured out of my comfort zone to Giant Eagle. I wasn't real impressed. It was your typical grocery store. Then I went to Marc's. Man, what a ghetto store that is! They only take Discover card, cash or checks. Seriously? Who in the hell has a Discover card? Finally, after being here about two months, I had been told to check out Heinen's. I took a quick trip over after going to Walmart to see what they had to offer. Good God. I stepped into Mecca. From my first step in the door, it smelled like essential oils. (I'm big on essential oils.) I went up to customer service to get a discount card and then decided to peruse the store. They have a good size vitamin and natural products section with an oil diffuser on display diffusing lavender into the air. I had tears in my eyes. Not from the scent, but as i looked around, I felt like this store could really be as close to home as I will get. They have a beautiful produce section, every shelf is stocked and every aisle is so clean. The workers are very friendly. They have a wonderful meat counter, seafood counter, deli, cheese counter and even a sushi counter. Their wine and beer selection is impressive as well. The best part of the whole store is the complimentary shopping cart valet service. The bag boy/girl will push your cart outside to the valet lane while you pull your car up, they load up your groceries and return the cart for you- AT NO EXTRA COST. So awesome in a place that has crappy weather for several months out of the year. While I was checking out, I told the cashier that it was pretty much a religious experience. They probably thought I was a crazy Californian. They are probably right. read more

Not only clean and huge variety, but service was top-notch all around. Being from Chicago, we googled 'where to buy meat?' - Google was right! Meat selection was superb and the customer service was amazing! Meat supervisor walked us around and explained the meat cuts and brands - she was wonderful. I'm a little surprised my first Yelp review is for a grocery store, but I suppose I like food. And as far as food goes, Heinen's has a great selection, especially for someone looking for fresher, healthier choices in Chardon. Besides the great selection of fruits, vegetables, seafood, meats, fresh almond butter (which may be an addictive substance), etc., they have a very good salad bar, sushi counter and grill which includes stir fries. The store has always appeared clean and the staff friendly and helpful, as well. You may spend a little more than you will at the other grocers in Chardon, but I think both the food and experience is well worth it. Did I mention the fresh almond butter? read more

Went into heinen's in chardon more than four times in the last two weeks. At least 3 times I have had Deb as the Cashier, she has been the most unpleasant clearly fake person I've ever had. She was not only condescending to me as the customer, but to the young men and women bagging my groceries. She acts like they are dumb when they are clearly just doing their jobs. I told Deb that I didn't have a heinen's card and she acted like I was a disgrace to her existence, to top it all off I had my credit card faced the wrong way for the chip, and she treated me like I'm a complete moron. It was awful she was awful more than one time that I had her as a Cashier. I love heinen's and that store specifically hence the 5 star review, but the one and only unpleasant experience was the Cashier Deb. read more

Got the stir fry today for lunch. I picked out my veggies and didn't want any meat. Like to eat healthy. You choose your own sauce so I told the guy light on the sauce. He was cooking others as he began to cook mine. He proceeded to squirt a gallon of cooking oil into the wok. My food was greasy. Made me sick to my stomach. Why must they cook with so much grease? I make stir-fry at home and it is supposed to be healthy, not made with a gallon of oil. Also, a few weeks ago, I picked up a couple of pieces of their ready-made, hot grilled chicken in the bag to take home for dinner. Their chicken is very tasty. The bag said "breasts" on it. It was around $5.00 (by the weight). I get to my car and look in it and it was definitely thighs, not breasts. I take it back into the store and they insist it's breasts. I began disagreeing with them as I know the difference between a thigh and a breast. I don't like the dark meat. She takes it back to the kitchen cook and then returns to me with the bag and said that he said those are breasts. I decided not to argue anymore. Took it home and gave it to my cats. I paid $5.00+ for two dark-meat thighs that I wouldn't eat. Very frustrating. What idiot do they have working in that kitchen? Probably the same guy who stir-fried my veggies in the gallon of oil that made me ill. Also may I add that they have raised their salad bar to $6.99 a pound. I got coleslaw that was old and spoiled. When I opened the container and it smelled like sauerkraut, that was the clue. And once I got some potato salad off the bar and it was old tasting. They put old food on their salad bar. Now I go to Giant Eagle for salad. At least their stuff is fresh. Someone needs to let them know. read more

Customer service is very poor. Every time I've been in there it appears the managers in Chardon are never doing anything but being lazy and any time I've asked a question they didn't know the answers and referred me to the associates working the floor. I used to go there quite a lot but I've noticed a severe decline in the help I've received over the last 2 months. I am a senior citizen and I shouldn't have to go out of my way to request help - if I need an answer or help with something don't refer me to someone else. I shouldn't have to wait for an associate. They should also recognize who their loyal customers are because all I hear is how they are so nice to people, but the honest answer is quite opposite - these employees never would have cut the mustard years ago. I've had it and as a result have been taking my business elsewhere. Hopefully, Heinens reads these reviews and uses this to better the service in the Chardon store. read more
