I'm visiting family and my sister wanted Hibachi so off we go! The restaurant itself is in a dying strip mall-I remember this plaza back in the day when it was the place to go! But upon entering it transforms into a nicely renovated space. It has nice tall booths if you want a more private experience, and tables in the center for groups. We had 6 so it was perfect., Our waitress was kind and attentive without being intrusive. Onto the food- it was delicious. We all got various Hibachi dinners. Mine was steak and chicken and it's served with a nice portion of rice and yum yum sauce. The steak was so flavorful! There was only one bad mark and it was a pretty big mistake: They forgot to make my hubbies meal. We were all eating and he had to watch us lol. I felt so bad. And he ordered the steak and lobster which was the most expensive meal lol. Anyhoo, the waitress felt horrible, she brought out some fried ice cream while we waited for his meal to go. They took half off his meal. I'm still giving it 4 stars despite this because the rest of us all had great meals. read more

Old Maple Leaf restaurant for those long time Chardonites. The inside pretty much looks the same but instead of where the salad bar is now there is a sushi bar. Food was good except for the the ginger dressing on the salad was weird. Tasted weird and had an odd texture. I would advise to look carefully at your bill. I had ordered a virgin drink and noticed there was an extra charge. Made no since to be charged more for not having alcohol so I pointed it out and it was an error, they charged me for both a virgin drink and the alcoholic version. Glad I looked because honestly I normally don't. Will give them another shot in the future! California roll was delicious as was the miso soup. read more

Pretty good sushi for pretty good prices, what more can I say than that!? Especially for a small Ohio town, I was quite shocked at the variety and quality they offer. If I were to make any complaint whatsoever, and this is getting very nitpicky...they need more consistency with front counter staff. I order take out from them quite a bit and would be nice one week to not have to explain in detail that yes, I understand there as an additional $1 per roll charge to add avocado to my spicy tuna rolls. Sushi good. Their hibachi little bland to my liking. Their udon soup is delicious! The broth is just out of the world, except if you get chicken udon soup, the chicken pretty wack/bland. Tastes like they boil the chicken and threw it in there with no seasoning. read more

This restaurant offers much more than sushi, but their sushi is the reason I'm writing this review! Fresh, delicious, nice portions, excellent quality, on par with any sushi I've had when I previously lived in Columbus and Chicago. Even the "simple" rolls, they do so well. My go-to rolls: salmon avocado, spicy tuna, the bagel roll (with extra sauce!), and shrimp tempura. I've also tried the cowboy roll. Having this place just across town in Chardon to fulfill my sushi cravings feels so lucky! read more

We got takeout from hayashi last night, it was phenomenal. I have never had one bad item there, both the sushi and hibachi is awesome! The portions are large and so are the sushi rolls. We have ate in the restaurant and have gotten take out many many times, each time has been as great as the last. We will be back again soon, I always look forward to gettint hayashi. read more

Ahhhhhmazing! So happy that this restaurant opened so close to home. The renovations are beautiful. My youngest daughter likes the bubble "waterfall" when you walk in the main doors. Best hibachi & sushi - hands down! Everything was fresh & tasty. Don't expect them to cook it in front of you - that's the only downfall. I go for the sushi, so it doesn't bother me at all. I heard their yum yum sauce is homemade. The employees are very nice and check in often. They use iPad/tablets to take your order - this leaves room for less error. read more

Great! The sushi was awesome! The tempura was good. I got steak and shrimp hibachi, it was good and cooked properly. No line, no wait. It probably won't be this slow as people learn about the restaurant. Chardon has sushi! Crazy!! I kept forgetting to take pictures, but great presentation. You will not be disappointed. read more

The food and building itself is amazing, but last night when we went out, our service wasn't so much. Our waiter, Lu, had her airpod in the entire time she served us and it felt rude and disrespectful. She barely came to check up on us and when she did, we were the ones who had to ask for refills; a good waiter should be refilling your drinks consistently and should be checking up on it's tables consistently as well. I don't normally like to write reviews, but this one needed to be said. My family and I were waiting around for her to come check up on us for refills and more sauce and it got very annoying in the long run. read more

A fabulous gem in the middle of a strip mall. We had Christmas dinner there and everything was wonderful. The Christmas cocktail was perfect for the season and a lovely way to start dinner. The ginger dressing in the salad was tasty and the rock shrimp appetizer fantastic with a mildly spicy sauce to die for. I had tasty teriyaki steak that was tender and juicy and my companions had the Hayashi dinner for two with lobster, shrimp and scallops and loved it. The prices were reasonable for high quality food, lovely service and a nice ambiance. I'd highly recommend having a meal here ! read more

This is the newest restaurant in town (2018). The owners also have China House on Water Street. They are hard workers and you can see the dedication in how they have established this restaurant. Awesome new spot in Chardon! Recently went there for sushi. They have a great variety of rolls, it was very clean and updated inside. You can dine in or order carry out. It's great to see the dining room is open for business again. We were going to get sushi for takout last night, but ate inside when we realized they were fully open. The takeout was always delicious, but it's nice to be able to enjoy the ambiance of the dining room, and be able to talk with Liu and her husband. Best new Chardon restaurant! Great food and a great menu with options for everyone. The hibachi, even though it isn't cooked in front of you, is the best in a 40 miles radius of Chardon. It was perfectly cooked and portions were large for a less steep price. The sushi was also great and our waitress was extremely good and well informed. The udon bowl was delicious and a healthy alternative to other options. The only negative is that the outside decor makes it look like a sketchy Asian restaurant and if they could change that I believe business would increase. The name is also a little weird.
