Pulled Pork Sandwich - Take Out
    Daniel D.

Excellent bar and restaurant in a very convenient area. This place has a secret Puerto Rican menu and I have to tell you the food was delectable. They serve very large portions, my wife and I both got the pork served with rice, potato salad and plantains. This is a must try restaurant that gives great value for your hard earned dollar.

Good food at a good price. Being a bar I wasn't expecting much when I order Mac N Cheese, but this was so good and fancier than expected.

My attempt at getting a pic of the cauliflower steak burger...it was a beast! Yay!

At first glance this restaurant looks like another typical sports bar, but looks are deceiving. It's a relaxed, family friendly bar atmosphere which I am seeing more of these days. We were immediately waited on by Erica O. She was sweet and courteous. The menu is refreshingly different from the usual pub fare, in that they have a cool $2 menu of tasty sliders and other apps. I started off with a Mexican mule made with some kinda cinnamon tequila. It was different but good. Then my hubby ordered a Cuban slider and a black and blue slider. I ordered the fried pickles. All 3 were just $2 each (what a deal) and really tasty. The Cuban slider did have a bit too much sauce on it, though. For our dinners we had the Classic burger with sage fries and the cauliflower steak burger with onion rings. It's really exciting for me as a vegetarian that there are items on the menu that I can eat other than the typical lousy black bean burger! Both burgers were tasty, but I found the sun-dried tomato aioli to be a bit too greasy for my liking on the cauliflower burger. I look forward to my next visit to Two Bucks so I can explore more of their interesting menu. Worth checking out if you're in the neighborhood.

A cold classic IPA and cloud fuel.

Girl behind bar was very friendly. Burger was good but well done - not medium well. Note to self medium next time. Fries were very good hot and fresh.

Food and service were outstanding. I had the Caprese Flatbread and Mom had the grilled cheese and bacon- cheddar with Pepperjack and tomato on sourdough with garlic fries- yum! High quality, generous servings, fair price.

Service is inconsistent. Tiffany is awful. Food is good. Bar atmosphere. It could be a good place but it needs better leadership.

"Hook and Hoof" has been in downtown Willoughby for quite a while so they must be doing something right. And the fact that there aren't that many high level dining establishments in the Willoughby area helps. The first thing I noticed was the facility is very narrow which lends to a crowded feel. And all you need is one overly boisterous table (which was right next to us) and the noise level can be overwhelming. The server we had for the evening was very pleasant. She did a good job being timely with everything. But, it was odd that she often did not listen to an entire request (or maybe just couldn't hear) before walking away. There were a couple of requests for simple standard items that she wasn't even sure they had. I just found it odd. The food however was excellent. The kitchen staff did an exemplary job all night. I had a marvelous cocktail from the well stocked bar. And my double cut pork chop was fantastic. So full of flavor, juicy, cooked exactly as I requested. The sides that accompanied it were just tender enough without being mushy. And my banana cream pie was great. Overall, I give "Hook and Hoof" a solid 4. I definitely can see us going back. They deserve another try. You should give them a try and see for yourself.

I will say the service was very slow, especially considering it was a Monday and hardly anyone else there - but I do acknowledge that they are a from scratch kitchen, so it makes sense. Unfortunately, that was not my experience with "Sage Karma Kitchen". We showed up there for a quick dinner. The room was maybe 25% full. Plenty of room for seating. The hostess thought it was a great idea to sit us directly in the scorching sun rather than every other table in the room that would have been shaded... oh well. Our waitress showed up to take our order before we had a chance to even pick up the menus. We asked for just a couple minutes and she cheerfully walked away. Seemingly, never to return. I looked all around for her until I found her leaning on the bar talking to friends. We finally placed our orders, somewhat begrudgingly. My wife had a bowl that she definitely enjoyed very much. She said she would like to return to try it again. I struggled to find anything on the menu that sounded remotely interesting and finally just ordered the hummus appetizer. I fear they left the flavor in the kitchen. It certainly never arrived at my table. When we were ready to leave I had to begin the search once more for our waitress. She was nowhere to be found. I couldn't even enlist the aid of the hostess because she had found a group of her own friends to talk with. Finally, I found our waitress and was able to escape. The two stars is only because my wife enjoyed her bowl. For me... naaa! Too bad. No second chance here.

We sat at tables that were pulled together for us...but there was plenty of bar seating as well. Our initial contact with the staff was upbeat and jovial...it was very surprising. They were helpful and definitely put us in a relaxed mood. I had a lot of questions regarding the menu, but was helped in a kind and patient manner. I ordered the sheet tray nachos, a vegetarian version of the sheet tray nachos, the fries, and the pierogi blt tacos. The food came out in a timely manner, and everything was tasty. My favorite were the pierogi blt tacos. How genius is it to cut open a potato pierogi and stuff it... So. Brilliant. The outside was crispy and the inside was warm and soft. The crispy bacon was the key ingredient, but the lettuce and tomato really completed the 'familiar flavors' and added texture I will definitely be back to try more food!
