A coworker and I were at one of our facilities nearby and were looking for a decent place to get lunch, neither of us being from that part if town. I always seek out the locally owned, non-chain spots with a lot of cars in the parking lot when not in a familiar place, and Glenwillow fit the bill. We walked in and were a little surprised by how fancy the dining room was - white tablecloths and a very nice ambiance, I almost felt underdressed - but there were guys in work uniforms at a table, and we made our way to the equally impressive bar area. I can only speak to the lunches we had and what we saw some out of the kitchen, but I'd love to go back for a dinner date. Lobster bisque was delicious and came in a large bowl. We both had salads, he the greens and I the Caesar "side" salads. They were huge - these weren't the lunch menu salads, mind you - just supposed sides. I'm not sure I could've eaten anything other than soup with a salad that size! We saw burgers (also massive) and "Flatbreads" that were more the size of a medium pizza delivered to the patrons around us and all appeared excellent. Definitely recommend for lunch, and hope to experience a dinner there soon! read more

Went for Happy Hour this time. Eight of us showed up at 4 p.m. The waitress greeted us and gave out menus. We ordered drinks while waiting for a couple of others. The Happy Hour menu had a nice selection of light and non-alcoholic beers, special drinks and some wine. My Pinot was $5. The only food item for Happy Hour is the flatbread of the day. Today the choice was Margarita with pepperoni. $7 got you a large flat bread, enough to share. I ordered from the main menu the Bubba Gump shrimp wrap with one side. Was delicious. French fries were good. I took half home. Service was a little slow. We were glad the orders were taken at once, the food arrive all together and we got separate checks. What happened? We have been going here or doing takeout since they opened for business. Everything was always fine if not great until last night's takeout. It was a simple 2-dinner order. Maybe it was a new cook but both orders were burned. The chicken parm looked pitch black around the edges & when turned over, the bottom was a solid hard crust of burn. The salmon dinner was ordered rare. We do this on purpose, knowing it will cook even further on the ride home & ordering it the way you would IN the restaurant would mean it's overcooked by the time you get home with it as takeout. Well the salmon had a HARD CRUSTED bottom, was horribly overcooked & because it was overcooked was dry. The baked potato was undercooked & had to be put in the microwave. Husband drove back immediately with the burnt chicken dinner. Girl said, "sorry" and nothing more. UPDATE. The credit that was done last night for the 1 dinner didn't appear to go through so my husband went back today and spoke with the manager who was very helpful. Looked over everything and even gave us a gift card for a future visit so I can say the customer service was much better the day AFTER than it was the day of. read more

A year later & another very solid dinner and lunch at Glenwillow. Staff is friendly. Three of us had dinner in the dining room on a Wednesday around 5pm. My friends enjoyed their burgers and I got the chicken portobello wrap, which was the same meal as last year & it was just as good. They have a nice happy hour which extends to their dining room & not just the bar area. They also have an outdoor patio. Thursday I had late lunch there & got a cheeseburger wrap & added bacon. A large group of friends also ate their separate from us Wednesday night & enjoyed it. The cheeseburger wrap was large & the taste was outstanding, so cheesy ! Their onion rings are HUGE and an A+! Glenwillow Grille used to be our favorite place to go on a Friday night for a drink and some food. The staff was friendly, the food was good, and they always had great music. In the past year, their food service has tanked. Every time we go there and order any type of food, it takes 45-60 minutes for it to come out of kitchen. Last night we ordered a quesadilla, chili, and a baked potato--that's it!--and we didn't get served our food for at least 45 minutes after ordering it. Sadly, my husband and I are now in search of a new favorite spot. read more

Glenwillow has one of the nicest patios around and I have eaten there many times and always enjoyed it. Today was a different story. As usual, food was very good and surroundings, as always, very inviting - both were a "5". Unfortunately, the service was a "0". It took a while for the server to offer us drinks, and she appeared bored and uninterested. When she took our order, I asked about specials (I ate there a week ago for lunch, and there were multiple specials); she said, annoyed that I had asked, no specials but she supposed they might be able to do something with figs (all she had to say was, unfortunately, there were no specials). Then we sat for almost 40 minutes waiting for our food, while the table behind us, seated at the same time, ate, paid and left! I asked the hostess if she could check on our food; she came back to the patio several times after we spoke and said nothing to us. I finally approach our server, who had not once checked in with us after ordering, and asked about our meals. She told me they were working on it, when I mentioned the table behind us, she said "their meals came from a different part of the kitchen! We ordered a wrap and chicken tacos! Server was very personable, but very slow, as was the kitchen. Saw the server 3 times in 2 hours, once to take order, once to bring food, once to bring check, never checked on us for drink refills or how meals were. Took a hour from time we ordered until time we got our meals. No bread served with meals, $4 upcharge from French Fries to Baked Potato on a $29 entrée. 3% service charge for using credit card. Total from sitting down at table until we got our check a little over 2 hours. Rib dinner was good, French Dip was fair. Nice restaurant but very loud. read more

The starters menu at the restaurant was just the thing for me after a day of cross-country flying that started far too early. The spicy street tacos, served in an appropriate steel holder, were wonderful: a cavalcade of flavor with enough protein to fulfill one's daily quota. The sweet potato tots, recommended by my server, Jamie, were a revelation. Perhaps not designed to be charred, the light char, in combination with the mustard Jamie brought, added a depth of smoky flavor in addition to the sweet, sour, and crunchy snack. Jamie, my server, was a balm to my tired self. She didn't just bring food, she brought human connection and warmth, much appreciated after a long day. My friend and I stopped by on a Thursday night for dinner. The restaurant has a nice ambiance, smoke parking, and the service was great. We both ordered salads - they were huge! I had to take half of mine home. I thought the price point was reasonable for the food we received. The inside was quiet and beautiful. This would be a nice place to go for a date or a family dinner. I wouldn't recommend for young children although I'm sure you could bring them. It appeared to also have a nice bar, as well. read more

Chose the Glenwillow on reputation - we've been told the food was great. Met our family there - 5 of us, including a 3 1/2 year old. My daughter called and asked that we order an appetizer so our grandson would have something to eat when they arrived as she said, "the service can be slow." We had a 6:45 reservation, and received our food at close to 8pm. We were told that the kitchen would be slow because of a large group, however, we watched that large group finish and leave by about 7:20. Then, when everything did arrive, my order arrived last, and incorrectly and had to be sent back to the kitchen. It was a burger and a simple order - no excuse for it being done wrong. I am an amateur chef, but I could have served 20 people in that 1 1/4 hours, in my personal kitchen and made all the meals correctly. There is no excuse for a professional kitchen to take so long to put out an order of ribs, a salad, a burger, fries, and stuffed mushrooms. The pizza had come out long before we even were able to order which satisfied our grandson, but luckily I brought things to entertain him while the rest of us waited to get our meals. In that time frame, our waiter disappeared and we needed to approach the hostess to find out where our meal was. It just wasn't worth it. So disappointed. read more

Service was a bit slow, but 20% tip was added in, so go figure. Also, salads were oversized, but they charged 4$ to share. This was my first time at Glenwillow Grille. Five friends were meeting for lunch. They have a pretty extensive menu. They are somewhat pricey for lunch. I had the Chicken Portobello Wrap. And substituted Onion Rings for the fries. The food took quite awhile to come out. But it was definitely worth the wait. The onion rings were probably the best I have had. Was in town and this was recommended by our hotel. It was a nice, inviting and warm place with hardwood and a sort of rustic feel. We were sat in the bar area which was nice as the dining area seemed much more formal. The drinks were good (strawberry margarita, regular margarita, and a raspberry margarita). The service was slow as the place appears to be understaffed... but it was a Tuesday and it's hard to find work. Our waiter/bartender Josh was very pleasant and the menu offered a wide range of options. The French Dip and fries was excellent. Third time we've had bad service. Got a wedge salad. Didn't even give me a quarter of a head of lettuce. Was supposed to have blue cheese crumbles on top which I requested. They said it would. It did not. They gave me bacon, which was undercooked, slimy, stringy, and chewy. The chicken they put on the top was supposed to be grilled, but in fact it tasted like boiled chicken, no flavor, and was only a half a breasted chicken. Barely any chicken on top. The price was ridiculous. Was supposed to have balsamic vinaigrette dressing. They had the tiniest drizzle on there. Not even enough to really taste. Definitely not enough to cover that quarter of my head of lettuce. Come on guys you guys can do better than this. This is ridiculous. Baked potato was the same, they were stingy with the Sour cream, the bacon was raw and stringy and chewy. Disgusting. My go to place for dinner and drinks. Cozy atmosphere and wonderful staff. We usually get a table in the bar area but dining room just as nice. They even have party room, that is off of the main dining room, to accommodate larger groups. The Portobello Wrap is amazing and I also love the French Dip Sandwich. Both come with sides, I usually get fries with mine. They also offer a soup of the day and their wine & cocktail selection is great! Beautiful patio too, if you're looking for outdoor dining. For being one of the only restaurants in Glenwillow, Glenwillow Grille is a fine option. Its big, the food is A-OK and they can accommodate large parties. When I initially walked in, about four staff members were having an internal argument at the hostess podium. It was just me - and I stood there and waited for a solid 5-minutes while they hashed it out (and fully aware I was there). It was so awkward and at one point we almost left because we weren't sure if we should or not. Our bill was quite expensive for our dinner. We started with the lobster risotto balls and each had fish for dinner. To be honest, it wasn't very memorable for me. I liked my Walleye but remember very little about the entire experience other than being a little shocked by the tab for what we ordered. I may come back again if I'm in the area. read more

Hi! I'm home for the season and we are enjoying our time here. This week we've been bopping around and I went to Glenwillow. Oh, the inside of the restaurant was immaculate and so clean. Our waitress was stupendous. We went at around 2 PM and we had the place to ourselves. I ordered the Shrimp and Garlic Sauce and it came out nice and hot perfect. Shrimp was well prepared. My Mister ordered the Broccoli Chicken, we also ordered the Calamari and I had some Lobster Bisque. BTW their lobstah bisque was top notch some of the smoothest and most creamy I've ever tasted, but so much you couldn't finish the bowl. I definitely tasted Cognac. Pretty sure. I'm not a drinker, though. Cognac not cheap Sherry. LOL Really nice. I was considering ordering a gallon to go--seriously. read more

This place is definitely a 5 star to me. When visiting with my 92year old father for the day, we decided on the Glen Willow Cafe. Ate here a year ago and would go back everyday for the next three weeks if I could to sample the many varieties on the menu. Our group of 6 was quickly seated on a Sunday afternoon. A very quiet atmosphere is had in the dining room. We started with a spinach artichoke with chips for an appetizer. Very good and enough to feed the Six of us. I moved on to the chicken parm with linguine. A huge plate came out. The chicken was properly cooked and had added tomatoes and spices. Very, very tasty. If you went to a fancy Italian place it would not be better. Choose this over my second choice of ribs or third choice of the brisket burger. A great variety on the menu. Others at the table had the brisket burger, chicken tortillas, a seafood plate and my sister had a wrap. Overall 5 start food, 5 star atmosphere and 5 star staff. Can't wait for the next visit. My 16yo son and I recently re located to the northeast Ohio area. So all the local restaurants and businesses are an Adventure for us. I found this location from a review another yelper had posted. We arrived at the restaurant about 6:03 p.m. Wednesday and was greeted with live jazz music being played on the patio. We were surprised and ecstatic to be seated within a few minutes in the patio area. The ambience , cleanliness, and décor were absolutely superb. Negatives- Slow server responses. Many times she disappeared for several minutes without checking in. My son complained multiple times that he needed refills and service. It was 12 to 15 minutes between service checkins on two occasions. Menu lacked thorough descriptions and preparation details. We ordered the artichoke and spinach dip because that's what we try everywhere we go. My son was not a fan of the light flaky pita chips that came with the dish but I found them a great contrast to the heavy cream of the dip. For my entree i ordered the lobster flatbread. My son ordered the California walnut salad with Grilled chicken added. The menu was not clear on the preparation of the flat bread so I was not expecting the cold, steamed lobster I received. The combination of the sauce and lobster did not provide a favorable aroma or look appetizing. I didn't want to try the dish but did. I did not like it at all. In contrast my son loved the grilled chicken California spinach walnut salad with a raspberry vinegarette. He gave me a taste and it was wonderful and fresh. I ordered a glass of wine while enjoying the music and sent back the lobster dish in exchange for Pasta with shrimp . The pasta was cooked to al dente perfection and the shrimp weri e grilled just right!! For dessert my son ordered a 5 layer chocolate mousse cake. See picture for drools !! :-) It was a great experience overall. The kitchen was kind in accepting the return of my 1st entree selection. The artist performing was very talented and played no less than 6 different instruments himself and sang. Our total bill was around $85 with an 18% tip. Very nice venue for a bridal shower. Food was good. I met Paula ahead of time as I wanted to see the venue and plan the decorations. She pushed her ideas which I said that we didn't want. We would have small vases of white flowers for the table. She said not enough room. We asked to be there at 11 for a 1 o'clock party. She said too early but we went. They were starting to vacuum and Paula had decorated just as SHE wanted. Gold balls hanging from the ceiling, confetti and fake little leaves on the table. Ribbon around the napkins. Wouldn't you vacuum and clean before you decorate? I asked her to take it all away. Our simple elegant flowers went on the tables. If your into free, outdated decorations, go for it. read more
