Looking for the best corn dogs in Denver? This is the place! And you can get them at midnight! We were blown away by the food here. There are plenty of vegan options as well (including a delicious vegan corn dog). It was pretty busy and took a little while to get our food but it was worth the wait. Prices were reasonable and I felt I got good value for my money. The drinks we order were good and strong. The wait staff was busy but on top of things and frequently checked in with us. It's a smaller place but felt very comfortable. We are lucky in able to find a table which are all a good size however there was room left the bar too. I especially liked the huge colorful yet not bright lights. It gave a place a really cool vibe. It's on Broadway set parking can be a little tricky and definitely be sure to check the parking signs (they do ticket!). read more

Service was okay; but made me feel slightly annoying when I had to ask for tzatziki sauce. Really enjoyed the bathroom graffiti as well as the art for sale in the dining room. I'm not lying when I say this place is very trendy. I almost felt out of place with only 2 tattoos and not an ounce of thrifted clothing on me. But truly a good experience. I had the grilled cheese with tomato which was excellent. Muenster and asiago between three pieces of bread was so delicious. It was served with a tangy sauce that was great for dipping with my fries. And even though I didn't partake, my sister was raving about the $5 bottomless mimosas. Every Saturday and Sunday from 10am-3pm, can't beat that. The service was friendly if not a little slow, but nothing I wouldn't come back for. The Chimi with tempeh had SO much potential to be an AMAZING sandwich. Normally with tempeh sandwiches, they give you tiny, thin slices of tempeh and fluff it with greens or other veggies. Not the Chimi. It had thick, crispy, hearty tempeh slabs, drizzled with garlicky Chimi sauce. YUM. Unfortunately, the ciabatta bun was dry, cold and also really thick. So the whole sandwich was hard to eat without it falling apart. Dunno if they were understaffed but all the waiters seemed really stressed out and rushed. The first thing noticed when walking in was the music. The bartender had a killer playlist on and made us feel right at home. Surprisingly good considering the state of the kitchen. Clearly a local joint. Probably a good place to stop in for a late drink or brunch to soak up the night before. The atmosphere is very down to earth and relaxing. Very hipster feel with Chinese lanterns and Christmas lights as the only light source. Had the stranger things vibe. I ordered the pulled pork tacos with fries on the side. WOW! These tacos were amazing. The salsa verde was the perfect amount of spicy. Plenty of pork wrapped in two torillas. This was the third (and last) bar of the evening. While ordering our drinks, we were encouraged to order the brussel sprouts - apparently they're awesome. Next time bro (we had just eaten). We sat up front and were able to observe passers by. Highlight of the bar was the photo booth. Unfortunately, after feeding it some cash, it didn't work. When I came in for happy hour with my friend, the local, it was kismet. Delicious local beers on tap with a side of YUMMY food AT GREAT HAPPY HOUR PRICES - what else do you need? OH I KNOW, A bartender that gives up his favorite secret breakfast place because he knows you're from out of town and he wants you to experience the awesome as well. AND THEN, takes out a ticket book and dictates all of his favorite bars and restaurants and must see sights in Denver so you can write them all down. I've started a diet that is essentially vegan and was worried about ruining it by going out with my parents for Father's Day brunch, so I searched on Yelp and found a couple of vegan restaurants. Most were downtown, and knowing that my parents wouldn't want to hassle with parking, I choose Sputnik, which is just south of Alameda on Broadway. I also liked the fact that Sputnik isn't 100% vegan as my stepdad is a big meat eater. It took a couple tried to find this little eatery - the sign was small and directly behind a tree. The vibe inside is casual and veryhipster/nuevo-hippy. It's a coffee bar and diner, essentially that plays 60's hippies rock music. Pretty cute! The menus are kept at the table, which would be ok if they were laminated but there were just paper and they were pretty crumpled up and stained. The table also didn't look terribly clean. Service was quick, though not terribly friendly. I ordered the vegan breakfast burrito with scrambled tofu, potatoes, pinto beans and green chili. First time trying tofu as an egg substitute but I've got to say I'm a fan! The green chili was also very good. After eating nothing but fruits and veggies for a week, this was a real treat! Mom ordered arepas. She was curious about the jackfruit, so she ordered that instead of shredded pork, but she told the server she still wanted cheese. Dish came out vegan anyway, and she said the arepas were pretty flavorless. On the plus side, she did like the jackfruit! I don't know what my stepdad ordered, but I'm sure it was not vegan and it ate it all quickly and without complaint. So overall, I'd say Sputnik isn't for everyone and they've got room for improvement, but it's really nice to have a vegan option in the Englewood area. read more

One time I asked the bartender what some of the specials were on a shot and she recommended the most expensive one, not because it was good she just wanted to up the bill and it was so obvious. I hadn't been here to eat in years, but I used to eat here a lot in my mid 20's. And the food used to be awesome. (Omg the Benny Mac sandwich...heart attack waiting to happen but so good!) That being said, went today for brunch. Finally settled on this thing called "South Broadway Hash". Spoiler alert: it was f**king wretched. I ate probably maybe 8 bites (tried to eat the eggs and chorizo, which were the only edible bits). Veggies were barely cooked and it was inexplicably covered in what appeared to be kale, which I HATE. I won't be eating here again until their food vastly improves. read more

This place is kinda divey but fun. They cater to your dietary needs which is cool, they have a vegan menu. The selection of dipping sauces for their fries was interesting. We shared tacos, corn dogs (of the vegan AND non-vegan variety), sweet potato fries and fried pickles. Everything was tasty. The only issue we had was that service was a little less than speedy and not friendly at all. Perhaps that's the thing here? I know a few places sort of pride themselves on the irony of bad service. The wrap I ordered was decent I also had a rice bowl which tasted like bland microwaved leftovers, the specialty of a typical community college freshmen. There was no dance floor anywhere in the place which made me wonder as to why the music was TOO DAMN LOUD! The food is really good. I have liked several of the things that I have tried. I have been here three times and have had great service once which seems to be par for the course at vegetarian restaurants in Denver. Not that the service was terrible but the servers were just kind of rude, it felt like I was interrupting them and making them have to work. It's very dimly lit and the booths feel private and intimate. Awesome mimosa carafes for $6 during weekend brunch happy hour. Wife had a Soul Bowl with tempeh, and reports that it was very good. 15 year old son had some Mac and cheese, which wasn't a very large serving. I want to like this place just because it's one of the few places to obtain a vegan meal in Colorado But please BEWARE this place is falling apart. On my first visit tonight, I moved my stool back a few inches to have a seat, however little did I know the floor is broken with a 3 inch diameter hole in floor. The one chair leg went in the hole and I went crashing on to my back. It seemed the hole had previously been covered with duct tape and was located near a floor vent. A couple customers helped me get up but I don't think staff wanted to acknowledge my fall? Meanwhile I was waiting for my first date to arrive so I dusted myself off and tried to walk it off and put a fake smile on my face. My back is bruised up and still in pain... Last night was my second night ever at Sputnik.. the first time was while I was visiting Denver (pre-covid). Last night (during Covid) we went to celebrate our one week of living in Denver. It was an absolute cluster**** but it didn't need to be. The female server was the problem. She was hammered and making things difficult for everyone. She gave away our to-go order after we waited 45 minutes for it. We felt so bad for her coworkers, they were all apologetic. The male server looked like he was having to do double the work.. mind you, this is a Friday night and they were at capacity. My boyfriend and I have both been in service industry, we get it. Things happen. Orders get screwed up. But this chick was messed up, she was on something or just wasted. Who knows. Watching her completely confused on her POS, logging herself out and clicking random buttons to "check on our order" gave us a laugh. TLDR -- the food is delicious!! If you're vegan make sure to go here. Order from the bar. DO NOT ORDER FROM THE FEMALE SERVER. We got a vegan corndog and the vegan backyard BBQ sandwich and we can wait to eat there again. Despite the sloppy drunk server, we love the place. We learned our lesson and won't order to-go or from the female server. We WILL be back based off of the incredible vegan food, atmosphere, bartenders and sympathetic male server. read more

I love that Sputnik has a bunch of veggie friendly options and is super affordable, but I'd be happy to pay a couple bucks more for food that was executed a bit better - although I appreciate a good cheap dive now and again. Stopped in with some friends on a Sunday morning and shared a cheap carafe of cheap mimosa (would be a great starting point for a budget day-drunk). I had the falafel, and my friends shared the chilaquiles and a cuban. The falafel was a bit dry but had good flavor, I think adding some more tzatziki or having a more assertive flavor on the tzatziki would've helped. I liked the slab of vegan spam on the cuban but it needed a lot more pickle/mustard flavor to taste like the real thing. I appreciated that the restaurant wasn't slammed with brunchers, but it definitely felt and tasted like a cheap restaurant. Service was friendly but a bit slow. Next time I'm a little bit more hungover and in the area, I think that might improve the experience. read more
