I am giving this place 5 stars because every time I have eaten there, I have always left with a good experience. I've been coming here for 5 years now and it always makes me feel so full and worth the money. The variety of veggies, noodles, and sauces are solid but the meat is not AYCE. However, the quality of the meat is actually really good and I think it's definitely worth the splurge (it is pricey ~$5 per box) but it's good and honestly I sometimes don't order the meat and just do veggies/fish balls and I'm solid! As for service, the waiters are very quick and efficient. The wait time does get long during dinner hours so I would suggest to get there 30mins before opening! The place itself is pretty clean and everyone is having a good time. Surprisingly this AYCE hot pot place is one of my favorites that I been too. The meat and vegetables are really fresh and I love that every hot pot is individual. It's a great change to Communal hot pot especially during Covid times. Pricing is actually pretty reasonably, the only downside is the meat items are ala carte and not included in the individual hot pot price. With that said all the vegetables and tofu hot pot items are included. This is great for someone who doesn't eat a lot of red meat like myself. This is my favorite shabu shabu place around. The standard fee covers all veggies, noodles, sauces, and more. The first time I went I got meat as well, but quickly learned that was not necessary since the buffet style set up is extensive and provides lots of options. The food available seems fresh and is always well stocked, I've never seen them run out of anything while I'm there. The service is good. Despite this being a cook your own food place, the servers are still very attentive. Sometimes there's a wait to get in, but it generally doesn't take more than 30 min since there are a lot of tables and a time limit. They are pretty loose on the time limit as long as there are not people waiting for the table, which I appreciate. This is a large restaurant with a lot of tables. Sometimes it feels a bit like a dining hall. My only complaint (but not really) is that none of the tables are really set up for parties over 6 people, so it's harder to come here with a large group. read more

We tried the pork bone broth and the mala broth with ribeye, pork belly and fish as meat options. The highlight was definitely the soft serve at the end, weird as it sounds. This is by far my favorite hotpot spot. Finally made my way here on New Year's Day and revisited again this weekend. They are not doing weekday lunch anymore so if you want to get in for lunch and try to avoid the long wait times, I would go when they first open on the weekend. Each time we still had to wait as a line starts to form prior to the restaurant even opening. This last visit, they asked for proof of vaccination (so be prepared!) which stalled getting seated but we got in fairly quickly. They won't seat you until your entire party is present. I love the setup of the AYCE - typical hotpot places will just give you portions of the items selected, sometimes too much, sometimes not enough. You end up feeling like Goldilocks - when is it just right? At Spring Shabu Shabu! Here you can pick as much or as little of AYCE veggies, noodles, tofu and meatballs. Sometimes I don't want a gallon of watercress but I do want a gallon of enoki mushrooms. The best part - everyone gets their own pot of broth. No more having to wait for someone else to finish cooking the food - what you cook is what you eat. Out of courtesy, they do ask to use gloves (which are provided at each station) when handling the buffet area. AYCE Dinner will run you $18.95. Even for non vegetarians - this is a steal! Another restaurant that was recently recommended to me and I'm glad I had the opportunity to try it. We arrived right as the restaurant opened and did not have a wait on a Friday,however, when we were leaving, there were people waiting. There also was a line of people waiting for the doors to open too. One thing to note is that they will not seat you unless your entire party is present. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. It was my first time at a hot pot place, and I had a couple of questions. The menu was limited for soups/meat options. However, the toppings/buffet area was plentiful. I do wish they had water chestnuts, but it is very possible that I just missed them. There were a variety of options to select. Furthermore, we had a vegetarian with us and they had ample options. For a busy hot pot buffet at a very good price ($16.95 for weekday lunch, $20.95 for weekend and holiday dinners), I was pleasantly surprised at the freshness of the vegetables and the overall cleanliness of the place. They do not take reservations and you have to go in person to put your name down. For a party of 8 on a Saturday evening they told us that it would be a 90-minute wait but they ended up calling us 45 minutes later. Most people at my table got the mala broth while I tried the pork bone broth. The pork bone broth had an extremely light flavor so I recommend getting the mala broth if you want more flavor-- the mala was not spicy at all. The buffet had a decent selection of fish balls but we decided to order sliced meats for extra cost. We tried the beef ribeye ($5.25), beef top blade ($5), lamb ($4), and white fish ($7). The meat slices were quite thick for shabu-shabu standards. I liked the white fish which was very fresh and tender. The lamb had weird crunchy cartilage/tendon in it. The ribeye was a little bit too thick so it was chewy. They have a huge selection of vegetables (bok choy, watercress, napa cabbage, cabbage, other greens), root vegetables (taro, potato, sweet potato, etc), tofu, and mushrooms. Everything was super fresh. I had fun trying the different types of fish balls (wasn't a fan of the cheese fish ball though). I highly recommend getting their noodles which are super fresh and chewy! The sauce bar has a bunch of things you can use to customize your sauce. The sesame paste was unexpectedly sweet and lacked sesame flavor. They do not have any dessert except for a soft-serve machine that has vanilla, matcha, and swirl. I could see this place as a vegetarian's dream (unless you're super concerned about cross-contamination from the fish, although the organization of the place should prevent that). Some things could be improved (more flavor in the broth, thinner slices of meat, better quality meat, etc) but I still think you get a good deal for what you pay for. read more

I've been here several times and this is definitely one of my go-tos for hotpot, but this was my first time coming since COVID - I forgot how amazing this place was! We came here right after opening on a Sunday and were seated quite quickly. The place really filled up fast though and there was a line outside while we left so I'd definitely recommend coming sooner rather than later if you don't want to wait! Our server was really nice and quick to take our order for our broth choice and any meat / protein we wanted. I honestly can do without the meat since the fish balls are enough protein for me, but my friends and I split a few plates of it anyway. Two people can split one order honestly as the quantity is pretty decent and definitely worth the price so it's not a waste of money if you do want it. I love the variety and quality of all the choices in the buffet. They have all the staples when it comes to vegetables ( watercress, bokchoy, napa cabbage, etc. ) and go above and beyond with the fish ball and noodle selection as well. They didn't have the roe-stuffed fish balls that I always take, but they've diversified and added one filled with cheese which was super interesting ( I'd recommend trying it just to see if you like it, but it's like the fake nacho cheese so make sure you can eat that first ) so hopefully they'll bring them back. The noodles of course didn't disappoint, just as good as I remember, and the sauce station still had all the selections I love ( chili oil, bean curd, garlic, etc. ). The ice cream machine ( another huge highlight ) was honestly a little disappointing flavor-wise as the matcha just tasted like vanilla with a hint of green tea, but the consistency was still really good and the soft serve honestly ends the meal perfectly regardless. Overall, this is the best place for hotpot in the Boston area in my opinion. Reading from all the reviews, I had high expectations! Unfortunately, they don't meet the expectations. First, the soup was bland. It is like dipping your food in hot water instead of a soup base. We ordered pork soup base and mala soup base fyi. Second, the meat quality is just average, if not, below average. Because they cut the meat super thin, when dipped in soup, they turn dark quicker. Very dark. The seafood platter was alright. Nothing special. The fish balls selection is nice but there's so much fish balls one can consume. Nice selection of noodles and vegetables. The food bar was cute, clean, and well organized. Ice cream was alright. To compare, McDonald ice cream was better. Overall, I was full but NOT satisfied. I wish I could give the place a better review but it just did not meet my expectations for a hot pot place. Dinner $18.95 on a weekday Staff was alright. Not super friendly. Just normal. They have tons of leafy greens, root vegetables, mushrooms, fish cakes, noodles, egg, etc to grab with regular refills. Spring Shabu Shabu is my favorite Asian restaurant in the Greater Boston area. There are a lot of hot pot places in So-Cal where I grew up, but I still think Spring Shabu Shabu should come out here and will be able to compete because it is that good. What's not to like? It's AYCE yet affordable, even for dinner. There are so many ingredients to choose from, and they seem fresh every time I go. You can be adventurous and explore less well known ingredients, like daisy leaves and pumpkin noodle, or stick to your tried-and-true hot pot ingredients. My favorites are the fishcake, noodle, and rice cake assortments. I always get the mala broth, which is the only spicy option. It's not too strong, so you can still taste the natural flavors of your ingredients. You get your own pot, so you don't have to worry if you are going with someone who doesn't eat spicy or vice versa. Covid experience: They have staff behind the buffet bars to serve the ingredients of your choosing. I personally prefer the self-serve method where I have more control of the quantity I put on my plate. Other buffet places I've been to during covid provide food-grade poly gloves that you have to put on before going to the buffet bars, which has worked well so far. You get sauces in small plastic containers instead of getting them from the buffet bar. I like to mix some hoisin sauce with peanut and sesame paste, and sprinkle some cilantro and green onions on top. Soft serve ice cream is also brought to your table by your wait staff and is not self-serve. The buffet really makes the meal so good! The green tea ice cream is the perfect refreshment to finish the meal. However, the green tea ice cream was a bit gritty instead if the normal homogenous kind. It wasn't as good so I hope they switch back to the normal kind. The only thing is that the popularity makes it crowded and there are no reservations. On the weekends there are about 50 people in line by opening time. There are a large amount of tables but they fill up quickly. Because of the 90 minute limit, expect to get a table opening around 7:45-8:00pm if you put ur name on the list. I would recommend either coming before 5pm or putting ur name on the list expecting to wait until 8ish. However, it is definitely worth the wait!!
