Amazing service and options. The food never misses. It must be noted the staff are great and will get you your next round of all you can eat plates very quick! They use minitable to take reservations and can get very busy during peak hours, my best advice is to join the waitlist as you are traveling in to avoid waiting outside.

You can never go wrong with AYCE hot pot, especially the ones with ample options and a self-service sauce bar! I enjoy the variety at Happy Lamb, from the cuts to the veggies that make for a great, well-rounded meal. I'll never say no to hot pot, especially on a cold winter day in Boston, and Happy Lamb continues to be my top choice in Chinatown. The star of the show for me is the golden cabbage marrow broth - everything about it is truly one of a kind and keeps you very warm. It's a repeat order for me, given how well the items you cook in the broth pick up the pronounced flavors. The space is relatively clean with ample seating. Parking, however, can be tricky to find given it's right in Chinatown, so plan accordingly if you're not trekking by foot to get here. Service was on the slower side, but the staff were accommodating and made sure we got what we needed. We ended up ordering two rounds worth of meat, which was plenty to share between two hungry meat eaters. Overall, I would recommend this spot for a first-time hot pot experience or for veterans looking to find a new favorite.

Gets very busy so prepared to wait ~1 hour upon signing up on the waitlist. They changed to an AYCE with a Classic and Premium option, which just has some upgraded protein options. The buffet also has some lo mein, fried rice, spring rolls, and sesame balls - but would recommend passing on these to avoid getting full. One thing that is unique to Happy Lamb is the shrimp paste which has a spongey texture that soaks up the broth nicely.

Great food, great place! The only complaint is that it is on the pricier side compared to other hotpot places I've been before that offer the same meat selection. Otherwise, the quality of the meat was very nice and soft. The vegetable and seafood selection was pretty good. And I really enjoyed how quick the were to bring out all meats and food.

We came here on a rainy weekday and it was the perfect pick me up from the weather. I've had lots of different hotpot in my life and this place holds up to the top tier places I've been to. It's all you can eat, which is apparently not common in the area. We got the regular option. The cuts of meat were pretty good. The veggies and other items to throw into the soup were par for the course. The buffet component included things like shrimp chips, sesame balls, fried noodles, which is nice. The service was attentive and quick.

There are a few hotpot spots in Boston's Chinatown, but Happy Lamb is now at the top of my list, and it's the one I'd recommend if you're looking to try hotpot. This place offers Mongolian-style hotpot, and the spicy broth has great flavor--rich and aromatic without being overwhelmingly spicy. It's all-you-can-eat for 90 minutes, which is plenty of time to enjoy a satisfying meal. You can choose from different pricing levels based on the quality of meat. Once you make your selection, you order meats through the server, while vegetables, condiments, and sauces are available buffet-style for you to grab yourself. The meat quality is excellent, everything is fresh, and the service is friendly and efficient. Highly recommend if you're craving hotpot with good flavor, variety, and a relaxed vibe!

Well, I just realized that I've never written a review for the happy lamb hot pot. This review is way overdue. Today a friend and I decided to get a hot pot and we both mentioned happy lamb at the same time so as you can imagine that's where we ended up. we were crossing the street and we noticed the sandwich sign that says $19.99 or you could eat happy hour. as soon as we set down, we inquired what the $20 would include. There are six types of meat included include the lamb, the beef, the garlic, beef, pork, chicken, and one other that I can't recollect at the moment. And for those of you that have never been here. They have an amazing set up with all the vegetable noodles. Anything you could possibly think of to put in hot pot help yourself. You basically get up fill up a plate or a bowl with your favorite sauces and things to dunk in the hot pot. They have extremely fresh vegetables seafood. Everything is help yourself the only thing that they serve via waiter waitress of the meats. Thank God, we were starving when we got there, and we devoured plate after plate of sliced greatness and piles and piles of vegetables. After we were there an hour and a half wait came over with the bill and he's like oh your time is up. Take your time and finish what you have. This was a surprise to me. I did not know there was a time limit. When we went in, we just inquired about happy hour pricing and we said yeah we'll have that. On the menu actually 90 minutes. I am not sure if that includes regular pricing so call ahead to find out. If you only have 90 minutes to eat the buffet, you have to order a lot upfront as they do not kick you out they just don't let you order anymore or go up and get additional vegetables, etc.. anyway as usual at a hot pot restaurant there's not much interaction except when you're getting meats. I can say the restaurant is clean. The staff was very polite, accepting knowledgeable, prompt, and knew how to keep the customers happy with plenty of meat available quickly, which is great with the time limit. As anywhere else in China Chinatown good luck finding a spot as usual. The parking God took great care of me as soon as I was close to the restaurant boom there was a spot you can't get any better than dollars on a meter for two hours anywhere in Boston especially Chinatown. I definitely would recommend trying out the hot pot here oh by the way we got a split pot mild on one side spicy on the other have about five or six different choices to pick from .

Happy Lamb is one of the many hot pot restaurants in the city, and it occupies its own niche within that space. Nominally, it's Mongolian-style hot pot, though adjusted to suit the Chinese palate. This is not a Sichuan ultra-spicy hot pot spot - go across the street to Liuyishou for that. The price point here is also a step below the "premium" spots like Liuyishou and Qiaolin (in Allston), and certainly more affordable than Mikiya at the other end of Chinatown. So what exactly does this place offer? It's all-you-can-eat, starting in the upper $20s to lower $30s (depending on the day of the week), with upsell options for premium meats. I went on a Wednesday night and paid $28.99 per person. Dining time is limited to 90 minutes per party. The marrow broths (both spicy and not) are the highlight here - rich and herbal, the kind of soup you'd expect from a Cantonese restaurant that simmers stock for half a day. The meat selection is clean and decently presented. Sliced meats are ordered through the servers, while everything else - from vegetables to meatballs to rice noodles - is available on self-serve refrigerated shelves. Service here exceeds expectations. The staff are polite, patient, and prompt. Not a single hint of disaffected attitude. Overall, this is my go-to spot for hot pot. It offers an accessible price point, flavorful broth (when I'm not in the mood for Sichuan spice), great value, and pleasant service. Note: The waitlist is managed via a QR code posted on the window. It's not available online.

Got the premium platter during lunch with the half and half combo. Love the service here and the food. We did some serious damage and were so full.

Very standard AYCE hot pot that Happy Lamb is known for. Dinner pricing was expensive, so I would recommend going during lunch instead of dinner. Server was super nice and attentive - very easy to order all the meats whenever we requested it. Very homey and busy all the time. Would also recommend booking a reservation 30 min prior to going.

Had to utilize the buy 3 get 1 free deal. It ends on August 21,2025. Tried the premium cuts of meat that consisted of beef tongue one of my favorites . I also enjoyed the lamb bones they were also yummy. Service was over the top the waitors are really nice. Came here Thursday night it was pretty packed . Always love happy lamb it's a good place to visit in Chinatown for sure

Food seems kinda the same with same old meats that are not really good quality. But again you are really stuffing yo face with non qualify meats. It's $33 on a Friday night for the cheapest option. The waitlist at code by the door is messed up but everyone is holding down the plastic cover to scan it. There is like 2 other qr by th wall entrance that no one pays attn to except me!! Cuz we got there by 8:10 pm and waited about 30 minutes, and they close at 9:30 pm, they kinda rush you by 9:15pm to pay and settle checks and take your last meats. They clear away all food buffet things by 9:25 pm. When you ask for the. Meats, it about 10 minutes to get it.

They allow you to split the pot which is nice. There is a vegetarian broth available, but the choices for veggie options are limited compared to spring shabu shabu or hungry pot.

Staff was very knowledgeable about each entree, and provided information about how entrees were cooked and served. They also had a "halvsies" menu of half-size portions (ideal portions for one or two diners). Started with the Mama Chang Pork Dumplings, which were excellent, and the cauliflower appetizer (a little spicy, but very good). Liked the udon noodles with chicken and bok choy, although a little less red chili pepper would have suited my tastes better (good for those who like a bit of zing to their food). The lettuce wrap chicken was well worth the 20-minute wait. Finished with the lemon ginger mousse, which was very light. The fortune cookie on the mousse was fresh and crisp, so good that some thought it might have been baked at Joanne Chang's Flour Cafe and Bakery. The finish was extra nice, with a red lucky envelope with chocolates accompanying the check, an orange at each table (signs for good fortune in the New Year), and red decorations hanging in the restaurant to create a festive setting. Good choice for the start of the New Lunar Year of the Fire Horse!

The interior is very cool, cozy, and the cool red paint design on the glass windows makes it all feel very charming and comfortable. We did have a bit of a wait for our table despite having reservations. We ordered a bunch of appetizers to share between the 4 of us - scallion pancake, bourbon chicken wings, spicy salmon rolls, pork belly buns, sliced beef, eggplant, hot n sour soup, golden potato and lemongrass soup. I think my favorite of those was the eggplant dish - perfectly cooked and flavorful with ginger and soy. Wings were good too. The soups were nice I liked the hot n sour one. The lemongrass soup was a creamy one quite tasty but also quite filling and rich. For entrees, we ordered the roasted soy glazed salmon, the Indonesian fried rice, bok choy and surf and turf noodles. Everything was good. We were all so full and also had leftovers. But decided to order dessert too - everyone loved the vanilla bean ice cream (the menu described it as a parfait) with orange granita - really generous too - 3 scoops of ice cream and the orange sorbet which was more granular than a sorbet more like very finely crushed ice. Very refreshing! The banana caramel crème brûlée was really good too - nice and creamy. The lemon ginger mousse was very creamy but I thought had a bit too much of ginger. I think the deserts were hands down everyone's favorite part of the meal despite everyone pretty much denying they wanted any! Service was very friendly by our server Julie who was delightful! Lovely young lady. Overall great experience!!

When we walked into Legal, the place was dead, the music was awful, and the vibe was just not there. So we sat at the bar and grabbed a drink while searching for a place to get an actual dinner where we could find last-minute reservations. Shojo in Chinatown came up with great reviews and after looking at the menu and seeing that we could get a reservation, we headed over. It was a short walk from the Ritz and Chinatown is just such a fun place with great energy. When we walked in, we knew we had made the right call and were easily able to switch our reservation from a table to bar seats, which is always an added bonus. The place is low lit and the music is on the louder side, but nothing was excessive to the point that we didn't enjoy our time there. We ordered a variety of drinks while there - a Toki Highball draft, a spicy tequila drink with lemongrass, a few different types of Japanese whiskeys as well (they have a really extensive list). As far as food goes, they categorize their menu into Snacks, Baos, and Rice, Noodles, and Dumplings. There's a lot of vegetarian friendly options, which is always a plus for me. My highlights were the 7 vegetable stir fry, fried eggplant bao, edamame dumplings, and the Thai veggie spring rolls. The salt and pepper calamari was also really great. Everything was terrific and really unique. Service was good - not great, but they took notice of empty glasses and were quick to bring out food, so I have absolutely no complaints. Shojo is somewhere I'd absolutely return to when staying in the area, I'm really happy we all turned what would have been a very touristy, depressing experience into something with a WAY better vibe and time!

We each ordered our own meal while sharing bites. While there are a few entrees at Cloud Asian Fusion that include both protein and vegetable, such as the Braised White Fish $22 (assorted mushrooms, fried tofu) one DC ordered, mine (Siam Crab Curry $22 - lump crab, spicy red curry, basil, bean sprouts, Thai Chili, thin rice noodles) and my other DC's (Mapo Katsu $16 (chicken katsu, mapo sauce, short grain white rice, furikake) came without (I don't count the small stash of raw bean sprouts on my plate), so I added the blistered green beans $16. Our server was pleasant and told me that they could make anything less mild. Even so, the slow burn from the milder Siam Crab Curry was a bit more than I would have liked. He checked up on me and offered to have the chef prepare a fresh batch with a milder curry powder instead, so I could better enjoy my meal. The original orange yellow of my crab curry bowl was turned a green yellow in its replacement. But it was still tasty, and still generous with lump crab meat. This was a good pick! The green bean vegetable dish was quite good too. I was happy with my meal. I sampled the other two dishes and found the regular mapo sauce recipe too spicy for my taste. The fish dish was tasty, but we found nothing especially fusion about it. 3 stars all around experience, but 4 stars for my own meal.

This place is popping! Even though it was later in the evening, the restaurant was still really full. However we didn't have to wait too long to get seated. I loved the decor in here, such neat details and even a column with a dragon on it! So cool. It's a dark restaurant so it was hard to read the menu, but otherwise, it's a very cool vibe here and feels very lounge-y. Our server was awesome, he was friendly and explained the restaurant style to us - it's like tapas, you order a few items to share and recommended 2 - 3 items per person would be sufficient. It was only 2 of us and we shared 3 items total, and that was more than enough. We apparently arrived so late that our server informed us that we only had a short time before the kitchen was closing for the night. But he said that he would return before the kitchen closed in case we wanted to order additional menu items. We were intrigued by the Japanese/Peruvian fusion menu and tried a few things: Kuromitsu Brussel Sprouts Spicy Salmon Fritas Bo Bo Chicken I was most excited about the Bo Bo Chicken a it had a sichuan chili oil and I love spicy, but it was not spicy at all (to me). But the flavor was really good. My favorite was the Brussels sprouts. I loved the char on them and the ginger black honey on it was so good. I don't eat salmon, but my friend said the Salmon Fritas was great and really enjoyed them. I would say this was the best meal we had on our trip!

There was a great singer, pianist, and sax player to really set the mood. They were super fun, especially when a couple got engaged! To start, I got their ginger martini and while my friend went with a Do-er neat (not a whiskey drinker myself, lol). He tried to order 2 of their beers but they were out of both. My drink came after 15 mins and then we had to remind the waiter about his whiskey. That took another 10. We started with the chicken bao buns and the samosas. Both spectacular! My only complaint is the little size for the samosa size. For our mains we got the short rib and the white butter chicken. The butter chicken could've used a bit more chicken for the price and was frankly a bit tough. The sauce was great. The short rib was flavorful and packed the perfect punch. Dipping the garlic naan in both sauces was my fav part!! Overall an ok experience. I want to give the restaurant grace because it was very packed but service was poor. I think we had 4 different staff members help us total which probably led to lots of miscommunication.
