Was in Boston for a few days and I needed to try Happy Lamb! I don't know why it took me so long but I finally tried it. For 40 dollars (on the higher end), I think you can definitely make your moneys worth. The beef tongue and beef toro were my favs and a lot of the meats surprised me with how good they are! The restaurant was not very crowded and service was very fast. Makes me want to try a happy lamb in California!
Amazing service and options. The food never misses. It must be noted the staff are great and will get you your next round of all you can eat plates very quick! They use minitable to take reservations and can get very busy during peak hours, my best advice is to join the waitlist as you are traveling in to avoid waiting outside.
You can never go wrong with AYCE hot pot, especially the ones with ample options and a self-service sauce bar! I enjoy the variety at Happy Lamb, from the cuts to the veggies that make for a great, well-rounded meal. I'll never say no to hot pot, especially on a cold winter day in Boston, and Happy Lamb continues to be my top choice in Chinatown. The star of the show for me is the golden cabbage marrow broth - everything about it is truly one of a kind and keeps you very warm. It's a repeat order for me, given how well the items you cook in the broth pick up the pronounced flavors. The space is relatively clean with ample seating. Parking, however, can be tricky to find given it's right in Chinatown, so plan accordingly if you're not trekking by foot to get here. Service was on the slower side, but the staff were accommodating and made sure we got what we needed. We ended up ordering two rounds worth of meat, which was plenty to share between two hungry meat eaters. Overall, I would recommend this spot for a first-time hot pot experience or for veterans looking to find a new favorite.
Gets very busy so prepared to wait ~1 hour upon signing up on the waitlist. They changed to an AYCE with a Classic and Premium option, which just has some upgraded protein options. The buffet also has some lo mein, fried rice, spring rolls, and sesame balls - but would recommend passing on these to avoid getting full. One thing that is unique to Happy Lamb is the shrimp paste which has a spongey texture that soaks up the broth nicely.
We came here on a rainy weekday and it was the perfect pick me up from the weather. I've had lots of different hotpot in my life and this place holds up to the top tier places I've been to. It's all you can eat, which is apparently not common in the area. We got the regular option. The cuts of meat were pretty good. The veggies and other items to throw into the soup were par for the course. The buffet component included things like shrimp chips, sesame balls, fried noodles, which is nice. The service was attentive and quick.

Well, I just realized that I've never written a review for the happy lamb hot pot. This review is way overdue. Today a friend and I decided to get a hot pot and we both mentioned happy lamb at the same time so as you can imagine that's where we ended up. we were crossing the street and we noticed the sandwich sign that says $19.99 or you could eat happy hour. as soon as we set down, we inquired what the $20 would include. There are six types of meat included include the lamb, the beef, the garlic, beef, pork, chicken, and one other that I can't recollect at the moment. And for those of you that have never been here. They have an amazing set up with all the vegetable noodles. Anything you could possibly think of to put in hot pot help yourself. You basically get up fill up a plate or a bowl with your favorite sauces and things to dunk in the hot pot. They have extremely fresh vegetables seafood. Everything is help yourself the only thing that they serve via waiter waitress of the meats. Thank God, we were starving when we got there, and we devoured plate after plate of sliced greatness and piles and piles of vegetables. After we were there an hour and a half wait came over with the bill and he's like oh your time is up. Take your time and finish what you have. This was a surprise to me. I did not know there was a time limit. When we went in, we just inquired about happy hour pricing and we said yeah we'll have that. On the menu actually 90 minutes. I am not sure if that includes regular pricing so call ahead to find out. If you only have 90 minutes to eat the buffet, you have to order a lot upfront as they do not kick you out they just don't let you order anymore or go up and get additional vegetables, etc.. anyway as usual at a hot pot restaurant there's not much interaction except when you're getting meats. I can say the restaurant is clean. The staff was very polite, accepting knowledgeable, prompt, and knew how to keep the customers happy with plenty of meat available quickly, which is great with the time limit. As anywhere else in China Chinatown good luck finding a spot as usual. The parking God took great care of me as soon as I was close to the restaurant boom there was a spot you can't get any better than dollars on a meter for two hours anywhere in Boston especially Chinatown. I definitely would recommend trying out the hot pot here oh by the way we got a split pot mild on one side spicy on the other have about five or six different choices to pick from .
Got the premium platter during lunch with the half and half combo. Love the service here and the food. We did some serious damage and were so full.
Had to utilize the buy 3 get 1 free deal. It ends on August 21,2025. Tried the premium cuts of meat that consisted of beef tongue one of my favorites . I also enjoyed the lamb bones they were also yummy. Service was over the top the waitors are really nice. Came here Thursday night it was pretty packed . I love hot pot at Happy Lamb. The food is so filling, especially the beef tripe and the beef tendons! The service is a little bit slow. The ambience is a little bit loud.
Food seems kinda the same with same old meats that are not really good quality. But again you are really stuffing yo face with non qualify meats. It's $33 on a Friday night for the cheapest option. The waitlist at code by the door is messed up but everyone is holding down the plastic cover to scan it. There is like 2 other qr by th wall entrance that no one pays attn to except me!! Cuz we got there by 8:10 pm and waited about 30 minutes, and they close at 9:30 pm, they kinda rush you by 9:15pm to pay and settle checks and take your last meats. They clear away all food buffet things by 9:25 pm. When you ask for the. Meats, it about 10 minutes to get it.
They allow you to split the pot which is nice. There is a vegetarian broth available, but the choices for veggie options are limited compared to spring shabu shabu or hungry pot.
Happy Lamb currently has a "happy hour" special. $19.99 / per person for the base AYCE tier, which is $9 cheaper than usual. This is available M-F 12-4pm. Unsure when the establishment will get rid of it. Might be seasonal during the summer months. Otherwise, the offering is unchanged. Mongolian style hot pot, meats ordered through the servers and everything else on shelves for self service. Servers swing by regularly to clear plates and place more orders. Here in Boston to celebrate our sons 25th birthday. He had seen and heard about "Hot Pot" and the antler to give it a try. Naturally I used Yelp! To find a good place to go and Happy Lamb for the bill. We arrived early, doors still closed but the vestibule was available for us to sit while waiting. In the vestibule they have their menu posted so we browsed while waiting and had decided on what we wanted. Doors open and immediately sat at a table with flat burners. Decor is Asian themed with plenty of seating. Space is well utilized. Menu given and order taken. Once the hot soup portion was done and our protein picked out off to the buffet portion of this experience. They have three large shelves coolers with multiple shelves filled with veggies, noodles, and fish to add to your hot pot experience. They also offered hot apps and fried rice. Our two broths in one pot arrived and the fun began. Different flavor combinations as well as texture. My husband had a little bit of a hard time because we were given two spoons for both broths. I had the slotted one and he had the regular spoon so he had a hard time fishing out his add ons. Once we realized this was an issue we were given more spoons. Service was great, clarified items for us and was there when ever we needed. We made the mistake of reading too fast and thought we ordered beef tongue when it was beef TRIPE! I was in Boston for business. After a long workday I wanted to grab something and return to my hotel. I saw the restaurant and I thought I could go in and order to go. But it is a hot pot restaurant and you have 90 minutes to eat all that you can eat. I selected two different broths and had some spicy and garlic beef and beef and lamb. The food was fresh and the waiter explained to me how to set up the hot pot as far as waiting for the broth to boil and putting the meat and other items into the pot. I enjoyed the experience. Make sure not to bring AMEX to pay as the restaurant doesn't take it. If ever in Boston again I would return to the restaurant. read more

Very standard AYCE hot pot that Happy Lamb is known for. Dinner pricing was expensive, so I would recommend going during lunch instead of dinner. Server was super nice and attentive - very easy to order all the meats whenever we requested it. Very homey and busy all the time. Always good experience with happy lamb. Haven't been in a while to any locations but tonight was the night as the lady and others haven't tried yet. Yes, come here, eat. AYCE at a reasonable price. lamb, hand cut thin beef, garlic marinated beef and spicy marinated beef, that's all we needed. Easy to order, all sides veggies sodas and extra's are on the wall and included in your meal. We opted for the tomato broth, good flavor well balanced. I enjoyed the space, the staff was very attentive and they seem to have their system down. As many of the items you'd ask for like drinks, veggies, sauce station, and some of the seafood items are on the serve yourself walls. We had 3-4 servers checking in on us regularly, grabbing more meats, clearing plates etc. the wait can be really long at times, scan QR code and join the waitlist. Our wait today was 10-15min but we had party of 3 with an earlier timed dinner. It gets to 2 hour waits at times especially during dinner rush/ weekends. For the cost $32 roughly had all that my party wanted they do have VIP package with more meats like beef tongue and premium lamb cuts but for us that wasn't needed. Def enjoyed this spot and will be back again, chinatown parking is always a gamble but we lucked out with finding a spot by Tyler street and walking over, witnessed an accident (parking related haha) and the booming atmosphere of Chinatown is nice to see again. I don't know why it took me so long to come try Happy Lamb Hot Pot, but I'm so glad I did today! We were actually planning to try yesterday. We drove around looking for parking & saw how packed they were + line looked atrocious haha. Decided to try again today. Wait was not too long, ~15-20 min at 5pm Saturday. Pricing: AYCE price varies, depending on the day you go. For Mon-Thurs, it's $27.99/pp & Fri-Sun/Holidays, it's $31.99/pp. Also, they have a VIP menu, which offers a few different meats from their regular AYCE ($35.99/pp Mon-Thurs, $38.99/pp Fri-Sun/Holidays). Happy Lamb has two other locations in MA, Cambridge & Allston. We opted for their regular AYCE menu & did the tomato broth soup base. They have 5 different base options here: Original Marrow, Spicy Marrow, Tomato, Golden Cabbage Marrow, & Curry (upon request). All broths are a combo of chicken + beef bone base. Fountain drinks are free with the AYCE meal, and can get as many refills as you'd like! Meats we ordered: Lamb, hand sliced beef, marinated beef, & marinated spicy beef. I really enjoyed their veggie selection; also where you can find the seafood they offer (shrimp, fish paste, white fish, mussels). A couple things I liked about dining here: relatively clean! Service is great, 3 of the workers kept checking in on us to make sure we had everything we needed & asked often if we wanted to order more meats. Liked that it was DIY, like the drinks. This is an all you can eat hot pot place in Chinatown. You pay for the meats which can also be unlimited per person and the veggies, noodles and seafood are part of the package. Their menus and staff are great at explaining the options. The place seems to always be busy but always clean and everything looks fresh. read more
First time at this location. Love the ability to scan a QR code posted at the door to join the waiting list. The wait was about 20 minutes. Once we sat down, the service team was quick to get our orders in and maximizing the alloy time. The beef was good, vegetables fresh and always love the tomato soup. Surprised to find a soda machine at this location. The jasmine tea and berry juice was disappointing. If it's like the other locations, the drinks rotate. There are several tv's spread out and music playing across the dining area. But I barely looked at what was on and couldn't hear much of anything with a packed dining area. You get to choose broth of choice and meat of choice then everything else you go up and grab whatever and as many plates as you want. Bonus is the drink and sauce station. Always unlimited! Our go-to for bringing guests to their first time hot pot! Their quality of meat, vegetables, noodles, and sides is good enough and above par for an AYCE style. They offer a ranged selection of meats, the spicy garlic beef and the hand slice beef being my favorite. Their broths are flavorful, you can skip the plain one though! Tomato broth is almost tomato soupy and great for a cold winter night. We usually also do a split with the spicy broth and ask for it extra spicy. Their service is busy, but very attentive and the ambiance is what I'd expect from any AYCE place, a little fast paced but relaxed and enjoyable still. I absolutely love Happy Lamb! I'd been to the Cambridge location a few times, but this was my first time going to the one in Chinatown. It just so happened that we went during Chinese New Year celebrations, which made it even more fun. I came in a group of 5 on a weekend for a late lunch and there was a bit of a wait. Be sure to check in ahead online. I love all the options here, from the meats brought to your table, to the vegetable/noodle selection at the buffet, to the sauce bar. Everything tasted pretty fresh and you can keep going back for more. My only complaint is the broths tend to be very salty, especially with the addition of sauces. It was rainy and cold and we waited for 20 minutes for a seat while there's many in the store that they just wouldn't give to us. No service at all, ordering of meat takes a thousand years to appear. Meat is bad though, not fresh and powder-like. You should really try some good Chinese food not falling into scam like this. We ordered the second round of meat and it just never appear. 18% tips for 6 or more, though we're divided into 4 and 2 at different tables. This is one of my go to places for hot pot in Chinatown. For AYCE at 32$ on weekends and 28$ on weekdays it's so worth it. This place is always packed so expect to wait a bit if you show up on a weekend. For the broth I like to get the spicy marrow broth and the tomato broth. You can't go wrong with any of the meat selections especially at the AYCE price. The veggies and seafood are all self service out of a refrigerator section on one side of the restaurant which makes getting what you want easy. Overall the good prices and decent service will keep me coming back whenever I'm craving hot pot. read more

$32 AYCE on weekends & $28 on weekdays is such a STEAL especially when you have an unlimited selection of buffet-style vegetables, mushrooms, seafood, sauce bar, desserts (sliced fruits), and drinks We ordered a pot of half tomato and half original bone marrow broth (both are so good) , as well as a ton (AYCE) marbled lamb and hand sliced beef short plates we loved their mango green tea and unsweetened green tea as well We visited the Happy Lamb location in Boston's Chinatown and by joining the online waitlist, we didn't have to wait any longer than 15 minutes for a table!
