I want to first start by saying we visit this location in Katy pretty regularly. There were 6 of us who decided to grab a bite to eat on the 25th, and it was pretty terrible. The lady working the register was very rude. We sat down with our plates and usually are greeted shortly after with hot fresh rolls. That didn't happen this time. In fact, we had to ask twice for them and were told both times they were not cooking any at the moment, at 5 pm they weren't cooking any? When the lady finally brought us some, they were cold and hard. Other than the guys on the line, nobody really seemed interested in being helpful or friendly. When I lived in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, Spring Creek was on my regular rotation. Any place that gives free Blue Bell icecream on Sunday's after church had me hooked. Then I got transferred to an area without any Spring Creek. So I was pleasantly surprised to see this location when I was in Houston on a business trip. After business was completed, I headed straight here. It was a great location, on I 10, headed back to the San Antonio area. I pulled in and got front row parking. I walked in, and it brought back a lot of great old memories. Ordering was the same as it used to be, so I ordered what used to be my regular order - ribs and a loaded baked potato. I grabbed some onions and pickles and then picked up my order. I rushed to my table so I could get started. I grabbed a rib and bit in. It was good, but not as good as I remembered. Then I took a bite of my potato, and it was amazing. I put a little sauce on the next rib - the sauce was really good, but I am not a sauce person. Did I mention the bread? They bake it continuously and bring around to your table. Of course I had that young lady coming back frequently. I love to dip that bread in the sauce:) Will I return? This review is for online ordering at the Missouri City, TX location. We ordered online and it went pretty well, except that you could not customize the order with extra notes, like wanting bark on the brisket. We got pickle spears instead of hamburger dill pickles that usually go with BBQ. When picking up the food, it was ready, and the staff person was helpful. I asked if there were rolls in the bags, but she didn't know, so she asked someone to bring 4 rolls. So we ended up with a lot of rolls, which is great, but we didn't mean to get so much bread. : ) The food did taste good. The main point is that there is no place to put in notes for an online order for specific things you want that are not listed in the menu. read more

This place is my favorite Barbeque restaurant. Their smoked chicken and brisket is tender and tasty. The sides (baked beans, coleslaw, macaroni, green beans, corn, potato salad) are filling and you can refill on sides as long as you request for another clean plate. Good meat, great extras. I believe SCB is an import from Plano/Dallas. Working in downtown Houston, I would equate it to Pappas Barbecue. Overall, not great barbecue, but not bad either. What makes SCB stand-out is everything beyond the meat. Comparing SCB to the nearby Rudy's, I actually prefer the barbecue at Rudy's over SCB, but SCB has awesome unlimited sides, free rolls that are brought to your table, and delicious desserts. Pie, cobbler, and free Blue Bell ice cream! Rudy's basically has meat and a few refrigerated sides. I had the brisket meat in a sandwich and as a dinner. The meat is good....not a big smoke ring, and not too dry. The sauce is very tasty, sweet, not overly thick and blends well with the meat. On my last visit, SCB was offering beef ribs, which I wanted to try. Instead, I received pork ribs, which were still very tasty. The pork itself was cooked perfectly...almost fall-off-the-bone, but not too much to make a greasy mess. Other rib places I have visited in the past offered ribs with a dry rub so tasty that they did not need sauce. SCB ribs are good, but still better with a bit of sauce. I have had SCB turkey in the past and was not that impressed. The breast looks like a chunk of processed meat you find at a grocery store deli. It also didn't have much taste beyond grocery store deli meat. The chicken...very good. Yes, it tasted like rotisserie chicken, and SCB does it well. Again, a little bit of sauce makes it better. I really like the sides at SCB. Corn on the cob, green beans, mac and cheese and delicious barbecue beans. SCB also has cole slaw and potato salad, but I usually go for the green beans, BBQ beans and mac and cheese. The rolls are very tasty. They look like tiny loaves of bread and are always hot and fresh. Expect a worker to come by your table with a basket of fresh rolls right after they come out of the oven. If you like cobbler for dessert, SCB has a delicious apple cobbler with Blue Bell for an additional $5. Overall, expect to pay an average of $15 a person. My wife is a teacher and SCB always gives them a coupon at the end of the year for their service. SCB has great community support. Another thing I like is the code names that the meat cutters yell-out when you place your order. Pay attention...it's quite amusing. On my last visit, Rudy's had a long line at 2:30pm on a Sunday, so we went to nearby SCB. We had a shorter line at SCB and the food was good. Some Christian country music was piped-in and ran on a half-hour loop. A waitress came by with free ice cream just after we sat down with our food, but we thanked her and told her we would wait until we finished. When we completed our meal, we found that SCB had run out of Blue Bell. Big bummer. I would normally give SCB a solid 3.5 stars, but based on our last visit, running out of Blue Bell ruined the end of the meal and knocked my rating down a bit. I know, dessert may seem petty, but this is Blue Bell we are talking about! read more

We hardly eat here, but when we do it's for the unlimited sides since we take it home and make 2+ meals out of it. BEEF + SAUSAGE COMBO $14.25- the black pepper sausage is very good. It doesn't have a "snap," but the flavor makes up for it. I got lean brisket which was fine. RIB COMBO $14.75- the ribs are pretty good and tender. Good amount of meat and not fatty The fresh rolls are so good, but they take too long to bake. I was halfway through my meal before I got one and couldn't even get a second one to go. The sides are all pretty good (mac and cheese, potato salad, coleslaw, green beans), however the mac and cheese was cold by the time I started eating. Not sure if they were already cold or because the fans are all on high. Don't really care for the beans or corn on the cob though. read more

We've eaten at this location for YEARS. 90% of the time we ordered food to bring home - 40+ miles away. Last couple of years, we've just be going to the 1093 location because it's much closer. Yesterday, my husband went out of his way coming home to pickup food from the Westgreen location in Katy. We always order extra lean brisket. What we got wasn't lean though we paid for lean. I thought the meat had a strange aftertaste yesterday. (We get enough to warm up for supper the next day.) Today, not only was there an aftertaste, there was a smell. Keep in mind, my order was $60+. So about 6 months ago, I placed an online order for pickup. Go in to pick it up and the manager who's helping with the online order pickups ignores me for 20 minutes. Luckily one of the staff comes around and asks me if I need help. I tell her that I had an online order and she finally helps me. It left a bad enough taste in my mouth to not go there any more. Fast forward to today and my daughter tells me that it's Spirit night and I have to order from there to help her school out. So I place my online order and drive in to pick it up. This time I was prepared to tackle someone to get their attention. After tapping an overworked staff on the shoulder to get my order, I told him that I want to make sure the school gets the credit. Used to love this place but not so much any more. Tonight a two meat plate, which cost $17.00, consisted of four small pieces of brisket and so.e sausage. I had to ask for sauce and butter. One of my favorite parts of eating here's the unlimited sides. This is no longer offered. I was told it was because of Covid. This makes no sense. I suspect it is a cost cutting ploy. As a food allergy family I could not be more grateful for this Katy location! Trusting someone else to cook for your anaphylactic child is a scary thing but not only is there a comprehensive allergy menu online but when you walk through the line, at the Katy location, and tell them you have an allergy (my daughter is severely allergic to dairy which are in the rolls they touch and out on every plate) they are super accommodating and are willing to do whatever we need plus going well beyond! We always ask for them to change gloves before handling the meat that my daughter will be eating. They then go the extra step and open a brand new brisket as well as bring out new knives and cutting board! When I say this is legit the only restaurant we can count on I mean it! When mama needs a break from cooking this is our go to restaurant. We have tried other locations when traveling around the city but they just don't handle food allergies the same. No other restaurant takes better care of my baby girl than Spring Creek Katy! Thank you so much Spring Creek Katy!!! Not only is your food always bomb but your staff is fantastic and your willingness to go the extra step gives our family one safe restaurant and we are very grateful! All the staff and everyone that work there is super friendly and welcoming . Do you feel like family while you're there And the fresh baked rolls will literally have you there every week! The meat selections are delicious. My only issue were the sides, at first glance in on display they don't look appetizing or fresh. The taste is a lacking in flavor and again you don't get the freshness when you eat them . Potato salad taste like grocery store bought, the macaroni and cheese doesn't give you that comforting feeling and the beans Don't give you that barbecue taste flavor. Spring Creek in Richmond TX generally has great tasting good and ample portions. I tried baby back rubs for the first time from them and was terribly disappointed. Ribs are suppose to fall off the bone. Not this time by a long shot. Ribs were WAY over cooked and I'm glad I didn't crack a tooth trying to get to the meat. Let me first put out a disclaimer here...I am and will forever be loyal to Rudy's BBQ (in Austin, not Houston). Until I find another BBQ restaurant that has the same, extra moist and perfectly seasoned brisket, no one will trump Rudy's on my list. I ordered the peppered sausage & beef combo, with sides of mac n cheese and mustard potato salad. Now while the the sausage was uber-flavorful, the brisket to me was dry and just so-so. It needed the sweet BBQ sauce to make it a little more palatable. The sides were delicious, and tasted home-made, and I loved the bread basket lady that went around offering us fresh-just-baked loafs. I originally would've given this place 3 stars had it not been for the COBBLER STATION!!! I have never seen a fresh cobbler station in my life, and I was drooling as I passed it by. There they were, freshly baked, with tubs of ice cream waiting to be placed next to their gooey-goodness. Unfortunately, by the time I finished my platter, I had no room for dessert! Blargh! If you love BBQ, this place is for you. They have a great tasting BBQ sauce and their meat is tender. It's a fun experience from the beginning as they take your order and sing/yell your order down the serving line with peculiar phrases and codes. You serve yourself mostly on the sides. I've been past this place many many times on the way out of town. Well the other day I finally had a chance to actually stop in for some BBQ. This place is solid. I had the brisket, ribs, and sausage. All were decent. The sausage was my favorite. The sauce that comes with it is where it's at. Yeah I know good BBQ should be just good BBQ, but some places the sauce is what does it for me. Also the sides here are all you can eat. I had never experienced all you can eat sides and didn't really know what to do. But basically you just order, put some sides on your plate and if you want more just come back and they give you another plate to pile on the sides. I didn't really take advantage of it since I was pretty full from the BBQ but if you're a big time eater the sides can help supplement your meal. They also bring fresh bread to the tables. I came here with my brother's family given they live in Katy. They wanted to have BBQ for lunch and I was like, "Oh OK, Rudy's around the corner." But they wanted to go to Spring Creek Barbeque instead. I was a bit skeptical because I never been there before and Rudy's right across the highway. But the food definitely wins me over. They have lunch special but I got myself a loaded baked potato as meat and tater goes great together. One of the good thing about this place is that you get free sides (well it comes with the plate special) but the best part is that you serve the sides yourself. So you could get as little as one scoop or as big as making the corner plate overflow with the sides. Let's be honest here, I was hungry and I gave myself generous portion of the sides of green beans and slaw. The potato's size is decent and overall I feel like I definitely got my money's worth. But one of the surprise thing is the rolls. As some may have mentioned in the other reviews, the rolls are fresh and they actually have someone come out and hand you more rolls. Pepper sausage is ok and turkey had not flavor. The young man cut the meat and was weighing it. I guess they don't want to give you too much! For the money, this is not with it. The sides dishes have no flavor. I was almost done with my dinner by the time the young lady came by with rolls. The rolls were fresh but not much flavor. Lots of other better BBQ places around. I belong to an Alumni group and we meet here once a month as they have a private room that we use. I sometimes eat healthy as I did this time and had a salad with grilled chicken. It was huge and I could not actually eat it all? A lot of the other times I have their ribs and sausage plate with some of the sides. They are a chain restaurant and there isn't anything outstanding about their food but it is usually enjoyable to eat.One of the things they are known for is they serve non stop hot bread and free refills on your drinks. I have to first apologize to the guy who cut the meat. My wife and I must have somehow insulted his honor because of the way he treated us. We clearly said no sauce when he asked if we wanted any, but he poured sauce all over our meats anyway. We gently reminded him that we asked for no sauce and he gave us a look, scraped the meats off the plate and tossed it loudly into a bin below. Perhaps he felt offended that we asked for no sauce, or maybe we troubled him too much by choosing to dine there tonight.
