I'm kind of shocked i've barely heard about this place. They've been open since 2004. I'm glad I stopped in. The husband and wife team were extremely nice people. Very nice good old country folk. Food: the barbecue stuff baked potato was amazing. The name of the potato is quite unique. It's called the suicide baked potato. lol. It comes with brisket and sausage. The barbecue sauce was good. The brisket was tender. The sausage was good. I really enjoyed my meal. The potato salad was good. Maybe he had a little bit too much chain from the mustard, but it was still good. Not bad at all! I was in search of a tasty potato, and I came to the right place. The parking lot is a bit torn up, but thankfully there was room to park on the side of the road. The employees were super friendly, and the fact that everything is outdoors is nice. It felt good to sip on my sweet tea with the sun hitting my back. I've been searching for a long time............And my search is now over. Great BBQ. Great price for the portions received. Local. It's outdoors and you order at the counter. The owners are running it, and are very friendly. There's even a cat hanging out looking for some tasty scrap. Parking lot is small, but you can park on the road. Sit underneath the shade tree and crack open an ice cold Dr. Pepper while you wait. It's worth it. The locals know it too. It was 100 degrees that day, and the only people there were us and the locals picking up their lunch. We ordered the brown bag special which consisted of a chopped or sliced beef BBQ sandwich. Absolutely delicious. I haven't had a BBQ this good in years. We also ordered their meal for two for later. Sliced brisket, potato salad, and beans. In the spirit of old school BBQ, they give you good portions for your money. The potato salad is more mustard based. But their sauce....it's perfection. Not some silly "coffee" nonsense or "fushion" that so many of my millennial brothers and sisters seem to adore. No this sauce is pure Texas BBQ sauce. BBQ near (-ish) in the Houston area is VERY hit or miss. People, especially younger people, will talk about these amazing new BBQ places in the city only to arrive to some makeshift garage or food truck that sells craft beer and owners who fancy themselves as the next Franklin BBQ. They skin you alive for lackluster, dried out brisket, but it's presented on a metal plate and then they'll do the ole "spin around the iPad" move. Pops Pit BBQ is the antithesis of city BBQ. The fresh sliced brisket prepared right before your very eyes. I decided to stop and see for myself if this BBQ is any good. I do have to say don't judge the outside of the place for their food. I order the lunch special brisket sandwich, chips and soda. We got a family dinner for $45, Good deal. It comes with 1lb sausage, 1lb brisket and 1 whole chicken but unfortunately they where out so they subbed it for chopped beef. Also come with potato salad( has onions) beans and bbq sauce. Everything was great. The meat had a nice smoky flavor, very tender and hardly any fat. The sides where also very good. Do you ever see that one place, in a small town, that seems to just draw your attention every time you pass it? That is this place, if nothing else! I passed by this place several times and never really got a feel of their actual hours of operation. Lo and behold, one day I did go by and the place was open, and I had to stop. I opted to purchase the BBQ sausage sandwich and suicide spud. The skinny on my dishes: They did a great job at smoking their meat. Every bite flavor in it and was quite enjoyable. The potatoes are all good sized and with a nice amount of meat. The suicide spud is definitely tasty and worth getting. Overall, the BBQ sauce was not the greatest but decent enough to not make you put your sandwich, spud or whatever you choose to put it on, down for good. The sauce actually has a slightly bitter taste to it after the fact. All in all, you should enjoy this place. The pricing is decent and they have food items that makes you actually wonder if you should order it (i.e. suicide spud and heart attack sandwich). Portion size to price ratio is really good here. This was my first time ordering from this place. I read all the reviews and I figured I'd try for myself. I ordered the Stuffed Potato with chopped beef. Normally when eating at a BBQ place a Baked Potato is what I get. Honestly, it was ok the meat tasted like Fajita meat. The potato was a little hard and needed to be cooked a little longer also the potatoe had no flavor meaning they didn't even add salt on the outside of the potato so when baking or boiling the salt would make its way to the inside of the potato. The service was great very nice friendly. When placing my order they did tell me 4 people were ahead of me so I timed it and when I arrived my food was ready. This little gem is located in Brookshire Texas. Phenomenal barbecue especially the brisket. We got the brisket plate with Pinto beans and chopped beef sandwiches. Everything was excellent and this truly is a mom and pop place. Seating is limited to a covered area but we happened to be there at a good time to get a seat. This is a hole in the wall in the best possible way. I travel all over the country and I love these kind of places. The man that owns it is putting your order together. I went to Pop's Pitt BBQ this afternoon for lunch. It is your quintessential hole in the wall place. It looks like it was a small house at some stage, it has a kitchen and a small wrap around porch where the customers sit. It is walk up ordering like most BBQ places. As one of the reviewers said, the kitchen looked really clean, which is always good. I had the "Heart Attack Sandwich" which was a brisket and sausage sandwich. The kids ordered Sausage, but did not finish it so I tried that too. The brisket was really full of smoky flavour, most places just use the lean part for their sandwiches, but this was moist. The Sausage was good as well. It's not the best BBQ in Texas, but if you are in Brookshire, it is well worth a try. Next time I am there, I will get a Brisket Plate. read more

There's no lettuce or tomato to add to your sandwich. Some condiments are available outside as well as all of the seating. The taste of the sandwiches were good. I do not like fat in my meat at all and had some in there . I know a lot of people like that . The worst part of the whole experience is eating outside and combating the bugs.
