Food was awesome and the process of ordering to delivery was amazing. Since it was a delivery the ambiance was amazing at home.

I wanted to like this place because my husband had his heart set on trying it after seeing it featured on anTV show he watches. We even invited some family to go as well. Started off bad from the get go...... they were out of everything he wanted. They were out of Ribs, chicken and Ham. So after he decided on another plate they informed him they were out of Mashed Potatoes and Creamed Corn. Big NO NO for him for a restaurant to run out of food at any time. STRIKE ONE Then we got our drinks and sit down to wait on our food. Noticed right away that the brisket was cut the wrong way (IFYKYK ) which you know it will be tough. Mac & Cheese was a powdery taste in the sauce. STRIKE TWO. Our Sister's sandwich was made wrong and had to be sent back after the food had just been delivered and of course everybody else was already eating. STRIKE THREE came after the meal was over and we went to the Ladies Room and what do we see. A used toilet brush hanging on the hand rail in the handicapped bathroom where people would put their hands to get up. GROSS AND VERY UNSANITARY. Come on yall , do better !!!! This was our first and last time to visit there. Really great chicken to go. I love to prep it for lunch. I did have to add my special season to it.

Stopped in for lunch and tried the brisket, sausage and chopped beef with a side of pork rinds and beans. The brisket was okay but oddly enough I preferred the sausage. I liked the texture of the chopped beef but it was a little too sweet for me. The pork rinds were fried to perfection with a nice airy crunch. read more

Yesterday I bought two brisket loaded baked potatoes. They were the worst I have ever seen. They evidently were trying to get rid of over cooked meats, the meat was burnt which did nothing for the potatoes. on a scale of 1 to10, I give it a ZERO -0. we threw over half in the garbage. I will never go back and advise anyone I know to not waste their money. read more

When we ordered they were out of several items, we asked them to substitute other items but the cashier would not. The cashier was rude and clearly not trained in customer service. We got items we did not order and they wanted to charge us for them even though we asked them to take the items back. Great stop if passing through to pick something well made and mostly healthy, of course depending what items you choose. Also a great place to dine in while off the beaten path or just to get away from new Katy hustle and bustle. Great country feel here in old Katy near Katy high school. I had the brisket and turkey. Was in the mood for a bbq baked potato and decided to stop by Midway. I got a 2 meat potato with brisket and pulled pork. I asked for everything on it, but the meat kinda overpowered the other toppings. I would recommend getting an extra side of sour cream, cheese, and chives like I did. The potato came with a bbq sauce which I wasn't a fan of really, the bbq sauce smells and tastes like marinara sauce. The pulled pork and brisket were a good combo for the potato, both very tasty. My sister got the 2 meat plate with ribs and chicken. The chicken was good but a bit dry. The ribs were good as well as the mac and cheese and fries. Our favorite part of the meal was the homemade cheesecake! It was delicious, we loved the graham cracker crust. This is a pretty solid bbq joint here in Katy. Well I came in because I was really hungry. I ask for the two meat sandwich with lean brisket. They asked what I wanted for the second meat. I said brisket. They said well you cannot get two briskets. I asked can I get a larger brisket sandwich. They wouldn't let me. So i just got a 1/4 sandwich. As expected it's small. How people pay hard earned money at this place is beyond comprehension. The chicken was dry...the turkey had so much pepper on it - it was inedible... And the mac & cheese, which I think came from a can, wasn't even hot. When I asked for them to heat it up... They took it, completely forgot about it and brought it back to me about 12 minutes later. Barely warm. $26 for this!!? Tables weren't cleaned off. There was no lemon. They definitely put the MID in midland bbq. Just wasn't it. If you just need to eat something. But it doesn't compare to the Houston heavy hitter bbq spots. Food came out cold. Asked the cashier if they had burnt ends, she said yes. But ended up just brought me more of the same brisket cut that came in the combo. Food tasted like it was over cooked and cold. Sausage was hard and cold. Pulled pork didn't taste good at all, Just salty meat. The bbq sauce was vinegar heavy. They need more types. Maybe a sweet one. They used to be the best BBQ in Katy only second to one Chuckwagon on 1463. Now after the mysterious fire rebuild they are serving half the portions, no taste and you are not allowed to purchase different other than the menu. We went to a pumpkin patch with our little bit and we were hungry. Came across this BBQ restaurant and stopped. The menu was huge and in I mean, I would read it very well! I only wanted a quarter pound of thinly sliced turkey and a person creamed corn. The turkey was good, but not thinly sliced. The corn was delicious. Like home-cooked. This is an okay place. I went for my second time to meet a friend. I had a brisket sandwich, fries, drink, and cherry cobbler. The food was generally good, but nothing really stood out. The brisket was well cooked (like all brisket in Texas), sides were fine, and the cobbler was average. The house BBQ sauce was average. But nothing really making me want to return. This is probably someones favorite place to eat. I suspect families have been going here for a long time. It's that kind of local eats that develops a following. It was clean, the people were friendly, the food was okay, 3 stars. One thing I didn't like. At restaurants where I stand in line, read a menu on a wall, give an order and pay, then get my own drink, why do they ask for a tip? At sit down restaurants, I am a generous tipper. So I went to get a brisket frito pie, trying something new but had to order to go because of I was on lunch. Box of Fritos, sour cream,, little container of meat, chives, grated cheddar, bbq meat and charro beans. Lol what do I do with the charro beans? Figured some melted nacho cheese was in the bag. But nothing. So freaking dry. Also ordered a moist sliced brisket sandwich, wasn't moist, that brisket had been reheated a few times, dry af, bark on it was sticky to where the meat was stuck on your fingers and all the fat was rendered all the way off the meat. Since Cooper's BBQ in Katy is now permanently closed, I am in search of another place with an awesome baked potato. Midway was my first attempt, and it wasn't awful. The thing I like about Coopers is that they give all of the components to put on the potato rather than giving you the potato with everything already on top. While Midway's potato had everything I liked, it was the wrong portion and didn't taste all that great. Ordering was a bit confusing as well. Upon walking in, I walked up to the register and waited for a few minutes before asking someone if I was at the wrong place to order. She said no and then scrambled to find someone to take it. It was clear the gentleman taking my order did not know what he was doing, but that's ok - we worked through it together. I looked on their website it looks like they've been here for a very long time. I don't spend much time in Katy but I'm very happy that I found this place. Midway barbecue was doing it right. Food: I really enjoyed the brisket here! The brisket is full of flavor, very tender, and cooked to perfection. I really really really enjoyed it. I think this is one of the go to meats here for sure. The sausage was pretty decent too. I think next time I must try the ribs. Their sides were good as well. I got mac & cheese and it was very tasty. Also this is the first time I've ever gotten fresh fried pork skins brought to the table. Let me tell you that's one of the best sides I've ever had at the barbecue restaurant. Fresh fried pork skins. They are so flavorful and very tasty. I highly suggest you try these out.I've been to lots of restaurants all over the US in Texas, outside the US. It's very rare that you find a restaurant or does fresh fried pork skins. That just blew my mind. Customer service, everyone is extremely nice to work here. So my friend said this was his favorite bbq place in Katy...so off I went! Parked and walked in and was apprehensive as there wasn't much people and the food being cut on the line looked dry... But onto the food... I ordered the chicken fried ribeye (amazing) with potato salad (skip this), and mac and cheese (good for basic). This was the best chicken fried steak I've had in awhile! Wow! I'd go back just for this! Must try! 10/10 My wife had the cob salad with smoked turkey (dry). The salad had some pieces of lettuce with brown edges, and overall wasn't the freshest. The smoked turkey was crazy dry. Wouldn't order this again... 2/10 Just because my son wasn't hungry I ordered a little bit of everything just to make sure we were good! Lol! So got a 1/2lb if moist brisket (must get!), 1/2lb of smoked sausage (must get!), a pint of dirty rice (son loved this), and a pint of mac and cheese (he loved this as well!)... I would have used the online order feature but I couldn't find their BBQ chicken plate. Do not bother trying to call them to order. I waited on hold for 20 minutes after a 2 second interaction. My patience threshold was reached so I hung up. But I had a pregnant wife who wanted bbq chicken so I called back. Someone else answered immediately and was ready to take my order. I asked about the chicken and was told there was no more chicken. If this place doesn't value my time enough to pick up the phone from hold to tell me there is no chicken then I'll go elsewhere. I had a good friend who told me about Midway. She raved about how great the meat was. So, I tried it. Note to self, never again take the word of my friend about restaurants. Midway was one of the greatest disappointments I've had this year. The ribs were very dry and tasteless. The restaurant had signs up claiming to be the smokehouse. Well, there was NO smoke on the meat at all! The chicken looked like it was baked in an oven with no seasons and yes no smoke. The best thing I ate at this restaurant was the potato salad. It was good. The only other thing that was good about the restaurant was that the people were very friendly. The restaurant was clean too. Place was pretty crowded on a Saturday afternoon. Ordered two chopped beef sandwiches to go with bbq beans, sweet potato fries, and fried okra. Also brought home some sausage for later in the day. I do like the bbq sauce, and both meats, and would go back if in the area. But wasn't a fan of any of the sides. The sandwich seemed to more bun that meat unfortunately. I'm gluten free and was really excited to try this place as they even have a gluten free menu posted online. Unfortantely, I wasn't able to try many menu items as they placed BREAD on top of the meat, in multiple boxes of my food. I specifically ordered online and did not select to include any bread. Went for a local music recital and got to enjoy some good bbq, was much better than expected. Got the 2 meat with sausage and fatty brisket. Got fried okra and sweet potatoe fries as sides. The food is by far great barbecue. How the food is served is a problem. Too much styrofoam. If you're eating in, I would like to able to have a plate, and utensils. Having my sides in little styrofoam containers thrown into an even larger styrofoam container on top of my barbecue makes it so much less desirable. You order yourself and a server brings it to your table in large styrofoam containers that contain everything you have for each order. You clean your own table. It's cafeteria style. But I do love the lodge look. All of the great manly trophies of Moose, Deer and all the other taxidermies of many a successful hunting trip. read more
