The appetizers disappeared SO fast, and somehow one of our groomsmen ended up with about 10 of the pulled pork potato bites and announced that he would not be sharing. Everything was absolutely delicious, and Daniel and his team did such an amazing job bringing our vision to life. I would without a doubt recommend Heirloom Catering for any event, and I will definitely be hiring Daniel again for our next one!

Daniel was very patient and thorough in brainstorming, discussing, and building a custom menu that truly felt like us. We opted to do action stations for the wedding, and it was a hit! We actually had several communications before the event, to fine tune the menu and outline the progression of the evening. Chef Will was very punctual and came in ready to get started. At our request, he made himself at home in our kitchen. He used some of our cookware, kitchen utensils and our grill, and he was very respectful of our home/property. I had the pleasure of visiting with him while he prepared the dinner. Such a delightful guy, and very impressive with his love of quality food and just the Houston food scene in general. The evening was about 2 hours once we started eating. The food was awesome. The food was very flavorful and the presentation was top notch. As we ate, he continued with the preparation/plating of the next dish on the menu and cleaned-up as he went. When he left, other than some plated leftovers, there was no evidence he had been here. He even took out the trash! What a great guy, and a great treat for us and our guests! I enjoyed this evening so much. I hope to attend some of his cooking classes as well. Due to COVID-19 I was unable to proceed (AirBNB owner cancelled then I was unable to secure another location). I told Chef Will as soon as I found out to cancel but he never refunded me. He said: "How do you suggest that I recoup the money I would have made from the other people I turned away for the date you placed a deposit on? You cancelled. You could've accepted a delivery on the date you requested and either improvised or eaten it later." - I told him he didn't give me any options such as delivery and never responded to my emails until much later on. He then tells me "I spent the last 2-3 days trying to book your cancellation with a couple of people I had turned away due to your booking. I had no luck." - Because you can't find any additional clients you won't refund me. Great business model. "As a professional courtesy I can offer you a discount on a future booking or a 25% refund. " - Thank you so much, I spend $250 on absolutely nothing and I get 25% off next time I want to throw my money away? To sum it up: Chef Will stole $250 from me and was unprofessional. He was slow to respond to emails and never mentioned that the deposit was non-refundable. I would STRONGLY not recommend him, I would give 0 stars if it was an option

From start to finish, our experience with Keifs Catering was amazing!…read more The team provided us with a 3 course in home private dinner for 9 people. I had a little trouble deciphering how the menu worked online, but after a quick phone call I was all set. After a simple booking process, the hardest thing for me was to let go and trust. I'd communicated my vision for a valentines themed dinner party and the need to cater for a seafood allergy. The team showed up right on time. They were courteous and efficient in setting everything up. The table decor was perfect for our occasion. The food was absolutely delicious! The portions were generous. All courses came out at the right time/pace/temperature. Leftovers were boxed up for us with a personal touch. The crew was attentive and accommodating. They cleaned the kitchen while we relaxed and reflected on how amazing our dinner was. Definitely 5 stars!!

3.5 stars, rounded down for cost to value ratio…read more I consulted with Keifs Catering initially off of Thumbtack. The staff were quite responsive, and I was trying to set up a special night with my partner for our anniversary. I had heard from a few friends setting up a dinner with a private chef could be a pretty special experience, albeit pricey. The Yelp reviews and Google reviews, alongside Keifs Catering's incredibly vegan and vegetarian friendly menu options, had me enthusiastic. Along the way, I asked for input on menu options, as well as asked about the number of options I was setting for the menu; my partner and I have small stomachs, and I was worried about too many leftovers. I was reassured that any leftovers could be eaten over the following few days. As my partner is the foodie, I was making these decisions myself and I trusted the staff I was consulting with. The coordination was seamless, as was the online payment system. The staff arrived on time (2 individuals). The table was set partially by staff (partially by me to ensure it was truly special ambiance) and looked quite nice. The staff were incredibly friendly throughout the night. I had assumed the items were all assembled from scratch, but was surprised that when I asked about the vegan taco appetizer ingredients, another staff member had to be contacted to find out their composition. From the taco appetizer (3.5/5), I was immediately certain I had ordered too much food. We warned the staff and asked they pack away food as we knew it was going to be too much. Unfortunately, the spare taco shells were presumably thrown away instead of preserved and the vegan taco crumble we had to eat on its own over the following few days. The garlic fries were delicious (5/5), and for some reason, in a similar manner, the leftover vegan chipotle was thrown away instead of preserved and packed for later consumption. The watermelon mint salad could have tasted more fresh and crisp, but was fairly good (3/5). The entrees were amazing, though unfortunately due to the immense amount of food ordered, was only partially enjoyable. The tofu satay skewers I could have eaten for days (and I did, 5/5), and the vibrant coconut green curry was quite tasty and worked well with the skewers (4/5). The gorgonzola mac and cheese could have been its own appetizer and was quite tasty (4.5/5) but again, I wish I had received better advice from the staff when I set the menu. I have a bit of a sweet tooth l, so was particularly excited about the desserts, though both of these (creme brulee was a little soft, and I'd have loved more crumble in the cobbler) left a little bit to be desired (3/5). This was a really special first experience with a service like this, and I am so glad we tried it out, though I wish I had received a little bit better guidance from staff throughout, and wished the items had all been packed for leftover eating as expected. The price point for all of this was fair, but for these issues that would generally be minor, I really would expect no issues whatsoever for the price point. I think this would be an amazing option for catering for a larger group!

Overall, I would recommend…read moreAstral Catering for the variety and quality of their food and for the help that they provided in setting up the reception site in a short time (three hours). More detailed reviews about the food and service are below. FOOD: From the start, my husband and I were impressed with the variety of food options offered by Astral Catering, and the chef was enthusiastic to work with us and even provide food that was not their menu. For our reception, we had three different passed appetizers plus three different food stations (hamburger, buffalo chicken, and black bean sliders; macaroni and cheese with mix-ins of your choice; and shrimp cocktail plus grilled vegetables). My husband and I thought everything was delicious and loved that it wasn't just your typical wedding food. SERVICE: After we had given our first check to Astral Catering, we had some communication issues, due in part to the employee initially assigned to our account leaving the company, but they were professional in resolving the miscommunications. Astral Catering even helped us to set up the reception in a short time, since our venue was not available until 3 hours before the event started (so we were not available to set up our candy bar, guest book table, etc. ourselves and since we did not have a wedding planner). During the reception, they also delivered food and drinks directly to our table, so we were actually able to eat at our own wedding, which many of our married friends warned us we might not get to do. TIP: Make sure to bring your checkbook to pay, as there is an extra fee if paying using a credit card.
