I found the restaurant on social media and was instantly excited about the menu offerings. I made a reservation on the easy to use and convenient app. I arrived on time and was immediately pulled from the line and seated. I ordered the $20 bottomless mimosas, Lemon Ricotta Pancakes with Fried Chicken, and because I'm indecisive and they were offered a la cart, I ordered a side of Catfish and a side of greens. My friend decided on the chicken and waffles. The food came out in an acceptable amount of time and piping hot. We did have to ask for our beverages and they were quickly brought out. The pancakes were fluffy and delicious, bursting with flavor from the multiple ingredients. I asked for butter but ultimately didn't need it because they were delicious with just a hint of syrup because they were already sweet. They came with 4 chicken wings (flats) which I appreciated because I don't like when the chicken is strips. The chicken wings were seasoned and fried to perfection, as were the catfish strips. Just the right amount of batter and seasoning to be crunchy but still flaky and melt in your mouth delicious. The greens were to die for!!! Cooked perfectly and seasoned to perfection. I added a few dashes of hot sauce and they hit the spot. It reminded me of my childhood and I longed for some good cornbread to sop up the remaining pot liquor . But I digress lol. The restaurant was located in a convenient and easy to find location with plenty of parking. Clean tables and facility. I observed the staff washing their hands multiple times throughout the visit. Overall, everything was excellent and I'll definitely be returning to try other menu offerings. A few things to note: Definitely make a reservation. They do not split checks. Man this place is so good! I have always seen it but had never been able to get around to it. I finally was able to try it out last month and the food did not disappoint! I came for Sunday brunch, I came back again to try their oysters and then came a third time with my cousin for their fried pork chops. Baybehh when I tell you everything that I've put in my mouth at this establishment has been phenomenal! For Sunday brunch, we ordered the catfish and grits, oxtails, Now while the food is amazing, I have to be honest the service is not up to par. I've been here three times in the span of a month and the service is extremely slow. They appear to be short staffed most of the times which can be frustrating for customers. Only thing I didn't like was you can't substitute or pick your sides, have to get as they're listed on the menu. I guess it's a good thing I like Oxtails with greens, red beans & rice, and cornbread. Went there for Mother's Day Brunch and it was outstanding ! The friendly staff as soon as we entered were amazing! They were so warm and welcoming! The food was by far some of the tastiest I've ever had!!! I had fried catfish and the breakfast potatoes. It was absolutely delicious!!! There was live music and each mom was given a lovely gift (a beautiful hand fan). This has been one of the best meals I've had in a very long time. My girlfriends and I came here for a girl's brunch. I had seen some reviews on IG and I love trying new places. The food was very flavorful and priced appropriately. My favorite items were the fried fish and shrimp fondue. While there were some combo entrees not paired together, they had a la carte items avail. There was an in house saxophonist and he did an amazing job. The service was slow and they were understaffed. They also have a two hour time limit. This is the best Sunday Brunch spot! We got there at a perfect time (11:30 a.m.), right before the crowd rolled in and I'm so glad we did. The food was made to order, fresh, and absolutely fantastic. We ordered the lobster oysters, Caesar salad, sea bass with shrimp, and the loaded potatoes; everything was cooked perfectly. For drinks, we went with the Blueberry Lemon Drop and the Honey Deuce, both of which were delicious. Stopped by CuVees for Saturday brunch after an event at a nearby church. Someone else made the reservation (which I recommend doing because it's an intimate restaurant with good food). A bit of housekeeping: located in a center with lots of options for parking. The restaurant is cashless with the exception of tipping your server. Cuvées has a wonderful brunch menu with options that offer unlimited servings (at the time of this review). They also offer mimosas and cocktails. Several of us ordered a carafe of mimosas. As an appetizer we tried the chargrilled oysters--they were delicious! I tried the Chilean sea bass with Mac and cheese and brussel sprouts. A Caesar salad preceded the main course. Everything was seasoned. The sea bass was decadent and rich topped with shrimp and butter. Everyone enjoyed their food! I'd definitely return and come hungry. Our server was Marsha and she was wonderful. The chef and owner stopped by our table and he was kind and gave us the great food recommendations. This is a small black-owned business in Houston. I would suggest you make a reservation as the wait can be long! The food is really good and the staff is nice! We have been there twice, and they have been pretty busy both times so there was a wait but the food was worth it. The lemon pancakes are great as well! Jackson lost his battle to lymphoma on October 11, 2024, at 11:30 p.m. This is why it has taken me some time to review my experience with CuVee's and Chef Ivory. As a Yelp Elite Gold Member and attorney, I take feedback seriously. I aim to be fair, honest, and accurate in recounting what transpired. For my 40th birthday, I planned a large celebration with a live wrestling show at my home on October 12. I invited 50 friends and family from across the country to mark this milestone. I requested quotes from local caterers on Yelp, and CuVee's responded on September 4, asking me to come to the restaurant for a consultation. I was simply seeking catering options and pricing, but Chef Ivory insisted we meet in person. I scheduled a consultation for September 5 at 1 p.m., despite the two-hour round-trip drive from my home in Champions. When I arrived at the locked restaurant at 12:55 p.m., I called the number on the building. No answer. I left a voicemail, sent a message through Yelp, and eventually found another contact number online. Chef Ivory finally answered and directed me to a side door. This lack of preparation was frustrating and should have been my first warning, as it was the first of many such instances leading up to the week of the party. During the meeting, Chef Ivory sketched ideas on a notepad and assured me he had a large, capable team to deliver an amazing experience. His pitch included two action stations--pasta cooked to order and Philly cheesesteaks featuring authentic Philly buns--during the wrestling show, followed by a dinner buffet with fried catfish, wings, mac and cheese, greens, cornbread, and funnel cakes for dessert. Excited by the menu, I wanted to sample the food. Chef Ivory invited me to brunch, advising me to come early at 10 a.m. before it got busy. He promised to arrange a reservation for me and friends, asking me to text his personal number. That afternoon, I texted him as instructed, but received no response. After following up on Yelp, he finally confirmed a reservation for September 14. I attended the brunch with two friends, including one who is a well-traveled foodie. We ordered fried catfish, wings, red beans and rice, greens, mac and cheese, mimosas, and oysters. The fried catfish and tartar sauce were outstanding, and the mimosas and oysters also stood out. The greens, beans, and cornbread were average, while the mac and cheese was solid. Overall, we enjoyed the meal and spent about $250. Chef Ivory checked in on us a few times, and I reminded him I still hadn't received the catering estimate. He apologized, citing a last-minute Prairie View event for 800 people. Despite multiple excuses, I finally received the estimate on September 18 after persistent follow-ups. I immediately confirmed CuVee's for my party and ordered custom Philly rolls from a friend in Philadelphia for the cheesesteak station. Chef Ivory emailed confirmation the same day, stating my event was on the calendar. Based on this, I finalized other party details while caring for Jackson, whose health was rapidly declining. The week of the party arrived with no updates from CuVee's. Concerned, I emailed on October 9 about logistics. His response was devastating: "Justin, when I didn't hear from you, I thought you went in another direction. This late of date staffing is almost impossible. If you can possibly move your time back, I may be able to work something out. Or maybe even drop food off. My apologies for the confusion. Hope things work out." I was shocked. He had confirmed my event weeks earlier. His failure to follow through left me scrambling for catering just two days before my party. I rushed to various businesses, trying to piece together a menu while spending less time with Jackson, who passed away the night before the party. The stress and heartbreak of losing my beloved dog were compounded by this unnecessary chaos. Ultimately, CuVee's sold me a dream for my milestone birthday and failed to deliver. Chef Ivory's poor communication, repeated excuses, and apparent prioritization of higher-paying gigs caused immense stress and disappointment. It was really tasty. My friend had oxtails and my other friend had fried pork chops. Everything was really good. They had a DJ, but it wasn't too loud. It was just the right level of music. But the food came out all over the place. The wings weren't cooked all the way and the fish and grits took almost 45 minutes to come out. Everyone else had their food and ate but two of us only received our side of potatoes no fish and grits, which shouldn't take any time to make. Foodies, Skip CuVée's Culinary - Not Worth the Hype or the Hassle If you're looking for great service and a well-organized brunch spot, this isn't it. My family and I were excited to try CuVée's Culinary on Eldridge and Westheimer for Sunday brunch, but what we got was a mess of disorganization, poor customer service, and blatant dishonesty. The Red Flags Started Early... We made a 1:45 PM reservation but finished church early, so we called around 12:30 PM to see if we could be seated sooner. The staff member told us: "We only take reservations on weekends, and we're fully booked." "We can't seat you any earlier, but we'll have your table ready at your reservation time." So, we showed up at 1:37 PM, checked in, and were told: "We're really busy, but we'll text you when we're ready." Okay, no problem we understand that brunch can get hectic. But then we started noticing some major inconsistencies... The Biggest Issue? Lying & Lack of Organization As we waited, we watched three different parties (who all arrived AFTER us) get seated BEFORE us: Two were walk-ins (no reservations at all) One was a party of eight (and not even their whole group had arrived yet!) Meanwhile, we who had a confirmed reservation were still waiting. Then, the chef or owner came out to address the waiting guests, asking: ‍ "Who here has a reservation?" We raised our hands, along with one other group. The two other parties? They were walk-ins. At this point, the chef assured us they were working on getting us seated and mentioned that some guests had "overstayed their welcome." Another Huge Red Flag: False Promises We told the chef we'd be fine with a booth, and he agreed even confirming we'd be seated there. But guess what? Moments later, we watched a walk-in party get seated in that exact booth. At this point, we were completely over it. The lack of organization, miscommunication, and blatant disrespect for paying customers was unreal. The Hostess Straight-Up Lied When I asked the hostess why we weren't seated yet, she hit me with: "Reservations are recommended but not guaranteed." BUT WAIT. There's a huge sign on their door that literally says: "Reservations on Weekends Only" So which is it? Because if reservations aren't guaranteed, then why advertise them on Yelp, OpenTable, and your own front door? And how is it that walk-ins were getting seated before us, despite us arriving first? At this point, no apology, no accountability just excuses and contradictions. The Final Straw: We Left We had already waited over an hour, and it became very clear we were never going to be seated. So, we left frustrated, disappointed, and completely unimpressed. As a business owner myself, I understand that things don't always run smoothly, but lying to customers and mishandling reservations is unacceptable. Food? What Food? Beyond the terrible service, another red flag: We never smelled food cooking The dishes coming out didn't look like the mouthwatering photos online If you're drawn to CuVée's Culinary because of its social media hype, you might want to think twice. The food might look great in photos, but the real-life experience is anything but. Just Don't Go! It's not worth the hassle, unprofessionalism, or the lies. Nothing is worse than a restaurant that deceives its customers and lacks basic organization. The chef told us one thing, the hostess told us another, and ultimately, we were ignored. If you value good service, honesty, and actually getting seated when you have a reservation, this is not the place. Plenty of amazing brunch spots in Houston actually respect their customers.
