Y'all know I love BBQ, been hearing about this place for a while, and finally got the chance to swing by yesterday. As soon as you open the door that great smell of brisket hits you like only BBQ lovers know how it hits. They have all your favorites, brisket (OMG), ribs, sausages (I recommend their Jalapeño cheese), turkey, chopped beef sandwich, and all your typical sides. Man it was GOOOOOOODDDD!!!! They're also a butcher shop, and they process meats. When in Fulshear, if you don't want to be disappointed and want great food, swing by, their friendly staff will take care of you and their food will satisfy your hunger. I had a 2 meat plate with jalapeño sausage and ribs. Sides green beans and collard greens. $25 2 sodas. The sausage was mushy and not spicy. It had cheese on it. Collard greens was oddly too sweet. It truly pains me to write this one. I'm not a resident of Fulshear, but have around it a long time. I remember the days going to The Round Up for some rodeoing to playing golf at Valley Lodge. So when I saw that Dozier's was opening back up and under the guidance of its new owners, I was excited. I knew what they had done in Rosenberg to 2M's. I was taking my mom to lunch today and she wanted to go to Buc-ees for a chopped beef sandwich. I suggested we try Dozier's as I had not been there since they roast yr. So off we go.when I got there I thought it odd that at noon on a work day that there were only two people sitting and eating. But whatever. My mom wanted that chopped beef sandwich and she asked that they slice brisket for it as she didn't want all the scrap pieces making up her sandwich. The guy looked confused and pulled at a pile of already chopped beef and she asked for him to chop up brisket, not use the pre-chopped. He said that he would have to charge extra for doing that - that confirmed to me they were using the left overs for the chopped. She said ok to use the chopped. She got her sandwich. I ordered a baked potato with jalapeño cheddar sausage. He handed me tray and off we go to pay - no sides. Now the potato n sausage was $15.00 so I found it odd that when I paid, they weighed the meat. I asked why he was weighing the meat and he said, to make sure the amount was right. Again odd. I went and doctored my tater up and mom got some items to add to her sandwich. So off we go to grab a chair and dig in. We started eating and as I looked over the receipt, two things caught my eye. 1 - there were two lines for the stuffed tater, one for the tater and one for the meat - hence why he was weighing it. I came out lucky as it was a little less than on menu. 2 - the sub total and tax did not add up total so I asked the girl at the register why they didn't add up and she said because I used a debit card. I asked why they did not say something before and she said there was a sign at the register. I saw it after she moved some items sitting on it. It's a 4% charge but the way. I thought it wasn't worth it to argue. So back I go to finish lunch. So on to the food....right. The sausage was not jalapeño cheddar, but regular. But since it was already on the tater and now covered in bbq sauce, I thought oh well. By now my attitude is changing about this experience so what follows could be influenced by what so far has happened. The sausage lacked good smokehouse flavor. The BBQ sauce was thin and lacked flavor. The potato was perfect. And so were the pickles. My mom commented that hers lacked flavor as well and needed more sauce to help it out. My wife and I have ate here a couple times. The staff is always friendly and super helpful. The bbq is pretty good. The brisket is tender and moist with, a nice crust. I asked for some end pieces and they were great. My wife had the baked potato with brisket. I had several bites and it was good not over loaded with bbq sauce. Delicious!!! We ordered the family pack for 10 to take home and it was awesome. If that's how it always is then this is my favorite bbq in the area now. The moist brisket was perfect and had an amazing bark. Even the lean one was the most tender I've ever had. Sausage was great as well. The sides are special. Loved the Mac and cheese with swirly noodles. The potato salad was my favorite. Also enjoyed the Texas caviar very much. We were very impressed. Sadly they forgot to pack the bbq sauce so I can't wait to go back and try that. The place was a bit busy when my dad picked up and they forgot the bread but he noticed that. I was really looking forward to trying Dozier's out again since they opened back up. I'm really disappointed to say my visit wasn't good. The workers weren't friendly or welcoming, except the guy who chopped the brisket up and the vibe inside was just off. Then, the food was just okay, nothing special. For what I paid, I was hoping it was going to be great. On top of it all, I bought an EXPIRED - since December 2024 - it's now February 2025 - bag of salt & vinegar chips. I tried calling them to let them know about the bag of chips and there number is not connected. Update -- talked to Tyler the owner via instagram and he let me know they're going through the chips to pull the expired ones. He also said they're working on the phone issue. In the future I may give Doziers another shot and do appreciate Tyler's customer service. read more

My last trip I asked for a quart of the prepared chopped beef, and they weighed it as brisket. $75 she said, and I was shocked. And then the checkout process asked for a tip (for carryout?). This is a brisket and sausage take-out review only. Over the Thaksgiving holiday, our host had pre-ordered an 11 lb. smoked brisket and some sausages to grill at home. The bark on the brisket was perfect. It was so tender we could hardly slice it. Delicious!!!!! The sausages grilled up (at home) nicely. Their signature sauce is totally different and I'm not sure I would call it BBQ sauce. It's very chili powder-vinegar based. I liked it for a change. Some in the fam did not care for it. First things first, the drive out to dinner was a whole ordeal. The 10 was closed so we ended up stuck in horrendous traffic on the toll just trying to get there. And leaving wasn't any better. At one point we were just laughing because what else can you do when you're crawling along at 5 miles an hour for brisket. But honestly, even with the traffic jam headache, it was worth it. We had an early dinner here last night after hearing a bunch of people say this was the spot for BBQ. Right when we walked in, we could tell it was our kind of place. Friendly staff, clean, and just a relaxed, no-stress vibe. Everyone seemed happy to be there which is always a good sign. We ordered the brisket with green beans and potato salad. The brisket was exactly what we hoped for. Juicy, smoky, tender with a few perfect little burnt ends that basically melted when you bit into them. No dry pieces hiding underneath either, just solid, flavorful brisket all the way through. The green beans were really good too, nice and fresh with a little seasoning but not drowned in anything heavy. But the potato salad was the real star. Creamy, just the right amount of tang, and not overloaded with mayo. It was honestly some of the best potato salad we've had anywhere. They are super generous with their portions too. We ended up taking about three-quarters of the potato salad home because there was just no way to finish it all in one sitting. Between the food and the people running the place, it felt like one of those meals you're going to remember for a while. Even if the traffic tried to test our patience, we'd do it again for that brisket and potato salad. Already planning our next trip, maybe this time checking the road closures first. read more

Dozier's is back in business! I heard one of the founder's grandsons bought it back from the guy who bought it after the twin sons retired. I couldn't wait to go back there. The last guy really screwed things up. Anywho, the meal I ordered: Beef garlic sausage - perfection! Pork ribs - not good.... The meat was tough, old, dry, and discolored. It had some green spots. I shouldn't have eaten it, but I was starving. Also, the silver skin was left on. That is some amateur hour bull crap. Mac 'n cheese - excellent. Beans - excellent. Sauce - excellent. The store is gone. No more beer or cheese or anything else. They have a soda fountain with only Boots sodas. They are quite good. Of course, they have iced tea and sweet iced tea. They still have a butcher area where they sell sausages (get some!). There is still a separate building where they process wild game. The sausage is 5 stars. Those pork ribs were 1 stars. Average score = 3. To the owner (if you're reading this), you are on the cusp of achieving greatness. Don't give up. Dozier's is so close to being in the conversation of all time greats. Fix and fine tune some things. Keep going. You guys are awesome. read more

I've been eating at Dozier's since I was a toddler (~60 years). It's my gold standard for Texas BBQ. When we travel to our hunting lease, or country house, in the Texas Hill Country, I often choose a "back roads route" that conveniently passes through Fulshear, so I have an excuse to stop at Dozier's. My personal favorites are the brisket, chopped beef sandwich, and ranch style beans. My son prefers the loaded baked potato with brisket. It's counter service, but never had an unpleasant experience. The interior is fairly small, and still has a minimalist convenience store at the front. I was shocked, and heartbroken, when it closed, and ecstatic when it reopened. Dozier's has also been my "go to" for deer processing, for decades, and I've usually been happy with the results. read more

If you want to know how ribs are supposed to be if you are going to be a judge at an IBCA sanctioned BBQ cook-off, go try these ribs. Tender, juicy and do not fall off of the bone. Great bark and full of flavor. The rough cut Collard greens were like the ones I had as a kid and tasted awesome. Sliced brisket was nice and tender, moist and flavorful. Good bark and sliced thin, not the big chunks that pull out of the sandwich when you take a bite. Mac & cheese was very cheesy (in a good way) and what they call cheese and potatoes ( more like twice baked potatoes) was really good too. Good BBQ doesn't need sauce and this is good "Q". But I tried the sauce and it was good. This is not that sweet sauce with a bunch of brown sugar nor is it the vinegar forward type that makes you wish you had just stuck to the BBQ. Not disappointed at all. Staff is friendly and they have added an outdoor seating area on the side of the building. Fulshire has grown a lot since the last time I was there and Yepl wasn't around either. Glad to see that this place is still in operation. Give them a try, and enjoy the ride. read more

That absolutely wasn't my reason for my complaint and obviously the picture isn't showing a true story of what was received. Obviously fat gives the flavor and while some fat is totally acceptable but all 2 lbs of pieces that had more fat than ACTUAL meat to enjoy is definitely not worth it. No place I've ever seen to has made me have to request for lean cut and I shouldn't have to, I should receive pieces with the proper fat portion on the meat so it tasty NOT mostly FAT is what I was referring to. read more

I tried Dozier's for the first time when we got our Thanksgiving smoked turkey breast this year. The place was nice and clean, and very efficient. There were diners, shoppers and people picking up Thanksgiving orders all at the same time when I was there. I was on and out in 5 minutes. The smoked Turkey was outstanding - moist and tender with a delicious smoked flavor. The vacuum-packed turkey was very easy to store and prepare. All of our guests raved about how good it was. I will definitely be back to dine in and bring something home from the market. I only gave four stars because I haven't tried the restaurant yet. read more

I had heard about this place and I'm glad that I was able to go out to Fulshear and give it a try. It was some pretty solid barbecue, and the loaded baked potato salad was delicious. If in the area, definitely give it a go. I had a half pound of brisket, two ribs, and an individual side which ended up costing about $25. I probably could have done with a little bit less food. My bad I guess for not knowing how much to order, but that's why I prefer places that just offer a "plate" style rather than selling by weight. It would also be nice if they offered fountain drinks be it soda or water rather than cans/bottled beverages. The place is pretty neat. It's both a barbecue joint and a general store. But I don't know how much shopping happens here by non tourists. There is also some cool history on the walls. The recently added outdoor space with a cool "Fulshear" text mural that I probably should have taken a picture of is nice, but it was way too hot to spend any time out there. read more

The food options are plentiful. Sausage, brisket, pork ribs, etc. Today tried several options. Brisket was moist and tender. Great smoke ring. Nice bark. Pork Ribs::: Tons of smoke. Great bark. Turkey:: Oddly enough probably the best part. Well seasoned. Super tender and moist. Probably my favorite option. Broccoli slaw: Very good. Crisp and refreshing. However I could only have it sparingly due to its sweetness. Not bad in anyway but takes time to get it finished. Mac and cheese:: Super thick and cheesy. Seasoned with something I couldn't put my finger on. Finally the Banana pudding:: It's pudding. It's banana. How could it NOT be super tasty. The ordering process is weird. It's like backwards. The deserts are presented first. Then cold sides. Then hot sides. Then the meats.... Prices are a touch above the average. The inside is really really nice. Lots of seating area.
