    1/3lb of brisket.
    Robert B.

Really nice spot on the inside. Service was friendly and prompt. 1/3lb of brisket is $13. Which is a bit much comparatively. Overall the brisket is okay. Little overdone for my taste. But the presentation is appealing.

Brett's Bbq shop was a mixed Experience at a Recognized BBQ joint. We visited a Texas Monthly Top 100 BBQ award winner, a spot that previously held a Top 50 ranking. The restaurant itself was quite inviting, with a clean and well-maintained indoor seating area and a convenient beer and cocktail bar right next door. The lean brisket had a solid salt and pepper bark with good flavor, but I found the meat itself to be a little chewy. The ribs were a bit inconsistent; some parts were flavorful, while others were a bit mushy and salty. The texture was uneven throughout. The sausage was a house-made, peppery link with a tight casing. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't my favorite offering. On a more positive note, the sides were a definite highlight. The corn casserole was very good, with a nice balance between the corn and the breading. The cilantro coleslaw was a refreshing change, a light vinegar slaw with a great cilantro spice. It was packed with fresh carrots, red peppers, and onions, making it a delicious and flavorful side. Overall, while there were some inconsistencies with the meat, the inviting atmosphere and excellent sides made for a decent experience.

Still the best food in Texas bbq. The service is good the atmosphere is so cool. Family place and great food. It is worth what you pay for because you get more than enough. Love this place.

We were invited by my son's school friends and had a great time! The atmosphere was comfortable and laidback, making it a great spot to enjoy a new meal. We were pleasantly surprised by how flavorful everything was - most definitely exceeded our expectations! The customer service was also excellent, which added to the overall great experience. This spot has earned continuous visits from us. Looking forward to coming back!

Good bbq. Would definitely recommend this place. I hope next time they have baked potatoes.

Today's Limited Special - McRiblet Sammich

McRiblet Sammich at Brett's BQ Shop - Worth the Hype! I was lucky enough to grab one of the limited 50 McRiblet Sammiches at Brett's BQ Shop today, and let me tell you--it did not disappoint! The bread was soft and fresh, holding up perfectly to the generous portion of tender, juicy ribs. Every bite was packed with smoky, flavorful meat, slathered in their delicious BBQ sauce, with just the right amount of tang from the pickles and crunch from the onions. As if that wasn't enough, it came with a choice of fried okra or French fries. I went with the okra and dipped it in their house-made ranch--absolute perfection. If you ever get the chance to grab one of these, don't hesitate. It's a must-try!

Visited the area for a work trip and although not the next Texas BBQ I've ever had it gave me the fix + "when in rome"! Went off the menu and ordered the special which was a brisket burger. It had caramelized onions on it, lettuce, cheese, and their version of a Big Mac sauce. Was with a big group so we ordered an assortment of sides. The Mac and cheese is thick and delicious but the beans were fire! Everyone else at the table seemed to enjoy their food as well. As we say there , we're glad we arrived when we did because the menu ran out fast. Order beer/drinks separate from the bar, I got the margarita which is claimed the best in Katy and it was pretty good- I'll give them that! If you're looking for BBQ in the area, I'd recommend!

Baked potato, side of mac and cheese, and holy trinity with cilantro jalapeno cole slaw.

I went to their previous location and this location is a big improvement. Thankfully parking is not going to be a problem here. Not sure why they are rated only a 3.5 currently, we shall find out. There was a small line of about 10 people in front of me.....when I arrived. It turned out to be a short wait...then ordered, and it was a short wait for the food too. I ordered the holy trinity for $45. I'm not sure this is exactly a deal by any means. You get 2 slices of brisket (about 1/3 lb, most of a sausage link (ends were cut off), and 2 pork ribs., also one small side and a plain baked potato. If you order all items from the holy trinity separately, ....you actually save $2, so they got me there. The meat was definitely the star of the show, with the brisket being moist and delicious, ribs were tender, juicy and falling off the bone, and sausage in my opinion was the best thing on the plate. I was able to sub the daily sausage special, piquin pepper and cheese sausage, for the regular with no extra charge. I still feel they may have given me the regular sausage, as I didn't see any cheese in this sausage. They also failed to give me the bread, pickles, onions and jalapeños it comes with. When I went to go ask for it....their immediate response was to question me and say well you need to ask for it. No, when the menu says it comes with it already, they need to give it to you on your plate. So they were out of line there! The sides were okay. I used my side from the holy trinity to try their cilantro jalapeno cole slaw. I also added a small Mac n cheese. The slaw was a nice refreshing cole slaw, only 2 problems, I didn't ever taste any jalapeno OR cilantro! Did they forget to use cilantro? Because it's pretty obvious in taste and smell when you add it to a dish. I did see diced jalapeno, but it was not spicy in the least, nor did i ever taste it. The Mac and cheese was in curled pasta and had some black pepper on it, sort of a modern take on mac and cheese. I would have preferred a traditional one with more cheddar cheese. The baked potato came with cheese, sour cream, and butter and was a little pricy at $10. I think Rudy's is around $7, for comparison....for same size. Overall. I enjoyed the new restaurant and the food, but I'm only giving them 3.5 stars for all the mishaps I experienced.

The Texas Trinity! Pork ribs, brisket and sausage with 2 sides. I chose potato salad and cornbread pudding.
    Adam R.

The restaurant came with high praise. It was a very nice looking BBQ place, we visited last Saturday about 4pm. I ordered the Texas Trinity to try all the meats. My wife got a baked potato. The sausage was very nice and only second to the brisket. Very tasty. I like not having to ask for a marbled or lean cut of brisket. You get a whole slice of actual brisket that has both. However, the rest was disappointing. When I saw the amount of ribs on the tray I was surprised and ready to dig in. But the ribs were so over done they were dry and black on top. What came to mind was Bucee's beef jerky on appearance. It was not jerky but the dry black pepper look and smell was not enjoyable. It wasn't burnt. Even covered in BBQ sauce it was too dry and picking meat off the bone to eat is never good sign for a rib. I think it just sat in a warmer or smoker too long. Lastly the sides. The potato salad was dry, very large chunks of potatoes. No real flavor stood out. The corn pudding must be an acquired taste. It was okay but not for me. My wife had a baked potato with sausage on the side and it was very good. Not sure we would go back.

We decided to give them a try after reading so many good reviews. We came in late in the evening and got their burger with NO cheese and of course there's cheese so I couldn't eat it. I tried scraping it off but it didn't work and we order some ribs. My husband thought the burger was alright and to me the ribs was ok kinda dry. Maybe because we came late so it's been sitting there but I will be back and try some other things since they were out of a lot of things. Customer services was just a person taking the order so not very welcoming.

KATY, TX 77494 / BBQ / 04-15-23 / TAKEOUT SUPPER +The brisket was tender, moist and nicely smoked. +The smoked turkey was juicy and well-cooked. +The cornbread casserole and mac n cheese were delicious. -The meats and mac n cheese had a little too much pepper for our liking. -The pickled jalapeños and cucumbers were placed into paper sleeves, which spilled all over the takeout bag.

    Mac and cheese, coleslaw, beans
    Corey S.

Great food, great bbq, not too big of a fan of the jalapeno coleslaw. We had the sausage, burnt ends, brisket, and ribs. The mac and cheese is solid and the beans are solid as well. The burnt ends were my favorite part.

Ask the Community - Brett’s BBQ Shop

Is the sausage really all beef, or is it beef sausage in a pork casing?

I don't like the fact that I can't get a smaller potion of ribs. Can yo? If I could eat all that at once it would not be a problem but I can't. They need to be flexible.

Agree. They do the same on beef so it’s either a 1/2 or a full lb or nothing.

Service was extremely slooooow... waited 45 mins for 4lbs of crawfish, asked for butter and a tray to put the shells in, they said yes and the cook never came back so I had to go get my own at the cooking area. Our server was lack luster and didn't seem like she wanted to be there. She didn't even come to apologize for the wait or that the food was coming. We had to ask for refills and napkins after waiting 15+ mins until she came back to the grass patio area. Crawfish finally came it was lukewarm and some had a fishy taste. Best part there was maybe 15 people in the grass patio area and 3 people at the inside bar. Customers were cleaning off the tables to sit, getting their own napkins and going inside to get drinks at the bar. A table in front of us declined their potatoes and sausage bc it took so long after their other food came out. Also, we wanted to order cheese fries but were told they weren't doing certain foods bc there was only 1 cook. Lol Place has potential but needs to be cleaned up (random kiddie pool next to the outside crawfish cooking area) , food needs to be refined, servers need to be retrained and customer service needs to be a focus.

This is really not that type of place. The menu is limited. We did order wings, poppers and fries. The wings were not bad. We got them first. The spicy leach wings were pretty tasty. Our fries came next. They were pretty limp. I asked about the poppers and was told they only have one air fryer so it takes time. The poppers did arrive and were crispy (good) and nice hot. My wife had one hell of a strong frozen margarita that had too much triple sec. The tequila content helped a little there though. Our waiter was seen a limited amount of times. At one point I was tired of waiting for water I went and waited to ask for our check. Needless to say. If you want to have drinks and sit at the bar. This is the place to go.

Table of 4, waiter addressed us after about 10 minutes, got obviously upset when he figured out we weren't drinking alcohol, treated us poorly the entire rest of the visit (when he actually deigned to stop by). Ordered "hand battered" pickles, which is a lie, these came directly out of the freezer, had absolutely no flavor at all, and were not served with the dressing specified on the menu. He literally dropped them and ran. I had to go the service counter to get us napkins so we could try the food, and we had to flag him down to ask for the accompaniment. When confronted, he literally said "it doesn't come with anything", we replied that the menu said it did, and he insisted that he was correct. So, he was asked for ranch dressing (which is what the menu states was supposed to be served with it), and he stated, "oh, we don't have any of that, we've been out for weeks". REALLY? He just decided he didn't like us, so he treated us like crap. Burger ordered, listed on menu as 1/2 lb., might have been 5 ounces maximum and had no flavor at all. All of just picked at our food, because it was all just sad. In addition, meals that came with fries had the fries served almost 10 minutes after the meals. Saving grace, they were hot and well seasoned, so we finally had something we could all share to eat, but had to fight to get ketchup for those that wanted it. The music is a mix of EDM, Hip-hop, Rap, and R&B. They have tables and bar top seating. If you have a bigger group, I'm sure you can find a table depending on the time you arrive. There is a lot of seating. To start off, I ordered the Matcha Martini. It was STRONG omg, definitely a sipper, but it was so good. It was creamy and had a good matcha flavor. I love how they added matcha powder on top. For drinks, I also tried their espresso martini and Bubbly Pineapple. The espressos here are good, no complaints. The Bubbly Pineapple is so cute; it comes out with a bubble of smoke you can pop. The drink is very refreshing; it really tastes like pineapple. FYI, the drink has little black seeds, so if you don't like textures in your drink, maybe this one isn't for you. Also the drink came with a little frozen pineapple you can add to your drink once you pop the bubble As an appetizer, I got a dozen raw oysters and decided to add the $5 tobiko (fish eggs). Let me say, they were not stingy with the Tobiko, there was so much on my Oysters, I mean a lot! The oysters were good, and so was the tobiko, but I feel that with so much tobiko, it kind of took away from the oysters. Still good though, especially for $21 for the dozen with the tobiko! It was very filling I'm not gonna lie, I got pretty full with the oysters, but I still had to eat my entree As an entree, I ordered the Short Ribs, which came with rice and a side salad. I didn't think I was going to eat much of my entree since the oysters had filled me up, but I ate the short ribs down to the bone! Every single one of those ribs I devoured, no meat was left on my plate. I didn't have space to eat, but my stomach made space for this. 10/10 would recommend the short ribs, especially with the delicious sauce it came with. I think it's like a fish sauce 10/10 for food and drinks. Bonus: the staff here is really friendly. I really enjoyed my time here. I need to come more often for sure, this is definitely a Katy gem
