This place really shocked me. It was absolutely delicious, like everything I ordered. Not one complaint from me. I ordered the Grilled Shrimp Tacos. The shrimp was seasoned very well and they weren't overcooked which is a plus. The only thing I wish the dish has was more toppings for the tacos. I also ordered some Boudin Balls........,........ OMG THE BEST BOUDIN BALLS I've had in a really long time. I for sure will come back just for the boudin balls. I also ordered the $3.75 margaritas!!! OMG. Even the margaritas were tasty and did the job! Our waiter was very nice and patient with us as it was our first time. He gave excellent recommendations and kept checking on us. Paul's was fantastic! The boat is cool, Paul and his wife were great hosts. The Gumbo was fresh and so tasty! Best I've had since Tortuga Flats back when n the 90s. The jalapeño cheeseburger was awesome and spicy fresh and I'll be grabbing another real real soon. Others at dinner raved about the fresh mega fish sammich and platters. Everything was so good. It's definitely dive barish type of vibe but still homey. We got the fried pickles (had to have been the BEST ones I've had) and order or the regular oysters and the oyster sampler (all were great, hard to figure out which one was the best) for entrees, we got the fish and chips, fried shrimp, red snapper and the California snapper and shrimp. I liked this place! My friend and I noticed it's beautifully garish, boat like exterior while driving to a bizarre timeshare presentation at West Oaks Mall & decided to stop at Paul's on the way back. It's colorful and fun, all types of seating inside and outside, complete with an upper level deck that unfortunately wasn't open at the time. It was a Thursday evening and there was live music performing for the small amount of people in attendance. The place is definitely divey and very casual. The service was absolutely stupendous by the bartender; she was so friendly, efficient and sweet. The other guy helping us out was funny and nice as well. The prices on the menu are more than reasonable, the frozen margaritas are only $3.50 and I heard they're strong but it was too cold for one. I settled on the hushpuppies and dozen oysters, half chargrilled and half "mexican style." The oysters were $22 which I find to be a complete steal. The hushpuppies were small but literally the best I'd ever had, crispy on the outside and so fluffy and almost creamy on the inside. The oysters were great too, I definitely preferred the chargrilled over the Mexican. Both were good but the chargrilled let the oyster shine and had more nuanced flavors while the Mexican ones were veryyyy cheese heavy, to the point of it overpowering the oyster. I would totally recommend this place & I'll be back if I ever find myself in this random neck of the woods. read more

Loved this family owned establishment, food was sooo good only took a picture of my oysters that were fresh and GOOD!!! Had the fried shrimp meal and the catfish wish was fried and season perfectly. My daughter had the burger and fries and she loved it. They had performers that night and we enjoyed the show. Only one server however with a packed house patience is key!! I used to love this place, but the last time we were there, it was a major disappointment. The menu had changed (they used to have great po-boys). The waiter looked like he just got out of bed. He messed up our order and what finally came out was over-spiced and just thrown in the plastic basket plate.The badly-mixed margarita was served in a sticky plastic water glass. The wings were really good, it's hard to find a good wing in Houston! the snow crabs were pretty good as well, I believe they were steamed and to me steamed crabs are the best! I really love this bar! Their guacamole is sooo good but when we wanted to order a second round of guac, they were out of avacado's. They don't have coors light which is kind of a staple in Texas. They don't have draft beers. Bottles only. The crawfish were 7.99 a LB but some of the worst tasting crawfish I've ever eaten in my life. Idk if it's because they put their "sauce" on it as the guy taking my order was explaining, but, I didn't want it. My date was extremely rude and made me get it so I did. Terrible decision just like the date, lol. They don't have traditional butter, but garlic butter. That's NOT what I want. Some people HATE garlic and definitely don't want to be bombarded with it on the crawfish, then the butter, just wayyyy too much garlic. So I was driving down -6 and saw thirty different neon signs, so they already had my ADD sold on the concept. The signs were speaking my language, love a good (home beer-battered!) fish and chips, so I turn around and go stop in. Tara, the amazing manager, greeted me, got my drink (some of the best, cheapest margs in town!) and sat me down. The queso was delicious, spicy with great tasty home made and seasoned chips, and the fish and chips was no less superb, with that perfect amount of crisp, "doesn't get soggy with malt on top" exterior and a nice white tasty hot interior. That visit was yesterday, and I'm writing this from their bar today. Got fried shrimp and hush puppies, man did Tara's recommendations not disappoint (again.) I highly recommend Paul's for some casual, tasty seafood, you won't be disappointed. Pros: Local business, heckin' tasty, great frozen margarita specials especially Monday-Wednesday (start at $3 all other days,) great service from Miss Tara. Cons: Uh... Some of the dishes are a bit more than they probably should be? That's all that really comes to mind, though. Yeah, seriously. Paul's definitely hit the spot when I needed crawfish after dropping my son off at basketball practice. There was literally no wait. I grabbed a seat in front of the tv to watch the Texans game on the big screen. They had a special on frozen margaritas for $3 or $4 with a Grand Mariner floater on top. It was awesome and delicious! I ordered 2lbs of crawfish in the Cajun garlic butter seasoning and they were the bomb. The crawfish were fresh and not frozen. The seasoning penetrated throughout the crawfish. I was literally in heaven. 4 stars because I ordered wings but I was not a fan of the dried parmesan cheese. I thought the wings were tossed in a wet sauce. Literally my favorite "hole in the wall"! Cajun crawfish is so good, margaritas are STRONG, and the burger is juicy. I pass by this place every day and it's a great quick stop for fun and patio. This was a very bad experience and would never go back. Service was extremely slow like they forgot my order and food was not good. The fried fish was over cooked and shrimp were very small. I left my credit card and called to confirm and was told I could pick card up at the front. When I came to get my card the owner was there and acted like he knew nothing and I'd have to return. He was rude and totally unhelpful. I left my address and was called later that night I would have to return to pick it up because they didn't have a stamp to mail it to me. The menu is quite expensive. The only drink special is a 2.50 margarita with house tequila. Cocktails are cheap but it's a pretty depressing place. Damn what's missing?! Beer you say? All domestic. That could be one issue but that's not the problem. Servers know how to make drinks. Large and extensive outdoor patio. That's not a problem. I don't know. It's not my job to figure it out. We waited and waited 10 min went by we still don't have menus. We order tea there isn't any so she goes and makes some. My daughter ordered water she brings her lemonade. I would give this place a solid 2.5. I got a crawfish poboy, my wife got a chicken sandwich, and my niece got a shrimp quesadilla. When we got places we like to try each other's food. My poboy was very disappointing. The second I touched it it fell apart. The bread was dry, so I ending up just picking at it and eating the crawfish out of it. My niece's quesadilla was ok, but there was something a little off about it. She didn't even finish it. My wife's chicken sandwich was actually good, but forgettable. We spent waste too much money and time. Our waitress left us waiting almost 15 minutes for the check. The part I did like about it was the atmosphere. The restaurant itself is pretty amazing though! I must admit, I had high hopes for this place. It's a seafood bar housed in a boat... its gotta be good, right? Um... not so much. We walked inside and were greeted by the comforting aroma of fried seafood. We navigated the narrow space and took a table for two. The boyfriend ordered the Shrimp Platter ($18.99) and I ordered the Shrimp Po' Boy ($12.99). When the food arrived, mixed emotions were had. My Po'Boy came on a large metal platter with, what I estimate to be, at least a pound and a half of fries. The Po'Boy itself was 5 fried shrimp & 2 tomato slices on an VERY toasted large baguette. It was served with three sauces: cocktail, tarter, and ketchup. I'm going to start with the sauces: there was a film of dried sauce on the ketchup & cocktail sauces, as if they had set up dozen of these little sauce cups in the morning for the hoards of people who just never came. I scraped the film layer off of the cocktail sauce and put some on the baguette since it was served DRY. The first attempt at a bite was a failure; I thought I had cut my lip. The baguette was over toasted and thus, I had to cut off a half inch of desert style baguette. The flavor was bland. I gave up midway through and just ate the three remaining shrimp because I was hungry. The boyfriend's shrimp platter was equally as disappointing. 9 or 10 shrimp of various styles. The peel 'n' eat shrimp was terrible and only one could be eaten of the two. The only shrimp offering that elicited an "oh, this is good!" was the jalapeno shrimp. He got onion rings as a side were classified as "decent". The good: I'm sure that this would be a great place for drinks on the patio in the summer. They have lots of awesome drink specials, hence the one star. We did not partake in the drinks. BOTTOM LINE: This is NOT a place for food. It was a terrible waste of money and gastrointestinal effort. I would never recommend this place for food to anyone that I liked even a little bit. read more
