Everything was so good. It's definitely dive barish type of vibe but still homey. We got the fried pickles (had to have been the BEST ones I've had) and order or the regular oysters and the oyster sampler (all were great, hard to figure out which one was the best) for entrees, we got the fish and chips, fried shrimp, red snapper and the California snapper and shrimp. Honestly, everything was great, the food was phenomenal, the margaritas were good, Paul was super friendly and extremely accommodating. We'll definitely be back! read more

This place really shocked me. It was absolutely delicious, like everything I ordered. Not one complaint from me. I ordered the Grilled Shrimp Tacos. The shrimp was seasoned very well and they weren't overcooked which is a plus. The only thing I wish the dish has was more toppings for the tacos. I also ordered some Boudin Balls........,........ OMG THE BEST BOUDIN BALLS I've had in a really long time. I for sure will come back just for the boudin balls. I also ordered the $3.75 margaritas!!! OMG. Even the margaritas were tasty and did the job! Our waiter was very nice and patient with us as it was our first time. He gave excellent recommendations and kept checking on us. If you're ever on this side of town and looking for a great seafood place, Paul's will definitely do the trick read more

Paul's was fantastic! The boat is cool, Paul and his wife were great hosts. The Gumbo was fresh and so tasty! Best I've had since Tortuga Flats back when n the 90s. The jalapeño cheeseburger was awesome and spicy fresh and I'll be grabbing another real real soon. Others at dinner raved about the fresh mega fish sammich and platters. Frozen margaritas hit the spot as well! The boat is open for Business and it rocks!! We will be back. read more

I liked this place! My friend and I noticed it's beautifully garish, boat like exterior while driving to a bizarre timeshare presentation at West Oaks Mall & decided to stop at Paul's on the way back. It's colorful and fun, all types of seating inside and outside, complete with an upper level deck that unfortunately wasn't open at the time. It was a Thursday evening and there was live music performing for the small amount of people in attendance. The place is definitely divey and very casual. The service was absolutely stupendous by the bartender; she was so friendly, efficient and sweet. The other guy helping us out was funny and nice as well. The prices on the menu are more than reasonable, the frozen margaritas are only $3.50 and I heard they're strong but it was too cold for one. I settled on the hushpuppies and dozen oysters, half chargrilled and half "mexican style." The oysters were $22 which I find to be a complete steal. The hushpuppies were small but literally the best I'd ever had, crispy on the outside and so fluffy and almost creamy on the inside. The oysters were great too, I definitely preferred the chargrilled over the Mexican. Both were good but the chargrilled let the oyster shine and had more nuanced flavors while the Mexican ones were veryyyy cheese heavy, to the point of it overpowering the oyster. I would totally recommend this place & I'll be back if I ever find myself in this random neck of the woods. read more

Loved this family owned establishment, food was sooo good only took a picture of my oysters that were fresh and GOOD!!! Had the fried shrimp meal and the catfish wish was fried and season perfectly. My daughter had the burger and fries and she loved it. They had performers that night and we enjoyed the show. Only one server however with a packed house patience is key!! The wings were really good, it's hard to find a good wing in Houston! the snow crabs were pretty good as well, I believe they were steamed and to me steamed crabs are the best! Also the mango margaritas is really good. Me, my daughter, & her dad ate there around 9 o clock pm the outside was pretty cool enough space for her to run around and be free so that was good. One last thing the waitress I can't remember her name but she was really sweet & nice absolutely loved her service. I didn't get a chance to take a picture of my food because I ate it all up before I thought about taking a picture lol read more

I used to love this place, but the last time we were there, it was a major disappointment. The menu had changed (they used to have great po-boys). The waiter looked like he just got out of bed. He messed up our order and what finally came out was over-spiced and just thrown in the plastic basket plate. The badly-mixed margarita was served in a sticky plastic water glass. The menus were dirty. I like "dives", the atmosphere of the place is great, but this time it was a pit. Sorry, but we won't be coming back. read more

After passing the glowing lights of this restaurant many times, i finally made my way in and it did not disappoint! The whole restaurant is vibrant, super divey and just the spot you would expect to have daily karaoke! We started off with the $3.75 house margaritas, they were strong and good! Next we got the oyster sampler and it was DELICIOUS! If you ever pass by, stop a minute and grab something to drink or eat. Paul is quite the conversationalist and you start to understand how this place has been open since the 80s. So happy we finally stopped by to try it. read more

Great seafood and fun place because it feels like a boat. Fried shrimp was good. Oysters too!

I've driven past here so many times but never stopped. I finally did because I had a craving for crawfish and they were out decided to stay anyway and ordered the "Cajun" shrimp which came with a ketchup type sauce all over it. Nothing Cajun or seasoned about it. I ate like 2 and was finished. The food wasn't the best but the bartender is sweet and the margaritas were pretty good, I also liked the music they played and hole in the wall vibes. read more

We live just down the street from them, have driven past them almost daily for the last half a year, finally decided to give it a try- planning to be regulars now. Margaritas actually do their job- the cups are iced, they don't cheap out on the pour. We had 2 lb of the Cajun shrimp, and the home made sauce was so delicious. read more

I had such a great experience! We had nachos as an appetizer and they were worth coming back for already! To top it off, we had great and memorable service from Paul! Live music and love the vibe!! read more

Omg the food! I love eating here. We came here for my husband's birthday this time! It's his favorite spot.

I really love this bar! Their guacamole is sooo good but when we wanted to order a second round of guac, they were out of avacado's. They don't have coors light which is kind of a staple in Texas. They don't have draft beers. Bottles only. The crawfish were 7.99 a LB but some of the worst tasting crawfish I've ever eaten in my life. Idk if it's because they put their "sauce" on it as the guy taking my order was explaining, but, I didn't want it. My date was extremely rude and made me get it so I did. Terrible decision just like the date, lol. They don't have traditional butter, but garlic butter. That's NOT what I want. Some people HATE garlic and definitely don't want to be bombarded with it on the crawfish, then the butter, just wayyyy too much garlic. The crawfish tasted fishy which I've never gotten that experience the entire decade + I've been eating crawfish for. The lady bartender is extremely sweet. Place is definitely a hole in the wall. Their fish tacos were good too but they don't have a sauce on top so it wasn't anything special. read more

So I was driving down -6 and saw thirty different neon signs, so they already had my ADD sold on the concept. The signs were speaking my language, love a good (home beer-battered!) fish and chips, so I turn around and go stop in. Tara, the amazing manager, greeted me, got my drink (some of the best, cheapest margs in town!) and sat me down. The queso was delicious, spicy with great tasty home made and seasoned chips, and the fish and chips was no less superb, with that perfect amount of crisp, "doesn't get soggy with malt on top" exterior and a nice white tasty hot interior. That visit was yesterday, and I'm writing this from their bar today. Got fried shrimp and hush puppies, man did Tara's recommendations not disappoint (again.) I highly recommend Paul's for some casual, tasty seafood, you won't be disappointed. Pros: Local business, heckin' tasty, great frozen margarita specials especially Monday-Wednesday (start at $3 all other days,) great service from Miss Tara. Cons: Uh... Some of the dishes are a bit more than they probably should be? That's all that really comes to mind, though. Yeah, seriously. It's not Steak 48, but for a good casual local restaurant to haunt Paul's does everything right and then some. read more

Paul's definitely hit the spot when I needed crawfish after dropping my son off at basketball practice. There was literally no wait. I grabbed a seat in front of the tv to watch the Texans game on the big screen. They had a special on frozen margaritas for $3 or $4 with a Grand Mariner floater on top. It was awesome and delicious! I ordered 2lbs of crawfish in the Cajun garlic butter seasoning and they were the bomb. The crawfish were fresh and not frozen. The seasoning penetrated throughout the crawfish. I was literally in heaven. 4 stars because I ordered wings but I was not a fan of the dried parmesan cheese. I thought the wings were tossed in a wet sauce. Other than that I enjoyed the 45mins I spent there and the service was exceptional! Thanks guys! read more

Literally my favorite "hole in the wall"! Cajun crawfish is so good, margaritas are STRONG, and the burger is juicy. I pass by this place every day and it's a great quick stop for fun and patio. double charged for mediocre food. was hoping it would be a cool spot from the curb appeal but was sorely mistaken :(

This was a very bad experience and would never go back. Service was extremely slow like they forgot my order and food was not good. The fried fish was over cooked and shrimp were very small. I left my credit card and called to confirm and was told I could pick card up at the front. When I came to get my card the owner was there and acted like he knew nothing and I'd have to return. He was rude and totally unhelpful. I left my address and was called later that night I would have to return to pick it up because they didn't have a stamp to mail it to me. Will never return and closed my credit card. Hard to see how they stay in business. read more

This place could be great. I can't put my finger on what's missing. It certainly could be on par with captain Tom's. The place is actually pretty neat, unique, interesting. The menu is quite expensive. The only drink special is a 2.50 margarita with house tequila. Cocktails are cheap but it's a pretty depressing place. Damn what's missing?! Beer you say? All domestic. That could be one issue but that's not the problem. Servers know how to make drinks. Large and extensive outdoor patio. That's not a problem. I don't know. It's not my job to figure it out. Come for the patio. Be prepared to spend. As much as it's boring, I can say it has potential. I'll try again in a few months. read more

I love this place. They treat me well and the place is fun. $2.50 margaritas in a boat-shaped dive bar? Shiver me timbers, count me in. Sure it seems like a sink or swim situation and if you take yourself too seriously, you may not enjoy it. But if you embrace a little entropy with a nautical theme- come on down! I would give this place a solid 2.5. I got a crawfish poboy, my wife got a chicken sandwich, and my niece got a shrimp quesadilla. When we got places we like to try each other's food. My poboy was very disappointing. The second I touched it it fell apart. The bread was dry, so I ending up just picking at it and eating the crawfish out of it. My niece's quesadilla was ok, but there was something a little off about it. She didn't even finish it. My wife's chicken sandwich was actually good, but forgettable. We spent waste too much money and time. Our waitress left us waiting almost 15 minutes for the check. The part I did like about it was the atmosphere. The restaurant itself is pretty amazing though! It definitely stands out. In one of the booths outside you can eating a boat. Although the food is very mediocre, you will at least have fun hanging out there. read more

Good patio. Interesting ambience. Service is usually lacking. Paul's Boat is one of those places that you go if you want an interesting night with pretty good food, and will be satisfied with no more than that. I've been going to Paul's Boat for about 5 years and it is consistently okay. The food is not imaginative but good. Essentially, this is good standard fare that is better on days that the patio can be used. Good for a group. read more

This is probably my third time at this location. I don't recall ever having a bad experience before. Last night was our last time coming here. We walked in lady told us sit anywhere. We waited and waited 10 min went by we still don't have menus. We order tea there isn't any so she goes and makes some. My daughter ordered water she brings her lemonade. I ordered calamari which was so salty it was inedible. Like so salty it upset my stomach. I ordered fried crawfish poboy you can't go wrong with that?! WRONG! It was rubbery and had the strongest cornmeal? Flavor it was disgusting I emptied it out and put in some my husbands popcorn shrimp which was also salty. My husband ate some of my onion rings which he said tasted spoiled but I couldn't taste that. Lol only thing good enough to eat here was the burger which my daughter ordered she said she was starving yet didn't even finish that. So just a bad experience overall having to get up to get the check and then to go boxes for my daughters crawfish. We ended spending about $80 on food we didn't eat and had really shitty service BUT the lady was nice so I didn't complain. While we waited on our check I was trying to decide if the lines on the cups belonged there to where my husband said NOPE they're just really dirty cups *ugh vomit* read more

Dropped by early around 5 on a Saturday evening only one other customer but it did pick up later. So it's a seafood place right? Known for their oysters on the half shell, but not today or for the next couple of weeks. They were out. Not the main reason we came so np. Let's try the 'new' New England clam chowder, oh no we don't make that anymore, the owner hasn't reprinted the menu, strike 2. They had seafood gumbo, which was pretty good. Let's have a couple of margaritas with a shot of Grand marnier, we haven't had our liquor delivery yet, we should get it soon. And it actually did come later in the meal. On to the entree's, shrimp brochette and fish and chips. A side of coleslaw please. Oh no, we are out of that, it may be here before you leave, and it did. I guess it comes in a bag. The entrees were meh. Strike 3. Now I remember why we only come here once or twice a year read more

I must admit, I had high hopes for this place. It's a seafood bar housed in a boat... its gotta be good, right? Um... not so much. We walked inside and were greeted by the comforting aroma of fried seafood. We navigated the narrow space and took a table for two. The boyfriend ordered the Shrimp Platter ($18.99) and I ordered the Shrimp Po' Boy ($12.99). When the food arrived, mixed emotions were had. My Po'Boy came on a large metal platter with, what I estimate to be, at least a pound and a half of fries. The Po'Boy itself was 5 fried shrimp & 2 tomato slices on an VERY toasted large baguette. It was served with three sauces: cocktail, tarter, and ketchup. I'm going to start with the sauces: there was a film of dried sauce on the ketchup & cocktail sauces, as if they had set up dozen of these little sauce cups in the morning for the hoards of people who just never came. I scraped the film layer off of the cocktail sauce and put some on the baguette since it was served DRY. The first attempt at a bite was a failure; I thought I had cut my lip. The baguette was over toasted and thus, I had to cut off a half inch of desert style baguette. The flavor was bland. I gave up midway through and just ate the three remaining shrimp because I was hungry. The boyfriend's shrimp platter was equally as disappointing. 9 or 10 shrimp of various styles. The peel 'n' eat shrimp was terrible and only one could be eaten of the two. The only shrimp offering that elicited an "oh, this is good!" was the jalapeno shrimp. He got onion rings as a side were classified as "decent". The good: I'm sure that this would be a great place for drinks on the patio in the summer. They have lots of awesome drink specials, hence the one star. We did not partake in the drinks. BOTTOM LINE: This is NOT a place for food. It was a terrible waste of money and gastrointestinal effort. I would never recommend this place for food to anyone that I liked even a little bit. read more

-Cheap frozen margaritas. -Awesome fried seafood and decent gumbo. It was raining and we sat at the bar. I felt like we were on a boat with salty air and waves crashing about but it's actually in a sea of used car dealerships and highways that get you from A to B. This isn't a place that is presumptuous or fancy, it is what it is- don't order a salad or chicken and expect it to be special or even well done.
