Nice that we no longer have to take the Scott exit when returning from Lousiana in order to pick up my favorite boudin. Was very happy to learn about this Katy location even though it's not convenient but since we had a reason to be out that way, it was a good time to finally stop in. Very happy with the box of smoked boudin we got. read more

A taste of Louisiana right here in Texas. Conveniently located off the freeway. Cookware, seasonings, cold and hot food options are all available right here. I got a few things for the freeze for later but I couldn't leave without some lunch Ordered boudin balls, 1 link of smoked boudin, an eggroll and cracklin. Love the smoke on the boudin. I do wish the cracklin had a little but me seasoning. I definitely will come back when I can't make the trip to the boot. read more

The Best Stop is a must visit if you love Cajun flavors. There's a great variety of hot and cold items, and everything felt fresh and well prepared. The chicken crackling was especially delicious, and the boudin balls were hot and flavorful. We even got to sample a few things. The store and restrooms were clean, parking was easy, and the staff was friendly. read more

**********BOUDIN HEAVEN************ The customer service coupled with the flavoring of the food is the reason people drive 1-3 hours to try BOUDIN, CHICKEN CRACKLING PORK CRACKLING, BURGERS and BOUDIN BALLS. The moment you walk into the door, a employee is greeting you with an authentic smile and warm welcome. Then you are overjoyed with the FREE SMELLS and SAMPLES. From hot food to frozen food you can surely get your DOWN SOUTH fix of the country flavoring and down home cooking. My favorite of course is the WARM CHICKEN CRACKLING and PEPPERJACK balls. They are absolutely delicious and taste homemade just like the original location. I merely need my fix often and it never fails. The SMOKED BOUDIN, vs the REGULAR BOUDIN, I prefer the smoked but it's pepper flavored is surely kicked up a notch. It is more dense compared to the regular which is more wet and flavored. My recommendation is pairing them with the FLAVORED CRACKERS. Oh my goodness you will not regret the drive or choice of food. Now let me talk about these burgers. They are pure ground beef with some of the best mixtures to make your mouth savor and bite your finger if you are not careful. The special bread has a slight sweet flavor; however, you can always substitute for regular bread if necessary. I am always asking to make changes and I am please most of the time. Ii have to admit there have been room for improvements through customers feedback. If you are just needing A CAJUN FIX, I will be the first to say try some of the fresh food which requires preparation at home. There is a huge variety and great choices. The team is lead by one of the best executive teams. Alexa the marketing director is so kind and sweet. Aaron the general manager is always willing to lend a helping hand. DON"T TAKE MY WORD FOR IT...............TRY IT FOR YOURSELF. read more

You know I love me some Cajun, and this place hits the spot. They have all your favorites, red beans & rice, boudin balls, gumbo, etc. also this place doesn't just have food for you to enjoy dining in but they're also a market where you can purchase items to make your own Cajun food. Their staff is friendly and you might just have to be rolled out of there on a chair after eating all that food. A must!!! read more

The Best Stop is, just like the one in Duson, La. It's a nicer store, but it's the same taste. For a longtime, I wanted one in Houston, Now we have it. No more transporting fresh sausage and Boudin, back from La. read more

The food has changed, it's not as good as it used to be when they first opened the location.

I've stopped in Scott, LA multiple times, hell I've gone out of my way to get there the last 10 years. My dad, his friends, my friends, & work colleagues (20 years) always to get Boudin, boudin balls, and cracklings. Not once has there been an issue. But this Katy, Tx location sucks! No way in heck it's the same recipe on any of it (if it is... Katy is being cheap). We have done a comparison between Scott & Katy... it's not even funny. But we did one more round here at the Katy store before we officially gave up on it and now I have a cracked tooth from a crackling. I understand "cracklings". I GET IT!!!! But that's some BS to get a cracked tooth on something that sucks taste wise. If it was a Scott crackling, I'd totally accept it because at least it was good!!!!!!! But to pay for NO FLAVOR and a dentist is dumb. read more

I've been wanting to try this place ever since I saw on social media they had a location in Katy and that I don't have to drive all the way to Louisiana lol. I didn't try much on my visit as I was in a hurry but I do want to return and try more items! From what I did try everything was great! The hospitality was also welcoming and friendly. I told the employee assisting me it was my first time and with no hesitation he offered me nice samples of the mild, smoked and original boudin. They were all tasty and flavorful but I opted for the mild as I didn't want any spice! The meat to rice ratio was perfect and it was moist and flavorful so I don't have any complaints. I also tried a sample of the chicken cracklin and i'm so mad I didn't get any cause it was sooooo good!! If you're a fried chicken skin lover you would really enjoy them. Whatever cajun seasoning they sprinkled on top of them was really good too. I would come again and take my time to look and shop around but overall I had a great experience! read more

I never had Cajun food however one of my friends who is a Louisiana native highly recommend this place and ordered me some chicken and sausage gumbo. I am in shook of how I have not had gumbo let alone Cajun food in my years of living. It was very delicious and I can't wait to try others read more

I have been to a couple of the locations of Best Stop in the area. Katy is by far the biggest and most structured. The food is very well priced and quick to order. Service is friendly but sadly not entirely competent. I stopped by to pick up a several ordered items. But they missed a portion of the order. It's very annoying when you're being told by the staff that the order is nearly ready and "fill in the blank" is being prepared. You assume they know what they're doing but then you get home start unpacking the order and it's missing items. Sadly I'm about 30-35min away so it's not like I can just run back out and pick it up. Overall the food is good when you get it. read more

I love me some boudin from Scott, Louisiana! I had a craving for something different but "light" (not a full meal) of the snack nature. But..we are in Katy so I didn't know what to expect. The employees were attentive & helpful. The boudin balls were interesting. I've had them from another popular stop in Scott & these were a different consistency than what I am familiar with. Almost like there was a gravy mixed in. They were spicy & fresh. The cajun mayo was $1.50 extra/not included which was a slight bummer but such is the cost of doing business; nothing is free. I want to go back to try their regular boudin but I don't think I'll go out of my way to get the boudin balls again. read more

Nice place. Decided to drive here from northwest Houston. A bit of a long drive, but worth it. I got some packaged boudin to go and jalapeno pork sausage. I got the smoked boudin and the original, but have only tried the smoked so far. I give the smoked boudin a 9 out of 10 and a 10 out of 10 on the sausage. Some of the best sausage I've ever had. Well worth the trip. read more

I wanted to stop by this spot in Louisana but I never did. Come to find out they opened one in Katy Texas. I was pretty happy to stop in. The customer service is top notch! Everyone was very attentive! Food: I really liked the bacon, egg sandwich. Tasted very good. Full of flavor. The smoked boudain was top notch! Very good and full of flavor. Reminded me a lot of Burt's meat market. The red beans and rice was very good as well. The pepper jack boudain ball was full of flavor. I'll definitely stop in and get more smoked boudain. That was definitely my favorite. I'll be back soon. read more

In the few times, I've traveled in Louisiana....I have always stopped at the "Cajun Market". Usually for some cracklins and other supplies for the smoker. Now I don't have to travel too far. I enjoyed the Chicken Cracklins and the smoked boudin. It had a great smoke flavor and some kick! It had flavor and spiciness. I did enjoy the PJ boudin ball biscuit. Anything breakfast-wise, I'd get in form of a breakfast sandwich. The bacon order was small for the price. Other than boudin and sausage, they got plenty of products to choose from. I'll definitely be stopping back. read more

Visiting Katy we stumbled upon this place after seeing a TikTok video and had to check it out for ourselves. We got there and there was no line or wait, the person taking orders told us there was new things being put out that was fresh. We looked at menu we wanted the pork cracklings but was $30 a lb!! We wanted to really try the chicken cracklings and we got 1/2lb, we also ordered smoked boudin and I wanted to try the red beans and rice. The smoked boudin wasn't as smoky as I would like and it was very spicy 6/10. The chicken crackling 10/10 and the red beans and rice were 10/10 great place to stop and check out read more

Excited to have a new 'stop' for amazing fresh Cajun food, especially loved the smoked boudin, amazing smoke & decent amount of spice and so good I basically finished in one bite...but they also have fresh pork & chicken crackljngs double fried (breaded/battered) & bagged (chicharrones to my lay LA indoctrination). Crawfish pie was ridiculous too! They do king cakes in Jan/feb & also 4th of July time, fyi. No cafe du monde but community coffee is also a great chicory coffee they have here, not sure if it's a blend of chicory here but most commonly community brand is...Staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating answering all my stupid questions and letting me have samples of everything, lucky me! Def plan on making this a regular stop for the chicharoones, boudin & friendly folk! read more

Had the boudin tonight, not impressed. Had better from other places plus it was way too spicy. I like spicy but this was a bit much.

The gumbo ($9 for a bowl) was pretty good, but a little salty. I wish they had more food options from the kitchen besides deep fried dishes. Will definitely need to try the boudin, sausage, cracklings, and other cajun food offerings on our next visit. The dining area unfortunately smells like cigars due to the tenant next door. read more

Not always possible to run to Louisiana to get some of your favorite Cajun treats but now you can just head to Best Stop in Katy. This is a beautiful store and cafe that serves all things Cajun. We grabbed a pork chop, some chicken cracklings, pork cracklins and a special order of unseasoned only salted cracklings for the wimp in the group (me!) and then threw in some boudin rolls with pepper jack. Service is super friendly and the food is the star. Just like that I was transported to Lafayette. read more

Taste of home in Katy and soon to be in Baytown. Thank you, baby Jesus. Sorry I didn't get more pictures. I was so flipping excited to be in there. Seriously though, my all-time favorite place to stock up on Louisiana staples any time I would go home. Now open in Katy. Hell yes. I am a regular customer of best Stop when I travel I-10west , and always have friends who ask me to bring them Items along with my own items, This last time best stop was largely out of products like stuffed chicken, pork chops, ect I even asked the manager if they had anything In the freezer, which i did a 20 minute wait for with no luck I am perplexed that they don't seem to keep the Katy location stocked with products read more

Okay so this is the first Best Stop in the Houston area. Having been to the Baytown location first, which I was told was significantly smaller than this location I was surprised. It's not really much larger, they have a bigger eating section. I was disappointed that they didn't have the jalapeno cheese sausage that Baytown has. When I say disappointed, I mean like REALLY disappointed. They have the same fresh prepared boudin, frozen Étouffée, gumbo. Pork crackling was HORRIBLE. Not sure if it was because it was about 45 minutes before closing. Chicken crackling was delicious, as it is in Baytown. read more

On Saturday at 10:21 a.m., the boudin was hot, fresh, and ready to serve. The aroma hit as soon as I walked in, and you could tell it had just come out with perfect timing. This is a hidden gem! I recently ate at The Best Stop, and let me tell you--this place hit the spot! I got: Chicken and pork cracklings Fried boudin ball with cheese Boudin link I used to have to drive all the way to New Orleans to get this kind of goodness, so I'm beyond happy to have it so accessible here in the Houston/Katy area. Everything was flavorful, crispy, and just straight-up delicious. Pro tip: Come early and thank me later read more

I was in heaven when I seen Best Stop here in Houston. I do not get to Scott Canton exit in Louisiana that much anymore. I even been know to drive from Lake Charles to the Best Stop at the Scott Canton exit. It is just a mere 99 miles. I came in to get the cracklin. I got a pound and it was great as always. Season was not as red and spicy as before. But, still wonderful. My wife got a boudin wrap and it was mighty tasty too. We split a small red beans & rice with pork sausage. It was wonderful. Seasoned just right. What a nice thing to have in Houston. So good ole cracklin and some homemade sides to go with it. The meat market is great too. Lots of selections and all fresh. Staff were very friendly and customer service was great. You have to stop and try to cracklin if nothing else. It is well worth it. read more

All three stars are for the gumbo. Both the gumbo and customer service were on point. I also purchased Boudin and an overpriced, super-dry King Cake from Gambino's Bakery in New Orleans. The cake was probably the biggest disappointment, right next to the Boudin. The Boudin was pretty dry and lacked flavor, though it had quite a bit of spice. I can handle the spice, but I also wanted it to be flavorful. I will definitely go back for the gumbo because it was probably the best I've ever had. Other than that, I won't be getting anything else from there. It's also really pricey--literally everything. read more

I passed the store a bunch of times and I've never stopped because I typically buy my Boudin in Lake Charles at a little hole in the wall and I didn't think I could find better... Listen to me when I say, I felt like a baby in a candy store. I have to wait to get this type of food for my family cause my mom is the closest to Lousiana. I spent $85 and got stuffed chicken, chicken gumbo, chicken boudin, chicken sausage, boudin balls, and chicken crackling. The line wasnt too bad when I arrived around 11:15 but now it's super long but everything was organized. They also have stuffed peppers, boxes of boudin and hot plates. read more

You know I'm nosy so I gotta go give this place a try since there hasn't been too many photos up yet. Y'all. GO. It's so dang good, everything's so well seasoned it's amazing. I'm not sure how well cracklins do with reheating so I got a quarter pound of the pork ones for about 9 bucks to snack on and it's the best dang thing. Juicy, crispy on the outside, soooo dang delicious. Also surprised by how delicious the smoke sausage was, that definitely came outta left field but I would highly highly recommend that too! Everything else was alright, though I would say the wraps are very 'wrap' heavy, i.e lots of fried dough before you get to the inside goodies, so i'd rate that lower than the rest. I went at around 10:30 on a Thursday and I was in and out in about 10 mins. I know for a FACT this place is gonna get hit by massive crowds once word gets around so definitely go before the storm! read more

They are clearly getting their footing, it's still early yet. The line was long on a late Sunday afternoon, not sure but I suspect it could ease up after the novelty wears off. The in-store dining area is really small, and the plastic wear and condiments weren't well stocked, more due to the volume of customers than inattention. The prices are quite good for what you get, and I got a pound of chicken cracklins and a pound of boudin for just about 30. Didn't love having to pay for saltines (first pack of two is free, but one free pack of two saltines for a pound of boudin is rough, even if each additional pack is $0.12). The smoked boudin is easily the best I have ever had. read more

Louisiana native here and was I ecstatic when I learned this establishment finally opened. I visited on their soft opening, which was the day before the official opening. There was no line, we went straight in and ordered. The employees were welcoming. However, they messed up on our order multiple times for example, packaging food when didn't order and putting more cracklings in the bag then I ordered. Will I come back again, you darn skippy. Everyone is so nice and the chicken cracklin is top tier! I stop every time I'm on that side of town

Love their boudin and their sausages, especially the cheese and jalapeno smoked links. My only disappointment was that the crackling was rock hard on two separate visits and with the prices you're paying for that stuff, that should not be the case. But don't get me wrong.
