Hank's changed in the move. You pay when you walk in and then seat yourself. There is a HUGE disconnect with the waiter actually knowing what you ordered. Had to ask multiple people to get our drinks and appetizers out (which came with dinner) and the beer was sitting on the bar without a pick-up. We ended up going to the bar for the next beer because two people said they would get it and never came back. Same with a to go container. Boiled shrimp was good. Boudin balls were late and meh. The fried shrimp only comes in a 6 piece and 3 extra pieces would have been $7+. Been a supporter of Hank's since they opened post Katrina. Spoke to the owner and he is working through the kinks. I went to Hank's 9n Highway 6 and Clay during peak hours on a Friday night. I was in a time crunch, and expected a delay, but I didn't expect to have to wait 45 minutes for a to-go order. As I had ample time to figure out what was going on, I noticed a few things: The cashier had to disappear from her register after every sale and run to the expo window to check orders- because there was no one running the expo window on a Friday night. This idea seems preposterous- even with a drive-thru window, there should be someone on the window AND on the drive thru register during your busiest shift of the week. The bartender was in a constant flurry of making drinks for the restaurant. I ordered a Bloody Mary, and saw she had to look up how to make it. You can't leave inexperienced staff on their own during your busiest shifts, they'll drown in the pressure. Maybe thats why there aren't more experienced staff- they all quit due to poor management. Speaking of which, management was nowhere to be seen during this time. I expect a manager to be keeping eyes on their staff during busy shifts in case of complications or emergencies on the floor and in the kitchen. I saw none of this. I only saw a restaurant that was cracking at the seams due to absentee management ant the problems that stem from there. Whomever is managing this restaurant needs to stop and walk a day in their employees' shoes. Your business will only get worse if you dont pay attention to how your workers are working. Get enough staff so that your business functions, and don't sit in your office all day and get out and interact with your staff! read more

Jose was great. He was training Hershel who was also amazing. He really seems to have the servers working well together. Thought she was the manager! Would be a 5 but we ordered potatoes with the cashier/manager at front. Once we realized we didn't get them, they asked for our receipt and the potatoes weren't even on the ticket. Hey couldn't bring us potatoes till we paid for them. We were deep into our crawfish and didn't want to take off our gloves to pay for them, so we said it's all good. Visited Hank's on a Tuesday evening, and the server was super nice and attentive. Bonus points for that! The restaurant ambiance was that of a typical seafood/sports bar restaurant. My family ordered: - 2 lbs of mussels with added garlic butter - Hank's Fried Rice - Mardi Gras oysters Not pictured: - Snow crabs - Shrimp - Beignets The seafood was flavorful, but I wished it had more sauce rather than a thinner, liquid consistency. I added garlic butter to the mussels, hoping it would be more saucy, but it still wasn't quite to my liking. I ordered mild, and for those who can't handle much heat, be warned--anything more than mild is pretty spicy! We enjoyed the fried rice, wings, beignets, and Mardi Gras oysters as well. It's smaller, fast-food setup, and the whole ordering system is inconvenient -- you order food at the front and have to pay separately at the bar if you want a drink. The food was terrible. I ordered the red beans and rice and it had absolutely no flavor, and the rice was hard and undercooked. Overall, the quality has gone downhill. Whatever changed behind the scenes clearly wasn't for the better. I won't be returning. read more

Very fun atmosphere and can be loud like you are in New Orleans. I'm not sure what the other yelpers saying the flavor is bland because the Cajun and Cajun garlic has very good Cajun flavor and can be a kick with only on mild spice. The beers are super nice and cold to my liking. The lobster crab bisque is so good! Best bisque u had in a long time. The lobsters are real and the crab meat. The crab cake also so flavorful! I went in today at Hanks to try out their food. They are way overly priced for this food you get is subpar in my standards. Service is terrible. I asked for some lemons to go on my fish and shrimp and they brought me out these super thin slices of lemons I ask if I could get a whole lemon or a half a lemon so I could squeeze it to get the juice. They said me know that they prep it in the back of the kitchen. I ask if they have whole lemons in the back of the kitchen and they said yes ask if they could cut one in half and give it to me. Yesterday the MANAGER with the name of supreme, have to put his fights and disrespect me by yelling at me telling me that I was aggressing his waiters which was a lie. I could understand if he actually had talked to me with manners and professionally he is the MANAGER, but know what he did. It was wrong. He yell at me then my husband actually had to confront him. He needs to have people skills because he actually is a person that picks and choose his customers. I have been going to Hanks for a long time not only once but twice maybe three or four times a week. I have put all my receipts together and I come to find out at one month. I actually spent over $3000 just going to this restaurant which I am now going to start saving my money.. money I feel bad to leave all the group of people that I have met there but dear owner of Hanks Scott you really need to think about who really is behind the bar which is supreme. I see him picking up bottles of brown whiskey. I see him with glass of whiskey in his hand, taking it to the back, so maybe you need to actually put more cameras on your new location in order to find out who really is stealing from you. I have been here several times over the crawfish season and it's worth it every time. Spice is subjective but medium is enough for me. They are always running some sort of deal during the season. I generally sit at the bar so service is quick an attentive. It's very New Orleans here from music to decorations. Nooooooo!! Not my Hanks! I would give a 1 star for today's experience, but because they have consistently had the best crawfish on the planet, I will give them a break. It's still April, yet these were FROZEN. You can always tell by the chewy, chalky texture and the bendy shells. That's why I never order their snow crab! But not the crawfish in peak season We can accept 1 crappy experience out of 10 plus years of awesomeness.. but we were told it's because it's late season by the manager. late season!!? It's not even May yet. We've had them at the VERY end of the season and the VERY beginning. The only difference was smaller in size and a hard shell. Either the manager is dumb OR he thinks we are. Terrible. We drive over an hour for this and feel completely betrayed. The 2 crawfish he brought were mushy and old. I decided to go with something else. My partner wanted the fried rice since that was his favorite. We thought there was no way they could mess up the fried rice and we were wrong. It lacked flavor and was bland. Needless to say, we will not be going back. I went into Hank's today for a quick 2 lbs fix of crawfish. Unfortunately it left a very bad taste in my mouth. First the crawfish was served with about 20 ounces or boil/water in my bag, which made the crawfish continue to cook. 1/3 of the crawfish were mushy. Second the crawfish were very very small. Third the favor was marginal at best. This was all at the hefty market price of $10.99 per pound. Garlic, potatoes and corn will cost you extra. Blackened catfish, oyster poboy, gumbo, okra - all were exactly what I was hoping for (I live in New Mexico and don't get seafood very often). Will return on my next Texas visit. read more

I have to say the food was excellent. I ordered the smoked sausage with red beans and rice, a grilled chicken salad, and boudin balls. I feel this is the best cajun food I have had in the area. The place is small and not a lot of convenient parking but that's ok. The reason they got 4 stars and not 5 was how they do to-go orders. I had to call 4 times before anyone answered. They said 15 minutes. I get there 20 minutes later and pull up to the to go window and had to call the number. They said it will be a couple more minutes. No problem... then 10 minutes go by and i call again and they said just a couple more minutes. Another 10 minutes go by then the order is ready. There were plenty of menu options, and all the sauces you need are on the table. Started with some fresh, raw oysters. These were probably the best dish of the night. I really enjoyed the mignonette that came along with it. The wings and fries combo was... just that. Mild wings tasted like Frank's hot sauce and fries were bland, not Cajun. Crawfish bisque tasted very...premade? Didn't have a "from scratch" flavor. The worst item off the menu had to be the crawfish, which should be the star! I ordered crawfish with garlic butter mild. It has no real flavor and the garlic doesn't even come through. The crawfish sauce was runny, and looks like it was boiled in water and butter. I know this place is a fave for many, but no bueno for me. I can honestly say I would never return again for the crawfish. Maybe the raw oysters, but that's it. read more

Stopped in for crawfish while in town and this place was super busy! We came in at 4:30pm thinking we may beat a crowd, but it was packed with diners and to go orders. This spot has a drive thru window too!!! We ordered ten pounds of crawfish spicy with potatoes and corn and a pound of shrimp. The crawfishes were huge. We could even grab meat from the claws. The shrimp was also huge. They are professionals here and know how to make a crawfish and shrimp boil. Usually when you request spicy it isn't spicy at all, but the crawfish was definitely spicy. We were loving the spice. The cashier at the to go counter was nice. Don't forget to get your gloves to eat this. The gloves were definitely handy and you will need it! I enjoyed this spot so much. this is our favorite place it used to be more locations opened. everytime we come the food is sooo good but the service is HORRIBLE. mean employees that don't even fake it. we are actually servers but shouldn't have to broadcast that to be treated kindly. they are rude here with no smile . the manager asked the server if she wanted to take us and she said no. manager made smart remarks about closing. you can't treat people like they are stupid and talk condecending. I begged my friend not to over tip like last time because we shouldn't have to BEG for decency.
