Went to dinner with my girlfriend close to where I live, and it was not a good experience. We left and decided to venture out close to where she lives off 6, to try and salvage the rest of tha night, and found this place on google maps. This place made up for our whack azz night! It was our first time coming here Saturday night. . Went with a group of about 8. Our buddy's were there before us and they got their buckets. My and my friend got there a few minutes after them and we went for a bucket. The bar manager Hispanic female wouldnt sell us a bucket bc she says she knows we're with a group and she needs to see everybody's ID again. So I rounded everyone up with their IDs in hand and at that point she refused to serve us. -_- we did not argue with her we didn't speak to her we simply did what was asked. Even though it was a bit much knowing just minutes prior she sold alcohol to them but I understand she's just doing her job. We stood there waiting to be helped about 10 minutes it was a slow we could've been helped but she never came back . We ended up leaving to another spot. This place is definitely a big hole in the wall kind of place. The windows are all blacked out and it looks shady as hell from the outside. Once through the door, it's dark, smokey and still looks shady as hell. Crowd is a bit mixed with younger and older people. Several pool tables and a non functioning center stage. Bartenders were nice and made pretty decent drinks. No craft beer. Really I think this is not a place most people would like but if you can easily blend into any environment you should be ok. Smoke makes it difficult to recommend and even though I'm rating this a 2 id still probably go back. I think most of the people that come here don't know what Yelp is or never use it. I really enjoy coming to this bar because it's close to home and the bartenders are very friendly and like to have fun. Even when they say crazy stuff it's always in fun. These bartenders (in the area) can really make a good Michelada (oops they probably don't want me to say this). You should come by and say hi. The bartender asked a person 3 feet from me if he needed a drink (he had already ordered), ignored my empty glass and began to walk away. I stated I could use another drink, to which she promptly turned around and closed the other guy's tab ( though he wanted to keep it open), then stood there like I never asked (an obvious blond moment.) Another bartender approached me and again I ordered. He promptly took care of it. I thanked him and the bar manager, neither of which could find my tab on the computer. Then the original bartender told both bar managers I called her a bitch. Janice (a bar manager) stormed over to warn me about my attitude toward her bartenders. To which I was obviously confused and closed my tab. Worst 15 minutes at a bar ever. Janice had the customer service skills of a pitbull in season. Get your shit together and fire the blond. Ridiculous. That was my first time visiting for which I had zero reason to scorn any of the staff and I like to spoil my bartenders that pour good gin. Not worth the money or time after that experience. The karaoke was okay. The sound could have been mixed better, but it was almost music to my ears in comparison to the service. Tried to eat lunch here. One of the biggest mistakes I've ever made. I promise you the nacho chips are reused. Some fresh some like 4 day old stale. Who's bar? MY BAR. :) That is their slogan. This place is HUGE and definitely not your trendy Midtown bar. It is an older crowd, but there is plenty of room for all ages and types. The bartenders are fun and the drinks are cheap. They have poker and pool leagues that operate out of the bar on certain weekdays. The live music here is usually pretty rough and is definitely not worth the cover they sometimes charge on Saturday nights. They have cheesy, old but fun arcade games and one of those punching machines. There are plenty of pool tables with lots of room for comfort. There is karaoke a few times a week, but come here to have fun, not to listen to 5 star singers. All in all, its a great place for going to hang out with your friends for some cheap drinks and laughs, but don't expect to impress anyone by bringing them to My Bar. read more

I went here for the first time to join a free poker tournament. I understand it is a local, not fancy joint, a great place for locals that is laid back. The drinks are ok and at an ok price. The reason I gave this bar 1 star is because it took 40 minutes or more for me to get any drinks. I understand they were busy, but there is no excuse for drinks to take that long, as any professional would know. At one point our whole table was waiting on drinks. After 30 minutes or more I looked over to the bar and saw the one girl I saw most of the night taking orders and bringing drinks just standing behind the bar laughing it up with another employee. Really? I don't think I will be coming back anytime soon, even for the poker, mainly because of the time it took to get one drink. read more

Our pool league recently switched over to this establishment, as the owner was very enthusiastic about getting our league here. It is a very friendly establishment, and the owners have been very welcoming to us. It is nothing more than a local neighborhood bar though. No big bells and whistles about this place. My last review was from my second visit. We have been coming here every week , at least once sometimes twice a week, ever since! my husband works close to this bar and his coworkers like to come here because you can't beat the prices, we just found out as of last week that Thursdays are steak nights, you can get a great steak dinner, with a salad and potato plus beers or well drinks for less monehy than anywhere in Houston, I guarantee it. Plus, I have to say that what keeps us coming back is the great friendships we have made with some of the regulars, the bartenders, and busboys, specially Flor and Beto, they are on top of their stuff. We were hesitant to go to My Bar due to the reviews, but I really wanted to hear the band that was playing. When we got there, we were pleasantly surprised! It was very clean, and the friendly staff helped us find the best seats for seeing the band. The restrooms were clean and very well lit. When it's football season, I'm at My Bar where you'll find the guys in front cooking up some amazing food, an MC raffling off items and THE MOST LEGIT BLOODY MARY BAR you'll EVER experience! I came into My Bar today after a long exhausting day of work with Hope's of relaxing being able to shoot some pool and have a couple of drinks! As soon as I walked in I noticed that there was food out for the customers to help themselves to, so I walked right over to begin preparing me a plate! A man with blue eyes and a blonde hair ponytail started charging towards me from the bar, with an extremely noticeable angry face! He begin pointing towards me and said, THIS FOOD IS FOR PAYING CUSTOMERS ONLY!!!!!!!! I was so embarrassed and humiliated! I almost started to cry... I then said there's a misunderstanding sir, I intend to order a couple of drinks and play some pool! He then said Well you can jot eat here unless you purchase a drink first! Being so humiliated I then suggested that he brings me a shot of Patron.. by this time my plate has already been made! He then stormed away and walked towards the bar! I sat at the table with my plate and began eating. He then comes BACK to me Without the drink and says, I need to see your id before I serve you ANYTHING! I then gave him my texas registered id! He held it up and said, I can not accept this, it looks forged, so now it's a matter of proving a point because i am totally embarrassed by now, so i give him another form of id which was my military id, he then compared it to the texas id I had given him in the beginning!! He then accepted it and asked what would I like to drink again? I was then so embarrassed I said I'll just have a water instead so I could just finish my food and leave! I used to go there often. Even though service from the girls is literally terrible. They see u walk in smile then never get you a drink. They'll sit n talk on the phone or amongst themselves. Fine. I'll wait. I still went cuz they play country n it's majority older crowd so they don't wanna start up a convo. But I went there for about 30 mins on st pattys day this year. I had a beer n a shot. Asked to be closed out 4 times they said ok then walked off. When she finally ran my card she said nope not workin. I said try again. There's money in there! She said nope ran it three times. So I used the atm pulled a 20$ which ends up costing me 26$ with fees to pay a 7$ tab. Fine. That same night I check my acct. someone stole my card numbers and spent 100 at a circle K in Humble. Never been there! The bartender never ran my card, just swiped it in a reader n stole my #'s. That's the only time I had used my card in two weeks! It was definitely her. read more

We just had a bizarre experience here. After suffering through song after tedious, boring, acoustic song (seriously, an hour and a half of crooning) waiting for the legend, Doug Stone, my husband waited at the not-particularly-crowed bar for a good 15 minutes for a new drink. When the bartender finally acknowledged him, he was informed that this was to be his last drink. Being the uppity bitch that I am, I of course went over to close our tab POSTHASTE! They had padded our tab with a good 3-4 drinks. To be fair, I'd switched to water about an hour before (or else be put to sleep by the endless wailing on stage), so they weren't impressed with us in general, but we'd vacated the bar earlier to make room for the real drinkers (having both been former service industry types, we know the etiquette). So, okay, fine, these imaginary drinks we had were cheap, thankfully, but if you're gonna cut someone off before the main event, do it for a good cause. My bar is completely renovated and beautiful inside! The bar staff has basically been replaced and under new management. It is a smoking bar but it's too great to stay away! I love this bar! The liquor and beer is farely priced. All new staff all new prices and a brand new food menu! The staff is very attentive I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door. I got a drink in under 2 minutes. It took me longer to decide which drink I wanted because they had such a LARGE variety of liquor. I was blown away! She came back many times even before my drink was empty. My group enjoyed themselves. They had a dj playing all kinds of music to accommodate the diverse crowd! Love this place, been going there since it was known as Joy's Club.....miss that woman and the other girls that built that location up to par. Miss Elizabeth too. My friend and I went to this bar not knowing a Tejano band was playing. We got there at 8:15 pm or so and walked in, we were informed immediately about the band and about their $15 per person cover charge. We reluctantly paid, and went to find a seat. We wanted to have a good time and just see what this band was about. About 99% of the seats were reserved which seemed weird. We found one that was not reserved and sat down, a man came around and informed us that this table was reserved as well, but he had not gotten a chance to post it on that table. He told us we could buy the seats and stay, that he would place the "so called" people reserving that seat in another place. We bought that table because of the view, it was $25 bucks. Big mistake. The band didn't start until about 10:45 pm and the music they were playing was extremely loud. I mean super loud. Head banging, Tejano music with the same beat. Sounded like clown or circus music. About gave me a headache. We waited to see if seats would fill up but they didn't. This lead us to believe this place was selling the seats to receive extra money in case of low turn out. We left about 15 minutes after the band started due to the loudness and horrible sound. I'm sorry to post such a negative message but every time we turned around something else was needed. When we ordered drinks and they wanted to hold our ID. Made some excuse as to why they had to keep it, saying many people have the same names, blah, blah blah....Very disappointing place and will never return if they have that style music again. Oh, and the waitresses were not particularly attentive. Too busy blinking the cute customers. read more

I have been to this bar an average of about two or three times a month in the last few years and although it wasn't the greatest place with the greatest atmosphere all of the regulars are really nice. Didn't really care about the change in owners or management as it recently advertised on it's sign out front. I have been in a few times since then and three out of the five times I've seen cockroaches. The first two times they were ity bity ones and were in my drink and they replaced my drink and the last time one a little less than an inch long was walking across the bar, one of the new owners was sittting right next to me while I pointed it out to the bartender who squished it with a napkin and thru it in the trash. Maybe the owner pretended not to notice so she wouldn't have to comp mine and my boyfriends drinks. We only had one and after seeing that, decided to leave and NEVER go back. They are getting bigger over there and with that owner turning a blind eye to them, they will be all over that bar in no time EEWWWW! read more

I have been going to this bar since I was old enough to drink. The last two times I went in there, they act shady and take forever to get your drinks, sad part is, they are hardly ever busy. I went in there tonight and order a vodka and coke and a five star general. After receiving my drinks i was told that i would not be served anymore by the bar tender. I asked why and she said that management did not want her to make the shot and that he was in a bad mood. I could totally understand if I went in there already drunk or if I was causing a scene. I wrote on there fb page about how I was an unhappy customer and the bar tender txt me on my phone saying don't bad mouth them, cause the don't want to lose business. well , tell your management to stop being a a-hole and treat his customers right. I promise I will let everyone I know who goes in there to never go back. There are way nicer bars that treat there customer with respect. I would not suggest this bar to anyone anymore.
