We arrived at seven, and the room was quiet with only a few regulars scattered around. The interior is simple, but the charm of this place is not in the decor. It is in the plate they set in front of you. The steak was a true hidden gem. It had that comforting charcoal flavor that reminds you of backyard evenings and easy laughter. The green beans were seasoned in a peppery way I had never tasted before, and the mashed potatoes were smooth and rich. They even brought a small salad while we waited, which felt like a kind gesture. The wait for the food after ordering was close to an hour. I do not know if that is typical, but it was definitely noticeable, and with no karaoke happening, the room felt very still in that soft, quiet way a weeknight sometimes settles in around you. It seemed like many of the regulars already understood the rhythm of the evening and accepted it with a kind of calm patience. BEWARE- DO NOT GO HERE!!! We visited Glitter Karaoke in Houston for my daughter's 21st birthday and had a very disturbing experience. The doorman (who goes by Doorman HTX on social media) was wearing Meta glasses, recorded us at the door, and posted the video online. Our driver's licenses were shown unblurred, with full names, birthdates, and home addresses visible. The Instagram post reached tens of thousands of views before Instagram disabled his account for violating their policies. Unfortunately, he has since reposted the video on other platforms -- on YouTube he blurred the licenses, but the original Instagram version was not blurred and had already spread. We live in California and even got a call from someone back home who saw the video, so this exposure traveled far beyond Houston. This is extremely dangerous, putting guests at risk of identity theft and harassment. It is unacceptable that an employee is allowed to film patrons' IDs and post them for likes and views. Management needs to take immediate action to remove this content everywhere and ensure this never happens again. Beware before visiting -- your privacy and safety could be compromised. read more

It was around 10pm and it was only a handful of people in there. There was a DJ playing so we got a drink and jammed for a little bit. Majority of the tables had reserved on them so it confused me a bit at first. Ya girl old. I was only going to stay out until 11 on a "work night". When we were getting ready to leave the DJ started making announcements that karaoke was about to start. A lot more people were there at that time. But I'm like y'all "about" to get started at 11!!? Don't y'all work tomorrow? Lol. The crowd seemed very young like 20s, maybe early 30s. Y'all got the energy, not me. I noticed the pieces of papers on the tables to select a song and hand it to the DJ to get in que. To my dismay they had a stipulation that you had to buy two drinks in order to even sign up for karaoke. I had ordered a side car which I don't think was on their happy hour special. Updated consolidated review. Tl;dr: Glitter karaoke employees will harass and assault you and steal from you. Even if they were replaced, the karaoke machines rarely work, so you're better off going elsewhere. I've been to glitter karaoke on two occasions, each worse than the last. On the first, not only did we never receive our karaoke, but employees sexually harassed and stole drinks and cash from my party. We never planned to return, but years passed, and we put a deposit on a well-reviewed private karaoke room. It wasn't until we were inside we realized it was the same place. Unfortunately, they would not give us our deposit back, so we toughed it out and hoped for a better experience. It couldn't have been worse. For starters, the karaoke machine didn't work, and the employees never fixed it. That ultimately didn't matter, as a pair of employees violently assaulted our party. I'm not talking pushing or escorting out of a bar for being rowdy--I'm talking slashing with a broken bottle, throwing into windows, smashing with a chair, throwing punches, and kicking on the ground with steel toe boots. There is a hallway connecting the two private karaoke rooms that has the bathroom for the private karaoke users. The assault began there, where I was waiting with my drink (the bottle that was used for slashing me) for the restroom, and moved through the room to outside to the Uber while my party fled. It was no less than traumatic. The man who attacked yelled for being in the hall before assaulting us, even though another employee told us we could be back there for the restroom. In any case, attacking a customer is not appropriate. Glitter karaoke will not only ruin your night, but leave permanent scars. Either the employees responsible need to be fired or the business needs to be shut down and held responsible. In the meantime, save your money and avoid trouble by going elsewhere. Spotlight karaoke is an excellent alternative in a nearby location with employees that are properly trained (and have never harassed us or been violent), have working karaoke machines, and reasonably priced drinks. read more

I always have a good time at Glitter. It's your typical Karaoke bar with a bunch of people who love to sing, both horribly and wonderfully. Put down your request on the request sheet and turn it in to the DJ and then wait for your turn. I think there's a two drinks minimum if you want to sing, but that's pretty reasonable. I mean, they can't have people just coming in and taking stage time away from paying customers, and then just leaving, you know? They do pop up food events here as well although I don't attend that much. Blood Bros BBQ did a lot of pop ups here before they eventually opened their brick and mortal location. And let's not forget that they have steak night on Wednesdays. For $14 you get a ribeye, salad, side, and a roll. Pretty damn good deal. There's also a game room with some video games and a pool table. So even if you don't like to sing, you can drink and play games. Only downside? They don't have many private rooms. But to a lot of people this is not a big deal since they like to sing in the main area anyway. read more

Pretty good song selection, crowd gets pretty fun as the night rolls around and the place gets full. DJ in the front does a greatjob and I think as long as the line isn't too long you can sing quite often. Bar service is fast. We had a great time here as a part of four. We rented a room for a birthday. It was about 10 of us. When we arrived they said that due to technical problems the room was unavailable and we had to celebrate in the main room. One of the main reasons we booked the private room is so that we could sing happy birthday on the mic while cutting the cake. We approached the DJ and asked if we could still sing happy birthday to our friend and he said flat out "NO I don't do that". I asked to speak to the manager and complained. At the end of the day it wasn't our fault that the private room wasn't functioning. They told the DJ to let us sing happy birthday and he had an attitude about it. After that, every song I requested to sing he completely ignored. I kept taking request papers to him and he kept sitting them to the side. After the 3rd request that got ignored I tipped him to see if that would persuade him to let me sing and he still never put my name on the list. We left after 3 hours. read more

Came here after a conference which brought approximately 3k people to Houston. The DJ was extremely nice making sure that we got a song in before we left since we aren't from here. However, at the end of the night, they made us stand outside in the humidity while our hair grew and bodies got sweaty vs allowing us to wait inside for 5 mins while we wait for the Lyft/Uber to pick us up. Was super excited to come here for my friends birthday but was greeted by sub-par bar service and a DJ that never put our songs that we requested multiple times on. Even told him it was her birthday and she didn't get the chance to go up there. Asked the bartender for well vodka the entire night and he charged me for titos when I could clearly see the McCormick in the well (why I asked for well, as I could SEE it). Tab ended up being $150 for mediocre service and never getting the chance to actually sing which is what we came here to do. read more

Ah Glitter, my home away from home... and it is quite a bit more away now, since I frequented their old location in Alief some 6-7 years ago. So the location is farther (for me), the atmosphere a bit trendier, the space smaller, and yet, I still make the trek (30 minutes) for a place full of familiar faces, good drinks, good pizza, popcorn, a variety of other eats, and a great time. Another great attraction is the various pop up chefs that come in on certain Thursdays (check the schedule on FB). Some fantastic eats that you won't find anywhere else! Looks like they've drawn a large new following along with maintaining all their old regulars. The Midtown location makes it easy for locals to walk there and back home, no need for DD's. It's also become a hotspot for bachelor/ette parties, birthdays, graduations, etc etc etc. Yeah, it can get rowdy and the singing can be ridiculous, but it's all entertainment in some way! We rented the private room for 10 people and had a great time! You pick your songs through an app on your phone and the sound proofing is legit. We didn't hear anything happening in the main room. This past Saturday, our friends and us decided to stop in. The place was packed and bouncer managed to let us and we headed by the bar area. After ordering we found some bar stools and stayed there until a table became vacant. We heard a great variety of music. Drinks are bit steep, and slightly weak.Waitresses did circulate around though they were not able to locate our friend's card when tab was opened. One of us had to walk over and speak to someone behind the bar to get card back. Parking can be a bit of a drag. Be careful on those tow away signs because each sign has a different time posting. We spent at least five minutes walking down the street to make sure we did not see a tow away sign and that others had not been a parking ticket. They do have closer paid parking. Best bet bring cash, stop by early for a good seat and parking and enjoy the stage! read more

Glitter was my first ever karaoke bar and I really enjoyed it. It has a great ambience and music, friendly employees, and a pretty nice DJ. Four friends and I visited on a Thursday night and were a little taken aback by the stage karaoke in front of the entire bar (we were expecting more of a private room deal). However, we mustered up the courage to perform in front of the crowd and it was pretty exhilarating! At each table there's a link/app to a song list. You can choose any of the songs, write down your name and table number and give it to the DJ. We arrived a bit before 10 and karaoke began soon after. The DJ alternates between requests from different tables, so it took a while for all our song requests to go through. The venue is pretty nice, not too cramped or too spacious. For some reason a lot of tables had "Reserved" marked on them but there didn't seem to be any special guests. It was hard to find a table that was not reserved so we ended up sitting at a back booth (which coincidentally was still somehow reserved). There's a bit of an older crowd but we still felt pretty comfortable being the youngest ones there. We didn't order any food or drinks, but everything seemed pretty reasonably priced. (It was also nice to be able to sing without having to order anything). Overall, it was a pretty great experience and I'll probably be back whenever I feel the karaoke urge! read more
