Everyone was vibing and having fun. It also wasnt super hot in there as some venues can be. It was pretty cold. Overall a good experience. We really enjoyed it. It can be a bit tricky to get to. We had to wander a bit to figure it out.

It's small enough that you can actually feel close to the artist, which makes the experience much more personal than a huge arena. I love being up close and personal with the talent, and HOB is one of those places where that's actually possible. The venue has a good concert atmosphere without feeling overwhelming, and I've always enjoyed the energy of the crowd. It's easy to see why so many artists stop here when they want a more intimate show. Overall, it's a solid venue for what I go for.

I have also seen some benefit concerts and auctions that are always great fun. The vibe here is great. There are two levels. Tables scatterd on the first floor, and a balcony on the second with more tables and a bar. Often when I come, the place is packed, and people make a seat on the stairs. Which is actually pretty comfortable. Great seats throughout, and awesome acoustics. A hidden gem in the Rice Village area, and one of my favorite places to see a show.

When we visited, there was a little taco stand set up as well. The place was absolutely packed when we went because they were hosting some sort of event with vendors and even a best-dressed fairy costume contest. I've been here for other events where they've had mechanical bulls and all sorts of different activities. It seems like there's always something fun going on. The bartenders were friendly, and while there was a bit of a line to get drinks, it wasn't too bad considering how crowded it was. My one complaint is their strange ID and wristband system. Instead of checking IDs when people walk in, staff periodically come around to groups that are already sitting down and hanging out to check IDs and hand out wristbands. I understand they transition to a 21-and-up bar later in the evening, but the system just feels a little awkward and disorganized. Overall, Axelrad is a really fun bar with a great atmosphere, plenty of seating, and a good selection of drinks. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it as a sports bar since there aren't many TVs, but if you're looking for somewhere to hang out with friends, enjoy some drinks, and maybe catch an event, it's a great option. Drinks are pricy as it's during shows so dont' expect dive-bar prices when you're planning to get your drink on here.
