I wouldn't consider Spring Creek one of the best BBQ places ever, especially since this is Texas, but the food here is still pretty good. Getting your meal is pretty quick and easy considering you go to the counter and pick your cuts and sides. I like to order the ham because it's not something that many BBQ places do very well, and here it is very nicely cooked. Also, the fresh rolls they bring to your table are delicious! My family has done catering here a couple of times and you can get a good amount of food to feed plenty of people for a decent price read more

Being new to Texas, I think my standards for BBQ are most likely lower than the natives... Seattle does a lot of cuisines right, but BBQ just isn't one of them. When I came here, I was amazed at the all you can eat sides, the tasty meats, and the portions! I had a chance to sample a little bit of everything: -ribs -brisket -black pepper sausage -mac and cheese -bbq beans -fresh bread rolls I would say my favorite of the meats were the sausage! Brisket was a bit too fatty for me, but nevertheless, super tender. Ribs were sub par.. nothing special but nothing bad either. The never ending sides was a nice surprise, as who doesn't love anything unlimited?! And while you're seated, someone will come by your table on several accounts asking if you'd like more fresh baked bread rolls. The rolls are super soft and buttery! I didn't get a chance to see what the total of our bill was, but I think when in the area, I would definitely be back to get a quick BBQ fix! read more

I'm a BBQ fan... I went to this place a few months ago before the COVID. I bought sausage and a chicken because the rest didn't look very well... (ribs were like overcooked with too much dark that didn't look like smoke) The sausage was made with too much fat and it was like rubber (literally). If you go to Walmart you can get better quality sausages (70/30). The chicken seasoning was ok, but it was undercooked. I throw away both things when I got home. The employees were telling me I have to pay first before I can see the meat. That was weird...Two days ago I went back to give the place another chance. I went directly to see the meat so I can see what I want. An employee told me I cannot be there and that I have to pay first (same thing from my first visit). He was rude. It is not related to the COVID... they segregate the people to go vs the ones tha order to stay. BBQ is a religion in TX, is a family thing...There's no BBQ spirit at this place... is OVERPRICED, the employees handling the meat don't know what they are doing (they don't know how to cut it... They just opened a location closer to my hood in Sugarland but was up at the Houston Outlets with my girlfriend so we opted (okay I made her...) to stop by this location after her shopping outing. The menu is very straight forward typical BBQ place. Unlimited sides- ehhh... well there's a reason they're unlimited. The beans and green beans I had weren't good enough to go back for seconds. The amount of liquid smoke in the beans was a bit overwhelming. I assume they had a good bit of their bbq sauce in it as well. The meats were moist and were good. The brisket and chicken I had were good not the best but very good nonetheless. One thing that I couldn't get out of my mind- the overwhelming smokey taste of the meats. It was so intense, that I wondered if they were artificially enhanced with the same liquid smoke in the beans?!? I'm not sure but it's very smokey and the smoke ring around the meats didn't seem like they'd support that level and intensity of taste. That's just my opinion tho... The ever important sauce was good but not memorable. No shortage of fresh hot bread. Relentless, tableside service with the bread to boot! Had one despite my efforts to reduce the uneccesary carbs- couldn't help it! Apparently, it's the bread that everyone talks about first when Spring Creek comes up in a discussion. As the director of my bible study class, it falls on me to come up with a choice for lunch each Sunday after class. We hadnt had BBQ in awhile and our area is not short on choices (Carl's, Harris County BBQ, Goode Company, etc), but we had not been to Spring Creek in awhile and someone said they served complimentary Blue Bell vanilla ice cream on Sundays, so sin boldly right? I don't know where in restaurant management school, someone said it would be a good idea for the guys behind the counter of a bbq place to yell out these barely intelligible quotes each time a particular order is uttered, but I got to tell you....its annoying, not endearing...If I wanted to be barked at, I would go to the circus or perhaps Bourbon street. Anyway, the menu at Spring Creek is traditional and this particular day, I decided on the stuffed chopped beef baker....it was a good size but certainly not over sized by some local bbq eatery standards. Service was good and cheerful...kids plates and sides were tasty.....free rolls were never too far away (but seriously, if I am eating my ice cream at the end of a meal...does it make sense to ask me if I want more rolls...not once but twice). The sauce was nothing to write home about but the meats themselves were moist and delicateable..... I think this is chain BBQ at its middle common denominator and certainly you won't be terribly dissapointed with anything you order but in a town with so many outstanding choices, this wouldnt be something you need to do more than once a month or so. read more

In Cypress not much choices for BBQ, spring Creek does a good job on the meat, though I would enjoy the pork ribs in normal cut not St. Louis, you lose a nice big chunk of rib with St. Louis cuts. They do seem to bake /boil/ or serve old leftovers - (Carls BBQ is bad about all three). If it pricey BBQ, but side will keep you full. Imagine my disappointment to see a cup of bbq sauce with scraps instead of the special order chopped beef with extra fat so it would be soft enough for my 85 yr old mother. She had been waiting since Mothers day for her favorite meal. She tried to eat it But couldnt. Her Independence Day was ruined. She is bed ridden an I had hired a caretaker to sit with her while i drove 20 minutes for her meal. Sadly, I have to update my review after a less than satisfying experience. We had planned ahead that we were going to pick up a carry out order for 12 people for Easter for our family to avoid any hassle. I called the previous Friday to see if I needed to place the order ahead of time- I was informed it would be helpful, but not necessary. So I called the next day, Saturday, to place my order for Sunday at 12:30. We expected to be able to pop in and get our order and be on our way to our family gathering with hot, fresh food and ON TIME. We arrived at Spring Creek at 12:25 p.m. and stood in line for takeout. We heard one of the togo workers tell the other there was not a ticket in my name. Turns out, my order was on a table just waiting for the meat to be sliced. A worker went over my sides etc to ensure they were all in the bag. The meat was delivered and sat by the rest of my order so we went to get in line to pay. We were told they didn't have the ticket so we couldn't pay yet? Meanwhile, people are coming and going (people that placed their orders in person after ours- larger orders as well). Eventually we get to pay and are then told we are just waiting on our bread. The young lady working was yelling across to the bread station "18 bread to go" etc so we figured/hoped this wouldn't be a long process. After what seemed like forever I asked about our bread as our food had been sitting on the table for over 20 mins at this point... I am then told and pointed to "Go over to the bread and tell them you are waiting." Ummm.... excuse me? So I mosey over there and explain I have been waiting a while on my order in general and am given a box of bread. I guess I should have been my own advocate and gotten my own bread to begin with. We got in the car and headed to our family gathering after spending 35 minutes waiting on food and being ignored. We were disappointed in the togo service even though we took precautions of ordering ahead of time to ensure this would not happen. I have been to many different spring creeks and this one seems just about the same as the rest of them. They have really good meat. Especially the ribs. The service is exceptionally friendly and they bring around hot bread to the tables which is nice. I also like their green beans and their macaroni and cheese. The tea is good too. In spite of all the good things, I'm not a big fan of cafeteria style restaurants, and the plates are a bit small considering what needs to fit on them. The prices are high in my opinion and I don't like the barbecue sauce that much, although barbecue in general isn't my favorite. My husband and his family would probably give this place 4 stars, especially for the free bluebell ice cream on Sundays. But I just can't quite get there. It's a decent place, nonetheless. read more

i came here while doing the paleo diet (only meats and veggies, no complex carbs or sugars) so keep that in mind as you consider trying this place. i ordered the brisket and got some green beans as my meal. first off, i had no idea it was cafeteria style. you tell them what kind of meat you want and they'll cut you off a piece and put it on your plate. then you scoop up your own sides. i still have no idea how they can tell how much to charge based on how much you can scoop up (if you fill your whole plate with mac and cheese, does that cost you the same as 1 side?). i'm pretty new to texas so i've heard great things about texas brisket. i'd say the brisket was good, but not near the best i've had. granted, i have heard that other places in houston have better brisket, so i wasn't expecting anything mind-blowing. oh man, if i wasn't doing paleo, i would've been all over that free bread they walk around with. fresh from the oven, it smelled delicious. it took every muscle in my body not to say, "yeah, i'll take one" when they came around a couple times and asked if i wanted some. be prepared to have your clothes smell like smoked meat when you leave. or if you're into that sort of thing, stay as long as you like and your clothes will smell like meat for a week. i would recommend this place if you're in the mood for some bbq. i haven't tried too many barbecue places in houston yet. i keep hearing great things about carl's though. that might be the next place i try. read more
