The hubby had the pesto pasta and he couldn't stop raving about it. I chose something lighter with a Caesar salad and crabcakes. The crab cakes were unbelievably good and the Caesar salad dressing was so good too. I definitely recommend this place. Best part is you can either sit outside or inside depending on the weather. Food: We ordered sautéed mushrooms that came with a variety of mushrooms in a flavorful seasoning; some baguettes shrimp pasta; pesto pasta, purses with sage butter (star of the meal!). The mushroom was accompanied with bread which I didn't expect so it was a pleasant surprise. Everything here tasted great - they had some seasonal favorites - we could only try the seasonal wine and it was so refreshing - we ended up with another order of it. Ambience: The outdoor seating was a wooden patio, with fairy lights, green ferns covering the patio, and light music - the ambience is a hit for any tired hiker from the national park (like me) or not, for its calming effect. It felt like the setup to be in to end the night - warm and cosy. Service: The staff was friendly and patient and the service quick. They brought one of the sides of an entree early and willingly took it back until the entree was ready for it to not get cold. Given this wasn't a call out from us, but their own observation - I'd say they did a great job at making us feel cared for and enjoying our meal fresh and warm! Wow super yummy place. Menu is well thought out. I loved the seared ahi tuna. Crab cakes were great. My sons pesto pasta was we very good. Jen liked her kid's chicken fingers. Wife said the roasted chicken was very good. But my favorite part was the Spotted dog red ale beer. So yummy!! Maybe the only thing better than the food was the service. A+. What an amazing dining experience! The food was absolutely incredible, and the service was equally fantastic. Our server was professional, polite, and so friendly, making us feel right at home. Our thoughts on dinner: The "chutney" on the warm Brie was basically melted marmalade, but it was delicious, so no complaints. Delightful beet salad with a huge portion of candied walnuts. Luscious pasta purses with a touch of sweetness from the pear. Wild game meatloaf: fantastic! The bell pepper relish had a perfect mix of sweet and tangy. This was very good on the roasted potatoes, too. The bbq short ribs were the least memorable entrée. They were fine. I appreciated that the restaurant was trying to do something interesting with the "seasonal vegetables" instead of the usual steamed broccoli and carrots. That said, the spaghetti squash and green chickpeas were ok, not exciting. I like my spaghetti squash a little softer than it was here. We tried to make a reservation for dinner but no availability until 8:30pm so we decided to walk in. Perfect, had drinks at the tiny bar and got dinner at 7pm. It's a lovely restaurant with a nice variety of menu items. It was packed on here and I can see why. We found this restaurant as it was within walking distance of our hotel. Luckily, they had a table on their back patio. We had been in Zion all day hiking and didn't eat lunch so we were ready to eat. We ordered a crab cake appetizer as soon as someone came to help us. Delicious! Then we ordered a large Caesar salad to share. There was plenty of salad for two of us. This was also delicious. For dinner, I ordered the braised lamb and my partner ordered the Halibut, which was on special. We absolutely loved everything. It was such a tasty meal. Service was wonderful. Freddy was our waiter and he was extremely friendly and on top of everything. The back patio is next to parking lot, but it was quieter than the street patio. I dined with my parents at Spotted Dog for the first time in October during a trip to visit Zion National Park. I had seen good reviews and noticed that it gets crowded during dinner when I had passed by a few times, so I really had to check it out, and I am very glad that I did! Not only is the restaurant located next to a ridiculously good view, it is also delicious! I am quite surprised at how much I enjoyed it because I truly don't expect to find much by national parks, and much less a place of this caliber, with fresh locally-sourced ingredients, handcrafted, etc. All three of us ordered cocktails, and I ordered a vegetarian pesto pasta dish, while my mom ordered fish and my dad ordered steak. We sampled each other's food, and we all agreed that everything we ordered was great! I am surprised that my parents and I all agreed that we enjoyed it... usually, one of us disagrees, lol! Absolutely delightful. This was the highlight of my trip to Zion. Really. This place stands out in the village as it's the only one that truly offers farm to table selections that are thoughtfully curated and is more upscale than the stereotypical burgers and tacos you find everywhere else. We were visiting for my mother in law's birthday. If you want to sit outside in front of the restaurant it will be an additional wait with a reservation. Luckily they were able to accommodate our dietary needs. Half of our group was vegan and they ordered the vegetarian forage which was cooked with oil instead of butter to make it vegan. My husband ordered lamb shank not on current menu but it was ok .. wasn't juicy and most likely just cooked in the oven rather then in a stew. It was not tender or flavorful I like my ahi steak but the quality of ahi was cheap. It was seared perfectly the avo mango salsa gave good acidity as with cheap ahi there isn't much flavor. If you're in Springdale, do yourself a favor and head to Spotted Dog. This was easily the best dinner I had all month. I came here for a birthday dinner two weeks back after a thrilling day of hiking the Narrows and was thoroughly impressed. The duck breast I ordered was beautifully cooked and perfectly topped with a prickly pear gastrique. My party's dishes were all wonderful, too. I was especially impressed with the fact that the wild game meatloaf was not gamey at all. When we ordered dessert, we were so impressed that our wonderful server remembered that it was my birthday. My friend had only mentioned it in passing, and not fully directed to her, when we asked for a table! The creme brulee was delectable -- with the perfect spoon crack and burst of vanilla flavor -- while the lava cake was super rich, which made the side of berries nice. Couldn't have asked for a better mountain view either. Plus, while reservations were all booked, we got a seat as soon as we walked in around 7 p.m. during the summer season. This is a great dinner spot in Springdale, not only because of the beautiful view of the mountains in the outdoor seating, but also the affordable entrees made with local and seasonal ingredients. Overall, I thought the food was good for being near Zion, since amazing restaurants are not always expected near National Parks. Artichoke Dip w/ Pita Chips (seasonal appetizer): This dip was so creamy and delicious and I actually enjoyed the pita chips more than I expected. Red Trout: The fish was pepita encrusted and I loved the texture of the dish. The red trout tasted very similar to salmon to me, which may have been because of the color. I didn't really like how it paired with the rice, since it made the overall dish dry, but I thought the fish was great. Wild Game Meatloaf: Tasted like a typical meatloaf, but we were super intrigued that it had elk, buffalo, and beef.
