this is a beautiful place, while I went my family this would be a perfect date night spot. we wanted to sit on the patio without reservations and the wait was 15 minutes and we were welcome to sit at the bar while we waited. I loved there drink menu, and options to choose from. I ordered the pesto pasta and added chicken, it was good definitely wish I would of put some seasoning on it but nonetheless. 8/10 the service was impeccable, everyone then made sure that we got what ever we wanted, our waitress checked in on us multiple times. the dessert will live in my mind for the next year, I had a creme brûlée. We ate here last night after a long day in the park. Absolutely fabulous! It has been a while since I experienced such a treat. Everything is on point. The service is friendly and genuine. Passionate peeps that make you feel welcome. The ambiance is homey. The food is just nothing short of delicious. It is one of those few times I would just want to go hug the chef for creating wonderfully balanced dishes that are wonderfully balanced in flavors. We had the yummy crab cakes. Then the Pesto Pasta with pine seeds and basil that was everything it should be with parmesan grated at the table to your liking. You can choose to add a protein. I chose grilled chicken. Then we tried the day special was Bison Medaillon with pine nut couscous and zucchini-squash spaghetti. See picture. I love it cooked "bleu" (rare) and let me tell you the meat was super soft and the cuisson was perfectly executed. The all natural Water Canyon Winery red wine 2023 Field blend went perfectly with our meal. Every bite of everything I ate was humming from the pleasure of experiencing the mouth wateringly deliciousness. To top it all off with desert we took the homemade cheese Cake with raspberry coulis and an Affogato (ice cream with espresso coffee). Great food, service and atmosphere. It is located in the Flannigan's hotel, which can be confusing when you are looking for the menu online. My husband had the Buffalo/Elk/Beef Meatloaf and I had the lamb shank. I won. The mushroom sauce, and the fingerling potatoes with the lamb... yummyo. We also started with the Brie cheese and chutney appetizer and a field salad. Would do both again. It's nice people watching anywhere touristy in Utah. The range of dress attire for dinner, from Colorado looking, Subaru driving, Tevas sandal wearing, hike-a-lot people to normal people who, you know, dress for dinner. Looking through all the cool restaurants on Yelp near Zion National Park we found this one that caught our interest. We started off with a pitcher of their spotted dog amber ale and it really hit the spot. Our appetizer was the smoked trout and their homemade mustard. This was oh so good, with tender pieces of trout, fresh bread slices and the mustard. What a happy combo, when you put it all together. For the main entree' I had the trout covered in a pepita crusted batter. Great flavor and very tasty. I was stuck trying to decide between their elk, buffalo and beef wild game meatloaf and the trout. Our Server Freddy, highly recommended the trout and i'm glad I went with his advice. For dessert it was between the creme brûlée and the homemade cheesecake and again, Freddy came to our rescue and we went with the cheesecake. Very light and fluffy, but still had plenty of body. Great service and unique, delicious food and drinks. Loved the floradora cocktail. My husband's dark and storm was way too sour but they gladly remade it and the 2nd time was just right. I opted for the trout which was phenomenal and my husband got the lamb shank which was honestly the best lamb I've ever tasted. So tender, moist, and with none of the funk you sometimes get with lamb. The side of peas and wild rice were also surprisingly delicious, being well-seasoned and buttered. The roasted carrots were too firm though. For dessert, my husband is a crème brûlée connoisseur so he had to get that and I went for the gluten-free chocolate cake. My cake was rich with good flavor but a tad dry. My husband said the crème brûlée was perfect though. One of the best he's ever had. Generously flaked with vanilla beans, a nice thin shatterable crust, and thick creamy custard just the right temperature. We'll definitely be back! read more

While on vacation visiting Zion, wanting have dinner as close to Zion as possible, I found this place on yelp. It looked like they had homemade food and we love that. Much to our surprise, not only was it homemade but they elevated the menu! Our server Anna, was amazing, professional and so sweet. We had everything we needed at all times plus some. Before ordering she described the specials and I immediately wanted to order it. She took our orders, offered her opinions and was overall pleasant to have come to our table. We actually didn't plan on having dessert but after listening to her describe one of them, we ordered it. It was a lemon sponge cake of sorts and was gone within seconds between the four of us. The food was delicious. We started with their house pita bread with a tomato type of sauce. OMGOSH was it good. The table started with the crab cakes which were full of crab and tasty as heck. We then ordered the Soup Du Jous which was to die for! We asked what was in it (we tried it cause it was a special) and it was a yellow curry. That was my first time eating curry and I hope that it's all that delicious from now on. My partner ordered the braised lamb shank as well as my sons bff. I ordered the seared tuna special and my son ordered the spaghetti and meatballs. Not a single complaint from any of us and there were no left overs on any plates. Visited this place recently when visiting Zion. Came here after a long hike to escape the heat. Great scenery inside. Our server was great, terrific customer service. When we were seated the hostess asked whether we wanted tap or bottled water. I thought they were going to give the three of us our own separate bottles but they came with this tall fancy bottle. Was not expecting that at all. Ordered the wild game meatloaf and it was phenomenal. Great presentation and even better food. The tomatoes had a sweet taste to them which was something new. Fabulous food and wonderful service. Our waiter told us he had previously worked at fine dining restaurants in Vegas and it showed. Very personable and had great recommendations. We picked the place bc it had the same name as our favorite pub in Hertfordshire, and it was my son's milestone birthday. It was well presented​ and tasted even better than it looked. * Brie Wedge: The brie was nicely warm and easily spreadable. The orange chutney was delectably sweet​ and blended perfectly with the brie. I had this as my main entree and I could easily have it repeatedly. *. Red Trout: Very fresh, and liked the crust. I was so glad we decided to have dinner at The Spotted Dog, it ended up being one of my favorite places to eat in Zion. I thought the bill was going to be really expensive, but honestly it was comparable to most things in the area and the food was so much better. I had the red trout and it was delicious. With not much to choose from we sure did pick right. After a nice long day of hiking we headed over to The Spotted Dog for dinner. So happy we did, it was excellent. We started off with the Baked Shrimp Scampi, it was very good. My wife then went with the Pesto w Chicken and loved it. While I dined on the Wild Game Meatloaf (beef, elk and bison). Incredible. We loved our dinner here. We could see the beautiful Zion views out the windows. Our server, Anna, was just lovely. We shared a salad with beets and a citrus stressing that was tasty. But the highlight of the night was the pasta entree that I ordered, Purses with Sage Butter. Delicious pasta sacks filled with pear and ricotta sitting in sage butter topped with crunchy toasted almonds. Such a wonderful combination! The food is five star. It was amazing. The venue itself is beautiful, warm comfortable, welcoming setting the service was impeccable.

The 3 stars are for the service. The food on the other hand was a different story. We ordered a few items but what really stood out was the dinner size cesar salad. This was the worst example of this dish I have ever had. There is also a bread service that really wasn't that good. We also ordered a pasta dish that while good, came out cold. Our server took the Cesar off the bill thankfully, even though I didn't ask her to. I ate at other establishments in the area where I had better experiences. Acccording to some other reviews, people enjoy this place. Maybe we ordered the wrong items. Not sure if we will try this place again on our next visit. read more

We came here after a day of hiking in Zion National Park. It was recommended by the hotel that we were staying in. There is plentiful outdoor and indoor seating, but I'd still recommend making a reservation, so you don't have to wait for a table. We were seated in the patio area behind the restaurant. It was awesome having a mountainscape backdrop to our meal. They have some delicious cocktails and a lengthy wine list. I really enjoyed their Old Fashioned and High Desert Breeze. For food, I had a mixed greens salad and short ribs entree. Although not mind-blowing, both tasted good and were sufficiently hearty. This seems to be a very popular spot. It opens at 5pm and when we got there we had a 45 min wait. It was worth it though! My husband ordered a few local beers and 2 old fashioneds. He's very picky with old fashioneds and he loved them. I ordered an aperol spritz and a glass of cab sauv. Both were very good. We also got the special...a filet mignon with potato croquette and carrots. It was truly amazing. The potatoes have onions in them, which if I knew I would've requested it to be made without them. Love this restaurant! Ate here for dinner over the weekend while visiting Zion and the service and food were great! We sat outside during Covid with a beautiful mountain view. I had the spaghetti and meatballs for dinner. Meatballs were huge! A lot of pasta and the portion was big! Could barely finish! Others in my group had the fish, steak and lamb. We were all impressed by the food and presentation. My old fashioned was a little weak though and in a small glass. Would skip on this drink next time. Prices are great for the quality of food! Came here during our family vacation. Have to say, our family was quite impressed when we walked inside to eat dinner. The outside is not that amazing BUT when we walked in, it looked pretty darn fancy! (You do not need to dress fancy to eat here). We sat down at our table and the menus were placed under the glass that way you didn't have to touch it with your hands (Covid). A nice little touch to things! I ordered a Moscow Mule to start and the wifey ordered the same. Drinks came out and they seemed a bit smaller than the normal copper/bronze mugs. We paid $12 per drink and maybe felt we got jipped a bit, BUT they were delish! We ordered the caprese next and the sautéed mushrooms for our appetizers. Both were delicious but the sautéed mushrooms were incredible! Super garlic flavored, the best!!! Dinner orders: I ordered the meatloaf and the wife got the pesto pasta with chicken. We loved our meals and would order them again. Highly recommend those two dishes. Overall the Spotted Dog was a wonderful experience! A must visit if visiting Zion. Negatives: 1. iIt was about 100 degrees outside and they had a couple of cracked doors/windows open. This caused quite a few flies inside and they were attacking our food (it whats they do right haha). Due to it being almost 100 degrees outside, it got quite HOT inside the restaurant which made it a bit uncomfortable. Don't know if the window/doors things was because of Covid but social distancing was definitely taken place so I feel the doors could have been closed to make it a more cooler environment. read more

There were only 4 very small pieces of beets and it did not have the same presentation as the photo, no finely cut garnish. I really would have preferred more beets. This restaurant blew me away completely. Not just because it is right out of Zion National Park, but the food is local, the service is fantastic, and the views are perfection. We came to the Spotted Dog right after a long hike in Zion. Luckily we parked right next to the restaurant. Once seated, the sunlight started to fade and soon we were bathed in the light of the stars. We ordered the crab cakes, the meatloaf, and the pasta purses. Definitely recommend ordering what's on the regional dishes menu. Each dish was so special on its own. The crab cakes were the best I've had. They come fresh out of the kitchen: warm, crunchy, mostly crab! The pasta purses were the most unique dish by far. They are filled with cheese and pear. The pear really adds a nice sweetness to the dish. We took the bread they served it with and swept all the delicious sage butter from the bottom. The meatloaf was a solid choice too. Slightly gamy and very flavorful. 10/10 recommend. The server Dave convinced us to get the lava cake with ice cream ala mode. The cake was almost too sweet but paired with the ice cream it was perfection. Give this place a chance! read more

After a very long day hiking, came here for a wonderful meal. Sat outside in the back, which was a parking lot, but they converted to outdoor seating. Started with the Floradora and the Rye Mule. Both were good. Ordered the Brie appetizer, Wild Game meatloaf, and Pasta Purses. Everything tasted great. Finished with the Desert Breeze and Rye Old Fashioned drinks and Creme Brulee for dessert. This place is pretty exceptional - during our first visit, we ordered the Grilled Mushrooms and the Caesar salad for appetizers. We also had the Braised Lamb Shank and the Wild Game Meatloaf - both of which were epically tasty. We had such a great experience that we ended up coming back a second night during our stay. This time we ordered the Red Trout and the Coffee Rubbed Beef Short Ribs. I'd skip the Red Trout though because it was pretty underwhelming. The service staff both nights was great! The ambiance of the restaurant is nice - and with COVID the seating is spaced out a bit and everyone was wearing masks. The waiter we had was very friendly, but there was a hair in our water jug with the lemon. They gave us a bottle of sealed/imported water instead. Food was good, but a bit overpriced for what it was. The chicken in the pesto pasta ($19) seemed pre-cooked and rubbery...like they bought it in bulk and kept it in the fridge to toss in. I liked the Red Trout ($19), but the blackberry sauce that came with it was too sweet and not sure if it paired well (personal opinion). The trout was huge but wished that there where more vegetables on the plate. The salad was a big portion and the flavor was there but the chicken was rather dry. = Overall happy with the food as it wasn't greasy, big portions and we even had a little bit of leftovers. The Bad: - No reception and no WiFi available - The service. We got assigned one waitress who seeded us and took our order. Somebody else brought our food and since then we didn't see anybody anymore checking up on us. The same waitress who seated us gave us the payment system, at first she didn't look but then I saw her peeking, this is unacceptable. Short review: Good food, bad service. read more
