    Waiting for our table.

I like their special meatloaf created out of special ground proteins, brilliantly cut potato and cute carrots. HUGE square of meat with a red pepper topping. I also enjoyed the buttery but not heavy purse plate. The beautiful sauce never congealed or tasted too overwhelming. I know it was a rich plate but I felt happy and not weighed down after devouring it. I added their marvelous snappy shrimp to it. By the way, these are large servings. I loved sitting next to a happy bloke portrait with a blue top hat! Lots of wines. Local beer selections. Good location. Make a reservation to be safe. Professional servers and bus-men. Check-in with the hostess. Enjoy!

Perhaps the best burger of my life: meet the Flanigan burger. It is a mixture of wagyu beef, elk, and bison. I had a small amount of mayo and ketchup on top, but the meat was so flavorful and juicy that it doesn't need a condiment. The servers and host are high-end and attentive. So glad we were able to stop here on our trip to Zion.

This restaurant was between our hotel and Zion National Park. From the outside, I didn't expect the inside to be a huge space. The inside has a warm and cozy vibe, one you feel after a tiring day's hike. Kohl our server, is very nice. He upgraded my Caesars Salad into a dinner size. Dishes were good but could be better, some hits and some misses. We had: *Smoked Beef Short Ribs: short ribs were a bit dry and smothered in BBQ sauce. Side of spaghetti squash a bit too salty. *Purses with Sage Butter: pasta dish topped with shrimp, probably the best tonight *Grilled Ribeye: a bit overcooked, under seasoned.

We were recommended Spotted Dog from another guest at our hotel after hiking around Zion for dinner, and it was a bit of a letdown (though the person we heard it from hyped it up). We snagged a table without a reservation, but food took a long time to come out. Close to 20 minutes for our appetizers: the crab cakes. The entrees took a little longer than that. Place has lots of seating, and only was around 75% full when we arrived for a late dinner. Servers were friendly, which was great. The place was pretty noisy, maybe with the acoustics chatter carried quite a bit. The crab cakes were decently sized (around a hockey puck or so) but the exterior was more mushy than I would have liked. I had the Flanigan's Burger, which was your usual solid burger. Other folks in my party enjoyed their food, especially the trout and the pasta dishes.

We showed up without a reservation and had about a 30 minute wait. The waiting area is pretty crowded, so try to make a reservation ahead of time if you can. We ordered the grilled chicken, the meatloaf, and kids chicken tenders with fries. The grilled chicken was pretty dry but it had good flavor. The roasted potatoes and broccolini were tasty. The wild game meatloaf was really unique. It came with the same sides of roasted potatoes and broccolini. We also ordered a baguette on the side but for $4, five little slices of baguette felt kind of expensive and the sauce that came with it wasn't our thing. It was like a cold balsamic marinara. My child enjoyed her chicken tenders and fries. The restaurant was crowded but well decorated with a pretty vaulted ceiling and cool light fixtures - it definitely gave it a cozy bustling pub vibe. We enjoyed it!

Another awesome dinner at the Spotted Dog! One of fav spots for our local date night. Anna was amazing. Arrived at 5:30 immediately seated and treated with a warm smile. My husband had the burger which had wagyu beef, bison, and boar. It was served with fries. Delicious and hot satisfying. I had the lamb shank...drop the mic...wow! Highly recommend. Tender fall off the bone drizzled with brown gravy, new potatoes, seasoned shredded squash and broccoli. Perfectly matched with a beautiful Chardonnay from France. If you want great food in Springdale with consistent results. This is your place! My only regret...no room for dessert Enjoy!

Rocky Mountain Red Trout with Tallow Fries and Wild Rice.

If you are ever in Springdale you NEED to come to the Spotted Dog for dinner. This was a great experience. The brie cheese is a must for appetizers. The cheese is very subtle, not too overpowering, and the orange chutney just tops it all off. It also comes with cherries, bread, and apples. We both got the Rocky Mountain red trout, and let me tell you, that's the best fish I've ever had. The trout comes with wild rice and seasoned vegetables. I subbed the vegetables for the tallow fries and my grandmother just kept the two sides. The rice has good flavor, and the tallow fries aren't too soft hot and crispy. They're cooked trout also comes with a blackberry compote. What you do is you dip some of your trout in the compote, and that just tops the fish. Considering how good the food was, we wanted to try dessert. I had the lemon cake and my grandmother had the raspberry cheesecake. The lemon cake is light and refreshing, and my grandmother really liked her cheesecake as well. Besides how good the food was, service is also amazing. Our server was super friendly, and happened to be from the same area we're from! The view is amazing from the restaurant (obviously) and there is also patio seating. If you're in Springdale looking for a good dinner restaurant, this is the place to go. Make sure you make reservations.

This is Day #2 of our dining experience at the Spotted Dog and let me tell you they did an even better job tonight than they did last night. Ambiance was perfect since we got there a little before the rush. We were able to have Kohl as our server since Anna was not there tonight. Tonight the chef had the dessert sampler ready for us and it did not disappoint. The chocolate cake was Devine!!! And what makes it even more amazing was that this is a gluten free chocolate cake. Decadent and not sinful. I had the Flanagan burger which was wonderful. The burger is a mixed protein patty-wagyu, elk, wild boar, and another wild protein that escapes me as I write this but the sauce the bun and fries made this burger the best I've eaten on a long time. Wife had the smaller portion Caesar salad with sautéed shrimp which was the perfect portion and perfect melding of flavors. I regret we will be leaving tomorrow but I would not hesitate eating there every night. Anna, Kohl, James, and the Chef bent over backwards for us and I will recommend Spotted Dog with glee and gusto!! Mahalo!! Kealii

This is where it's at! While visiting Zion, we found most restaurants in Springdale serve alot of rice, beans, potatoes and bread. There's not alot of fresh ingredients being offered. This place was different than the rest. And it's one of only a few, that can serve alcohol. Most places only offer beer and wine. We split a Field Blend Salad to start. I ordered the Pesto Pasta and a Cosmopolitan and my husband had a Dirty Martini and the Strip Steak special. Cocktails were perfect and our meals were delicious. Plenty of indoor seating, however the outdoor patio is very popular and filled up first. If you want to ensure you've got a great meal after a day in the park, make a reservation.

Gorgeous restaurant with amazing service, easy parking, and good prices. Chef loves to serve Ahi Tuna when he can get it fresh. My Bostonian wife gave it high praise. A little surprise being so far from Tuna waters. Robert's was a great piece of beef. Phone ate first. Cowboy butter is real. Don't give me butter with a few herbs. This had the huge flavor it's meant to be. (Cooked rare) All in our favorite spot for dinner on this trip.

Super cute place right on the Main Street in Springdale on the shuttle service route. Food was excellent and presentation was fabulous. Our group ordered a mix of fish dishes, the meatloaf, chicken and pasta dishes. Everyone left a clean plate! Our water, Kohl, was very knowledgeable about the menu and super friendly. He even reminded us the tip was included due to the size of our party. Not every waiter would be transparent about that.

We went back again on Wednesday night after our Narrows hike as a little treat before heading home Thursday. It was even busier that night, but the power team of Gabriel, Ethan, and Tristin was on deck. Gabriel and Ethan's hustling orders left and right. One thing to note is that the chips and salsa are ordered separately, and the queso is an added extra charge on top of that. For our meals, we ordered the special swordfish taco and the carne asada tacos. Both proteins lacked flavor and were heavily covered with pineapple salsa, which overpowered everything else. The tacos themselves were very bland and desperately needed salt. Once we added salt, they became much more enjoyable. The same went for the rice and beans -- both were pretty flavorless until seasoned. The highlight of our experience was Jimenez (Hopefully I'm spelling his name correctly) who did a great job handling a very busy bar section. Service was attentive despite how packed it was, and we appreciated that. Overall, the food just did not meet expectations, especially for the price point. Sadly, Bit & Spur would be a hard pass for us if we return to Springdale.

We were on a trip celebrating our anniversary and we were offered complimentary dessert to help us celebrate after dinner. Even though we were stuffed, we took our waiter up on his offer. The burgers themselves were actually good -- the bison burger was flavorful and thankfully not dry, which can sometimes happen with bison. The fries, however, tasted like they had been sitting out for a while. I ordered the elk chop because I had never tried elk before and was excited for the experience. Since I was unfamiliar with how elk is typically prepared, I trusted our server to guide us if needed. Unfortunately, our server -- an older gentleman with glasses and thinning hair -- seemed rushed from the start. He avoided eye contact, took our order hastily, and never once asked how I wanted the elk cooked. When the food arrived, the outside of the elk looked fine, but the center was extremely raw. At first I assumed maybe that was simply how elk is prepared. It wasn't until I overheard the table behind us ordering the same dish and being asked how they wanted it cooked that I realized we had never been given that option. I looked up elk preparation on my phone and learned it is commonly served medium rare because it's such a lean meat. I called the waiter over and explained that my chop was raw in the center. He looked at it and said, "Yup, that's raw." I mentioned that he never asked how I wanted it cooked, and he offered no response or apology. He simply asked, "Anything else?" took the plate, and walked away. As he was leaving, he turned around and casually asked if I wanted another chop. At that point, the poor attitude and lack of service had already ruined the experience. My mother even commented that she felt we were treated differently. To make matters worse, when he returned with our expensive bill, he never checked on us again or even offered dessert. The food itself had potential, but the service completely overshadowed the meal. We left disappointed and wishing we had spoken to a manager before leaving. But wilL never visit this establishment again. There's other option. It was convenience since we were staying inside Zion lodge. We dined with them on May 23 at 745 pm reservation we eat inside since they were closing the outside at 8 pm.
