Came here for my birthday while visiting Zion. It was just warm enough to sit outside with the heaters and the view was amazing. Our salad was delicious and we got prickly pear lemonade - it was tasty but very pricey. My husband got the meatloaf and that was DELICIOUS! I got the duck and it was very chewy and not very flavorful. The service and ambiance we great so definitely would recommend checking out. read more

This restaurant is a wonderful hidden gem! Fine dining, superb service, in a casual atmosphere. Our cocktails were spot on, our server, Romero made us feel we were dining in an upscale restaurant, with his wonderful attention and hospitality. I had the duck breast which was done perfectly and was tender and delicious. Vegetables were not too crunchy, not too soft, just perfect. My husband had the shrimp pasta, also delicious. Accompanying wines were great. We finished with the lava cake with raspberry sorbet, Kelley helped Romero with this recommendation and she did a wonderful job. The food was great but the service left something to be desired. My wife mentioned that it was my birthday and asked for a table with a good view when making the reservation. Upon arrival the hostess sat us at the table with the worst view of the mountains even though there were a number of open tables with better views. She said something like you can see the mountains if you make a little effort. My wife insisted on changing tables so they gave us a table with a better view. The waiter didn't know it was my birthday, my wife had to tell him, and he just said happy birthday sir. He never asked us how our meals were and it wasn't the special experience I would expect from a highly rated restaurant. The busboy was the most personable one that night. He asked if we were going to change tables and how the dessert was. Not sure if it was just us but the wait staff engaged better with some of the other customers. read more

The Spotted Dog is a great cafe located in Springdale, UT. In the area, there are not a significant number of restaurants, but this restaurant could stand on its own in nearly any city. From friendly service to an outstanding food menu, The Spotted Dog was a great stop for me and my family during our trip to Zion. I ordered the pasta dish with ricotta pictured below. It was absolutely delicious, although a bit sweet. I definitely would recommend to add chicken to make it a complete meal (although the upcharge is a bit steep for what you get) We also shared the bread pudding for dessert. Not the best I've had, but no slouch of a dessert either. Overall, we had a great experience. Bottom line, The Spotted Dog is one of the better restaurant experiences we had in the area. read more

Our first dinner on our trip to Zion was at the Spotted Dog Cafe, one of the more popular sit-down restaurants in Springdale. They are probably better at meat and pasta dishes, as the two fish entrees we had fell a bit short. Service from our main waiter Chencho was superb, as were all the others who brought food and drink. Ironically there were two hostesses and we got the one who was in a bad mood. No smile, and seemed irritated with us. The other hostess (who I wished we got) was charming and dressed in a full, form-fitting Batgirl body suit with a cape! She was a true superhero bringing joy to the dining hall and carrying chairs overhead from one section to another. The appetizers were probably the highlights of the dinner. The free bread was a thin, chewy flatbread that went well with their dip, a tomatoey-peppery-vinegary dip. New England Crabcakes were large and virtually all crab with no filler and also had a nice sweet-sour sauce. Parsnip cream soup with truffle oil was rich and sweet and can serve two people easily. We both ordered fish entrees to take a break from meat, but both fell short on execution. My wife got the Blackened Sea Bass and while the crust was well seasoned the rest of the fish was under-seasoned. The saffron rice had zero flavor as well. She actually had to add salt to the dish which is a rarity. My salmon had the opposite issue. Shiitake Polenta Cake had plenty of flavor, but I found the fish itself to be somewhat bland and the roasted carrots and Brussels sprouts to be soft but cold. Overall, we probably should have stuck with the meat dishes. For dessert, we shared the strawberry-topped panna cotta which was one of the lighter options. Pretty good. Would definitely consider coming back on a future trip. I'll probably try their elk-buffalo-beef meat loaf. Also, It would have been so cool to be hosted by Batgirl! read more

Decided to stop here as our last dinner in the park and Im glad we did because the food was pretty good compared to other restaurants in the area. The pesto pasta with delicious and huge portion, we also got the hummus plate which was absolutely delicious due to the fresh veggies. The short rib was a little tough for our liking but over all would still recommend this place. Staff was amazing and made us feel so welcomed and the view on the patio was impeccable. read more

Prices were around 17-25 range, but the food was good. I got the ahi tuna steak, which was cooked nicely and well seasoned. My dad ordered the lamb, which I think was the best.. the meat was super tender. Anna was absolutely lovely and on-point, and Jeffery gave me not just great a conversation and recommendations about wine, but also the perfect route to take to maximize beauty coming out of here to the east (Hwy 12). The wine list is crazy. The food is delicious (I had the short rib -- a barbecue-flavored bargain at roughly $25 -- and paired it with the Chateauneuf-du-pape). And, I mean, it's hard to beat the ambience. You're practically inside of Zion, and it feels casual but elevated. Highly recommended. And 10 percent off your meal (but not your expensive wine ) if you stay at Flanigan's, which I also definitely recommend. read more

Spotted dog cafe takes reservations which is why we decided to dine here in Christmas Eve (they were fully booked for Christmas Day) We started with the crab cakes and the beet salad. Lovely little restaurant located within Flanigan's Inn (also open to visitors not staying at the lodge). The outdoor patio is perfect for taking in the beautiful Zion views. We were told our wait would be about 30 minutes for a party of 2, but we ended up being seated much more quickly. Definitely opt for outdoor seating, if you want to take advantage of the vistas around you! Cocktails were surprisingly good (and a bit more stiff than I thought they would be). While you're not getting anything artisanal, these are good, basic cocktails perfect for whetting your appetite. Food was good. I enjoyed the red trout entree and lamb shank, which was perfect to share between two people. My only quibble would be that the food was a bit bland and could have benefited from more seasoning, i.e. salt, but was fine without. Shout-out to excellent service from our waiter Ramiro! The "house bread" served is like a flatbread, and comes with a dip of all my favorites: roasted tomatoes, garlic, balsamic vinegar, olive oil. YUM. They have their own beer and we had a pitcher of the amber ale. Pretty good and not too hoppy! I sampled the mediterranean salad with smoked trout. The trout was smoky and not overly salty. The meatball in the spaghetti & meatballs was all right. The penne pesto with chicken was pretty good. I ordered a house salad which was fresh and decent, as well as the pasta napolean. We learned a few things on our family trip to Utah. 1) Things close early, 2) Things are more expensive , and 3) Menus are shorter than what I'm used to. These observations are purely neutral - and don't reflect on our experience at Spotted Dog which we visited on recommendation from a local in Springdale, Utah. First, I'll say Springdale is SO quaint and easy on the eyes. There's a healthy mix of boutique stores, local art, coffee shops / cafe, and non-chain restaurants - Spotted Dog being one of them. The venue has indoor and outdoor seating and a very cozy (picture a cobblestone fireplace with artwork on the walls) larger seating area. The wait staff was super attentive, helpful, and engaging with our kiddos. Meal presentation was visually pleasing as was the overall ambiance. Servings for the kiddos was generous. My daughter ate the kids spaghetti with a GINORMOUS meatball. She said, "This meatball is getting in the way of my noodles!!" So hubby and I shared the meatball; it was a delicious mix of ground beef and sausage - super big (enough to split between two) and savory. My son had spaghetti noodles with butter - and it tasted like that. My ONLY reason for 4 stars is that while the presentation of my dish was beautiful, the taste was a bit bland... I so wanted it to taste the way it looked. Everyone else, however, really liked their meals. I'd come back and try a different dish....like the meatloaf made with wild game. read more

Began with the prickly pear margarita, tasty and seasonal, house salad (the citrus dressing was a perfect blend, delicious!), and pocket pasta well balanced with brown butter, sage, green onions, seasoned perfectly. Trash honestly. It was my birthday breakfast and the only question I asked was on whether or not the bacon was crispy on the breakfast sandwich. I was told yes and then when my sandwich came, it wasn't only NOT crispy, it wasn't even cooked. Then when I asked to have it redone, instead of taking my plate to make me a new one, they had me keep my gross uncooked bacon, and just brought out a sausage patty so I could reassemble my sandwich myself? Came here during our first rainy night in Zion. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food we had! My boyfriend and I split the Brie appetizer and absolutely loved the combination of flavors - we didn't drink, but it would've paired so well with a white wine! I had the vegetarian forage - do not sleep on this dish! It was really really delicious and exceeded my expectations.
