Today we stopped by hungry goat. We ordered two pulled pork sandwiches and a brisket protein bowl, and a potato salad. To be honest, we were really hungry after hiking Zion NP, so anything other than trail mix would have been a welcomed dinner. We ordered around 6:20, and there was no one else there, probably because they close at 7pm. Service was fast and friendly, but I was a bit disappointed with the brisket bowl: the brisket was fatty and the bowl lacked any fresh ingredients (the "roasted" veggies in the bowl tastes like they came from a can). We ate out on the deck, and you really can't match the views. Glad we fueled up before heading back to our campsite. Overall, a decent meal for what we paid.

First off, amazing views. That alone is the reason we chose this restaurant. The food was good. Staff were very friendly and gave recommendations. Bbq was amazing!

This is a great place for a quick and healthy lunch break they have sandwiches and protein bowls. I don't normally like bowls for my meal but this was excellent! For our first trip to Utah and Zion, the Hangry Goat was a perfect spot after a day in the park. I had the pulled pork sandwich, it was delicious. The pork was soft and moist, not overly sauced. My kids loved the Mac and Cheese. My wife really enjoyed the BBQ chicken bowl along with the potato salad. I will definitely eat here again. read more

I would never have thought a breakfast sandwich could taste so bad. A dry bland bagel topped with a fake looking egg disc, tasteless sausage patty, and a thin slide of cheddar. My husband had a breakfast bowl that looked like something out of the freezer section. I know it's hard to find great food at a National Park, but you can definitely do better than this. read more

We came here because someone in our party was craving some bbq. Little did we know the food was mainly out of a turbo chef oven. Expensive for what you get. We ordered to go, placing a large group order. When we got there they tried to package it all together instead of group by group as the order stated. Not worth it in my opinion. read more

I got the pulled pork sandwich and my boyfriend got the brisket sandwich, both came with a dill pickle. I also got the mac and cheese side. My pulled pork was disappointingly dry. The brisket sandwich was infinitely better and that's what I would recommend! I didn't get it due to bad reviews but it was mouthwatering. The Mac and cheese was a pass, not that good. read more

Decent, quick meal on a hiking day. The brisket was fattier than I like, but fine. They have brisket, pulled pork, or chicken. The bowl is great hiking fuel--lots of black beans, with a little rice and quinoa, and some corn which we didn't live in the bowl. More drink options would be nice--it's really just fountain soda. We had a great time at the Hangry Goat. Very polite staff and the food was delicious. You couldn't have a more beautiful view while you eat too. There is limited seating under the patio (only 4 tables) but chairs lined up facing the mountains. Oooof. Not the best first experience at The Hangry Goat... The kid who made the breakfast sandwich was wearing a baggy hoodie and it kept touching the food...We tried to say something but he was completely unaware. We asked if we could fill our water bottles and he accidentally filled them with iced tea. The sandwich wasn't great. It wasn't bad but I think we would've been happier getting fast-food breakfast. However, the vibe is pretty fantastic. So despite the less-than-positive service, we still enjoy the views. read more

The BBQ chicken bowl was amazing but thought the portion sizes were a bit small for the price. The view was incredible though and it was in close proximity to the national park. The seating outside was gorgeous. Also plenty of space to sit inside with comfy seats. Service was great, food came out fast, plenty of parking. Might be harder to enter if there's a long line of cars outside the south entrance gate though. read more

This is one of the more upscale dining spots in Springdale, and I'm glad we stumbled into it. The linguini with mussels and the quinoa salad were both plentiful, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The only miss for me was the Old Fashioned--I prefer mine with a large ice cube--but that's a minor complaint in an otherwise fantastic dining experience. Highly recommended. Funny thing is that it's such a small request that can easily be taken care of immediately. Okay the highlight was the wild game meatloaf which was also the saving grace because I normally don't like meatloaf and this one was really well done. It made up for the dry burger and the average service as well as the so so ambiance, considering everything is quite expensive for a casual dining place.

We visited Oscar's Cafe for lunch after being promised some of the best food in Springdale. We were…read morepretty surprised when we arrived at 11:25 AM and they were still serving breakfast! The waitress explained that their menu switches over to lunch at 11:30. That's certainly one of the latest I've ever seen! At any rate, we were happy to wait the extra 10-15 minute wait for the kitchen switchover. At this point the place wasn't too crowded at all all, and just as promised, we were able to place our order at 11:40. Garlic Burger ($18) - This is a huge plate of food with a mound of fries and one gigantic burger. The burger starts with a soft bun, lightly toasted on both sides, which is then piled up with onion and plenty of piquant pickles, making the burger extra tangy. There's a weak creamy mayo/mustard mixture that soaks the veggies, followed by a giant half pound burger patty on top. It's slightly pink in the center, but is somehow dry. It doesn't have much of a grilled/char flavor, nor much of a beefy flavor either. The patty is large but disappointing in flavor and execution. There's a pitiful spoonful of garlic on top of the patty. It such a small amount it's almost indistinguishable in flavor and texture - in fact, I didn't even know there was any garlic until I deconstructed the burger. That's a very poor showing for a burger with "garlic" in the name. On top of the garlic is a thick slice of melted cheese, more mayo/mustard, a small bed of shredded lettuce (complete with shreds falling out all over even before being brought to our table), and a couple of tomato slices. There's plenty of mayo/mustard sauce for the sandwich, enough to overcome how dry the meat is. The sandwich comes with a choice of regular or sweet potato fries, of which we went with the former. They are standard food service battered fries, not fried long enough to give any coloring to the exterior, making them extra pale and soft. We asked for a side of fry sauce which we found to be thin, watery, and drippy. (2/5) Pork Tamales ($22) - This dish comes with a side salad, which came immediately to the table. It's a pretty large portion for a side salad and includes plenty of romaine, full cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, charred corn, olives, and a pile of shredded carrot in an extremely tangy and slightly sweet dressing. The dressing is both way too acidic and way too watery for my tastes. It's so overdressed that a large puddle of dressing remained after finishing the salad. The tamales aren't very good either. They are doused in a green chile sauce that's only added after being blasted in whatever cooking appliance they use. The masa feels woefully under-steamed. It's quite coarse in texture and is hard, dry, and crumbly. It's so hard it's almost crunchy. The tamales seem to be pan fried on both sides, or perhaps broiled in a salamander for far too long. The green chile inside isn't even that flavorful, making the tamales a bland disappointment. There's a bed of shredded pork underneath the two tamales. The pork is not as far gone as the tamales. It's a little stringy and dry, but still retains at least a minimum amount of moisture. The pork has a pleasing pink/red tinge, but isn't smoky whatsoever. The overall profile doesn't display much in terms of spices, and the flavor of the pork itself isn't my favorite. I have a feeling that this is microwaved food service pork rather than being made in house. On top of everything is a chile verde sauce. It's again not that flavorful, with more acidity than anything else. There's absolutely zero heat - it's one of the most mild green chile sauces I've had. I feel like the dish could be improved a little if they simmered the pork in the green chile to help layer the flavors more. Unfortunately they are clearly cooked and assembled in a modular manner to save on ingredient cost. On the side is brown rice, actually cooked with green chile, and tender black beans that are appropriately salted. (2/5) Tip: If most people are sitting on the patio, I recommend not asking for an indoor seat. We were basically ignored by the waitress after we got our food since we were the only customers sitting inside. Also, get here earlier for fastest seating. By the time we left half past noon, the place was bustling with the entire patio being full of patrons. Oscar's Cafe serves huge portions with mediocre to bad quality. It's definitely a quantity over quality type of place and seems to be catered towards people who are scared of flavor and spices. I certainly would not return. Bathrooms - Single unisex room in the restaurant itself, but there are more in the mercantile area.

Food was average as we enjoyed the Curry Bowl, more than the angel hair pasta with chicken pistachio (see my pics). Curry had a good spice to it, veggies were fresh and good portion size that was sharable.

The entire restaurant was very clean, and there was great attention to detail throughout--not only with the food and presentation, but also behind the bar. I perused Yelp! & saw they have an elk bolognese. Wife wanted to try. I scanned the reviews...the majority opinion seemed to be that the physical space & the view are amazing...the food is good (not great), and the wait staff is lacking. Well, guess what, Yelp!: Yelp! knows what it's talking about. The restaurant itself is gorgeous: clean, luxurious, but not spartan or pretentious. We ordered a draft beer, a glass of wine, an appetizer of assorted Italian bread with olive oil & balsamic. My wife ordered the bolognese & I ordered the fettuccini Alfredo with meatballs. The waiter returned maybe 5 minutes later to let me know that they had to "burp" the keg. I wasn't in a hurry, so I told him to just bring my wife's wine & to bring the beer whenever it was handled. He brought the wine right away. My beer took maybe another 5min: no big deal - I had water & a lovely view to enjoy. Next...the entrees arrived. I asked the runner what happened to our appetizer? He asked what appetizer we had ordered...and returned with a cutting board with 6 slices of bread ($9!). No oil or balsamic. He scampered off as my question "isn't there supposed to be olive oil with this" hung in the air. Annoyed, we began eating our entrees. My wife said the bolognese was far from the best she'd had, but she enjoyed it. As for my Alfredo with meatballs - as chicken meatballs go, these were fine, with a little spicy kick...but were not moist at all. The fettuccini itself was very good - you could taste it despite the rich Alfredo sauce. The Alfredo sauce was above average, but there wasn't nearly enough on the pasta. If I had to guess, it sat under a heat lamp for a few minutes & the fresh fettuccini had absorbed too much of the sauce. The waiter came to check on us. I commented that the bread didn't come as an appetizer...and that I had to ask the runner for it...and that we still didn't have the oil & vinegar to go with it. He seemed crestfallen & said he was going to speak to the manager (or maybe he said owner...not positive). He came back with oil & vinegar. Then a blonde lady with an affected way of speaking came to discuss the Bread Situation. We related what had happened & she apologized. We had a scoop of key lime gelato for dessert - the best tasting thing we had. When the check came, the waiter said "the bread has been taken off your bill...sorry again for that." My wife scanned the bill & replied "no...it's still on here." The waiter took a gander...rolled his eyes...and went to speak with the blonde. He returned & said "I apologize...she says she isn't removing it from your bill. I feel horrible...if you want, I'll pay for the bread." Of course we didn't accept. We settled the bill & left. The decent food just was not worth the lackluster service & prices. Should'a grabbed a pizza & eaten it outside. Live & learn.

The Hangry Goat is an excellent and quick eatery. It's like a barbecue Chipotle, with Texas flair as they get their meat from Austin Blue, a Texas based company. It is a little taste of my home state with a Utah-pian twist. The owner and staff are friendly and the food is FANTASTIC! It will really hit the spot after a hike or two in Zion National Park, and it's located dang near right outside the park entrance. They have a breezeway which has a great view of the mountains and an awesomely relaxing breeze running through it, which will put you to sleep after a long day outside. They have country music playing, but it's NOT obnoxiously loud. You can have a nice conversation discussing what you loved about your trip while you eat and let the events of the day soak in. Also, their parking lot is a pay to park area while they're closed in the morning, so once you come out, you're already right where you want to be to eat and relax! WIN WIN! They have shirts and stickers, which are pretty awesome and funny too. I love this place and we will definitely be coming back here next year. Try this place out! You won't regret it! read more

Not bad BBQ for being in Utah. My wife got the BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich. She wasn't expecting mustard in the Carolina Style BBQ sauce - she was very happy that she got it on the side. She said her sandwich was average. I got the BBQ Pulled Pork Bowl with Chipotle Ranch. The taste of the quinoa did not come through, which was a good thing. Mine meal was tasty and the Chipotle Ranch was delicious. We sat outside and enjoyed the breeze for lunch. I followed the sign and put my basket on the wire rack. Less than 30 seconds later my basket almost made it out to the road with the wind. The service is top notch. You order at the counter, and they call your name after the order has been quickly made. Awesome find for post-hike refuel right outside the Springdale gate of Zion NP. 6 of us had the protein bowls (some w/ chicken, some w/ brisket) over a savory mix of wild rice/quinoa/black beans. Choice of BBQ sauces - the Carolina mustard sauce is terrific on the chicken & as a Carolina native we can attest it is authentic! Setting is great - plenty of shaded outdoor seating for relaxing & people watching. This place is great!!! You won't be sorry you stopped. Service is lovely also - warm & efficient. The "bad" reviews on this site are honestly shocking to me. I've eaten at Hangry Goat a few times now since they opened in April and I am blown away. Views aside, the food is seriously SO GOOD. The Kansas city sauce with the chicken is my favorite, but ive also tried the brisket and pulled pork and they are both really flavorful. They are a "grab n go" place so I can see how people want to compaire them to chains, but the quality of food is something you'd get in a sit down restaurant... if not better. read more

AMAZING place! We stopped in for breakfast three times during our three day stay in Zion, it was that good. Staff was so friendly which really set them apart from others in my opinion. The place was clean and the views were awesome, with indoor and outdoor seating options. We had the sausage egg and cheese bagel and the sausage breakfast bowl, although the sandwiches were our favorite. Cherry on top was the prices were great too. The Hungry Goat was exactly what we needed after a long hike! The food was amazing, especially the beef brisket, which pulled apart so easily and melted in my mouth. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating, but I definitely recommend sitting outside to enjoy the beautiful canyon views. They also sell fun merchandise inside, and the customer service was top notch. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area! read more

Great choice for a lite early dinner or a heartier lunch after hiking in Zion. If you aren't completely exhausted from your day, it is absolutely a reasonable walk from Canyon Village if the bus is taking too long in the afternoon. A good variety of food to satisfy both children (mac 'n cheese) and adults with gluten sensitivity (but not celiac). Might leave those with heartier appetites wanting though. read more
