Yum, I had a great time at Spot coffee last week. Love the layout of this big beautiful coffee shop. Its got many sitting options, from high top tables, barstool/bench, to vintage looking couches and chairs complete with coffee tables. A great place to go and get a little work done - although the wifi was a bit unreliable. I had a great interaction with the barista - he was very helpful and knew the menu well. I ordered pizza, an ice tea, and a side salad. Absolutely delicious and priced well for what I got. There's a HUGE message board at the back full of posters about all sorts of Buffalo related excitement - concerts, festivals, lessons, pet sitting. The bathrooms also have Barbies mounted on the doors (a Ken for the boys, and a Barbie on the girls) - I mean.. is this my kind of kitschy place or what? read more

This place is amazing. The décor and size of this spot coffee location exceeds all of the others. It's always extremely busy but there is plenty of seating including wooden tables and chairs and lounge sofas. The desserts are always phenomenal. Every single thing from the cookies to the cakes. The place that this really fails is the coffee. Their coffee is horrendous. I've tried everything from black coffee to cappuccinos and unless you get pumps of flavor to mask the coffee taste, it's almost impossible to drink. Maybe this is just my taste buds ? Used to be one of my favorite places to go, I've been coming here since 2008 if not longer however the rules and policies and constant turnover rate is just super non customer friendly. My husband and I got an iced white chocolate mocha here and it was super tasty! We enjoy our coffee like my husband's personality...super sweet! Haha:) Ok, corny I know! But really, it wasn't too sweet in our opinion, it tasted just right. Very creamy. The service was very friendly. The interior of the place was very cute and spacious yet cozy. This is more regarding the service than the actual drink. 1. It was a moderately busy Saturday late afternoon and I waited about 5 minutes in line (no complaint) 2. The couple in front of me told me to go ahead of them because they were going to chat with the person at the register (no complaint - that was super nice!) 3 The cashier quickly took my order and I paid and Bam. I recently purchased 2 bags of whole bean coffee. I grind my coffee as needed for my french press. I ground the coffee beans that I had just bought in my coffee grinder, the same one I have always used. The beans were so bone dry that they turned to dust upon grinding. It's probably one of the better tasting coffee I've found in the area. Today I got a chicken feta wrap with a side salad. I've always been a fan of their house dressing. Everything tasted fresh and the chicken wasn't dry. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because there's been times where I've come in and had to wait 15+ minutes just for my drink. Havent been to a Spot Coffee in years. With no location very nearby and being surrounded by Tim Hortons and the occassional Crapbucks I forgot what a great place this is. Not for its food, which I remember being quite good, but for its coffee and espresso! Came into this location as a dessert spot (coffee for me is dessert) after eating next door at SATO and decided to go with the White Chocolate Espresso Shake. I got the medium size and decided to pass on the whipped cream and instead asked them to fill it up. Man let me tell you the barista behind the counter knows his stuff! That big old beard of doom he wore contains magical esspresso secrets because my drink was rockin! Just enough of that earthy espresso flavor and sweetness to slam in contrast against the white chocolate and caramel that was drizzled inside the cup prior to him pouring the blended mixture in. I drove home with a smile as I sipped on this treat and my belly, full of ramen noodles and dumplings was happy! Truly a gem of an establishment sharing a corner on Elmwood that could easily be missed... The decor and atmosphere here is also super chillin, warm and cozy. Take the time to explore our local hiding spots folks! Stop in and waste some time enjoying the finer, cheaper things in life!! I found myself coming here three weeks in a row for Saturday breakfast after going to the Bidwell Market. The atmosphere is bustling ... the service ranges from friendly to indifferent. I am particularly fond of the Mike breakfast sandwich - and order it every time(with sausage). The coffee is good as well, and my previous experience with the baked goods is very positive as well. Today they were out of the seven layer bars - so I chose a frosted donut. The donut is pumpkin spice which it was not labeled as, but none the less ... delicious. Well I couldn't connect, and could not figure out why....So I asked the guy working, and he said for me to boot my laptop....I thought that seemed a little odd as I don't have to do that anywhere else but I did.... Well , that wasn't the problem....I eventually connected, and then I finally gave up....Web pages IF they loaded were taking like over a minute to load....It was very very annoying so much to the point that I finally just left..... But before I left I asked the guy behind the counter what was going on with the internet there.....He told me they have a basic router that is basically like a home-use type router....It cannot keep up with the demand of all the customers, and whomever else may be using it....He said you just have to wait it out till there are less costumers.....Really ? One of my favorite things about Buffalo is how people are so supportive of local businesses. It helps that most of the local businesses are amazing. This location is right next to a Panera but it's always packed. Spot is awesome. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. They have all the tea and coffee drinks you expect at any coffee house. I always get their soy chai latte and it's great. They also have pastries and a pretty large food menu. I've tried their soups and sandwiches and everything has been delicious. And they always have vegetarian options. Spot is a great place to study or work. I've always been able to find a table and they have outlets all along the front windows which is really useful when my laptop inevitably dies. I always can count on Spot for a reliably fresh and delicious meal. I don't drink coffee but in terms of their drinks they have unreal jet tea smoothies - if you're into that kinda thing. I typically order the roasted turkey panini but I've recently been gravitating toward the chicken feta wrap. The sandwiches/paninis/wraps all come with a salad with their house vinaigrette. I usually have enough for two meals between the salad and the sandwich but the last time I went the salad was extremely skimpy, so thumbs down to that. Overall, four stars, one knocked off for their prices ($10 for a sandwich) and the inconsistency in the portions of the food. If the portions were always equal I'd be okay with the prices. Spot is definitely still worth a stop by if you're in the Elmwood neighborhood. read more

While camping out at Women's & Children's hospital I couldn't face the idea of cafeteria food, so headed outside and pulled up my Yelp app to see what was nearby. Spot Coffee wasn't too far of a walk, the reviews were great and the sun was shining, so off I went. Boy am I glad I did! The atmosphere was loud and bustling, with nothing but pleasant people. The service was fantastic, the woman who took my order was knowledgeable in answering my questions and seemed to genuinely enjoy her job. The baristas were hopping to fill drink orders and calling out names loud enough to be heard over the crowd. I ordered the soup and salad combo with Lentil (Vegan) soup and spinach salad, along with a Chai latte. The lentil soup was so thick i could stand my spoon up in it, and wonderfully seasoned, just the way I love it. I swear Lentil is probably my favorite soup, and this is one of the best I have ever had. It came with two thick focaccia "bread sticks" that were perfect for dunking. The spinach salad was loaded with berries (Blue and Strawberry) slivers of onion and goat cheese. Delicious. The Chai was wonderful. Fragrant and heady with spices, but not overpoweringly so. All in all this was just what the doctor ordered and i cannot wait to go back under more pleasant circumstances, especially so I can try some of the sweets that were tempting me from the glass case. read more

Location is HUGE, there is free wifi (but I *believe* they give each individual customer a different log-in/password), the décor is shabby chic (sorta reminded me of "Friends"/'90s grunge set), with terrible paintings for sale on one-side, tons of people working on laptops/on dates/asleep on a chair/reading a book, they serve food, but latté was rather weak. No espresso taste whatsoever. Apparently, the tea latté was good though. One of my favorite spots (pun intended) to do some work. I don't use Wifi when I'm out usually, so that's not something I worry about. My major issue is getting an outlet since I never think to charge ahead of time and it's almost never an issue at the coffee shop. The space gives off a cute, hipster coffee shop vibe. There are a variety of places to sit and chat including a nice, dog-friendly patio outside which is great for people watching. Staff is usually nice enough. The food and drinks are on the pricier side and usually take awhile to come out - especially food. I've waited up to 20 minutes for a sandwich which seems a bit long. I have yet to have a bad experience with the food and, since I generally sit around for a few hours I don't mind spending a little extra. The paninis and pizzas have always been tasty. Their coffee is nothing special, but I like it. Overall, I think its a chill hang out spot. It's open late which I really like and in a great location. read more

When I'm halfway between two stars I tend to look for things that push my review towards the positive side. But I'm struggling with Spot. The positive things that I said in my previous review stand but the lack of vegan options, the meh temperatures that my drinks have been served at, and the less than mediocre espresso I've gotten recently are just a few of the things that are pushing me to a 3-Star okay. And they are okay. Still come here. But just don't expect above and beyond. Whether that's management or the people who are working, I'm not sure. Likely a combination of both but probably more management. The staff is usually friendly but there are probably things they could do as well to improve things. read more

Usually I pass up Spot for Starbucks, but the day I was on Elmwood was too cold and rainy to walk the extra few blocks, so I settled for this shop. The interior was pretty cool from what I saw, though I didn't have much time to really look around as I was pretty cold and wet, and shivering at that point. I ordered a chai latte, noticing that the price was a little higher for a grande than it was at Starbucks, and the cup size was a little smaller. But hey, I'll take what I can get. At least the latte tasted much better; it was light and had much more of a kick. After I drank it I felt pretty great, and not so miserable in the rainy cold. Spot was pretty packed on a Saturday afternoon, and I noticed that there weren't really any seats left. Tons of people were working on their laptops, or talking with their friends. I had the pleasure of having a business trip to Buffalo back in June 2014, so I got to check out a bunch of neat things up there like Silo City, Niagara Falls, and the exterior of Frank Lloyd Wright's Darwin Martin House. While up there, I decided to hunt down a "local" coffee shop, and happened upon Spot (however later realizing there are multiple locations - but maybe it's still "local" to Buffalo). I wanted to like Spot. I don't dislike Spot. But for as much as this place could be thriving, I was surprised by how little emphasis was placed on the actual coffee. Minimal - if any - product knowledge (unlike Blue Bottle, Sightglass, Ritual, Four Barrel, Philz in SF, etc.). And most of all, the coffee was brewed *WAY* too hot, which was a huge bummer. The staff is fun and colorful, the brewed coffee and espresso drinks are consistently excellent, and the menu is delicious (lots of healthy VEGETARIAN options, too). There's lots of seating (although it's frequently quite full) at small tables, on vintage sofas, and at large communal seating areas. Outlets are pretty easy to find. A covered patio (with heaters in the winter) is tucked around the corner on Cleveland, offers a great people-watching vantage point while keeping you away from the traffic (foot and car) on Elmwood. Funky decor with an ever-changing lineup of local artists is featured in this quintessentially urban hangout. read more

I'm not entirely sure how it took me an entire year of living in Buffalo to make it to a Spot Coffee location but it did and it will definitely not be my last stop. I ran in here Friday morning while looking for a quick breakfast and was very impressed by just how massive this Spot Coffee location was. You can sit both inside and outside with more then enough room for the busy morning rushes. When I walked in I was distracted by the selection of rice crispy treats, cookies, and brownies but being the mature adult I am 1/7 days a week I decided to order an actual breakfast burrito. The wait time was a little longer then I expected at around 10 minutes but I'm not really one to complain or care about that, things happen and you never know why. I will admit, I expected a real mediocre burrito but what I got was a flavourful burrito wrapped in a glorious tortilla roll. This was probably the best breakfast burrito I have had since moving to the Buffalo area and It will most likely become a staple to my morning meals routine. Overall, this was an awesome little coffee shop full or variety and seems to have something to offer everyone at all times of the day.
