My favorite spot to study ! Great vibe , great coffee and super great staff. They have a variety of furniture which you can pick your seat from depending on your mood . If you wanna study go for the desk, if want to chill and hang out coaches are super comfy . It is quite so you can focus on what you are doing but it is not that empty that feel you are the one on earth who has to study in a Friday night ! Great experience and Spot never disappoints !!!!!! read more

This place is amazing. The décor and size of this spot coffee location exceeds all of the others. It's always extremely busy but there is plenty of seating including wooden tables and chairs and lounge sofas. The desserts are always phenomenal. Every single thing from the cookies to the cakes. The place that this really fails is the coffee. Their coffee is horrendous. I've tried everything from black coffee to cappuccinos and unless you get pumps of flavor to mask the coffee taste, it's almost impossible to drink. Maybe this is just my taste buds ? Overall, a very enjoyable experience and will be back to have great food and conversations with friends. read more

Used to be one of my favorite places to go, I've been coming here since 2008 if not longer however the rules and policies and constant turnover rate is just super non customer friendly. If a customer makes a mistake regardless of whatever a local business should be accommodating. I wouldn't go here the baristas are not who they use to be. read more

My husband and I got an iced white chocolate mocha here and it was super tasty! We enjoy our coffee like my husband's personality...super sweet! Haha:) Ok, corny I know! But really, it wasn't too sweet in our opinion, it tasted just right. Very creamy. The service was very friendly. The interior of the place was very cute and spacious yet cozy. If we had had more time, we would have loved to sit and enjoy our coffee with some books. Alas, maybe you will get to have that experience in our place. I recommend Spot Coffee! read more

This is more regarding the service than the actual drink. 1. It was a moderately busy Saturday late afternoon and I waited about 5 minutes in line (no complaint) 2. The couple in front of me told me to go ahead of them because they were going to chat with the person at the register (no complaint - that was super nice!) 3 The cashier quickly took my order and I paid and Bam. Done. 4. And then I waited 5. And waited 6. And waited 7. The couple who was behind me got their drinks before mine because they were friends with the cashier. 8. The person making my drink made it incorrectly because they were too busy yapping to the couple. 9. And I waited 10 Finally got my drink Honestly, I appreciate that people are super friendly, but I shouldn't have waited 10 minutes for an iced vanilla latte. If I wanted to wait, I would have gone to Starbucks. read more

They used to have an amazing staff and was a pillar of the Elmwood village community but recently the whole staff quit bc the manager was unfairly fired by the giant corporation that owns spot coffee. Spot coffee treats it's employees like absolute trash and everything is extremely overpriced for a mediocre cafe. It has gone so absolutely downhill from what it once was. Do not go to spot coffee, support local shops!!! Long live workers! read more

Spacious inside with a cozy atmosphere. Lots of seating. Good menu with baked goods, desserts and heartier dishes like wraps and pizza. But service is so hit and miss. I've had great customer service and then people who look like they'd rather die than take a drink order. I literally had to make eye contact with the barista tonight to get them to start making my drink because they were chatting with their coworkers. I've waited tables, tended bar and worked retail - customer service is part of the job. Otherwise this is a great place. read more

I recently purchased 2 bags of whole bean coffee. I grind my coffee as needed for my french press. I ground the coffee beans that I had just bought in my coffee grinder, the same one I have always used. The beans were so bone dry that they turned to dust upon grinding. Not one little bit of the oil that usually comes with grinding was evident. Surprised and Disappointed. read more

I stopped by for a spot of tea (not really a british impression) and to spot check the atmosphere. It's easy to spot why this spot is a popular spot for people-spotting. I've never been guilty of despotism but let me put it this way. Starbucks vs Spot: Spot the evil corporation. Hint: It's not Spot. Seriously, why anyone would frequent Starbucks when this lovely, formerly standalone, now local-chain place is available, delicious, and has the absolute best Chicken Pesto Focaccia sandwiches you'll ever have, is beyond me. Seriously, try the sandwich. It's pretty amazing. I don't really go to coffee shops, in fact last time I stepped in here was when I played a music performance here, but if I did, I would go to this one... that much I know. read more

OVERALL, 3.5: I enjoy coming here for a quick bite to eat or drink while getting some work done. Parking can be tricky and wifi can be spotty, but decent coffee and food with a lot of seating. [FOOD - 3.5] I try not to read other reviews before I write one, but I happened to be scrolling through a few and saw a couple people mention they thought their food was over priced. I am quick to point out when I feel meals are over priced and I honestly do not feel like anything I've eaten here has been. Granted, I haven't had a lot as I mostly stop in for coffee, but from what I've experienced I thought the prices were fair for the amount of food and quality. I got a panini with a side of greens and it was right at $10. To me that seems about normal. Anyway, the food I've tried hasn't been anything special, but it's been pretty solid cafe fare, that I would definitely get again. [DRINKS - 3.5] When I come to Spot, it's typically just for a drink. I will get a plain latte on occasion, but honestly I usually just stick with your basic iced or hot coffee. The coffee here is decent - nothing to rave about, but it does the job. [ATMOSPHERE - 3] I think it depends what you're looking for. There's so many great local coffee shops in Buffalo, that I love, and they each have their own unique vibe. When I'm coming to Spot, it's because it's a larger space with ample seating, many outlets, semi decent parking options, and has decent food/drinks/atmosphere. The music can be a bit loud, but I don't find it TOO distracting, it just isn't ideal usually. [SERVICE - 5] I've always experienced awesome service. The people behind the counter seem genuinely happy at work here. Everyone has always been very friendly and my food / drinks have always been prepared in a reasonable amount of time NOTES * Being directly on Elmwood, there is only on street parking. This is a fairly busy area and sometimes it's difficult to find parking. I find searching on the side streets helps a lot, but still, it can be tricky to find *Wifi can be a bit spotty, but I haven't found that it prohibits getting work done too much. (The wifi may go out for a minute but then it automatically reconnects just fine, but it can happen more frequently at times) read more

Havent been to a Spot Coffee in years. With no location very nearby and being surrounded by Tim Hortons and the occassional Crapbucks I forgot what a great place this is. Not for its food, which I remember being quite good, but for its coffee and espresso! Came into this location as a dessert spot (coffee for me is dessert) after eating next door at SATO and decided to go with the White Chocolate Espresso Shake. I got the medium size and decided to pass on the whipped cream and instead asked them to fill it up. Man let me tell you the barista behind the counter knows his stuff! That big old beard of doom he wore contains magical esspresso secrets because my drink was rockin! Just enough of that earthy espresso flavor and sweetness to slam in contrast against the white chocolate and caramel that was drizzled inside the cup prior to him pouring the blended mixture in. I drove home with a smile as I sipped on this treat and my belly, full of ramen noodles and dumplings was happy! Truly a gem of an establishment sharing a corner on Elmwood that could easily be missed... The decor and atmosphere here is also super chillin, warm and cozy. Take the time to explore our local hiding spots folks! Stop in and waste some time enjoying the finer, cheaper things in life!! I think this drink along with my dates was like $8 which in comparison to a Starbucks, say Mocca Latte ($6+) blew me away. YUM !!! read more

Was in there a few weeks ago.....Got a coffee....I think their coffee is average, imo...But I brought my laptop in as I wanted to do somethings online.... Well I couldn't connect, and could not figure out why....So I asked the guy working, and he said for me to boot my laptop....I thought that seemed a little odd as I don't have to do that anywhere else but I did.... Well , that wasn't the problem....I eventually connected, and then I finally gave up....Web pages IF they loaded were taking like over a minute to load....It was very very annoying so much to the point that I finally just left..... But before I left I asked the guy behind the counter what was going on with the internet there.....He told me they have a basic router that is basically like a home-use type router....It cannot keep up with the demand of all the customers, and whomever else may be using it....He said you just have to wait it out till there are less costumers.....Really ? Sometimes I wonder how people run businesses they way they do..... As someone who enjoys using the internet over a cup of coffee in a cafe, I won't be returning. read more

Cupcakes, cakes, pies, teas, coffees, lattes, that's not even the half of it and my head is already spinning! Haven't been to spot in years as I do not reside in Buffalo anymore but upon my recent trip decided to pop in. Made a quick stop at Spot to grab some lunch and caffeine before heading into work. I LOVE their chai tea lattes and their coffee in general. It's probably one of the better tasting coffee I've found in the area. Today I got a chicken feta wrap with a side salad. I've always been a fan of their house dressing. Everything tasted fresh and the chicken wasn't dry. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because there's been times where I've come in and had to wait 15+ minutes just for my drink. One of my favorite things about Buffalo is how people are so supportive of local businesses. It helps that most of the local businesses are amazing. This location is right next to a Panera but it's always packed. Spot is awesome. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. They have all the tea and coffee drinks you expect at any coffee house. I always get their soy chai latte and it's great. They also have pastries and a pretty large food menu. I've tried their soups and sandwiches and everything has been delicious. And they always have vegetarian options. Spot is a great place to study or work. I've always been able to find a table and they have outlets all along the front windows which is really useful when my laptop inevitably dies. Internet is free although you have to get a ticket from the staff. The parking lot next to the Panera is also for Spot customers! read more

I always can count on Spot for a reliably fresh and delicious meal. I don't drink coffee but in terms of their drinks they have unreal jet tea smoothies - if you're into that kinda thing. I typically order the roasted turkey panini but I've recently been gravitating toward the chicken feta wrap. The sandwiches/paninis/wraps all come with a salad with their house vinaigrette. I usually have enough for two meals between the salad and the sandwich but the last time I went the salad was extremely skimpy, so thumbs down to that. Overall, four stars, one knocked off for their prices ($10 for a sandwich) and the inconsistency in the portions of the food. If the portions were always equal I'd be okay with the prices. Spot is definitely still worth a stop by if you're in the Elmwood neighborhood. read more

Its fine I guess. This is a large location and has a lot of tables, couches and the like, making for easy and comfortable seating, whatever your seating needs may be. I find Spot overrated, I don't get the lack of clean tables, the service is generally on the rude side, and overall the place looks a little run down. But I know many people love Spot, so I think it may just be that I look for a different type of service in a coffee shop. Parking is street and difficult, at best. read more

While camping out at Women's & Children's hospital I couldn't face the idea of cafeteria food, so headed outside and pulled up my Yelp app to see what was nearby. Spot Coffee wasn't too far of a walk, the reviews were great and the sun was shining, so off I went. Boy am I glad I did! The atmosphere was loud and bustling, with nothing but pleasant people. The service was fantastic, the woman who took my order was knowledgeable in answering my questions and seemed to genuinely enjoy her job. The baristas were hopping to fill drink orders and calling out names loud enough to be heard over the crowd. I ordered the soup and salad combo with Lentil (Vegan) soup and spinach salad, along with a Chai latte. The lentil soup was so thick i could stand my spoon up in it, and wonderfully seasoned, just the way I love it. I swear Lentil is probably my favorite soup, and this is one of the best I have ever had. It came with two thick focaccia "bread sticks" that were perfect for dunking. The spinach salad was loaded with berries (Blue and Strawberry) slivers of onion and goat cheese. Delicious. The Chai was wonderful. Fragrant and heady with spices, but not overpoweringly so. All in all this was just what the doctor ordered and i cannot wait to go back under more pleasant circumstances, especially so I can try some of the sweets that were tempting me from the glass case. read more

I found myself coming here three weeks in a row for Saturday breakfast after going to the Bidwell Market. The atmosphere is bustling ... the service ranges from friendly to indifferent. I am particularly fond of the Mike breakfast sandwich - and order it every time(with sausage). The coffee is good as well, and my previous experience with the baked goods is very positive as well. Today they were out of the seven layer bars - so I chose a frosted donut. The donut is pumpkin spice which it was not labeled as, but none the less ... delicious. This place was o-k. Location is HUGE, there is free wifi (but I *believe* they give each individual customer a different log-in/password), the décor is shabby chic (sorta reminded me of "Friends"/'90s grunge set), with terrible paintings for sale on one-side, tons of people working on laptops/on dates/asleep on a chair/reading a book, they serve food, but latté was rather weak. No espresso taste whatsoever. Apparently, the tea latté was good though. This bad review is for this location on Elmwood only. Note to the staff- how hard would it be to make your customers feel welcome, especially when they try to engage you with good comments? I just got through ordering and tried to make small talk not once, not twice, but three times. What did I get in return? Not one reply, not one smile- after three chances to prove yourself worthy of Buffalo's otherwise reputation for being neighborly. Wise up- it costs nothing to be a little friendly. read more

Usually I pass up Spot for Starbucks, but the day I was on Elmwood was too cold and rainy to walk the extra few blocks, so I settled for this shop. The interior was pretty cool from what I saw, though I didn't have much time to really look around as I was pretty cold and wet, and shivering at that point. I ordered a chai latte, noticing that the price was a little higher for a grande than it was at Starbucks, and the cup size was a little smaller. But hey, I'll take what I can get. At least the latte tasted much better; it was light and had much more of a kick. After I drank it I felt pretty great, and not so miserable in the rainy cold. Spot was pretty packed on a Saturday afternoon, and I noticed that there weren't really any seats left. Tons of people were working on their laptops, or talking with their friends. I felt kind of cramped, even in a big shop like this. Good thing we weren't sticking around for very long. read more

I had the pleasure of having a business trip to Buffalo back in June 2014, so I got to check out a bunch of neat things up there like Silo City, Niagara Falls, and the exterior of Frank Lloyd Wright's Darwin Martin House. While up there, I decided to hunt down a "local" coffee shop, and happened upon Spot (however later realizing there are multiple locations - but maybe it's still "local" to Buffalo). I wanted to like Spot. I don't dislike Spot. But for as much as this place could be thriving, I was surprised by how little emphasis was placed on the actual coffee. Minimal - if any - product knowledge (unlike Blue Bottle, Sightglass, Ritual, Four Barrel, Philz in SF, etc.). And most of all, the coffee was brewed *WAY* too hot, which was a huge bummer. So, meh. read more

I love SPoT Coffee wraps. But even better they have started using paper straws. Way to go, SPoT!!

The Spot Coffee location on Elmwood Avenue is probably the busiest coffee shop in the city--and for a good reason. The staff is fun and colorful, the brewed coffee and espresso drinks are consistently excellent, and the menu is delicious (lots of healthy VEGETARIAN options, too). There's lots of seating (although it's frequently quite full) at small tables, on vintage sofas, and at large communal seating areas. Outlets are pretty easy to find. A covered patio (with heaters in the winter) is tucked around the corner on Cleveland, offers a great people-watching vantage point while keeping you away from the traffic (foot and car) on Elmwood. Funky decor with an ever-changing lineup of local artists is featured in this quintessentially urban hangout. read more

One of my favorite spots (pun intended) to do some work. I don't use Wifi when I'm out usually, so that's not something I worry about. My major issue is getting an outlet since I never think to charge ahead of time and it's almost never an issue at the coffee shop. The space gives off a cute, hipster coffee shop vibe. There are a variety of places to sit and chat including a nice, dog-friendly patio outside which is great for people watching. Staff is usually nice enough. The food and drinks are on the pricier side and usually take awhile to come out - especially food. I've waited up to 20 minutes for a sandwich which seems a bit long. I have yet to have a bad experience with the food and, since I generally sit around for a few hours I don't mind spending a little extra. The paninis and pizzas have always been tasty. Their coffee is nothing special, but I like it. Overall, I think its a chill hang out spot. It's open late which I really like and in a great location. read more

When I'm halfway between two stars I tend to look for things that push my review towards the positive side. But I'm struggling with Spot. The positive things that I said in my previous review stand but the lack of vegan options, the meh temperatures that my drinks have been served at, and the less than mediocre espresso I've gotten recently are just a few of the things that are pushing me to a 3-Star okay. And they are okay. Still come here. But just don't expect above and beyond. Whether that's management or the people who are working, I'm not sure. Likely a combination of both but probably more management. The staff is usually friendly but there are probably things they could do as well to improve things. read more
