The ladies were friendly and courteous and took my order with ease. The setting is a bit darker which I like. It's easier on the eyes and doesn't cause eye fatigue. Not too busy for lunch. We went here basically as soon as they opened for some coffee. We were not greeted when we walked in or even when we ordered. We accidentally got the door stuck open and couldn't fix it ourselves. The barista was not very nice about it and told someone in the back that she "won't work under these conditions" and we were the only people in the place. Very odd and not welcoming vibes for 7am on a Monday morning at a coffee shop. The place has plenty of places to sit and the coffee is decent. Nice little local coffee shop near the theater district, corner of Chippewa walkable area. They do offer gluten free rolls and wraps; they suggest the roll and it was pretty good for being gluten free. They do charge extra for that, and if you would like an alternative milk option they have them but charge extra as well. read more

We stayed at the nearby Hilton and boy was I glad to see SPoT nearby! No more hotel room swill for Mr. Coffee, that's me (or so I'm told). For its espresso, SPoT has the good sense to use a La Marzocco, an exquisite instrument originating in Florence Italy. It is to espresso what Sophia Loren is to beauty. Only problem is they are still using paper cups instead of ceramic for espresso. "It's the pandemic." Ok then wash the stupid thing. SPoT is still very aggressive in their mask mandate, but if you are seated there's no risk and you can go without. According to places and people like SPoT, the virus knows if you are seated and is thus rendered harmless. Then why did we all get vaccinated instead of just sitting down. I got the Mike's on focaccia and it was largely inedible. No worry. I didn't come for the chow. read more

DO NOT GET ICED COFFEE HERE. Just wasted $5 on the worst cup of iced coffee i've ever ordered. The barista filled my cup to the top with ice then put the cup directly under the molten hot stream of regular coffee brewing. All the ice in my cup immediately melted and she served me the most watered down "coffee" possible. It was fully translucent. That's how you know it's going to be bad. It's bitter, slightly coffee flavored water. At least cool down the coffee before you ice it so this doesn't happen, or offer cold brew! It's literally going in the trash. I added a splash of milk to try to make it drinkable but it just isn't. Sad because i wanted to support local but should have just gone across the street to starbucks. Awful. read more

I came here for tea and it did not disappoint! I got an herbal one, which was blueberry-flavored, called Rishi. I really liked it. The other herbal ones were turmeric ginger and chamomile, but I wanted to try something new. The Rishi was hearty and full of vigor in taste! The place is so spacious, with tables and stools surrounding the counter. There's a gorgeous Buffalo-themed mural spread out on the wall. It's on the corner, so there's plenty of light and air coming in. There were lots of people sitting and working in silence, and a few chatting with others. Their service was quick and friendly. First of all, I'm a card carrying Starbucks rewards member, but lately that national chain has become more of an excuse for a caffeine fix than an enjoyable experience. When I had the choice of a real coffee experience or a fast food moment, I chose Spot coffee. It's funny that the other place is right across the street. It makes me wonder why anyone would compromise their coffee experience when you obviously have a better choice. The atmosphere is fun and funky. It fits the neighborhood on the corner of West Chippewa and Delaware Avenue . The woman behind the counter was incredibly friendly and conversational. After a stressful appointment at the IRS, it is so nice to be greeted with a smile. I asked her for a large latte in a ceramic mug rather than sipping it out of a little hole in a plastic lid. The latte was smooth, delicious, and artistically made. I also ordered a breakfast sandwich. The other place would taken it out of a cooler and shoved it in the microwave for a few minutes. This was freshly made with real eggs in the kitchen. I grabbed a table And absorbed the atmosphere while enjoying every second of my morning breakfast. Mixed experience -- ambience and service were excellent, and innovative/extensive menu of breakfast and other sandwiches. Espresso was one of the best I've had at a chain coffee shop, but the black house coffee was only average; it just wasn't strong-enough brewed for me to enjoy black, and it definitely wasn't strong enough to attempt cream or sugar -- it would have been watery. Probably fine as a red-eye, but that makes for a pretty expensive coffee. read more

This coffee shop is literally next door to a Starbucks, so I wanted to support the small business and hang out for a few minutes before a meeting. I ordered a grande iced caramel macchiato and searched for a place to sit. The seating area is dingy and is not clean. Crumbs on tables, crumbs on seats, stuff all over the carpeted floor. Over half the outlets don't work. I took a sip of my $6.00+ coffee hoping to at least have good coffee to talk about, but nope. It was bitter and the flavor was just not good at all. I was very disappointed and it unfortunately had me wishing I had visited the Starbucks next door. I stood there and waited for about 5 minutes. No one helped me. No order was there waiting for me. I saw a coffee that looked like mine on the other side of the counter. Went over and sure enough it was mine so i asked about the rest of my order. "Did you tell anyone you are here for a pickup?", in the rudest tone imaginable.
